THE STORY
In 1959, Mikhail Darafeev, a Russian immigrant who spoke virtually no English, began making hardwood furniture frames in his
East Los Angeles garage. With the freedom to pursue the American dream, his Old World craftsmanship skills, and $500
borrowed from a family member, Mikhail soon outgrew his garage and became one of the top producers of hardwood chair
frames and components in the West. His attention to detail quickly earned him contracts with top furniture manufacturers and the
nickname “Gentleman of the Old School.” Within 10 years, Mikhail built a state-of-the-art factory in Los Angeles.
THE BRAND
In the mid 1970’s, the second generation of Darafeevs created a proprietary line of product, starting with a single barstool. There
was nothing on the market like it. Soon to follow came a complete line of barstools, game chairs, tables, and bars. An American
family business was born.
Darafeev products began to appear in the finest retail stores across the nation, delivering made-to-order home furnishings
tailored to client's unique specifications. Design configurations became nearly infinite as available styles were made in multiple
sizes and heights, then outfitted with high quality wood finish, upholstery, nail treatments and metal decor. Customers were not
hesitant to pay a premium for the highly customized product. The company regularly services clients who purchased Darafeev
furniture several decades ago, and wish to update the upholstery on products still in daily use.
The commitment to building contract quality into residential furniture opened the doors to the contract and hospitality industries,
meeting stringent requirements for strong, durable furnishings. Distributors have taken the Darafeev product into hotels,
restaurants, country clubs, luxury retirement centers... even Presidential libraries.
THE EXPERIENCE
Adhering to Mikhail’s vision of “doing a few things well”, Darafeev puts all its emphasis on building only the world’s finest
barstools, chairs, game tables and bars. With a solid focus on quality and service, the company takes pride in creating heirloom
quality furniture, engineered to last generations. American components are sourced whenever possible, such as Leggett and
Platt chair controls, Shepherd casters, Trendler swivels, and Sherwin Williams wood finishes.
Today, Darafeev remains family owned, operating over 100,000 square feet of world class manufacturing space from two
Southern California factories. Co-founder Antonina Darafeev still drives to the office every day. At 85 years old, she is one of the
first to arrive and of the last to leave. Now in the third generation, the Darafeev family legacy continues with the same strong
commitment to the level of quality and craftsmanship as Mikhail, who often said “If it can’t be built to last, I won’t build it at all.”

Except for normal wear and tear, Darafeev Inc. guarantees all products against defects in material or workmanship for five
years from date of purchase by the original owner and will repair or replace any and all parts proven to be defective at the sole
discretion of Darafeev Inc. Original invoice required on all warranty claims.
Darafeev will repair or replace at our discretion any wood frame or assembly that structurally fails during normal home use due
to a manufacturing defect. Should a product be discontinued within that time, Darafeev will make every attempt to repair the
item; however, if repair is not possible, we will replace the defective item with a similar product in similar fabric and/or finish.
Cloth, fabrics, leather, ultraviolet discoloring of light finishes are not covered. Additionally not covered under this warranty are
solid wood and hardwood veneers which are influenced by the external environment, some parts of your furniture, and/or other
specific conditions. This warranty does not cover warping, splitting, shrinking, sticking, season splits, cracking, denting or
checking of any solid wood or veneer parts used in products manufactured by Darafeev. To minimize these conditions,
Darafeev strongly recommends that the environment around the wood products be kept at a relative humidity of 25%-35% year
round and products are stored flat, where applicable. This warranty does not cover any natural effect in solid wood such as
color variations or graining.
Repair or replacement of any defective parts shall constitute complete fulfillment of all obligations with respect to the product.
This warranty does not require the replacement of the entire product.
This warranty is void if the product has not been assembled, deluxed and thoroughly inspected by an authorized Darafeev
representative or our factory approved agent, prior to delivery to end user. All claims must be made through an authorized
Darafeev representative or our factory approved agent.
This warranty does not extend to any Darafeev products sold for commercial purposes or used in commercial environments.
If repairs become necessary more than five years from the date of the original purchase, Darafeev will repair product at its
factory for the original owner under the following conditions: (1) all freight charges will the sole responsibility of the owner (2) all
labor charges, if any, necessary to disassemble, prepare for return and reassemble must be performed by an authorized
Darafeev representative or our factory approved agent, and the cost of that labor will be the sole responsibility of the original
owner.

