ACTIVITIES DONE DURING FIFTH EDITION
OF THE EUROPEAN CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION WEEK
Billbords and city-lights in Warsaw and other cities in
Poland (Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Żary, Zielona Góra,
Wrocłław, Katowice, Olecko, Olsztyn) and internet banners posted
on approximately 120 websites addressed to women
Five, full pages in Glamour magazine about campaign BEAUTIFUL
BECAUSE HEALTHY and a poster in Gala magazine, as an announcement
and start of the campaign.
Glamour readership could get a pap test for free in Centrum Medyczne Damiana with a
voucher attached to the magazine in February.
„Women’s corner” located in shopping centers in Warsaw, open for general use
- CH Blue City (22nd – 24th January)
- CH Targówek (25th – 27th January)
Stands of the Flower of Womanhood and Wybierz Życie screening programme
together with stands of our sponsors such as Natural Lady i Rovers have been an
information center about cervical cancer, HPV virus and forms of prevention.
Centrum Medyczne Damiana and Organique stands were delivering an advice
on proper nutrition, diet and skin care. The consultations have been conducted
by a professional nutritionist and cosmetologist.
The volunteers were handing on leaflets and educational materials in shopping centers
about cervical cancer prevention.
On Sephora stand, the make-up artists were making a professional make-up and
advising about the basis of visage.
Glamour and Ochnik stand – stylists advised women how to fit type of clothes to
their figure, colors, materials and combination of accessories. Ochnik company
gave a samples of their products to use by the stylists.
Mammobus – women could do a mammography free of charge in a special
mammobus located in front of shopping centers.
It has been estimated, that during six days of
campaign in two shopping centers,
approximately 10 000 women received
information about the campaign „Beautiful
because healthy”.

At the ceremony many representatives of institutions involved in organizing the European Week have met
together, such as: sponsors, patrons, partners, ambassadors and media representatives.

The number of guests exceeded 150
people. We are proud of such a large
attendance.

guests could taste delicious, hand-made muffins.
The ceremony opening was preceded by the interpretation of Wislawa
Szymborska’s poem "Portrait of a Woman ", performed by Edyta Jungowska.
The guest of honour was the Generale Director of European
Cervical Cancer Association (ECCA) dr Philip Davies.
After an official openning, guests were
welcomed by Ms Ida Karpińska, the
President of the Flower of Womanhood
and Ms Anna Jurgaś, the Editor-in-chief
of Glamour magazine, the organisers of
V edition of European Cervical Cancer
Prevention Week.
An official reading of letters from the Polish First Lady Ms Anna Komorowska and
the Mayor of Warsaw Ms Hanna Gronkiewicz – Waltz.
The culminating point of ceremony was handing on the statuettes „Pearl of Wisdom” and symbolic bouquets by
Ida Karpińska and Philip Davies to the partners involved in public education about cervical cancer prevention.
„Perl of Wisdom” – the global symbol of cervical cancer prevention.
Symbolic bouquets were made with special brushes
Cervex-Brush ®. The pap test done with this brush
give a proper picture of cytology.
Anna Dereszowska, one of the campaign ambassadors, and Anna Świątczak made an amazing vocal show.
Anna Świątczak with the band introduced a song „About You” from the latest CD.
Anna Dereszowska sang the song "Aktrisa" which won first place in the
Russian Song Festival 2010 in Zielona Gora.
Marzena Rogalska led an auction of the photo with the ambassadors of
the European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.
Ambassadors (Anna Dereszowska on the
picture) have invited to auction to get as
much funds for supporting the Flower of
Womanhood.
The auction was won by Ms Jolanta
Rulewicz, the President of Love-U Polska.
The price was 1,200 PLN.
At the end of the official ceremony, Ida Karpinski thanked to all, without who the organization of the
European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week would be impossible.
Teddy bears have been handed on to „the Flowers of Womanhood” .
Delicious evening surprise – cake prepared by Grycan.
All guests have received a gift donated by our sponsors packed in bags from Centrum
Medycznego Damiana and Glamour.
