Catalog Information
Your Annual Resource Book
Our customers think about the Mealtimes catalog
as a valued Resource Book that supports their work
and play with children who have feeding issues.
For the past 20 years we have reflected a wholistic
view of children’s mealtimes and have provided the
products to support that view.
Successful participation at meals depends upon
areas as diverse as a good night’s sleep, focused attention, physical positioning, a comfortable sensory
environment, and interactive communication. Oral
sensorimotor control and competent use of movement
for oral exploration, sucking, swallowing, biting, and
chewing increases the ease of eating, and contributes
to the success of a mealtime.
We choose and field-test the therapy materials and
resources in this catalog very carefully. Many items
are used in unique ways in order to develop learning
progressions that are easier for children. We have
described these products in ways that make it easy to
select and use them appropriately with children who
have feeding, mealtime and oral-motor challenges.
Keep this annual catalog/resource book as your
guide to the best and widest selection of products for
your children. Come visit our web site (www.newvis.com) for lots of useful, practical information on
feeding, oral-motor skills, and mealtimes. We are a
small company with a strong personal commitment
to our customers.

Important Information
• We are sensitive to the needs of children and adults with
known or suspected allergy to products containing latex.
If a product is made of latex, it will be identified in the
product description in this catalog. All other products
are latex-free. Most soft plastic toys and dishes are
non-toxic and do not contain PVC or phthalates.
• Products you receive may differ slightly in color or
design patterns from the drawing in the catalog. Our
manufacturers often change the surface look of a product.
The basic shape and function of the item, however, will
be similar to its picture in Mealtimes.
• All Oral Feeding Equipment (i.e. bottles, nipples, spoons,
cups, straws, dishes) can be washed safely on the top
shelf of a dishwasher.

Most of the mouth toys and feeding equipment in
the Mealtimes catalog are designed for infants and
very young children with developing oral-motor
and feeding needs. They are not designed for older
children with teeth and persistent needs for the
strong oral input provided by intense biting and
chewing. As you purchase and use our products
please check each one before you give it to your
child. If the product is worn or damaged in any way,
please replace it. Please help us prevent accidental
choking from pieces of toys and feeding utensils that
have come apart in your child’s mouth.
Oral-Motor Treatment
Oral-Motor Treatment
Many infants and children
have developed an
uncomfortable relationship
with the face and mouth
because of suctioning, oral
examinations, oral surgery,
feeding tube insertion, or
sensory defensiveness. Fear
and dislike of this central
part of the child’s being
makes eating uncomfortable
and unpleasant. Oral-motor
treatment helps a child
develop a friendship with
the mouth and provides a
safe environment for the
development of oral skills.
Toys for mouth play and
sensory exploration lead
the child on a journey of
discovery. Tools for mouth
development such as
toothbrushes and pacifiers
make the journey to efficient
feeding skills easier and
more fun.
Our friendly brown Puppet That Swallows
will delight any child. It has a big mouth and the
special ability to “swallow” food or its own special
“bug” or “cookie” down the throat. Children who
are fearful of eating by mouth thoroughly enjoy the
playfulness and delight in eating which this cute
animal shares. In therapy or at home, our special
friend can help create a relaxed, playful approach
to eating and the presence of food. Use our furry
companion to introduce children to the concept that
food disappears from the mouth when we eat. Our
20” brown dog will win the love of your child.
CMO-01-01 – Puppet That Swallows: Dog – $39.00
Add a Portable Puppet Tongue to our
Puppet That Swallows. Just place the elastic around
your wrist and slip your fingers in the tongue.
When you put your fingers through the puppet’s
swallowing slit, you have a tongue that moves!
We’ve used it to show children how to move the
tongue to the side for chewing. It’s also wonderful
to show general tongue placement and movement
for speech sounds.
CMO-61-01 – Portable Puppet Tongue – $6.00
Sensory Integration “Cookies” are a
set of 2” padded squares made out of varying cloth
textures designed to stimulate tactile awareness
when children explore them. Each of the 6 “square
cookies” is made of a different fabric. These pretend
“cookies” are a wonderful way to expand children’s
tactile experiences as they feed a puppet. Designed
specifically for our Puppet That Swallows, they are
a perfect way of introducing a “pretend food” during play.
CMO-92-06 – SI Cookies – $7.50

