I would like to present you with the Augusta Health
2015-2016 Provider Directory. Inside you will find
listings of all providers who are affiliated with Augusta
Health. Each provider is listed under the specialty of
the care that they provide to our community.
In case you have not met me yet, my name
is Chris Morgenstern. I am the Physician
Liaison at Augusta Health. You might see
me often, visiting physician practices with
regular updates on hospital services, and
most of all making sure that every provider
affiliated with Augusta Health is happy with
the hospital’s level of care. I strive each day to strengthen the
relationship between providers in our community and Augusta
Health, and to maintain and grow our patient referral base. It is
my pleasure to work with each and every one of you. Augusta
Health has shown me what it’s like to truly be a community
hospital, with world-class care offered close to home, a
beautiful, state-of-the-art facility sitting amongst the scenic
Shenandoah Valley as well as with highly-skilled, caring
providers.
In the 2015 edition of the Augusta Health Provider
Directory, you will see that we continue to experience
growth and offer high quality and compassionate care to
the community. A few of the changes you’ll notice are:

An overview of Augusta Health—our campus, our history, our plans for the future.
The physicians and staff at Augusta Health, a nonprofit, independent community
hospital—through their commitment, expertise and dedication to their patients—have
earned recognition as one of the best hospitals in the nation. Named a 100 Top Hospital
by Thomson Reuters/Truven in both 2011 and 2012, Augusta Health placed at the top for
both clinical and operational excellence. The health system was also an Everest Award
winner both years, recognizing high achievement within the 100 Top winners. Augusta
Health has also been nationally recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best
Hospitals for clinical excellence and patient safety for the last three consecutive years, and
has been name one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals in 2015.
Augusta Health’s life-saving Interventional Cardiology program works with emergency
service providers to achieve an average door-to-balloon time of about 42 minutes, well under
the national standard of 90 minutes. The Augusta Health Cancer Program is an affiliate of the
Duke Oncology Network, and its equipment includes an Elekta Infinity Radiation Treatment
system. New advances in lung cancer screening and detection work hard to diagnose the
disease early, when it’s more treatable. It also conducts clinical trials—bringing tomorrow’s
treatments to the community today—and examines complex cases through a multidisciplinary Tumor Board.
Augusta Health has a comprehensive occupational medicine program, Workplace Wellness,
led by a Board-Certified Occupational Health physician and team to meet the needs of the
business and industry community—both onsite at their location and at the hospital campus.
The new Augusta Health Joint Center has redesigned joint replacement surgery for hips and
knees, improving patient outcomes and satisfaction simultaneously.
Augusta Health’s services reach well beyond the walls of its 255 bed hospital. Its
community-based facilities include primary care physician offices, laboratories, imaging
centers, Urgent Care Centers in Staunton, Waynesboro, Weyers Cave and Stuarts Draft
(opening Spring 2015) and Convenient Care Clinics (including two in the Staunton and
Waynesboro Walmarts) across three counties. Augusta Health’s hospital-based services
provide the medical and preventive care required by a thriving community—surgical
services, emergency services, rehabilitation services, behavioral health services, wellness
screenings, durable medical equipment, laboratory and imaging services. Lifetime Fitness
Center, the Shenandoah House, the Augusta Health Sleep Center and a child care facility are
