IVA HISTORY
PROJECT REFERENCE
After a year of planning and preparation, the IVA brand was born in Malaysia on January 2006. IVA
Professional Audio was the brainchild of 2 brilliant pioneers of the industry in Malaysia, Mr Wong and his
partner Mr Seng. With the strength and experience of AVEM the parent company, IVA entered the professional
audio market with a bang, featuring an impressive line up of products such as speakers, amplifiers,
microphones and even acoustic guitars. Later the same year, IVA introduced a drumset, high powered
amplifiers, wireless microphones, karaoke systems and even line array speaker systems.
IVA’s market presence has been growing ever since and continues to be a leading brand in Malaysia. Not
resting on its laurels, IVA continues to build strength by forging strategic partnerships with companies from the
USA, UK, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines and China, utilizing their technologies and materials to
make better products and improving performance and quality. IVA is a truly Malaysian product with a perfect
blend of international technologies and expertise.
In 2012, IVA injected new life into the brand and product. A new brand logo was introduced to symbolize its
new direction and to present itself to the market with well defined clarity and identity. With that, IVA gladly
brings to you the sound of creativity, joy, happiness, intellect and boundless energy.
2006 - 2012

One of the first few products from IVA, the DP series is a beast by
nature. It is exceptionally powerful yet delivers crystal clear sound
to the audience. The multi-plywood cabinet is designed for
robustness and ruggedness and is able to withstand rough use.
The DP series has a unique HF horn flare design that allows for 2
different dispersion angles for near and far field simultaneously.
This ensures the high frequencies are evenly distributed across the
distance. For the discerning users, the core strength of the DP
series lies in the drivers installed within. These drivers are carefully
selected from Eminence (USA) and Fane (UK), and meticulously
matched with our custom crossover circuits. A fine example of
integrating proven western technology into the Malaysian designed
DP series speakers.

BASIC SOUND SYSTEM DESIGN
LOUDSPEAKER
There are 3 steps in sound reproduction. The first are the source inputs. These are produced either by pre-recorded sources or live
sources. Second, the sound is processed by manipulating, cutting, mixing, boosting and reducing the sound. Finally, the "final" sound is
sent to the output for everyone to hear.
There are many types of input sources. Examples of pre-recorded sources are like CD/DVD Player, Tape Player, Tuner and Computer.
Typical live sources are vocals and musical instruments, in which the sounds are picked up by microphones. A microphone is a sound
capturing device that converts variations in sound into variations in voltage. In other words, it converts sound into electrical signal. There
are 3 common technologies in microphone classification, namely dynamic microphone, condenser microphone and piezoelectric
microphone.
iX-10P
Made-in-Malaysia long-excursion LF driver
In the audio industry, dynamic and condenser microphones are easily available. But how do you choose a microphone? A dynamic
microphone is exceptionally good for vocals and music instruments that do not need exceptionally high frequency response. Meanwhile, a
condenser microphone is good for quiet instruments that need high frequency detail. Next, it is important to select a pickup pattern or
polar pattern of a microphone. The few typical polar patterns are omnidirectional, cardiod, hypercardiod and supercardiod.
Javelin throw HF driver
100W acoustic Speaker
Next, we choose audio mixer. The audio mixer works as combiner of two or more separate signals to become a single signal. It simply
combines various types of signals with different levels. How do we choose mixer? In essence, we choose a mixer based on its venue
requirement starting with the number of mic inputs. Then, we look into number of stereo inputs available, number of Groups and Auxes
and Built-in FX. These are typical features demanded by most users but ultimately it depends on one’s requirements.
Signal processors are normally connected after the audio mixer. Graphic Equalizer, Compressor, Limiter, Expander, Noise Gate and
Crossover are examples of signal processors. All signal processors function as their name indicates. A Graphic Equalizer is a hardware
representative of a magnitude VS frequency graph. Meanwhile, a Compressor reduces dynamic range which are the quietest and loudest
frequencies of a signal. A Limiter prevents the signal from exceeding a threshold thus protecting the system. An Expander is opposite of
compressor. It increases the dynamic range of a signal. A Noise Gate will mute the signal when it falls below a threshold thus eliminate the
low volume noises. A Crossover divides a signal into 2 or 3 frequency bands and feeds them into different dedicated amplifiers and
speakers for better sound. Signal processors ultimately process the sound to become better quality.
iX-12P
Made-in-Malaysia long-excursion LF driver
After the signal is processed, it will be fed to the Amplifiers. The Amplifier will apply gain to a signal. It magnifies the line-level signal and
reproduces it in a form that will drive a loudspeaker. First thing when choosing an amplifier, we must identify the class of the amplifier.
Typical classes in the market are Class A, Class B, Class AB, Class H and Class D. Loudspeakers convert electrical energy into acoustic
energy. Although similar principles apply to all kinds of loudspeakers, there are differences in the way they are used. There are full range
loudspeakers, multi-enclosure loudspeakers, monitors, subwoofers and others.
Javelin throw HF driver
150W acoustic speaker
For a beginner or smart beginner, industry standard power rating is a must-know knowledge. There are 3 industry ratings. There are RMS
power, Program Power and Peak Power. RMS power is based on the AES Standard where the loudspeaker is driven 8 hours continuously
and must not break down. This is a proven power rating and when amplifiers and loudspeakers are pair appropriately, there should be no
problem at all. Program power is also called handling power. It is two times of the RMS power. These are the best rating for amplifier
matching and to provide sufficient power, kick and punch to the sound. Finally, the Peak power is the maximum power that can be handled
by a loudspeaker. It is four times of the RMS power. This power is instantaneous and loudspeaker is able to sustain this power for less
than a second. Any longer than that, and the loudspeaker will burn.

Frequency Spectrum
The RTA’s display in frequency spectrum allows you to see the amount of energy present in various frequency ranges, typically fractional
octave bands, across the audible spectrum. The RTA plot puts magnitude on the (vertical) y-axis and frequency on the (horizontal) x-axis.

Frequency Transfer Function (decibel)
A transfer function is a mathematical comparison of complex FFT data from two signals — typically the input and output of a device or
system. SmaartLive uses this calculation to find how one signal differs from the other. In Kolej Komuniti case, original pink noise and
measured pink noise is compared.
Frequency Transfer Function (phase)
Phase display in Transfer Function mode shows the phase shift, or time difference in the measurement signal relative to the reference
signal frequency by frequency.
Spectrograph
Spectrograph is a way of looking at changes in RTA data over some period of time. The Spectrograph display plots time (in FFT frames)
on the x-axis and frequency on the y-axis with amplitude represented by color. The Spectrograph display effectively shows you three
dimensional data (time, frequency and energy) on a two dimensional plot with time on the x axis, frequency on the y axis and magnitude
represented by color.
SPL
SPL History display allows you to look at changes in broadband signal level or Sound Pressure Level (SPL) over some period of time. SPL
is a broadband measurement encompassing all audible frequencies.
