Grafton Peace Pagoda: The result of eight years of
voluntary labor and donations from people from all faiths and
corners of the world, this monument to peace is the home of
Buddhist nun and peace activist, Jun Yasuda. It is the site of
numerous interfaith celebrations throughout the year and the
starting point of a variety of “prayer walks” which successfully

Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway: The Gateway is
the only comprehensive industrial heritage institute for the
Hudson-Mohawk region. Housed in the historic Burden Iron

Oakwood Cemetery: One of the largest rural cemeteries in
the U.S., covering hundreds of acres of protected land with
more than 60,000 grave sites. Oakwood is the burial site of
many historic figures including “Uncle Sam” Wilson and is
home to the Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel with its classic

The Knickerbocker Mansion: Constructed by Johannes
Knickerbocker III (circa 1780), has been almost completely restored from a semi ruin to its former grandeur by the Knickerbocker Historical Society. The Mansion offers seasonal tours

than 50,000 objects and archival collections in its two adjacent
19th century townhouses — the Hart-Cluett House and the
Carr Building. RCHS offers visitors and members a wide

historic district houses its substantial collections, exhibits, and

The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall: Beautifully restored
1875 Music Hall is recognized as one of the premiere acoustical
halls in the world. The hall, which was named a National
Historic Landmark in 1989, features performances by the Albany

Cherry Plain State Park: Consisting of 175 acres and
featuring a sandy beach on Black River Pond, with bathhouse
and comfort station nearby. There are picnic grounds, a boat
launch, fishing, bridle paths, hiking, biking and nature trails
that also serve for cross-country skiing in winter. The park
also has 10 trailer sites and 10 lakeside tent sites available for

Grafton Lakes State Park: Located on the forested
mountain ridge between the Taconic and Hudson valleys,
includes five ponds and 2,357 acres. The park has a large sandy
beach and several ponds for fishing with launch facilities for canoes,
sailboats and rowboats. Visitors also picnic, walk the nature trails,
hike, and bike or ride horses along the 25 miles of park trails.
In winter the trails are groomed for cross-country skiers and
snowmobiles, snowshoeing and ice skating. Open year round.
