the solo exhibition ‘in flux’ by

In the works of Belgian artist Olivier Vrancken planes and layers reign. In this exhibition
groups of geometric objects are crammed together on the canvas. They are either extremely
close or seperated by just hint of space, leaving it up to the viewer to decide what is
foreground and background.
Founded in a formalist tradition, Vrancken’s rectangular objects all suggest a flat, static and
controlled order. But put together each composition reveals a sense of depth and perspective
as it forms a three-dimensional box. With these works Vrancken shows us new facets of his
suptle graphical style, while he remains an impressive explorer of the world of space and
depth.
