Rigid Metal Leads for Industrial and Medical Gases
INTRODUCTION
Rigid Copper leads have been widely used and recognized as a lead material where minimum flexibility is required. Their low cost and compatibility with high pressure Oxygen gas has made them an
economical choice for a number of applications. Copper has no permeability to small gas molecules
such as hydrogen and helium. All end connections are attached by silver brazing.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3500 PSIG Rigid Copper Leads are used in many Industrial and Medical gas charging
and discharge applications. A typical application is where cylinders are permanently manifolded
together such as with cylinder carts and banks, where the leads are disconnected infrequently.
Copper is compatible with the most common Industrial, Medical and Specialty gases including
Argon, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Helium, Carbon Dioxide and Hydrogen.
SAFETY FEATURES
•
•
•
•
•
Maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) based on a 4 : 1 Safety Factor.
100% Hydrostatically tested to 1.5 times MAWP.
100% Nitrogen leak tested.
100% Externally cleaned to remove manufacturing lubricants.
100% Internally oxygen cleaned, regardless of intended service.
SAFETY CAUTION
Copper is not compatible with Acetylene. Rigid Copper leads must periodically be annealed (heated
and slow cooled) to relieve the stresses caused by bending and pressure cycling. Consult your company’s policy on annealing of rigid leads.
LEAD IDENTIFICATION RING
Weldcoa uses color coded, easy to read identification rings on all of its leads and hoses. The metal
band identifies Weldcoa as the manufacturer, the MAWP and the date of manufacture.

RIGID METAL LEADS
Product Description
1/4" 7000* PSIG Rigid Monel-400 Leads
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
Rigid Metal Leads for Industrial, Medical and Specialty Gases
INTRODUCTION
Rigid Monel-400 leads provide the maximum strength when flexibility is not important and high
pressure Oxygen is used. Their low cost compared to flexible hoses has made them an economical
choice for a number of applications. Solid metal has no permeability to small gas molecules such as
hydrogen and helium. All connections are either silver brazed or TIG welded, depending on the end
connection material.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 7000 PSIG Rigid Monel-400 Leads are used in many Industrial, Medical and
Specialty gas charging and discharge applications. A typical application is where cylinders are
permanently manifolded together such as with cylinder carts and banks, where the leads are
disconnected infrequently. Monel-400 is compatible with the most common Industrial and Specialty
gases including Oxygen, Argon, Nitrogen, Helium, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen and some reactive
gases. Monel-400 leads are particularly for use with high pressure Oxygen.
SAFETY FEATURES
Maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) based on a 4 : 1 Safety Factor.
100% Hydrostatically tested to 1.5 times MAWP.
100% Nitrogen leak tested.
100% Externally cleaned to remove manufacturing lubricants.
100% Internally oxygen cleaned, regardless of intended service.
LEAD IDENTIFICATION RING
Weldcoa uses color coded easy to read identification rings on all of its leads and hoses. The metal
band identifies Weldcoa as the manufacturer, the MAWP and the date of manufacture.

FLEXIBLE NON-METAL LINED LEADS
Product Description
1/4" 3000* PSIG PTFE Lined
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
General purpose for Industrial, Medical, and Specialty gases, smooth bore PTFE lined
leads meet or exceed CGA E-9 and SAE 100R14 specifications.
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s smooth bore PTFE leads have been the standard in the gases industry for years. This lead
utilizes a single stainless steel braid around a flexible tube. Through a process of cold head extrusion, tetraflouroetheylene powder is transformed into a smooth tube of PTFE, using only the finest
DuPont T62. Quality control methods and meticulous attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process ensure that our customers will receive a leak-free lead that will provide years of service. A proprietary post sintering process, unique to the compressed gas industry, further fuses
the PTFE material to reduce the diffusion of small molecules such as helium. This process helps
make Weldcoa’s PTFE lead products the very best in the industry.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3000 PSIG PTFE Lined Flexible Leads have been widely specified for a variety of
applications in the gases industry. These leads can be found in cylinder charging plants, cylinder
discharging applications, industrial manufacturing plants, medical institutions, pharmaceutical
manufacturing, laboratories, and numerous other facilities. Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3000 PSIG PTFE Lined
Flexible Leads are a cost effective, reliable option for handling most common Industrial gas, Medical
gas and Specialty gases such as Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Helium and other inert
and flammable gases and gas mixtures. (NOTE: PFTE lined leads are not recommended for Helium
and Hydrogen discharging applications. See the Metallic Lined Hose section of the catalog.)