Meet our tangerine P’s and Q’s from the
makers of Chewy Tubes. These bright letters appeal
to infants and children of all ages. They provide a
smooth mouthing surface for infants who are developing early mouthing skills. At the same time they
offer the toddler and
older child a strong,
resistant surface for
chewing. P’s and
Q’s are made from
an FDA compliant material that
does not contain
latex, lead, PVC, or
phthalates. Their solid one-piece construction provides an extremely durable form for children who
need proprioceptive input from chewing. Each letter
is 3” in length with a 1/2” diameter. Attach them
to a necklace or pacifier clip for easy accessibility.
These alphabet letters are the perfect age-appropriate
mouthing toy for young school-aged children!
The DuoSpoon offers children multiple oral
experiences that promote the development of both
feeding and oral-motor skills. This unique tool
is actually two
different tools
in one since each
end of the spoon
has a different
texture. Children initially
can use this
flexible, soft spoon for oral exploration to provide
the sensory experiences that increase oral sensory
comfort. The surface textures act as a bridge to introducing textured foods for children who are ready
to transition from smooth purees. The speed bump
end stimulates the upper lip as it moves across the
spoon bowl. This sensory input can facilitate central
lip activity for removing food from the spoon.
CMF-27–02 –Duo-Spoon (2 pk)– $9.95
CMO-18–02 – Ps & Qs– $7.25
The OrbiTeether The
colorful OrbiTeether provides
six different textured surfaces
for teething, mouth play and
oral exploration. Four of the
surfaces are flat with different
horizontally grooved textures
that can be used to introduce early spoon-feeding
during play. It becomes a bridge-tool into spoonfeeding when children have had negative experiences with regular spoons. The two rounded surfaces
offer additional shape and texture experiences. This
is an extremely versatile
mouth toy that can be
used in many different
ways. Its satellite shape
is particularly inviting
for older children who
need mouthing experience
but reject “baby toys”.
Designed with a leading
child development expert.
The OrbiTeether is 4” in
diameter.
CMO-84–01 – Orbi-Teether– $6.50

The Tri Chew is constructed of a chewy and
resilient material that invites oral exploration and
discriminative mouthing, The ridges, bumps
and swirls on each end
offer input similar to that
found in textured food.
Sensory input to the
lips, gums and tongue is
provided by the textured
sides. The triangular
shape makes it easy for children to hold.

First Teeth Toothpaste is recommended
by physicians and dentists for young children.
This is a 100% ingestible paste with no saccharine
or flouride, no artificial colors or flavors, and no
harmful preservatives. It is totally safe to swallow.
It preserves teeth through the addition of the natural
enzyme biotene lactoper-oxidase which is also found
in mother’s milk and saliva. Children love the real
apple-banana flavor. 1.4 ounces.
Gerber’s Lil’ Dipper was designed to introduce
older babies to early self-feeding skills. Long before
babies have the coordination to hold a spoon and
feed themselves, they are interested in reaching for
the spoon and playing in a bowl of food with their
fingers. Here’s a transition utensil that invites them
to dip, enjoy the food, and learn the first stage of
feeding themselves with a utensil. with minimal skill
and maximum success. The round, thick handles
are easy for the child to hold and have a spiral or
dotted texture to provide stimulation to the hands
or mouth. The short, flat dipper tip has grooves on
both sides to help the food stick, making it easy for
children to suck food off the dipper. A soft mouth
shield helps the child learn to put only the tip into
the mouth and prevents jabbing and gagging.
The Lil’ Dipper can be used as an oral-motor tool
to stimulate tongue and lip movement. It can be
used to offer tiny tastes of food when children are
just learning to eat by mouth.
CMF-19–02 – Lil’ Dipper– $5.50
CMO-69-01 – First Teeth Toothpaste– $4.95
Our blue Fish Massager provides a gentle
massaging vibration when you squeeze his sides.
His big eyes invite lip and tongue exploration. He’s
waterproof and designed to be used during bathtub
play. The Fish Massager can be used to introduce
soft food tastes from his head or eyes when children
enjoy facial vibration.
CMO-29-01– Fish Massager– $15.95
NEW
Kids love our big Duckie Massager. He
vibrates quietly when you press his back and absolutely invites children’s kisses and mouth play. He’s
even waterproof so he’s welcome in the bathtub.
We’ve used the Duckie Massager to introduce soft
food tastes from his head or beak when children
enjoy vibration on the face and lips.

