Hours: 8:15 am – 12:45 pm (snacks will be provided)

Summer Literacy Program:
Summer School Program Code: Summer Literacy 2016
Criteria: The program is designed for students who are
experiencing gaps in literacy.
Details of Program:
Children participating will take
part in a “STAR Reading”
component to measure their
reading level on the first and last
day of the program. The
curriculum is designed to include
literacy games, activities, and an
emphasis on the fun of reading and writing. Literacy is
embedded into fun camp activities to provide an intensive
literacy experience.
Summer Numeracy Program:
Summer School Program Code: Summer Numeracy 2016
Criteria: The program is designed for students who are
experiencing gaps in numeracy.
Details of Program:
Children participating will take part in a “STAR Reading and
Math” component to measure their abilities level on the first
and last day of the program. The curriculum is designed to
include numeracy games, activities, and
an emphasis on the fun of using mathematics.
Mathematics is embedded into fun camp
activities to provide an intensive numeracy
experience.
Aboriginal Art & Literacy Program:
Summer School Program Code: FNMI 2016
Criteria: The program is designed for students who are
experiencing gaps in literacy.
Details of Program:
Children participating will take part in a “STAR Reading”
component to measure their reading level on the first and
last day of the program. This culturally relevant
curriculum is designed to include literacy games, activities,
and an emphasis on the fun of reading and writing.
Students will be exposed to the Seven Grandfather
Teachings, Métis history, culture and the Pow Wow
experience. Local First Nation artists and community
members will be frequent guest speakers and co-facilitators
of traditional cooking lesson and culturally based activities.
Attached you will find the registration form for the
above Summer Programs. Enrollment is limited and
parents will receive a phone call to confirm whether
your child has been admitted into the program. Parents
need to be committed to the entire duration of the
program, we will not be accepting registrations for
those who can’t commit.
In addition, parents are responsible for transportation.
Completed application forms are to be submitted to
your child’s school no later than Friday June 3rd.
