Use the POR-15 System to

Stop Rust Permanently!
POR-15® products are designed to work as a complete system. When used
together, they provide you with a coating that not only stops rust, but prevents it
from returning. To aid you in your rusty metal project, we’ve included the following steps to explain various stages in rust prevention. All POR-15® products are
available individually, and many are available in money-saving kits geared to your
specific restoration need. Here is how the system works:

STEP 1 - Clean & Degrease Surface
Clean metal surfaces with water-based POR-15®
Cleaner Degreaser. It is environmentally safe,
removes dirt, grease, wax and other contaminants
that interfere with restoration. See page 6 for more
information.

STEP 2 - Neutralize Rust; Etch Metal
Spray POR-15® Metal Prep on the surface to remove
rust or prepare it for POR-15® Rust Preventive
Coating. Metal Prep neutralizes rust, etches metal
for better adhesion, and coats it with zinc phosphate
for permanent adhesion. See page 7 for more
information.
STEP 3 - Apply Rust Preventive
Coating to Surface
Apply 2 thin coats of POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating.
You’ll get an unbelievably tough, hard, finish that won’t
crack, chip, or peel. It’s so tough you can pound it with a
hammer and not damage it! That’s REAL protection! See
page 8-9 for more information.
STEP 4 - Topcoat the Surface
Finish your job with a POR-15® Top Coat or any other
POR-15® coating that suits your needs. See pages
20-23 for more information on topcoats.

POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser cleans and degreases
in one application without leaving residues, noxious fumes or flammable solvents. No other cleaner
works as fast or as well. It makes petroleum-based
cleaners almost obsolete because it can be diluted
with water to 3, 4, 5, and even 10 times its volume
while remaining even more potent than other
cleaners. POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser removes
grease, oil, mildew, algae, musty odors, soap films

dry through evaporation, but POR-15® dries faster when
moisture is present. It has the opposite chemistry of

Step-by-Step Restoration
Before: This fuel tank had small pin
hole leaks on the end near the seam.
Step 1: Mix 1 quart Cleaner Degreaser
with one quart of hot water. This solution
will be used to remove any gum, varnish
or sludge from the inside of the tank.
Step 2: Pour in the entire bottle of Metal
Prep to dissolve rust, coat the tank with
zinc phosphate, and etch the metal for
better adhesion of the sealer.
Step 3: After the tank is clean, drain
the tank and rinse thoroughly with
water. Let the tank dry. When totally
dry, pour in the entire can of Fuel
Tank Sealer
Step 4: After all surfaces have been
coated, drain the tank for about an hour
to remove excess sealer from the tank.
Step 5: Once repaired, use a fuel
preservative & stabilizer to keep your
entire fuel system in proper working
order and to avoid “stale gas” problems in your future!

For years we’ve worked on a primer to paint over well-cured
POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating. We wanted one that
was buildable and sandable and easy to apply. POR-15®
High Build Primer was the answer, developed several years
ago. It has great interlocking adhesion qualities and very
little preparation is necessary to get a top-notch bond. With
a solids content of 60%, High Build Primer has all the body
it needs to do the job right with great leveling as well to
overcome surface irregularities. Compatible with all paint

POR-15® Self Etch Primer is engineered specifically as a
bonding coat for POR-15®. It is not a high-build primer. Try

Top Coat

Gloss Black has a beautiful glossy black finish and is perfect for
restoring the gloss black frames, chassis and under hood parts of earlier
vehicles.
Chassis Black has a smooth, satiny semi-gloss finish, and is probably
more “correct as original” for under hood and chassis components for
cars produced in the USA from the early 1950’s to today.
Silver has a medium-gloss silver appearance.

POR-15® High Temp is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures
up to 1200°F and will resist cracking, chipping, and peeling. Brush on or

Rubberized
Under Coating
POR-15® Rubberized Undercoating is a flexible, paintable, black coating. It is the only undercoating with POR15 Technology and will protect against moisture, dust, heat
and cold. It’s an excellent moisture barrier for application over
auto body repairs and creates an effective sound barrier
that reduces vibration and deadens sound in wheel wells,
quarter panels, fenders, frames and under carriages. Provides
superior adhesion to both painted and unpainted surfaces.
POR-15 Rubberized Undercoating has superior resistance
to road salt and will resist chipping and abrasions. May be
used to insulate against engine and muffler noise, protects
against dust penetration and exhaust fumes.

Here is the most effective reinforcing fabric we have ever
found for use in repairs. While most fabrics tend to bunch
or bulge, POR-15® PowerMesh lays flat, nicely, while
you coat it with POR-15®. It’s perfect for repairing holes in

alcohol and other solvents. We decided to make our own

solvents which can remove vital plasticizers, and lower the life
expectancy from vinyl and rubber. Our special combination
of premium chemicals turned into a terrific product, which
we call POR-15® Boss Gloss. We were delighted to learn
that, as a side effect, Boss Gloss seems to repel dust too!

POR-15® Floor Armor Concrete Patching/Repair Kit is an advanced self-leveling
patching compound engineered to repair and fill concrete surfaces that will be
coated with POR-15® Floor Armor. It permanently penetrates and bonds to concrete
and provides structural and decorative patching, resurfacing and
restoration by filling cracks and missing sections of concrete.
