This is a true political drama based on the politicians of the Joseon Dynasty, and the
clash of their beliefs and passion. The typical historical‘Palace Dramas’usually
portrayed the royal palace as a place of conspiracy, affairs and betrayals. But‘The
Great King Sejong’portrays the Joseon capital as the heart and center of living
politics. It draws out the many differences in political ideals and the wisdom of
finding the reality and solution to the differences. Thus,‘The Great King Sejong’
marks a new era in political dramas.
Instead of showing the‘already prepared king’like most historical dramas, it
focuses on the hard work and efforts he invested to find his own political ideals and
lead a kingdom. Although he was a prince, he was not an heir to the throne. Thus his
interest in politics was the same as becoming a rebel.
But it was not power that he wanted. He only wished to work and bring people peace
and prosperity.
King Sejong was decisive and courageous, and through viewing his acts, the passive
people of the world today will have another chance to look into themselves in their
modern lives.

’Hong Gil-dong, the Hero’ is a comical historical drama that differs from typical hero
stories with supernatural powers. It focuses more on human perspective. The main
characters are those of modern times and the story is youthful and bright.
Hong Gil-dong (Kang Ji-hwan) was born as an illegitimate child of Minister Hong. As
the family continues to ignore him through years, he gives up on a social career and
lives a life of mischief. Although his martial art skills are formidable, he spends most
of his time with the dancers and women in town, making him nothing more than a
neighborhood thug.
But when he ran across Lee Nok (Sung Yoo-ri) and Lee Chang-hwi (Chang Geunsuk), his life of pleasure suddenly changes into the life of a‘Robin Hood’. His
comrade Lee Nok lives the life as a wanderer in the streets, but actually is the only
daughter of a wealthy nobleman. Her rough and boyish personality begins to change
as she falls in love with her friend, Hong Gil-dong. However, she runs into a dilemma
when she comes to learn that Hong Gil-dong’s father had something to do with her
father’s death.
Lee Chang-hwi is in fact a prince. When his step-brother received the throne, he
barely escaped from death and met a group of thieves, later to become their leader.
Now he is hiding his identity and acting as the robbers of justice. He robs the
corrupted rich and then gives those goods to the poor. Hiding his inner pain, Lee
Chang-hwi was out to make a revenge on the evil and corrupt officials with his
sword. He came across Lee Nok and Hong Gil-dong and became comrades. As time
goes by, Lee Chang-hwi falls in love with Lee Nok. But when he comes to learn that
she loves Hong Gil-dong, he falls into despair and betrays him.

Kang Yong-gi(Kwon Sang-woo) was born out of president Kang’s affair. He was
sent to the U.S when he was fourteen. He graduated from an arts college in New

In-jeong(Lee Yo-won) and falls in love. By the time his past wounds were being
healed by In-jeong’s love, Su-hwan(Kim Seong-su) appears.
Na In-jeong has a fantasy about love and marriage. She was certain it was her
destiny to fell in love with Su-hwan. But he was belonged to another woman. After 5
years she meets Yong-gi and receives his passionate love. Afterwards, Su-hwan
reappears having given up everything, and she starts to sway between Su-hwan and
Yong-gi.
Lee Su-hwan had married president Kang’s daughter Ju-ran. Then one day while he
was on his business trip to Paris, he meets In-jeong. But eventually Ju-ran knows
about their affair and leaves In-jeong an unrecoverable wound. After 5 years he
divorces himself from Ju-ran. Then he sets out to find In-jeong but realizes that her
heart was already taken by Yong-gi.

This is a story about 20 and 30 something daughters-in-law with a career and their
struggles with their mothers-in-law. This series intends to cast a topic of
conversation about contemporary marriage culture and family relations by
portraying in a comical way the dynamic power between daughters armed with
social status and economic power and their mothers-in-law, protected by the
traditional culture.
Lee Bok-soo(Kim Ji-hoon) is the eldest son of a pork hock restaurant. He has
watched his mother suffer from grief and distress afflicted by others. So he has
compassion and pity accumulated in his heart toward his mother. And this draws a
line between him and other women in his life. Jo Mi-jin gets married to Lee Bok-soo
and becomes a daughter-in-law of a 60-year old traditional restaurant. She begins to
seriously think about family circumstances, the house business of a pork hock
restaurant, the structure of his house and personalities and characters of his family
members.
Cha Soo-hyun is the eldest daughter of a middle class family. She has lots of
distress from the cultural differences with her husband’s family. It is tough for her
to follow her mother-in-law’s elegant lifestyle and her mother-in-law ignores her
achievements so openly. In this conflict she worries about her identity and her sense
of existence.

born with feminine characteristics. In a man-donated world, it seems that these
qualities would be of no use, but‘Innocent woman’Baek Il-hong shows us how
much strength it gives us.

The six martyred ministers were six ministers of the Joseon Dynasty who were
executed in 1456. They were executed by King Sejo on the charge of plotting to
return Danjong to the throne.
The Six were Seong Sam-mun, Pak Paeng-nyeon, Ha Wi-ji, Yi Gae, Yu Eung-bu, and
Yu Seong-won. Most were members of the Hall of Worthies, a high council of state,
who had been appointed by King Sejong. King Munjong had charged them looking
after his son King Danjong, and they reacted with outrage to Sejo’s usurpation of
the throne in 1455. Together with Kim Jil , they plotted a coup to coincide with the
visit of a Ming Dynasty envoy. However, Kim Jil changed his mind at the last minute
and betrayed the plot to Sejo.
The Six were seized and tortured; when they refused to repent and insisted that their
actions had been righteous, they were executed.
In later years, national opinion came to revere the Six as model subjects, and
numerous shrines and seowon were erected in their memory.

Ha-na is in love with Pung-do, but she gets displeased, feeling
Pung-do’s attitude of being uninterested in marriage. After
friend’s wedding ceremony, Pung-do and Ha-na fly back to
Seoul. When the plane is shaking because of the air turbulence,
Ha-na is afraid of dying before marriage. In dangerous situation,
she persuades Pung-do and they perform the wedding
pathetically and simply. Unfortunately the plane is landed in
Seoul Airport successfully and Ha-na reproaches Pung-do with
canceling the marrige.