Receive, Assemble, Deluxe
Dealers and design professionals selling Darafeev product are expected to organize client delivery, assembly and
deluxing of products. “White Glove” delivery service is recommended for delivery to end-users out of the immediate
service area.
MAP Policy
The Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) for any Darafeev product shall not exceed 25% below the current
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The MAP Policy applies to all advertisements of Darafeev product in
any and all media, including but not limited to flyers, posters, coupons, mailers, inserts, newspapers, magazines,
catalogs, television, radio, and public signage, as well as internet sites, social media sites, apps, or any other
electronic media.

PLACING AN ORDER
Authorized dealers must place their orders directly with our factory via email or facsimile transmission. Orders are not accepted
by phone. A legible, signed purchase order is required, including all needed applicable information. Incomplete or missing
information will delay order. Purchase order numbers help in avoiding duplicate orders. We will not be responsible for duplicate
orders due to re-fax, missing P.O. numbers or unauthorized changes. We do not accept purchase orders with a date or
reoccurring name.
RETURNS/CANCELLATIONS
Each order is custom made to specification and therefore is not subject to cancelation, nor returnable. Do not submit an order
unless certain that all information is correct and acceptance of product is confirmed.
ASSEMBLY, PREPARATION & “DELUXING”
Authorized dealers or agents are required to open, inspect and “Deluxe” all products prior to delivery to the end user. This may
include doing minor touchup on finishes where damage may have occurred as a result of transit or handling; removal of excess
threads on seat cushions; confirming that all components are complete and mechanisms assembled correctly;
and reviewing product for any other necessary adjustment. Dealers must assist or instruct their customers in assembly,
preparation and “Deluxing” on orders that are drop-shipped. Dealer preparation and ”Deluxing” of all products to be
accomplished at dealer expense.
LEAD TIME
Because of our commitment to prompt production start times, our factory production line is highly automated and capable of
very quick turnaround for both stock and special orders. Therefore, please make certain all initial order information is correct
and most likely to be permanent. Changes to orders may be difficult to accommodate once we have processed your purchase
order. Standard lead time is 3-4 weeks for most items, and may change seasonally.

SHIPPING
All orders are F.O.B. Chino, CA. All “Will Call” orders are for “Blanket Wrapped” transport unless specified. We ask that you
specify method and carrier with each order. All shipments, whenever possible, will be palletized and “Stretch Wrapped” to
ensure safe transit. Consolidations of orders are made whenever possible.
SHIP TIME
Freight considerations based on weight are extremely important so we typically consolidate all orders based on a 1 month
(3-4 week) time frame. To accomplish this, we start with the oldest order and move chronologically through to the newest and
put all orders into production simultaneously. This allows us to ship once per month, or 12 times per year. We feel that it is
important not to lose a sale on any special order due to a customer’s deadline or “must have by” date. To support these needs,
we have a “quick ship” program designed to give our dealers the ability to fulfill delivery in order to meet their customers’ needs.
In the event of any down time or outages, an immediate factory advisory will be sent to dealers who are using our “quick ship”
program.
DAMAGE CLAIMS AND SHORTAGES
All merchandise is carefully packed and thoroughly inspected before leaving our factory. All products should be inspected as
soon as possible especially prior to delivery to the customer. Responsibility for damage or shortage claims must be made
immediately with the freight carrier and is assumed by the dealer upon acceptance of shipment. We cannot report or make
the claim for you. All carriers require that shipping cartons and packing materials be retained for inspection. UPS does not
consider a damage claim where packing materials or cartons have been lost or discarded. Note any and all damage or
shortages upon carrier receipt.
DROP SHIPPING
A $50 “Drop Ship” charge applies to each order shipped directly from our factory to any party other that the company placing
the order. This charge includes both LTL and UPS service and is in addition to any freight charges that you incur. Drop
shipments are not covered by our Warranty due to our inability to control un-packaging, “Deluxing’” and assembly by the end
user.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Our company uses the most thorough packaging methods and premium materials available in the industry. Even with these
painstaking precautions, carriers may occasionally mishandle freight causing concealed freight damage. With our Quality
Control inspection checkpoints in place, we ensure that all products are free of quality or structural defects prior to shipment.
Therefore please open and inspect contents immediately upon receiving shipments and report or note any product damage
before signing delivery receipt.