Oral-Motor Tools
Oral motor tools are a special
group of “tools” designed to
stimulate specific movements
or sensory inputs to the mouth
and face.
They must always be used for
a specific therapeutic purpose
under adult supervision.
The rounded head of the
NUK Massage
Brush is a soft nubby “brush” that provides valu-
able sensory input to the child’s mouth. The NUK
brush was designed to stimulate the gums of infants
who were teething.
Therapists and parents have found it
a valuable tool for
providing gentle stimulation of the tongue, gums and
cheeks of children with oral-sensory and oral-motor
problems. The brushy surface holds a tiny amount of
food or liquid and can be used to provide additional
sensory input when used as an initial spoon. Use
one for each child.

The ARK’s Probe is a valuable tool for oral motor treatment and sensory input. Different textures
on each side of the rectangular end of this mouth
tool provide varied opportunities for building
tactile awareness
and enhancing oral sensation. One side has small
ridges while the other side is covered with small
raised dots. These specific textures contrast with the
smooth texture of the other surfaces. Use this tool to
stroke and apply gentle pressure to the gums, inner
cheeks, palate and tongue. The Probe holds tiny
amounts of food when dipped in a puree. Use it as
a first spoon for children who need stronger sensory
input to organize tongue movements for sucking and
swallowing. 5” long. Made of medical grade plastic.
Use one for each child.

The Jaw Rehabilitation Program is a step-by-step series of oral motor goals and objectives to
develop biting and chewing skills. The progression of treatment presented in the program
is delineated into seven outcome levels. Goals and objectives in Level I and II target the
development of prerequisite sensory and motor skills. Goals and objectives in Level III
through VII follow a progression of treatment to facilitate and strengthen functional patterns of mandibular movement. All treatment is practiced using Chewy Tubes rather than
real food. The Jaw Rehabilitation Program is appropriate for children above the age of 10
months who are ready to transition from pureed textures to more advanced food textures.
The program comes with a durable hardcover manual, 25 Jaw Assessment Forms, 3 red

The Z-Vibe is a low-frequency vibrating oralmotor tool that can be used to stimulate the gums,
palate, jaw, tongue and cheeks. A thin “motorized”
durable aluminum handle vibrates and provides
the stimulation to a removable tip on one end of the
tool. A flat “probe tip” comes with the Z-Vibe and
screws into the handle. The size of the tip and it’s
shape allows easy access to
all areas of the mouth. Additional interchangeable Z-Vibe
Tips can be purchased separately. These screw into the
end of the Z-Vibe, providing
input that can be customized
to each client’s stimulation
needs. Although these water
resistant tips can be sanitized, we recommend that
you purchase individual tips for each client. All nonlatex tips are constructed of medical grade materials
that are FDA approved.
The Double Z-Vibe has two vibrating ends.
One end provides the same stronger level of vibration found in the regular
Z-Vibe. The vibration of the
second end is very mild and
can be used with children
whose mouths are more
sensitive. The dual ends allow you to alternate the use
of two different tips during
the same therapy session.
The Double Z-Vibe comes
with both the Probe and Preefer tips. Both versions
of the Z-Vibe have a long life battery that is easily
replaced. These are tools that don’t get outdated.

Oral Feeding
Oral Feeding
Oral feeding is supported
by the selection of feeding
equipment that fits the child’s
mouth and special sensorimotor needs. In order to choose
equipment that enhances the
child’s feeding abilities, we
must understand the purpose
and selection criteria for a
piece of equipment. Spoons
with shallow bowls, for example, make it easier for the
child to use the top lip to remove food. Coated spoons
and firm plastic spoons do not
transmit strong temperature
and taste sensations to the
child’s mouth. This is very
important if a child experiences oral discomfort. Our
selection of bottles, nipples,
cups, straws, spoons, dishes,
and food preparation and
protection items will delight
you with their diversity and
utility. Transition items reflect
the creative use of materials
often designed for other purposes in enhancing the feeding journey.
Haberman Feeder
Mini-Haberman Feeder were
The highly efficient
and
designed for babies with sucking difficulties.
This special bottle-nipple combination is so effective and easy to use. The Haberman Feeder
responds to the baby’s tongue and gum pressure
rather than sucking. Even the slightest effort is
rewarded. The slit valve in the silicone nipple
permits precise regulation of the milk flow. Depending on how the slit is oriented in the baby’s
mouth, the flow ranges from zero to maximum.
A one-way valve prevents backflow and flooding from overwhelming the baby. Turbulence is
prevented by a special vent that admits air to
the bottle at the same rate that liquid enters the
baby’s mouth. If the baby cannot nurse at all,
or just needs a little help,
pressure on the reservoir
behind the teat delivers a
controlled amount of liquid into the baby’s mouth.
The Haberman Feeder
is not appropriate for
babies who have difficulty swallowing.
The Haberman
Feeder comes
with a 3-ounce
(80 ml) or 5-ounce (150 ml) bottle and
the long Haberman Nipple. The MiniHaberman Feeder comes with a 3-ounce
(80 ml) bottle and the slightly shorter
Mini-Haberman Nipple. The bottles
and silicone nipples are interchangable,
making it easy to use the Haberman
and Mini-Haberman Nipples with either
size bottle. Replacement parts are available. Call for information and pricing.

