Lee Gold is from Cape Town, South Africa and has recently
relocated to the UK. She has been playing piano since she was
8 years old and after many years of paying her musical dues,
she has blossomed into a beautiful, talented and professional
singer and pianist. Every other Monday accompanied by her
regular double bass player, she performs her exquisite renditions
of the best loved tunes from the riches of the Great American
Songbook. Perfect mellow music for a Monday night.
We’re proud to present the recently
reunited soul legends at Boisdale for the
first time following on from their sell-out
appearance alongside the Average White
Band at the Royal Festival Hall’s “Soul
Summit”. The 10-piece Kokomo will be
introduced by BBC Radio’s Robert Elms
who launched Boisdale’s Friday Soul
Nights back in 2014.
A Kokomo reunion would always have
been high on the wants list of anyone who
saw them in their 1970s heyday, when
they were consistently the hottest live
experience London’s small venues had to

Eric performs his blistering blend of blues, boogie-woogie and
rock and roll and a jumpin’ jukebox full of classics by B.B.
King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Ray Charles. He’s
accompanied by Jools Holland’s great bass player Dave Swift.
Tony Mortimer, former star of E17, has
now matured into a songwriter of great
quality. Later this year he’s releasing an
album of fine songs and featuring many
of them in his show tonight alongside
some of the great E17 hits he penned
back in the 90s when the band was in its
pomp.
East 17 scored 18 top twenty hits
including Deep, Steam, Let It Rain, It’s
Alright and the epic Christmas ballad
Stay Another Day (which remained at
number 1 for five weeks) as well as four
top ten albums and sales of over twenty
million records.

Boisdale’s Spring Break in Rio is a three-day spectacular featuring an all-star Brazilian band
including singer Luna Cohen with her special guest pianist Christianne Neves (flying in
from Brazil for her only UK dates on the European tour) and guitarist Luiz de Almeida (for
many years with Kirsty MacColl). Performing bossa nova, samba and MPB (Musica Popular
Brasileira) this fantastic band will transport you to the beaches, favelas and clubs of the
world’s most exciting city.
This great 12-piece ensemble was formed
by two of the star players in Madness,
one of the most successful bands in the
history of pop. Sax player Lee Thompson
and bass player Mark Bedford formed their
Ska Orchestra as a way of re-visiting their
roots in the Ska and Blue-Beat traditions
of Jamaica. The orchestra always delivers
a fast and hit packed show which raises
the roof and is about as much infectious
fun as you can possibly stand.
This is old school ska at its best. Prepare
yourself for some good time stomping –
knees up, arms rocking sideways and a

This excellent band is led by tenor sax
supremo, Dave Lewis, and features the
sassy vocals of Boisdale’s favourite Lizzie
Deane storming her way through a stack
of soul and funk classics.
It’s a real treat... tight chunky grooves
and very exciting and funky sax... an
absolute breath of fresh air. Dave Lewis
equally excelling in both jazz and funk
sets a standard of powerful, fiery solos
that will be hard to surpass this year.

ONE NIGHT IN VEGAS: SUSPICIOUSLY ELVIS
An astonishingly accurate homage
to Elvis’s iconic Las Vegas period,
‘Suspiciously Elvis’ features an awesome
band, a troupe of dancers and a brilliant
performance from the UK’s premier Elvis
impersonator. This fantastic show always

Now a firm favourite in her adopted UK, talented vocalist Gabrielle Ducomble brings a
special blend of Gallic charm and sophistication to the British jazz scene.
Singing in English and her native French, Gabrielle performs Parisian-style jazz and tango,
putting a contemporary spin on songs by Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg and
Astor Piazzolla, plus her own original material. Her band, including some of Europe’s finest
musicians in an authentic line-up of guitar, violin and accordion, provides the perfect

GWEN DICKEY’S ROSE ROYCE
Gwen Dickey is the voice of the L.A.
based soul/funk group Rose Royce which,
in the 70s and 80s, scored such classic
hits as Carwash, Is It Love You’re After
and Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,
Gwen’s solo hits include Ain’t Nobody in
1994 and in 1998 and a collaboration
with Jay-Z for a brand new version of the
Rose Royce hit Wishing on a Star which
became a UK Top Ten hit. 40 years after
Rose Royce began their career Gwen
continues to tour the world with the band
and sounds as magnificent as ever.