CARING FOR WOOD FURNITURE
All Darafeev products have been finished with the finest materials on the market. Along with using compliant toners, stains and
other essential finishing products manufactured to the highest EPA standards, along with the final finish coat - which is a post
catalyzed varnish - very little care is required in maintaining a Darafeev finished product.
HEAT, HUMIDITY AND HARDWOODS
It’s a fact that up to half the weight of freshly sawn wood is water. Furniture is crafted from wood that is carefully dried, retaining
just enough moisture for the furniture to properly acclimate to the relative humidity in your home. The wood in furniture
"breathes", taking on and releasing moisture. This results in shrinking and expanding components, and either extreme may
cause splits and/or joint failure.
Like your own skin, solid hardwood furniture’s natural response to extremely dry air is to lose moisture and shrink a bit. The
halves of an extension table may part slightly and a few tiny openings may appear on a solid wood surface. This will correct
itself as the relative humidity in the home rises, and the wood absorbs enough moisture to expand slightly. On the other hand, if
you don’t have an air conditioner or humidifier, your home’s relative humidity may get too high. Parts of your wood furniture
may absorb excess moisture from the air and expand. Under normal environmental fluctuation, this will correct itself as your
home’s relative humidity decreases. The furniture’s quality and sturdiness are not affected by these natural changes.
WAYS TO ENSURE YOUR SOLID HARDWOOD FURNITURE’S LONGEVITY

For your comfort, as well as to protect your furniture, use a humidifier or heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the
summer to keep relative humidity at 25-35 percent.

Avoid placing furniture directly in front of radiators, heaters, or fireplaces

Do not expose hardwood furniture to continuous direct sunlight.
THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES ARE RECOMMENDED
With just a little TLC, genuine hardwood furniture will last a lifetime; taking good care of your solid hardwood furniture ensures
its longevity. Just clean with a soft damp cloth.

Since wood is a product of nature, slight color tone variation may be evident due to wood’s many unique characteristics,
especially when viewed under various lighting conditions. Many of our unique, carefully selected finishes are achieved by our
top craftsmen who meticulously sand, stain, pad, rub, file, rasp, shade, highlight and wormhole to represent an individually
produced piece. Therefore, since wood varies in acceptance of wood stains, so do the hands of our craftsmen vary in their
touch making each piece unique in the finished appearance. When possible, it is advised to submit a wood sample when
attempting to match previously made furniture, which may have been altered by cleaning agents, or darkened with age.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL
Wood is the most available and sustainable material, with six trees planted for every one harvested in the US. Nearly almost
4.8 million trees are planted each day, or 1.7 billion annually. Since the 1940s, forest growth has exceeded harvest, and today
it does so by 47 percent. The supply of hardwood trees would last more than 75 years if not a single new tree was planted and
harvesting continued at the same rate. Wood products come from a living, regenerating resource, ensured to future generations
through responsible forestry practices.*
WOOD CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Use a clean, soft cloth for polishing wood finish and a slightly damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid using waxes or polishes as they
alter the look, feel and sheen of finish.
UPCHARGED FINISHES
Many of our finishes are upgraded and an upcharge applies. These high end custom finishes are produced offline. Additional
lead time is required for these finishes as they are labor intensive, and may include rasping, chiseling, wire brushing, padding,
burnishing and other hand applied techniques. All custom finishes are non-returnable.
REMINDER
If you are placing an order that is to match a previous order, you must advise us. An exact color match is not possible unless
we are provided a wood sample from the previous order.