Oral Feeding
Medela’s SoftFeeder is one of
the most versatile feeding utensils
we’ve ever discovered. It was specifically designed as a “cup” to give
breast milk to babies who are unable
to nurse. Cup feeding avoids nipple
confusion, takes very little energy
and helps develop some of the good
feeding mechanics that improve the
chances of successful breast-feeding
later on. We’ve used the SoftFeeder with older infants
and toddlers who
are having problems
learning to drink
from a cup. The
revolutionary design
gives more control
than traditional cups.
By incorporating a
valve and self-refilling reservoir, the
feeder maintains a
steady supply of just the right amount of liquid. The
Softfeeder is made of soft, pliable pure silicone and
includes a standard Medela 80-ml bottle.
Finger feeding an infant
with sucking difficulties offers many physiological and
psychological benefits. It promotes proper and sequential
contraction of the
tongue, jaw and
lips, and provides
stimulation of the
mid-portion of the
tongue where the
nipple is drawn.
Finger feeding is
the only therapeutic
method that provides the touch of
human skin as in
breastfeeding. This skin-to-mouth tissue contact
enhances feedback between the caregiver and baby.
Finger feeding also allows the baby to pace the
feed. The Hazelbaker FingerFeeder
is designed to provide an easy and efficient way to
stimulate the infant’s suck while providing a gentle
flow of milk. Milk is placed in the bulb feeder and
the attached thin tubing is taped to the adult’s finger.
As the finger provides stimulation for sucking, milk
is gently released into the mouth.

The Honey Bear Straw Bottle is an ideal
tool for teaching children as young as
8 months to drink from a straw. Just
gently squeeze the bear and watch the
liquid rise to the top of the straw. You
can control the flow of the liquid as you
encourage the child to begin sucking
movements. Gradually reduce your
assistance as the child learns to suck
independently. The screw-on lid keeps
the straw securely in place and reduces
spilling when the child holds the bear. This is an
easy straw-cup for a child to hold with one hand.

The KidCo Baby Food Mill treats children
to the wholesome goodness of fresh fruits and vegetables, home-cooked meats and casseroles. Food is
forced through a medical grade stainless steel grinder, creating a fine lumpy

the child for a later
transition to mashed
table foods. The upper portion of the
grinder turns into a

The unique design of the Stay Put Cutleryby
Trendy Kid helps accelerate mouthing and selffeeding skills. Made
of soft durable plastic
with slightly up turned
tips to help keep food
secure, the easy to grip
contoured handles allow infants to grasp
with ease. The attached
spiral cord develops hand to mouth coordination
as the uncoiling action directs the food to mouth
with ease and retracts as more food is picked up.
This recoiling action
helps children discover
the movement patterns
required when feeding
themselves. Suction
pads adhere to nonporous surfaces like
high chair trays so the
utensils ‘stay put’ and
don’t fall on the floor.
Children who are just
learning about utensils can develop mouthing and
mouth exploration skills during a family mealtime.
They can do this independently because the utensils
stay on the tray thanks to drop-proof, throw-proof
suction cups. These utensils are designed for children
between the ages of 9 and 24 months.

The Sip-Tip™ Cup with its one-way valve
makes it easy for children to learn to drink from a
straw. Place the Selective Flow Valve in the bottom
of a clear flexible straw. Use
the specially designed clear
plastic glass and flexible
lid for drinking. Liquid
moves up the straw when
you press on the plastic lid
or when the child takes a
sip. The valve keeps the
straw full of liquid! This
minimizes air intake with
each suck and reduces the
amount of energy needed to
bring liquid into the mouth.
Children can learn to drink

