The Government’s Enhanced Capital
Allowance (ECA) scheme has proven to
be a useful financial tool for ensuring
that maximum cost benefit is achieved
from an energy saving product proposal.
For luminaires in a retail or warehouse
environment, the current criteria is set at
60 lumens/Watt for the luminaire system
(luminaire, control gear and lamp). It is
widely accepted that the government will
increase this limit in line with the expected
increase in Part L and therefore Tamlite have
ensured that its HILUX product exceeds this
current level (up to 112 lumens/Watt) for
future proof compliance.
Needless to say, with the government’s
initiative to entice property owners to
purchase energy efficient equipment via
savings in their energy bills, the HILUX
luminaire will provide the increased
efficiency over standard compliant products
to ensure the user can meet the ‘Golden
Rule’ requirements of the Green Deal.
And of course, the government league
table has now been published for the 2nd
year of the Carbon Reduction Commitment
Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRCEE). At
the current rate of £12/tonne for their
‘carbon allowance’, businesses are being
hit hard in the pocket to reduce their
CO2 levels. Therefore, simply purchasing
products that meet Part L regulations is not
enough. Products such as HILUX, are vital if
such businesses are to lower their carbon
allowance costs quickly.

3. Optics
Tamlite Lighting’s in-house design team have developed a high-performance portfolio of reflectors
and optics to ensure that the benefits of energy-efficient lamps and gear are maximised. This
includes three T5 reflectors for narrow, wide and medium beam patterns and a bespoke solution for
the HILUX-LED range.

4. Controls
The most efficiently designed luminaire is only truly efficient if it only functions when it
needs to! VISION controls ensure lighting is only switched on when ambient light levels are
too low and people are present.