Be advised that we may need a color sample if trying to match previously sold furniture since exposure of all wood finishes to
Ultra Violet light will cause darkening, fading and / or discoloration. Wood finishes will also vary according to natural wood grain
patterns. All natural characteristics of wood, including mineral streaks, cannot be totally avoided. These natural characteristics
are not considered a flaw or a defect and cannot be returnable as such. Every effort is made, especially on natural or light
finishes to select around these natural blemishes however, it is not 100% assured.
COF (CUSTOMER'S OWN FINISH)
Please allow a minimum of 10 days plus the time it takes to ship the stain sample back for approval. We require a customer
provided sample at least 6” x 6” preferably on the same wood species being considered. We will then professionally match the
sample using our own quality materials and assign the Category type for upcharge pricing and mixing charge. Once the finish
sample is approved, the backside of the sample must be signed, photo-copied and faxed back to our office. We retain a
duplicate sample with the required formula so that we may begin production once we receive signed or written approval. Some
finishes can be very complex and may require additional time for trial and error to create a satisfactory match. Rates for custom
finishes vary because finishes can range from very basic (simple wiping stain) to a multi-stepped process. A quote will be
provided with sample.

Some COM fabrics may require special handling and cutting, and in some cases require more yardage than shown in the
pricelist. Submit cuttings of COM fabrics with order to determine actual yardage requirement.
The company reserves the right to refuse C.O.M. orders, or process without responsibility in cases where fabric is not suitable
because of pattern, weight, width, stretch, etc. The fabrics are unusable unless laminated or backed (upcharge required). We
assume no responsibility for wearability of C.O.M. fabrics. They are applied totally at the customer’s own risk.

LEATHER CHARACTERISTICS AND AWARENESS
Genuine top grain leather is a symbol of luxury and quality. Its strength, supple feel and wear ability set it apart from ordinary
fabric coverings. Because leather has an average lifespan four times that of fabric coverings, its no wonder American
consumers are increasingly discovering the tremendous value it represents. Darafeev has served the furniture industry since
the 1950's and believes the more you understand leather, the more you'll appreciate leather.
UNDERSTANDING THE MARKS OF QUALITY LEATHER
Cattle encounter a variety of nature's elements in their search for food. Grazing often brings the animals in contact with trees,
bushes and barbed wire, which can leave scratches and scars on the hide.
MARKINGS: Are natural, and in no way affect the strength or wearability of the leather. In fact, these markings are indeed the
unique characteristics, which are your customer's assurance of genuine leather.
GRAINING: Like human fingerprints, is unique to each individual hide, and is the hallmark of quality full-grain leather hides.
BRANDING MARKS: Although seldom found on finished furniture, the branding mark is a part of virtually every hide.
NECK WRINKLES: So that the steer will have the flexibility needed to move its head while grazing, the skin located on its neck
is full and loose. As the neck stretches and contracts, wrinkles naturally occur in the hide.
SCRATCHES: Healed scratch marks are evidence of the cow's unsheltered life. The fewer marks of this kind on the hide, the
more expensive it is.
BACK BONE: The natural furrows appear along the backbone of all hides. Again, due to the animal's physiology, they are your
proof of a natural full grain hide.
STRETCH MARKS: Stretch marks appear in cowhide for the same reason they do in humans. The process of calving requires
the stretching of their skin to accommodate the new calf. Nothing could be more natural.
PLEDGE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE
Leather is a product of nature; each hide has unique markings and a character all its own due to variance in shade and grain
patterns (texture). No two hides are alike. Distinctive marks such as abrasions, healed scars, barbed wire nicks and stretch
marks are acquired through out the life of the animal and are considered the hallmarks of a quality leather product. The
Darafeev pledge of quality assurance protects leather upholstery for one year against cracking, pealing or crocking (color
transfer). This pledge is extended only to the original buyer and covers residential use only. This pledge does not cover fading,
damage due to chemicals or exposure to sunlight and is not valid where there is evidence of heavy soiling or abuse.