The Baby Safe Feeder replaces the
homemade gauze and string bags that therapists
have used to teach children to chew. Each Feeder
is made from a solid plastic handle with a screw-on
ring. A small nylon mesh bag is firmly attached to
the ring for convenience and safety.
Put fresh food in the feeder bag and
let the child explore and chew safely.
Food particles are held in the bag

rinse. Top-rack dishwasher safe. A set of 4 Baby

Positioning
Positioning
Equipment
The mouth is connected
to every part of the body.
When a child’s body is tense
or floppy, the mouth will
not function well. Total patterns of extension, flexion,
or asymmetry in the body
pull the jaw, tongue, and
lips into similar patterns.
For example, when the child
pushes back into extension,
the tongue and lips may retract. This makes it harder to
use the lips and tongue efficiently. Children with low
tone tire easily during feeding. They often try to stabilize themselves by elevating
the shoulder girdle and resting the head back. Providing support for the body
and neck during play and at
mealtime will help mouth
skills improve. The physical
comfort and support of the
adult is also essential in the
mealtime partnership.

in the classroom, therapy room, or at home. These
chairs are also perfect for pre-school and schoolage children who need just a little support during

Heartbeat Musical Therapy
recordings (originally known as “Baby Go to Sleep”) were
developed by a sound engineer who orchestrated
the human heart-beat to traditional lullabies and
nursery songs. Parents use the CDs to help children
fall asleep. We’ve found
another valuable way to
incorporate them into
our therapy programs.
Our kids like to move to
this music! Each song
has a very pronounced
rhythm because of the
underlying heart-beat.
The tempo of each piece
has been slowed down to correspond with the
heart rate.
These recordings provide the ideal background
for slow, guided movement. They are particularly
valuable with children who are disorganized or
have difficulty regulating sensory input. The clearly
defined rhythm and slow tempo are calming and
organizing for these children. Children often accept
touch and are more interested in movement or oral
play when activities are incorporated into the songs
of the Heartbeat Musical Therapy series.

Binaural Beats
Hemi-Sync®
The Monroe Institute has
developed binaural beat audio technologies that help
adults and children learn
more easily and effortlessly.
Developed by Robert Monroe, Hemi-Sync is an audio
tool that facilitates the synchronization of electrical
wave patterns in the left and
right hemispheres of the
brain—an optimal condition
for improving human performance. To accomplish this,
Hemi-Sync uses blended and
sequenced sound patterns,
which gently lead into focused, whole-brain states of
awareness. Metamusic is a
blend of music and binaural
beat Hemi-Sync sounds.

Homemade Blended Formula
Handbook
by Marsha Dunn Klein, M.Ed., OTR and Suzanne
Evans Morris, Ph.D.
The Homemade Blended Formula Handbook offers
the reader an integral way of thinking about providing meals for children–meals that are nourishing
physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
It’s primary focus is to offer a deep understanding of how to create tube
feeding meals that are compiled from foods that are
available to all children and
families. It provides a guide
to the process from the initial concept to the development of formulas that offer
dietary diversity and highlevel nutrition. It focuses on
the continuum that identifies the best fit for each child and each family.
At its deepest level this is a book about children and
their families. It is a book about mealtimes as a focal
point in the life of the child, family and community.
It offers practical ways of including children
who receive their nutrition by feeding tube
into the life of the mealtime community. It celebrates their unique contributions, in partnership with the person who feeds them.
The book is designed as a reference and “how to”
for parents and professionals who together are
making the choice to try a homemade blended diet
for tube feeding. 35 reproducible chapters and 16
food references charts have been written by feeding therapists, dietitians, physicians and parents.

Focusing the Whole Brain
Transforming Your Life with
Hemispheric Synchronization
Edited by Ronald Russell (2004)
For more than twenty years, The Monroe Institute,
founded by Robert Monroe, a significant figure in
the use of sounds to guide consciousness, has used
a patented process known as Hemi-Sync® to guide
listeners in focusing different states of awareness to
increase their personal skills and abilities. Focusing the Whole Brain is a compendium written by
Hemi-Sync users describing the myriad applications
of this ground-breaking technology, including uses
in medicine, business, science, schools and homes.
Forty-five contributors ranging from scientists and
doctors to teachers and therapists demonstrate
Hemi-Sync’s potential uses in childhood development, therapy with children who have feeding
disorders, psychotherapy, sleep research, treating
autism and A.D.D., overcoming depression and
addictions and more.
The accompanying CD, “The Way of Hemi-Sync”,
provides a clear example of how the Hemi-Sync
sound frequencies are created. An extended section enables listeners to begin their own Hemi-Sync
experience.

