Ask Phoebe
Dear Phoebe, What is it
like giving advice? Nun-ya
Dear Nun-ya, Giving
advice isn't easy. You
have to imagine yourself in the person' s
place and try to assess
it from all angles. You
have to think what
would you do in this
situation, and what the
person would want
to do. For example,
if you asked what
would I do if vampires took over the
world, I would
imagine myself as
the person in the
conflict and what
would be good for
both sides...though I
highly doubt that
anyone would
want to help a vampire!

Book Review: Pig Tale by Verlyn Flieger
A newborn baby
was found in a field in
the village of Little
Wicken. The villagers
unwillingly took her
in and passed her from
household to household. She grew up
nameless and lonely,
until they realized she
had a connection with
the pigs. Then she
went and lived with
the Grimes and got the
name Mokie, meaning
little pig girl. When she
was 15, she was attacked by the village
boys. She and Apple
her favorite pig ran
away. In the woods
they met Lally Dai,
The Skimmer, and
Dogger John. In them,
she finds friends and a
family.

Missing Three Year Old
Her name is Aliayah Lunsford. She has been missing since Sept.
24th. Lena Lunsford, her mother told police that she was asleep at
6:30 a.m. After searching the West Fork River and surrounding
area, FBI Special Agent Jeff Killeen said she has likely been the
victim of a homicide or abduction. More than 1000 volunteers
helped hunt for Aliayah , but no trace has been found of her.
National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is
a group of around 40 eighth grade students that had at least a 3.2 grade
point average last year. The Honor
Society runs fundraisers and school
activities. Mrs. Gandee is in charge of
the group. They started the Hats for
Ethan, when students brought in a
dollar for Ethan Hull and could wear
a hat the day they brought the dollar. If
they brought in five dollars, then they
got a slushie. Then the Honor Society
organized Hats for Helmicks, when
they were doing the same thing as they
did for Hats for Ethan to benefit Rex
and Debbie Helmick. They will be involved in other service activities
throughout the year.
