Sun (Sunscreen) Safety June 7th, 2016 The Last Day of School Are we there yet? The Sun … Don’t Be Afraid Like all things, in moderate amounts, it’s good. A little bit is beneficial A lot can be harmful Ultraviolet (UV) rays a part of sunlight an invisible radiation. UV rays can penetrate and change the structure of skin cells. Sunscreen is a great tool: It helps limit (reduce) the amount of solar radiation you “consume” Who doesn’t get this? Which Brand of Sunscreen? The final choice is up to you. Hint: If you can’t pronounce it, you know it’s going to be expensive. Walmart Ultra Protection SPF 50 Lotion It’s got a 94% score … rated “Excellent” And it’s very economical (read cheap) $0.49 per ounce … $7.85 each If I were forced to use a Sunscreen Spray Trader Joe's Spray SPF 50+ Spray It’s got a 100% score And it’s the most economical of the sprays $1.00 per ounce … $6.00 each Do your own research … Buy whatever you think is best. Just buy something … And use it. Before you use “last year’s” Sunscreen … Remember, it only works if you are wearing it! Apply it 30 minutes before you go outside.