The Black Hat Band is one of the most
entertaining party outfits we’ve seen in
a long time. The ultimate party band
playing everything from James Brown to
Beyoncé and featuring London’s answer
to Chaka Khan - the amazing Jaelee.
THE CHET BAKER SONGBOOK: THE JONNY BOSTON QUINTET
Chet Baker’s combination of matinee idol good looks, tender
vocals and lyrical trumpet playing made him an icon of cool
and jazz music’s poster boy. He was described as ‘James Dean,
Sinatra and Bix rolled into one’. Not an easy style to emulate but
singer and saxophonist Jonny Boston captures the vocal quality
whilst trumpeter Steve Fishwick recreates the beautiful sound
and sinuous lines of this truly great player.
THE JOOLS HOLLAND BOOGIE-WOOGIE DINNER
Jools Holland performs alongside some of his favourite
musicians in a night of piano pounding excitement with German
piano wizard Axel Zwingenberger, Ladyva, the glamorous queen
of the keys, master of stride piano Neville Dickie and Ben
Waters, pianist of choice for The Rolling Stones, the Kinks,
Chuck Berry and many others. The evening will also feature
the rhythm section from the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues
Orchestra and a few surprise guests.

Jeremy Sassoon’s regular tributes to Ray Charles at Boisdale
have proved tremendously popular. Tonight he performs a wide
repertoire of some of his favourite classics from artists as diverse
as Sam Cooke and Steely Dan all presented with his superb
soulful vocals and killer keyboard licks.

Since Boisdale opened Ray and his
terrific band have been making mayhem
on their regular visits. A firm favourite
with the Canary Wharf crowd the boys are
always on top form and now five years
on from the night they opened this joint
they’re back again with their infectious
good time swing and jive recalling the
glory days of Louis Prima in 1950s Las
Vegas - it’s a gas from start to finish.

Cult rhythm and blues band Al Ross and the Planets are back! A
while ago they were one of the most popular live bands in London
playing the Soho blues clubs, Camden Palace, Brahms and Liszt,
the Road House and Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club. The band
recently got back together to record a great batch of songs at Abbey
Road Studios and they’ve also started gigging again, recreating the
exciting, wild nights of raw rhythm and blues, soul and classic pop
that were so popular back in the nineties and led Time Out to claim
“seeing The Planets is one of the best nights out in London.”

Boisdale’s favourite blues man returns with his band for three days of great songs, killer
grooves and wailing harmonica. Errol and Co. play with a ragged, fluid grace creating an
urban sound with rural roots. Some songs are tough rockers designed to get crowds dancing
and others have a soulful ska and reggae vibe. His songs have a slangy, street poetry that
stick in your head, long after they finish.

CHRISTOPHER HOLLAND & HIS BAND
Christopher is the younger brother of
Boisdale’s Patron of Music Jools Holland
and for many years the siblings have been
appearing on stage together in big brother’s
Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. The Christopher
Holland Band’s debut gig at Boisdale was an
absolute joy and we’re delighted to welcome
them back. Holland junior presents boogie
and stomp that perfectly captures the power
pop era with more than a passing nod to the
Kinks, Small Faces, Squeeze, The Band,
classic soul and even a bit of Gerry Rafferty
thrown in.

SINATRA BIG BAND NIGHT WITH STEPHEN TRIFFITT
Stephen’s annual gig at Boisdale is
always a highlight of our year. Considered
by many to be the finest Sinatra tribute
act in the world today, Stephen sounds
uncannily like ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’. He’s
appeared regularly in Las Vegas and is a
sell-out whenever he appears at Boisdale.
