The Center was founded in 1947 as a part of the „Servants of the Infant Jesus” convent Antunovac. In 1955, after the decision of the National Council, the Center became public institution. The Center provides following services for people with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disabilities: Permanent accommodation Weekly accommodation Half-day program Whole-day program Health care and prevention Preschool care and education Primary school education Psychosocial rehabilitation Job training and employment Open market employment Organized free time Community based independent living Community based supported living ORLOVAC Orlovac is situated close to the city center, occupying 3500 sq. meters. The branch office is surrounded by a park, a gazebo, sport fields and a parking lot, including a house for supported independent living located nearby. The branch office is easily accessed by public transportation (bus number 102 and 105 – the fourth stop from the British Square). Branch office Sloboština provides preschool and primary school education program for children with moderate and severe intellectual disability, complex rehabilitation services with programs of psychosocial rehabilitation for children with profound intellectual disability, special treatment therapy program in the family (portage), including early intervention program and assistance with integration in regular preschool and school programs. Baby signs - branch office Sloboština is the first licenced institution which applies sign language for babies adapted for children with intellectual disabilities. Local units are situated on nine locations in different parts of Zagreb. Our local units provide secure, pleasant and joyful environment. We respect our client's needs and individuality. We care for partner relationship with the client and his/her family. Out trained personel creates the individual suppot plan in cooperation with the client, the family and other relevant people. We provide support in independent living. Trained proffesionals are working individually with the clients. Clients activly participate in planing and implementing programs. Through occupational and working activities the client practices skills important for the working process, as well as communication skills needed for better adjustment to new work environment. Working assistant gives support to the client, but in this proces they work as partners. The model of rehabilitation in the open market employs 27 clients. The client has a contract and is fairly compensated for his/her work. The Center and the company make a collaboration contract. So far three clients have been fully employed. Three companies are employing our clients on positions for packing, labeling and sorting various merchandise, as well as in maintenance department. Those are Kühne & Nagel, dm and Atlantic grupa. After nine years of succesful program implementation today we have both a satisfied client and a satisfied employer. A large number of clients are ready and motivated for the open working market.