Product Description
1/4" 3600* PSIG PTFE Lined
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
General purpose for Industrial, Medical, and Specialty gases, smooth bore PTFE lined
leads meet or exceed CGA E-9 and SAE 100R14 specifications.
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s smooth bore PTFE leads have been the standard the gases industry for years. This lead
utilizes a double stainless steel braid around a flexible tube.
A proprietary post sintering process, unique to the compressed gas industry, further fuses the
PTFE material to reduce the diffusion of small molecules such as helium. This process helps make
Weldcoa’s PTFE hose products the very best in the industry.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3600 PSIG PTFE Lined Flexible Leads have been widely specified for a variety of applications in the gases industry where the 3000 PSIG leads do not provide the desired working pressure. These leads can be found in cylinder charging plants, cylinder discharging applications, industrial manufacturing plants, medical institutions, pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratories, and
numerous other facilities. Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3600 PSIG PTFE Lined Flexible Leads are a cost effective,
reliable option for handling most common Industrial gas, Medical gas and Specialty gases such as
Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Helium and other inert and flammable gases and gas mixtures. (NOTE: PFTE lined leads are not recommended for Helium and Hydrogen discharging applications. See the Metallic Lined Hose section of the catalog.)

FLEXIBLE NON-METAL LINED LEADS
Product Description
1/4" 6000* PSIG PTFE Lined
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
Special heavy-duty ultra-high pressure flexible PTFE lined smooth bore leads for
Industrial and Specialty gas applications.
Weldcoa’s heavy duty ultra-high pressure smooth bore PTFE lined leads are designed to meet the
most demanding needs of the compressed gas industry. This lead utilizes one inner braid, four spiral layers and a outer braid (all stainless steel) to provide one of the most rugged leads available for
gas transfer applications. Quality control methods and meticulous attention to detail throughout the
manufacturing process ensure that our customers will receive a leak-free lead that will provide years
of service. A proprietary post sintering process, unique to the compressed gas industry, further
fuses the PTFE material to reduce the diffusion of small molecules such as helium. This helps make
Weldcoa’s PTFE lead products the very best in the industry.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 6000 PSIG PTFE Lined Flexible Leads are used to meet the ultra-high pressure needs
of the industrial gas and specialty gas industries. These leads are commonly used for the charging
and discharging of ultra-high pressure compressed gas cylinders or other severe service applications. These flexible leads are available for handling most common Industrial and Specialty gases
such as Nitrogen, Argon, Super-critical Carbon Dioxide, Helium and other inert and flammable gases
and gas mixtures. (NOTE: PTFE lined leads are not recommended for Helium and Hydrogen discharging applications. See the Metallic Lined Hose section of the catalog.)

Weldcoa’s smooth bore PTFE hoses have been the standard in the gases industry for years. This
hose utilizes a double stainless steel braid around a flexible tube. Through a process of cold head
extrusion, tetraflouroetheylene powder is transformed into a smooth tube of PTFE, using only the
finest DuPont T62. Quality control methods and meticulous attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process ensure that our customers will receive a leak-free hose that will provide years of
service. A proprietary post sintering process, unique to the compressed gas industry, further

While most gas applications use 1/4” leads and CGA connectors, this hose is 1/2” diameter and is
not typically equipped with CGA connections. These hoses are typically used for connecting high
capacity equipment and tube trailers.
Tube trailers commonly use 1” - 11 1/2 NPS Internal thread connectors, which are threaded into
Female NPT connectors on the hose. These are shown in the Connection Options section.
Trailer connectors other than those shown can also be used.

FLEXIBLE METAL LINED LEADS
Product Description
1/4" 4600* PSIG SS Lined
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
For Industrial and Specialty gases, corrugated metal lined leads.
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s Flexible Metal leads are the choice when low diffusion rates and higher integrity are
required. The inner liner is made from two plies of stainless steel strip that are formed into a helical
profile and resistance welded. Because it is not mechanically formed from tubing it is extremely
flexible and does not contain the residual stresses like traditional mechanically-formed helical hose.
A single stainless steel braid is used to further increase the working pressure. Because the lead is
lined with metal, it will not diffuse small molecules.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 4600 PSI SS Lined Flexible Metal Leads are most commonly used in high purity gas
charging and discharging manifolds. These flexible leads are available for handling most common
Industrial and Specialty gases such as Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Helium and other inert and
flammable gases and gas mixtures. Because they will not diffuse small molecule gases, they are
ideally suited for Helium and Hydrogen discharge applications. Note: Stainless Steel is not
recommended for use with high pressure Oxygen.

