STAGE 1. LONG DISTANCE.
ARENA HÖGFJÄLLSHOTELLET
STAGE 4. LONG DISTANCE.
ARENA LINDVALLEN
The level of detail varies significantly, which
means a variety of orienteering skills are required. Slightly to moderately hilly. All classes
will run on open fell for large parts of the
course. Good runnability.
Cartographer: Kenneth Kajsajuntti
Course setter: Jan Gustavsson
Wonderful variation, where there are more
areas of marshland on the mountain than in
previous stages. Three chair lifts take competitors up to their starts, so there is mountain
orienteering for everyone. The older classes
will finish up on the mountain and competitors can then travel back down on the chair
lift, others classes will finish by orienteering
down the pistes. Moderately hilly.
Cartographer: Kenneth Kajsajuntti
Course setter: Johan Hallgren
STAGE 2. LONG DISTANCE.
ARENA HÖGFJÄLLSHOTELLET
Great variety awaits, from mountainside to
mountain forests. Good to very good visibility
and runnability. The level of detail varies from
diffuse features on open fell to uneven hillside terrain. Moderately hilly to steep for the
longest courses and moderately hilly for other
courses. The start is 50–150 vertical metres
above the finish, a short but steep walk.
Cartographer: Kenneth Kajsajuntti
Course setter: Stefan Jonsson
STAGE 3. MIDDLE DISTANCE.
ARENA HÖGFJÄLLSHOTELLET
The third day on the mountain, with variation as on stage 2. The difference is that most
courses will meet areas of mountain birch.
Moderately hilly to steep for the longest
courses and moderately hilly for other courses.
The start is 50–150 vertical metres above the
finish, a short but steep walk.
Cartographer: Kenneth Kajsajuntti
Course setter: Mats Jönsson
STAGE 5. LONG DISTANCE.
ARENA LINDVALLEN
A forest race featuring classic Dalarna terrain,
including marshes, bilberries and a hillside to
test your orienteering in a completely different
way to the other days. The level of detail varies
from detailed hillsides to areas with diffuse
features and large marshes. Few roads and
paths. Moderately hilly to steep for the longest
courses and moderately hilly for other courses.
Cartographer: Kenneth Kajsajuntti
Course setter: Hans Andersson

* Those entered for DH18–21 ELIT who are not selected will be moved to respective
Elit 2 class (A for Pre-O). No refunds of entry fee will be made.
Green course: These courses will be in terrain with clear and connected features
such as roads, large tracks, buildings, open land, etc. All controls will be placed on
line features, leading to the most obvious route choice.
White course: Terrain as for green course. Controls will mark only the start of one
leg and the change to a new one. Controls shall be clearly visible and obvious.
Yellow course: May be in more difficult terrain, but runnability must still be
good. The terrain should consist of a connected network of roads, tracks, fences,
waterways, open areas etc.
Orange and red courses: Terrain should be runnable, moderately hilly and consist
of forest, preferably with some more cultivated areas. The difference between
orange and red courses is in principle that tougher and less runnable terrain
should be avoided completely on orange courses.
Violet course: All types of terrain, but very tough terrain should be avoided. All
types of control location can be used. Here, you will need to make route choices
and choose the right techniques to find the controls.
Blue and black courses: Difficulty level to suit the capabilities of the most able
runners. Increased difficulty level from the colour grades above due to the larger proportion of contour orienteering and use of detailed terrain and small terrain details.
However, very physically demanding terrain should be avoided on Blue courses.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES
Free start times for all stages. No prizes awarded for individual
stages. Overall prizes allocated at random.
