The Almoner . . .
The individual who performs the duties of the ALMONER is
elected annually, and serves in this capacity for all four
Scottish Rite Bodies. He collects alms (donations), this is
accomplished when the "Basket of Fraternal Assistance" is
passed among the Brethren at each reunion and stated
meeting. We are ask to contribute only "That amount that we
might spend unnecessarily each day". He also maintains a list
of sick and/or infirm members. The ALMONER is the sole
judge in determining the amount as well as the recipient of the
monetary assistance.
This fund is used for our needy brethren and others who have
an acute short-term crisis in their lives through which the
Almoner can provide assistance.
Brethren may contribute to this fund at any time. Your gift will
give you the opportunity to be part of our grand Tradition of
helping our fellow man.

A GREAT PROGRAM TO CREATE A LIVING MEMORIAL
With the preservation of the San Antonio Scottish Rite Library and Museum, Inc., and its magnificent Cathedral at stake, a great
program has been developed which, if adequately supported, can assure the future of this magnificent building.
THE SAN ANTONIO SCOTTISH RITE LIBRARY AND MUSEUM, INC.'S
CATHEDRAL ENDOWMENT FUND
The Cathedral Endowment Fund is a fully tax exempt means of ensuring the future of the San Antonio
Scottish Rite Cathedral. The Fund is our principal insurance against inflation, maintenance costs and
loss of membership, and is the major means by which we can save our beautiful Cathedral and our
Library and Museum for our children's children. Interest earned by the Fund is used to improve,
maintain, repair and support the Cathedral, to preserve it for the ages.
It is critical to that the Endowment Fund continues to grow, for as the Cathedral ages, the cost of
maintenance and improvement also grows. Tax Exempt contributions of any amount are most
gratefully received. Membership in the Million Dollar Club can be obtained for $1,000.00, either in
cash, pledge or by bequest through a will or insurance policy.
Each leaf on the "Tree of Life" in the Hall of Honor attests to the generosity of members and their
families.

Fidelity to obligations and perseverance of purpose under difficulties
and discouragement are the lessons of this degree. The striking
crimson velvet apron of this degree is edged with green, having a
bleeding head above two crossed swords and a triangle (top point to
the left) with three interlaced triangles inside it. The jewel is three
golden concentric triangles encompassing two crossed swords. The
duty is to rebuild the Masonic Temple of liberty, equality and fraternity
in the souls of men.
