Originally the pallet manifold was designed as a back up for cylinder banks (cradles/clusters
etc.). The idea being that a distributor could keep several manifold housings and manifolds in
storage as they physically needed a little space to store. When the need arose the distributor
could simply put the required cylinders on a pallet and then slip the housing with manifold
over them....Voila! Instant cylinder cluster.
As usual, the field almost immediately found a use for them and they have started to become
a standards, rather than an alternative, to cylinder carts. Over time, several variations on the
theme have been developed. The common benefits that they all share are:
