This leaflet is designed to help you minimise
the amount of waste produced in your area.
• Rather than rushing out to buy a replacement, consider
having items such as lawnmowers and hoovers fixed.
• Clothes and shoes can be altered and repaired too.

Use Otley’s new green bins to recycle paper, cardboard, cans
and plastic types 1, 2 and 4 (look on the bottom of the plastic item
for a number in a triangle). Glass cannot be recycled in the green
bins so look on the map for your nearest glass bank.

Don’t forget to take your reusable bag when you go shopping
and refuse free plastic bags. Otley Farmers Markets will soon
be launching its own reusable bag.

Buy loose fruit and vegetables rather than pre-packaged foods.

disposable nappies. Otley’s parents are eligible to claim a free real
