Cable Modem LEDs
Bestdata CMX110 When the AC adapter is first connected, the cable modem will initialize itself, while displaying a series of flashing patterns on the front panel LED incdicators. When the cable modem is operating properly the POWER light should be lit; the CABLE light should be lit; the PC light should be lit; the DATA light may flash; and the TEST light should be off. Toshiba PCX1000 Series (PCX1000, PCX1100 and PCX1100U) Toshiba PCX2000 Series (PCX2000, PCX2200 and PCX2500) Power – Off – No power – Verify power supply connections and electrical outlet, also make sure the outlet is not connected to a switch. Cable – Off/Blinking – No downstream RF carrier present/downstream RF – Verify cable connections and try resetting the modem. If cable is ok & modem reset doesn’t work, call technical support. Cable – Solid – None – Sold for the Cable Modem registered and ready to transfer data. PC – Off – Modem does not ‘see’ the PC – Verify Ethernet cable connections, the TCP/IP settings and the NIC. You might need to reinstall the NIC drivers. If any of this does not work, call technical support. PC – Solid – None – PC has Ethernet connection. Data – On/Blinking – None – Data is being passed through the modem. Data – Off – None – No data is being passed through the modem. Test – On – Bad Modem – Try resetting the modem. If this does not work, call technical support. RCA DCM-105 RCA DCM205, DCM235, DCM245, DCM305 Power – Indicates whether the cable modem is in stand-by or active mode. The light is off when the modem is in stand-by mode and on when the power is activated. PC Link – Indicates whether the connection is active (ready to transmit or receive) or is actually in the process of transmitting or receiving. The light is off when no carrier is present and there is no transmit or receive activity, and it flashes when there is transmit or receive activity. Cable – Indicates the status of the cable connection. The light is off when no cable connection is detected or the modem is in stand-by mode. The light flashes when the cable connection is detected but not yet ready to send or receive data. It is fully lit when the modem is registered with the network and data can be sent or received. Activity – Indicates the existence of data traffic in the cable line. The light is off when no data traffic is present. It flashes when data activity exists. Email – The light is off when no email exists. It flashes when you have email. This is dependent upon the ISP. Power – Off – Not receiving power Power – Solid Green – Receiving power Cable – Off – Not detecting signal from the cable network Cable – Solid Green – Modem is online and ready to transmit data Cable – Slow, Blinking Green – Detecting signal and trying to connect to cable network Cable – Fast, Blinking Green – Rebooting is in progress PC – Off – Not establishing ethernet connection PC – Solid Green – Ethernet connection is established Data – Off – Not transmitting data Data – Blinking Green – Modem is transmitting data Test – Off – Ready to use after initial self-test, or not receiving power Test – Blinking Amber – Initial self-test in progress or software downloading is in progress Test – Solid Amber – Self-test failed PWR – Indicates whether power is being supplied to the modem. This LED is steady green when the odem is powered. LAN – Indicates the status of the modem’s connection to your computer. This LED is steady green when a functional LAN connection (ethernet or USB) is detected. CBL – Indicates the modem’s acquisition state. This LED is steady green when the modem is fully acquired. SND – Indicates that the modem is sending data. This LED flashes green when the modem is sending data upstream. RCV – Indicates that the modem is receiving data. This LED flashes green when the modem is receiving downstream data. OPT – This LED’s function is defined by your service provider. Motorola Surfboard 3100, 4100 and 4200 (GI3100, GI4100, and GI4200) Motorola Surfboard 5100 (GI5100) Power – On – The cable modem is powered on Power – Flashing – Startup diagnostics in progress Receive – On – The downstream channel is connected Receive – Flashing – Scanning for a receive (downstream) channel connection Send – On – The upstream channel is connected Send – Flashing – Scanning for a send (upstream) channel connection Online – On – The startup process is complete Online – Flashing – Scanning for a network connection PC/Activity – On – A device, such as a computer or hub, is connected to the USB or Ethernet connectors on the back panel. PC/Activity – Flashing – Transmitting or receiving data Standby – On – Internet service is blocked because the Standby button was pressed. If this light is on, all other lights are off Standby – Flashing – This light does not flash Linksys BEFCMU10 Power – (Green) When this LED is on, it indicates that the Cable Modem is correctly supplied with power. The LED should remain lighted constantly. Activity – (Green) When this LED is on, it indicates that the Cable Modem is properly connected to your PC or other Ethernet device, either through the USB or Ethernet Port on the back of the Cable Modem. The LED flashes when data is being transmitted to or from your PC (or other Ethernet device) through the Cable Modem. Cable – (Green) This LED will blink to indicate that data is being transmitted to or from your Cable Modem to the Internet connection. Status – (Green) This LED will go through a series of flashes as the Cable Modem goes through its startup process. Once the process is complete, the LED will remain lighted to show a successful connection to your Internet Service Provider. The Cable Modem will go through this process every time power is taken away from and restored to it, or when the Reset button is pressed. This process can be fairly quick or prolonged, depending on your Provider, Internet traffic in your area, etc. If this LED is still blinking 10 minutes after the Cable Modem has been powered up or reset, it is an indication of a connection problem. 3CM2940 Cable Modem Power – Indicates power is applied to the cable modem. This light is solid green when the modem is on. Cable Modem Status – This LED varies in color (orange and green) and indicates the modem’s status as described in the following chart: LED STATE Short Off, Long Orange Orange Short Off, Short Orange Long Orange, Short Green Short Off/Short Green Green REPEATING YES NO YES YES YES NO DESCRIPTION Startup, power on self test Failed power on self test Downstream hunt Acquisition in process Offline/not authorized for service Fully operational state PC Link Status – Indicates that the cable modem is connected to the Ethernet card in your computer. This light is solid green when this link is established and your computer is turned on. PC Link Activity – Indicates that data is being transmitted to or from your PC over the Ethernet port. Flashing orange indicates traffic. This LED should blink when data is being transmitted or received over the Ethernet port. Cable Activity – Indicates that data is being transmitted to or from your cable company over the RF (cable) port. Flashing orange indicates traffic. FCN – Individual cable opeators determine the function of this LED. 3CR29210 Cable Modem Power – Indicates power is applied to the cable modem. This LED is solid green when the cable modem is on. Cable Modem Status – The color of this LED indicates the cable modems operations status as: LED STATE Blinking Red Solid Red Solid Green DESCRIPTION Cable modem is searching for a downstream channel Downstream channel is locked Registration is complete and cable modem is operational Cable Activity – This LED flashes red when data is transmitted to or from your cable company via the RF (cable) port. Flashing red indicates traffic. PC Link Ethernet – This LED indicates that data is transmitted to or from your PC via the Ethernet port. The LED is solid green when there is connection between the cable modem and an Ethernet port. If the LED is flashing green, there is traffic over the Ethernet port. If this LED is not lighted, then there is no connection between the cable modem and an Ethernet port. PC Link USB – Indicates that data is being transmitted to or from your PC over the USB port. This LED is solid green when there is a connection between the cable modem and a USB port. If the LED is flashing green, there is traffic over the USB port. If this LED is not lighted, then there is no connection between the cable modem and a USB port. 3COM2910, 3COM2920, 3COM2923
