What Is the NHA?
The National Healthcareer Association was
established in 1989 with the vision of
implementing national competency
standards to promote patient safety and
as an information resource and support
network for allied healthcare professionals
and the healthcare industry. The health
career field continues to be one of the fastest growing
segments of every nation's economy, demanding an ever
increasing number of professionally trained, career-oriented
individuals. With the increasing demand for personnel, the need
for an agency dedicated to quality assurance; certifying the
competency of newly trained professionals; and ensuring
awareness of innovations and advancements within the
healthcare community is vital to patient care and safety.
The main functions of the NHA are:
Building certification examinations and competency
assessments which are used as benchmarks for national
industry standards and frameworks;
Developing allied healthcare curriculum and
implementing programs that serve hospitals, unions and
schools;
Providing Continuing Education Credits for the benefit of
maintaining industry standards;
Offering membership services for Allied Healthcare
Professionals to assist them in securing employment and
advancement in their careers.
Since 1989, NHA National Certification Exams have been
offered in all 50 states. More than 200,000 national certifications
have been issued in over 1300 testing locations, making the NHA
the largest Allied Healthcare Certification Agency throughout the
country.
Why Should I Become Nationally Certified?
Having an NHA certification demonstrates to the healthcare
industry that NHA certified professionals and students are
proficient in their specific area of study. Obtaining NHA
certification can give you the competitive edge you need. It
separates the serious from the non-serious, and may very well be
the deciding factor in obtaining a job or promotion.
The NHA is endorsed and approved by a wide range of health care
organizations including colleges, vocational schools, hospitals,
state agencies, state health departments and Departments of
Education throughout the country.
