I My Me Strawberry Eggs
In what is essentially a take on "Super Sentai" / Power Ranger
style shows, five heroes clad in red, gray, moss green, sepia
and salmon pink must defend the world from — you guessed
it — invading aliens.
The year is 2087, and humanity is about to lose its position
as the dominant life form on planet Earth. An endless swarm
of biomechanical beings known as the Venomoids descend
from space. Earth's Space Knights are no match for the
Venemoid champions, the Teknomen. When the young pilots
Ringo Richards and Star Summers find a wounded stranger
named Blade, humanity gains one last hope. Blade is able
to transform into a Teknoman, but he has no memories and
fights to protect Earth. His opponents are not only the endless
alien menace, but also the other Teknomen — who were
once human, and his family and friends.
Amawa Hibiki is a young man just out of college, with an
education to be an athletics teacher. He's been having a hard
time finding a job since he graduated, so all his money has
gone towards living expenses. When his landlady demands
his first payment to live in her living establishment up-front,
he heads to the local middle school to get hired as a teacher.
However, the principal refuses to hire him without hesitation.
She will not hire men as teachers and makes it clear that she
hates all men, saying they put no love into their passions
and work. Amawa does not give up and with the help of
his landlady, he crossdresses as a woman without a second
thought, and gets hired, so he can earn money and also prove
the principal wrong. Now, he has to keep his real gender a
secret, and avoid strange situations, including the affections
of his students (from both genders).
The Heroic Legend of Arslan
Betrayed and overwhelmed by dark sorcery, the armies of Pars
are overrun by the warrior-fanatics of Rucitania. Escaping the
destruction of his homeland, Prince Arslan assembles a group
of extraordinary allies — a priestess, an exiled warrior, a
mischievous minstrel, an insightful artist and his attendant
— to aid his fight against these invaders. They must build
an army and defeat 300,000 trained soldiers led by the
mysterious Lord Silver Mask, who has claimed the throne of
Pars....
Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time
One rainy day, Akane crosses paths with a kind young man
who tacitly offers her his coat. On their second encounter, he
confesses that he has no recollection of who he is, his name or
his past, but feels contented by just being with her. Besotted,
Akane sets out to find his name, and to unravel his enigmatic
connection with a famous cursed dance rumored to kill
anyone who attempts to perform it.
Kids on the Slope
Summer 1966: Kaoru Nishimi has moved to live with relatives
in Ky_sh_. He's been an aloof honor student his whole life,
but that starts changing when he meets Sentar_ Kawabuchi,
the school's notorious bad boy. Through him, he learns the
appeal of jazz and forms his first real friendships.
Listen to Me, Girls. I am Your Father!
College student Y_ta Segawa is suddenly given custody of
his older sister's three daughters, aged 14, 10, and 3. They're
now stuck living together in a 10 square meter apartment.
Meanwhile Raika, the object of his affection, has a fondness
of cuteness, and his unexpected arrivals may finally offer an
opportunity for them to get together.
Hellsing Ultimate
Vampires exist. It is the duty of Hellsing, a secret organization
sponsored by the British government, to hide that frightening
fact and protect the blissfully unaware populace. Along
with its own personal army, Hellsing has secret weapons.
Alucard, an incredibly powerful vampire, has been controlled
by Hellsing for years. It is unclear how he feels about being
a servant to the Hellsing family, but he certainly enjoys his
job as a vampire exterminator. Seras is a fledgling vampire
and former police woman. Although reluctant to embrace
her new self, she is a valued member of the organization.
Integra Hellsing, the current leader, is usually fully capable of
fulfilling her duty, but lately, vampire activity has been on the
rise. Unfortunately, the cause is more alarming than anything
she could have imagined. A group long thought dead has
been plotting in secret since their apparent destruction over
50 years ago - plotting to plunge England, and perhaps the
entire world, into war.
Angelic Layer
12-year-old Misaki Suzuhara has just gotten involved in
Angelic Layer, a battling game using electronic dolls called
angels. Even as a newbie, Misaki shows advanced skills as she
meets new friends and enters Angelic Layer tournaments to
fight the greatest Angelic Layer champions of the nation.
Jungle Emperor Leo
Leo is a white lion cub, the son of the jungle emperor Panja.
Leo is kind to other animals, a bad hunter and afraid of
jumping over crevices. This causes the prey and other animals
to ridicule him and his father who likes humans. Koko, a
female bird, is the only one who believes in Leo. Leo and all
the other animals live on a fake island created by humans to
save nature. This project is lead by Director Ooyama (male)
and Professor Hikawa (female). Ooyama also brought his son,
Ken'ichi, who can talk with animals, but no one believes that.
Riding Bean
Bean Bandit and his partner Rally Vincent are couriers for hire
— transporting clients and delivering goods in his custom
sports car "Roadbuster" for a hefty price. But when they are
hired to escort a kidnapped girl named Chelsea to her home,
they don't realize they're being framed for kidnapping as their
former clients Semmerling and Carrie plan their escape with
Chelsea's father and the ransom money.
Psychic Squad
In a world where ESP is common, only three people have them
at the highest possible level — Level 7. Those three are the
special ESP team, The Children. The Children work for BABEL,
a special ESPer organization committed to stopping crimes
before they happen. Kouichi Minamoto is assigned to watch
over them, and he'll need to, because three superpowered
ten-year-olds are a problem on their own.
Hetalia: Axis Powers
Italy, once home of the strongest empire in the world, has
changed. This is the story of Italy, now a cowardly pasta-loving
fool, and his friends (other personified countries of the world)
as they live through strange moments in world history.
Kampher
Sen_ Natsuru is your normal, everyday high school student.
However, he's been chosen to be a Kampfer, who's objective
consists on fighting other Kampfer with either guns, swords
or magic. However, there's catch — first, you can't chose if
you're a Kampfer or not, and second, you must have the body
of a girl to use your powers.
Here is Greenwood
Hasukawa Kazuya is in a terrible bind. His brother's new wife
is also the woman that Kazuya secretly loves. Determined to
avoid them both, Kazuya leaves home to live in the student
dorm called Greenwood. There, he hopes to find peace of
mind. Unfortunately for Kazuya, stability and peace are the
last things one might find at Greenwood — home of the
weirdest characters on campus.
Magic User's Club
The aliens have been defeated, and the Bell has been
transformed into a gigantic cherry tree. Now, the brave Magic
User's Club must reconvene to deal with a new problem.
Apparently, some inconsiderate persons left a skyscraper
sized cherry tree in the middle of Tokyo, and it's become a
major inconvenience to everyone in the city. Even though they
have no idea who could have done such a thing, the Club feels
strangely responsible and springs into action. Meanwhile, a
mysterious person is spying on the magic club in the form of
a small boy.
Armored Trooper Votoms
The end of the 100 year war between the planets Bavalant
and Melkia does not allow Melkian soldier Chirico Cuvie a
moment of peace. His accidental involvement in a clandestine
mission places him in danger, requiring him to escape and
attempt to survive on what is left of his war-torn homeworld.