Happiness is a Choice
by Barry Neil Kaufman (1992)
Effective programs for children with feeding problems depend equally upon “what we do” and
“how we do it.” Happiness is
a Choice provides the ingredients for the how of therapy. The
Option Process approaches
each child and family from a
base of happiness and knowledge that change comes most
easily when approached from a
base of unconditional love and
acceptance of each individual.
Barry Kaufman has observed that people who are
most successful in finding happiness share certain
traits. He has used these traits to create six shortcuts
to happiness that you can begin using immediately.

co-author of Pre-Feeding Skills
“Tube Feedings are Mealtimes,
Too”
This video is for parents and professionals working with infants and young children who are
about to receive, or currently have, supplementary
tube feedings. The video
provides clear, supportive
information with demonstrations and discussion on
how to take the “procedure”
out of tube feeding children
and create a mealtime that
supports a loving, trusting
feeding relationship.
DVD format – 17 minutes
V-1001-01 Tube Feeding Mealtimes – $58.95
“Taking Tube Feedings to
School”
This video describes the steps involved in sending
tube fed children to school. It
emphasizes ways of providing information to the school,
classroom teacher and other
students that leads to understanding that tube feeding is
just another way in which a
child can eat. The video is
packed with supportive and
practical information for both
parents and schools.
DVD format – 17 minutes
V-1003-01 Tube Feedings to School – $58.95
“The Journey from Tube Feeding
Toward Oral Feeding”
This video is created for parents and professionals working with tubefed children to provide
information, strategies,
and support as they help
their child along the continuum from tube feeding
toward oral feeding. The
approach is based on the
belief that children move
toward oral feeding best
in an environment based
on sensory confidence
and trust. It includes
many practical suggestions for this journey.
DVD format – 26 minutes
V-1002-01 Tube Feeding Mealtimes – $68.95
“The ‘Get Permission’ Approach to
Mealtime and Oral Motor
Treatment”
The “Get Permission” approach outlines a treatment
method based on the principles of healthy, trusting
feeding relationships. Oral
motor skills and mealtime
treatment are most successful when the adults set
goals and follow the child’s
pace. It focuses on reading
the child’s cues and moving
forward as the child “gives
permission.” Created as a
teaching tape for therapists
interested in feeding and
oral motor treatment, this
video will be helpful in any
teaching setting for feeding
and oral motor therapists,
as well as for parents.

Mealtime Partners Program
Our popular
Mealtime Partners
Program, open to parents and professionals, is
based on the premise that children are born with
the inner ability to eat and to grow appropriately.
During infancy they learn to interact with adults
as they expand their eating skills and enjoy
both the food and the mealtime environment.
Some children experience a disruption of this
normal cycle because of difficulties in physical,
sensory, structural, and environmental skills
and opportunities. Coordination problems
may interfere with the ability to suck, swallow
or chew food. Sensory processing difficulties
can contribute to stress and discomfort during
eating. Gastrointestinal discomfort contributes a
negative association between food and the desire
to eat. Parents and therapists often respond to
the child’s difficulty with eating or eating refusal
with pressure and an attempt to control the type
and amount of food that the child eats. Battles for
control disrupt the entire mealtime and reduce
eating to an unpleasant contest for everyone.
Mealtime Partners is based on a trust model
of intervention, which is reflected at every level
of the program. Children inherently want to
eat and want to interact with the partners who
share the meal with them. When they do not,
something is getting in the way. Identification
of the roadblocks that limit the development of
eating skills and comfort is essential in helping
children return to their natural desire to be part
of mealtimes. The mealtime and the child’s
comfort and desire to learn to eat are the most
important elements of the Mealtime Partners
Program. Strategies designed to increase physical
coordination, sensory processing and integration,
gastrointestinal comfort, communication and
oral-motor control are incorporated to support
the child’s eating skill and desires. All children
can participate in a shared mealtime that is happy
and rewarding for both the child and family.
and concrete strategies to support the
child, parent and therapist in the following
components of a mealtime program:
• Beliefs and Attitudes
• Oral Feeding
• Mealtime Communication
• Sensory Processing
• Gastrointestinal Comfort
• Positioning and Movement
• Mealtime Partnership
The Mealtime Partners Program includes three

concepts and strategies underlying mealtimes
for infants and children.

2. FOUNDATIONAL LEVEL

3. ADVANCED LEVEL

The three levels of the program are completed

phase of the program. Parents and professionals
may go as far into the programmed sequence
as they desire.
