Access to Media Services Race Weekend
Media and media staff will have access to the appropriate media service with
their Media Passes. These areas are:

Access to Athlete Interviewing Area/VIP Tent
Race Weekend Information
The Race Day Media Areas will be located in the VIP Tent that is adjacent to
both the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K & 5K and Publix Gasparilla Half
Marathon & 8K Finish Lines. The winners of each event will be directed to the
VIP Tent and will be available to the Media for interviews.
Those people authorized to ride the 15K Media Truck on Saturday morning,
February 20th, will need to check in at Brorien St. & Ashley St., no later than
6:15am. For the 5K, please check-in no later than 8:45am.
On Sunday morning, February 21st, the Media Truck will join up with the Half
Marathon runners at mile 5 (Magnolia & Bayshore Blvd.). Due to the morning
darkness of the course, the Media Truck will not go onto Davis Islands. Please
check-in at Magmnolia & Bayshore no later than 6:15am.
For the 8K, check-in at Bayshore & Bay St no later than 9am.

Classic 15K Start on Brorein St. and travel west to Little Bayshore Blvd. then South on
Bayshore Blvd. through the first mile marker at the intersection of S. Inman Ave. and
Bayshore Blvd. Continue South on Bayshore Blvd. through the second mile marker at
Albany St. and Bayshore Blvd.
Mile 2 to 4 (Runners: 7:00 a.m – 7:54 a.m.)
Continue South on Bayshore Blvd. through the third mile marker at the intersection of
Santiago Ave & Bayshore Blvd. Continue Southwest to the fourth mile marker at the
intersection of Knights Ave. and Bayshore Blvd.
Mile 4 to 6 (Runners: 7:10 a.m. – 8:21 a.m.)
Continue Southwest on Bayshore Blvd. to Gandy Blvd. and turn Right. Continue West
to turn-around on Gandy Blvd.just past Quincy Ave. Head East on Gandy Blvd. backto

Continue Northeast on Bayshore Blvd. to the ninth mile marker just past Davis Islands

15K & 5K Logistics and Services
The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Course offers participants unique amenities,
entertainment and other services throughout the course. The 2016 course will feature
the following:
Signage, Clocks and Checkpoints
Mile 2 to 3.1 (Runners: 9:09 a.m – 9:48.m.
Mile markers and clocks are posted at every mile. ChronoTrack timing mats are located
at the start, finish, and the turnaround of the 15K
Continue North on Bayshore Blvd. to the Finish Line at Tarpon Dock.
Beverages and Food
Zephyrhills Spring Water is available at the start / finish line at nine Aid Stations
throughout the 15K course and five aid stations on the 5K course. Gatorade is available
at the finish Line.

MarathonFoto captures participant photographs before, during and after the Marathon,
and makes the images available online for viewing, sharing and purchasing at www.
marathonfoto.com.
Toilets
Portable toilets are located at each Aid Station throughout the course.
15K & 5K Finish Line Village
Official Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K and 5K finish times are recorded and
scored at the timing tent locacted at the Finish Line. Finishers receive a Finisher’s medal
and refreshments including Zephyrhills Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance Formula.
Tampa General Hospital medical personnel are stationed near the Finish Line.
Finishers are then directed to the TCC Front Drive. Here participants can enjoy
Smoothie King smoothies, Publix bananas, Dole fruit bowls, Coca-Cola and Kashi Bars .

All participants in the Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon start at the intersection of Platt
Street and Little Bayshore Blvd . The route travels West on Platt Street and turn left
onto Davis Island turn left onto Arbor Place then right onto Columbia Drive. Then
continue traveling through the first mile marker at Marjorie Park. Continue Southeast
on Columbia, turn left on Barbados, then turn right on Channel Drive. Continue on
Channel through the second mile marker at the intersection of Columbia Dr. and
Channel Dr.

the Bayshore/Davis Island access bridge travelling through the fifth mile marker on
the access bridge. Continue onto Bayshore Blvd South bound through the sixth mile

The Gasparilla Half Marathon Course offers participants unique amenities,

Continue South on Bayshore Blvd. to the turn around at Mason /Stovall Ave. Travel
North on Bayshore Blvd. through the third mile marker at the intersection of S. Carolina
Ave. Continue North to the forth mile marker at the intersection of Willow and Bayshore
Blvd.
Mile 4 to Finish Line (Runners: 9:50 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.)
Continue North on Bayshore Blvd. to the Finish Line at Tarpon Dock
Zephyrhills Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance Formula is available at the start and
at 9 beverage stations throughout the course. Gatorade Chews will be distributed at
mile 5 and mile 9.
Music
Entertainers are located throughout the half marathon course.

*Prize money will only be distributed to persons who are USA Citizens and eligible
to represent the United States in all levels of international competition.
** Only those runners who reside in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Hernando,
Manatee & Sarasota Counties on a full-time basis (365 days a year) will be eligible
to compete for the Local Prize Purse. Prize money will not be awarded until fulltime residency is verified.