FLEXIBLE METAL LINED LEADS
Product Description
1/4" 3700* PSIG Monel-400 Lined
(*RATING OF LEAD, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
For Industrial and Specialty gases, corrugated metal lined leads.
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s Flexible Metal leads are the choice when low diffusion rates and higher integrity are
required. The inner liner is made from two plies of Monel-400 steel strip that are formed into a helical
profile and resistance welded. Because it is not mechanically formed from tubing it is extremely
flexible and does not contain the residual stresses like traditional mechanically-formed helical hose.
A single stainless steel braid is used to further increase the working pressure. Because the lead is
lined with metal, it will not diffuse small molecules.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/4" 3700 PSI Monel-400 Lined Flexible Metal Leads are most commonly used in high
purity gas charging and discharging manifolds, where high pressure Oxygen is used. Monel-400 is
used with Oxygen because it will not support combustion, like Stainless Steel. Monel-400 is compatible
with the most common Industrial and Specialty gases including Oxygen, Argon, Nitrogen, Helium,
Carbon Dioxide and Hydrogen.

1/2" 3700* PSIG SS Lined
(*RATING OF HOSE, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
For Industrial and Specialty gases, corrugated metal lined hoses.
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s Flexible Metal hoses are the choice when low diffusion rates and higher integrity are
required. The inner liner is made from two plies of stainless steel strip that are formed into a helical
profile and resistance welded. Because it is not mechanically formed from tubing it is extremely
flexible and does not contain the residual stresses like traditional mechanically-formed helical hose.
A double stainless steel braid is used to further increase the working pressure. Because the hose is
lined with metal, it will not diffuse small molecules.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/2" 3700 PSI SS Lined Flexible Metal Hoses are an excellent choice when a large diameter
is needed for high flow applications when used with small molecule gases such as Helium or
Hydrogen. The most frequent use for these hoses is for tube trailer charging and discharging with
Helium or Hydrogen. These flexible leads are available for handling most common Industrial and
Specialty gases such as Nitrogen, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Helium and other inert and flammable gases
and gas mixtures. Note: Stainless Steel is not recommended for use with high pressure Oxygen.

While most gas applications use 1/4" leads and CGA connectors, this hose is 1/2" diameter and is
not typically equipped with CGA connections. These hoses are typically used for connecting high
capacity equipment and tube trailers.
Tube trailers commonly use 1" - 11 1/2 NPS Internal thread connectors, which are threaded into
Female NPT connectors on the hose. These are shown in the Connection Options section.
Trailer connectors other than those shown can also be used.

FLEXIBLE METAL LINED CRYOGENIC HOSE
1/2" 1186* PSIG SS Lined
(*RATING OF HOSE, ACTUAL PRESSURE RATING BASED ON OPTIONS SELECTED)
INTRODUCTION
Weldcoa’s Flexible Metal Cryogenic hoses are the choice for highly flexible hoses with an excellent
cycle life. The inner liner is made from a single strip of stainless steel that is welded into a tube and
hydraulically formed into the flexible corrugated shape. Because it is not mechanically formed from
tubing it is extremely flexible and does not contain the residual stresses like traditional mechanicallyformed helical hose. A stainless steel braid is used to further increase the working pressure.
APPLICATION
Weldcoa’s 1/2” 1186 PSI SS Lined Flexible Metal Hoses are an excellent choice for atmospheric
cryogen liquid and gas transfer. The most frequent use for these hoses is for the fill and vent lines
for cryogenic cans or dewars. NOTE: These hoses are not for use with liquid Helium.

PRODUCT TESTING AND CLEANING
100% of the leads and hoses manufactured by Weldcoa are cleaned for oxygen service
using environmentally friendly processes. Every lead or hose is leak tested.
Oxygen cleaning is performed with Modern Chemical Blue Gold, using guidelines set forth
in the Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet G-4.1 “Cleaning Equipment For Oxygen
Service”
Cleaning:
External Degreasing: Hose material is hot solvent degreased prior to any further
handling or processing.
Oxygen Cleaning:
1. Leads and hose material are internally cleaned prior to assembly.
2. Permanent fittings are cleaned prior to lead/hose assembly.