faster, slipping away from you in great chunks if you don’t hold
tightly onto it. Time is a pretty pony, with a wicked heart.
Willa by Mikhail Tank

Lloyd the Conqueror
Skull World
Lloyd hasn't conquered much in his life, but he really needs to
save his C average.
Greg Sommer is an enigma, wrapped inside a mystery,
encased in a Jean-Jacket Vest. An enterprising man in his early
30s, Greg, and his alter-ego Skull Man, are at war: Box Wars
that is.
After a night of video games and procrastination, Lloyd and
his best friends, Patrick and Oswald, have slacked their way
into losing their student funding. The trio's only hope lies
with their arrogant and quite “dick-ish” Medieval Literature
professor, Derek. To save their mediocre academic careers,
the guys enter a dark pact with their teacher who needs
fresh victims to claim another Grand Championship in the
imaginary world of Demons & Dwarves.
Unbeknownst to them, this simple quest for a passing grade
will take them into the hilarious and nerdy world of LARP'ing
(Live Action Role Play). White wizards, bearded unicorns and
coked-up centaurs are but a few of the colorful characters the
boys will cross paths with on their way to battle Derek the
Unholy.
Will Lloyd and his allies rally the forces of light against the
Dark Horde? Will Lloyd win the girl of his dreams, a beautiful
ex-cage fighting elf warrior? Will the guys oversleep and miss
the whole tournament? It will be a battle of epic, epic-ness
fought by Lloyd the Conqueror!
Welcome to Greg’s world. A world of warriors, magic, and
glory. A world of metal. Greg is building the Canadian-chapter
of Box Wars, an international underground movement of
Cardboard-based combat. Skull World follows two years in
the life of Greg and sheds light on exactly what makes him,
and his goals in life, so unique. A comedic and moving journey
awaits; not for the faint of heart.
Full Metal Panic! — Come Make My Day
Full Metal Panic! — Come Make My Day is a short film
based on the novel by Shoji Gatoh. Shannon Kummer
stars as Teletha “Tessa” Testarossa, who finds herself in a
hospital trying to convince a psychologist that her stories
of commanding a submarine for a secretive mercenary
organization aren't crazy delusions. Screening presented
by the director and crew, with an introduction to the FMP!
series and a brand new, feature-length Full Metal Panic!
project based on Continuing On My Own. Screening and panel
followed by Q&A.

with Hank Schwaeble, Rachel Caine, Ashley Nemer, Rachel Harris,
Gerry Bartlett, Lee Lackey
1:00–1:55 pm • Workshop Room 3 • PG13
There are many nuances to being a writer. The writer must
know how to create a captivating story and hold a reader’s
attention, but people don’t realize that there are important
little things that writers should — but generally do not —
do. These little things include joining a writing group, having
peer critiques (either in person or remotely), learning how to
properly query publishers, finding an agent, networking in
their local and regional areas, and utilizing social media.

Catching the Unicorn:
Supporting the Girl Comic Book Reader
with Rebecca Denham of the Harris County Public Library
2:00–2:55 pm • Panel Room 3 • G
Comic book reader. The term often generates the image of
a geeky guy in a fan-boy t-shirt who excels at being socially
awkward. A 2011 survey using data about people who
identify as comic book readers found that only 25% of readers
are female — most between the ages of 18 and 45. This is
different from manga readers, where 60% are female. How
do we encourage teen girls to pick up a comic? This panel
will address issues with female comic book readership and
provide ideas for “catching the unicorn.”

The trend in Comic TV and films is to re-imagine a franchise.
It’s costly and risky to change a popular franchise so why are
there so many reboots; and does that hurt a franchise? Since
characters in a story are always evolving, is it necessary to
completely re-launch a franchise? Do we really need origin
films every time a franchise is re-launched? Why were film
franchises such as Star Trek and Batman able to break the
three film franchise curse, and which comic book movie will
be the first to jump that hurdle? Join us for a lively analysis.

constructive. In many instances, good habits can make a good
writer, and that’s the focus of this panel. Topics may include
writing every day; having an uncluttered work space; taking
frequent breaks; reading out loud; setting a stopping point
and actually following it each day; setting writing aside and
returning to it weekly; and writing at the same time each day.
