share draft (checking) account. All extensions of credit are subject to credit approval. Rates shown are lowest
offered for the loan products advertised. Applicants that are not approved for these loan rates or terms may
be offered credit at a higher rate and/or with different terms. Other terms available, maximum term is 72
months. All terms are subject to change without notice. Offer may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s an exciting time to be an
HHFCU Member
As we celebrate our 73rd anniversary, I
couldn’t be more proud and excited about
the growth and changes that are taking
place at Hudson Heritage.
Through our merger with MPO Federal
Credit Union we have added 3 new locations
(former MPO branches) in Middletown,
Pine Bush, and Port Jervis. In addition to
these 3 new branches, we’re also in the
process of relocating two of our branches in
Goshen and Middletown to easily accessible,
state-of-the-art facilities right in town.
Our new branches feature convenient banking hours in a comfortable
and modern setting. Members will now have easier access to ATMs,
drive-up tellers, and can even access the Internet! We’ll be celebrating
the opening of our new locations soon, so keep an eye out for
more information!
We’ve improved the speed and efficiency of our mortgage loan
process. Now, Members can apply for a mortgage or a mortgage
refinance online at www.myhudsonheritage.com and receive instant
approval on their application.
I’d also like to remind readers of an important membership benefit that
comes at no extra cost and can even save you money. As a Hudson
Heritage Member, you have access to a network of over 30,000
surcharge-free ATMs through the CO-OP and SUM Networks. These
network ATMs are conveniently located and are easily identified by their
respective logos on the ATM. We provide helpful tools to locate the
surcharge-free ATM nearest you, which you can find more detail in the
article on this sidebar.
With the convenience of new branches, an expansive network of
surcharge-free ATMs, technology that helps you bank on-the-go, and
instant decision loans, we’re constantly working to provide Members
and the community a better banking option.
It’s your money, why pay
to access it?
At HHFCU we know you work hard for your money.
The last thing you want to do is throw it away on
costly ATM fees. Many banks will charge you an arm
and a leg to access your money at a non-branch
ATM. When those fees range anywhere from $1 to
as high as $5, they can add up quickly.
For example, if you withdrew money twice a
week with a $2 surcharge fee per transaction
(the current industry average), you’d pay $208 a year
in withdrawal surcharges. That’s $208 that you’ll
never see again! Enough to buy approximately
208 cups of coffee. Six haircuts. Or one really nice
dinner for two!
We think you shouldn’t have to spend your money
to get your money. As an HHFCU Member, you can
access more than 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs
through our CO-OP and SUM Networks. Finding a
participating ATM is easy — here’s how:
Access nearly 30,000 surcharge-free
ATMs with the CO-OP Network.
Find one wherever you are:
• Online: www.hhfcu.org.
• By phone: Text your address, intersection or zip code to
692667 (MYCOOP).
*Standard text messaging rates may apply through your provider.
• iPhone: Download the FREE CO-OP ATM iPhone app
from the iTUNES store.
Access the SUM network
of surcharge-free ATMs.
Just look for the SUM logo on participating ATMs.
• Online: ATM Locator at www.sum-atm.com.
• iPhone® and Android™: Enter “SUM ATM locator”
at your favorite mobile app store.
Note: Surcharges should not occur when withdrawals are made through the CO-OP Network or
SUM Network. However, some ATM machines may indicate a fee notice on the screen when your
transaction is being processed. To verify a surcharge was not charged, please check your receipt.
The receipt will show any surcharge as it will be added to the total withdrawal amount. Please
contact us immediately if a surcharge does occur.
Sincerely,
Additional surcharge-free

