Booky & the Secret Santa
Raising The Bar
When eleven-year-old Akeelah Anderson (Keke
Palmer) takes on the challenge of winning the
Scripps National Spelling Bee, everyone in her life
has a chance to step out of the Ghetto, and into
the winning circle. Her life is not easy: her father
is dead, her mom works so hard she has little time
to spend with her, and Akeelah’s brother runs with
the local gang. Akeelah participates in a spelling
bee to avoid detention for her many absences and
from that point on, her life is thrown into an entirely
unpredictable tailspin when she meets Dr. Larabee
(Laurence Fishburne) who asks her to go to the
Nationals. Feature Films for Families is proud to
present another great film in the 2009 Christmas
Collection of films as we strive to kick up the quality
with every new release, providing you with the very
best in family entertainment. Akeelah is a film which
every home library should have in its possession. This
film transcends all boundaries and road-blocks and
gives an over-burdened community something, and
someone, to rally around and be proud of.

is tomorrow’s history, make it count.”
And finally the 5-years-in-the-making,
masterfully animated feature film “The
Princess & The Pea,” based on the
original tale about how sensitivity and
kindness thwarts an evil plan to take over

Imagination Unlimited
Introducing the next classic
tale from Feature Films For
Families: The Velveteen
Rabbit. This adaptation of the
timeless children’s book by
Margery Williams is a period
film presented in the spirit of
Anne of Green Gables and
The Secret Garden with just a
spoonful of Mary Poppins.
Approx. 94 mins.
We meet Toby, a sheltered boy, who has lost his mother
and has a hard working father who is too busy to spend the
holidays with his son. He brings Toby to stay with his very
strict Grandmother for the Christmas Season. He is introduced to a small, stuffed Velveteen Rabbit who becomes his
friend and companion and accompanies him on imaginative
adventures the whole family will enjoy!
This film combines beautifully shot live action
film footage with classic traditional animation
and state-of-the-art 3D animation. You’ll be
particularly impressed with the production
design throughout the film, the locations, sets,
wardrobe and props. The film takes place in the
scenic countryside of New England. Every prop
and location was carefully chosen; wardrobe was
brought in from London, England, and masterfully arranged for an authentic and rich backdrop
to this memorable narrative.