Announcing the Virginia Wilson
Scholarship Fund
Former President and CEO of Hudson Heritage, Virginia L. Wilson started out as
the manager of the sole Newburgh location of HHFCU (which was known then as
the Newburgh Teacher’s Credit Union). During her 30-plus years with HHFCU, she played
a big role in taking us from that one small location to a credit union with eight branches.
In recognition of Virginia Wilson’s commitment to the Members and employees
of this credit union throughout the years, we have renamed our annual scholarship
program in her honor.
Members who are graduating high school seniors have an opportunity to win a college
scholarship through the Virginia Wilson Scholarship Fund. Awards for the scholarships
are tiered from $500, $1000, and $1500. Winners are selected based on their scholastic
achievements, community involvement, and leadership qualities. Applications will require
an essay and supplemental documentation, so allow time to gather these materials.
Applicants will also be automatically entered into the Credit Union Association of
New York college scholarship program. Finalists will be selected from credit unions
across New York State.
If you are eligible and would like to apply, stop by any branch or contact our
Member Service Center at 845-561-5607 and we will mail you an application.
International Credit Union Day®
– Oct. 17, 2013
Credit unions continually demonstrate their
ability to improve the lives of individuals, families,
communities and countries around the world,
and have done so for generations. As we
celebrate International Credit Union Day this October, we celebrate the theme of
“Credit Unions Unite for Good” with more than 186 million people worldwide.
Join us on October 17, as we celebrate Credit Union Day throughout our
branches and applaud the fact that Americans and those around the world are
embracing credit unions as their best financial partner.

Day Habilitation visit local organizations to
practice skill development and broaden their
social experiences. Hudson Heritage took
members of AHRC on a tour of the branch
and hosted fun financial education projects. HHFCU Gives Back
Earlier this month, HHFCU Staff and Members
did their part to help save lives through the
donation of blood to the Red Cross. It was
great to see everyone come together for an
important cause. Not to be overlooked, this
September two of our branches also hosted
a Free Community Shred Day. These events
helped HHFCU Members and the community to
stay safe from fraud and identity theft. We were
very happy to see so many people participate in
these worthwhile causes.

6. Contribute to a retirement plan. Take advantage of your employer’s
retirement plan if they offer one. It allows you to automatically
contribute pre-tax dollars so that you can pay yourself, before
spending money on bills and other expenses.
7. Meet your employer’s match. If your employer offers a match in
their retirement plan, make sure you contribute enough to take full
advantage of the match.
8. Contribute to an IRA. Contributions to a traditional IRA may be taxdeductible depending on your income and whether or not you and/
or your spouse are covered by a retirement plan in your workplace. If
you make less than $127,000 a year or less than $188,000 for joint
tax filers, a Roth IRA may also be an option.
9. Take advantage of catch-up contributions. Contributions to
retirement plans and IRAs are limited, so it’s important to start early.
Once you reach age 50, these limits rise, allowing you to catch up on
your retirement savings.

buying, there are a variety of reasons why owning your home
can be a more financially and personally rewarding experience.
Stability. Owning a home gives you the opportunity to put
down roots and allows you to personalize your living space
in a way that generally isn’t possible when you’re renting.
Want to paint your bedroom in purple polka dots? Go ahead,

Tax benefits. One benefit over renting is that the interest on

higher, you might see more of that money back in a tax refund
at the end of the year.
Buying a home will help you build equity. While buying a

Appreciation. I’m not just talking about the pride that comes
with owning your own home. If you buy at the right time and
stay in your home long enough, you’ll see that housing prices

higher rate and/or with different terms. This is a limited time offer which can be withdrawn at any time. All terms are subject

apply. Minimum loan amount of $25,000 required to qualify for these rates and terms. Offer valid on existing HHFCU real
estate products if amount of line of credit/loan is increased by a minimum of $25,000. Must maintain $25,000 outstanding
loan balance to qualify for these rates. If loan falls below $25,000, rate will revert to existing regular rate and closing costs
will be added back into the loan/line of credit. Contact a credit union employee for further details. May not be combined with

four-year anniversary date will be subject to the addition of all waived closing costs to the payoff balance. Appraisal required
for loans with 80% LTV and higher. Appraisal costs, if required, are paid by the borrower and will be reimbursed when the
loan is funded. ³ Payment Example: A 60 month term with a 70% loan-to-value and an introductory rate of 1.99% would
result in an estimated payment of $17.52 for each $1000 borrowed. 4 For variable rate loans, the APR may be increased after
consummation. 5 Does not include New York State mortgage tax.
