As Gail and Eva once saw the reflection of enthusiasm grow in the eyes of their young sons, they are now enjoying the addition of a third generation
to their family business. Equally enthusiastic about archery, three new family members have dedicated themselves to providing customers with quality
products and excellent service. Terry’s son Ryan Martin, now carrying the duties of Bow Production Supervisor, competes in target archery at the
national level and enjoys bowhunting. Terry’s daughter Christy Martin-Lotz is involved as Manager of the Martin Traditional Division. Dan’s son Shawn
Martin, himself an accomplished bowhunter, dedicates his time to Customer Service.

Axle Length
Axle length—the length of the bow from tip to tip—is an important consideration when buying a new bow. Generally speaking, the longer the bow is
the more forgiving it will be, but if you have a short draw length (28" or under) you can select a shorter axle length without any adverse affects to your
accuracy. A short axle length, around 33" to 40", will give a short-draw shooter more speed and range. Shooters with long draw lengths (30" and up)
will need a longer bow. The longer axle lengths, 38" to 43", will increase forgiveness without affecting arrow speed.

The Quick Pin Quiver is the slickest quiver mounting design ever developed. The quiver pin plugs into a receptacle on the riser
and a knob on the opposite side is tightened to lock it into place. To remove the quiver is simple—all you have to do is loosen
the knobs and press them in. The quiver then easily separates from the bow.

Selecting Bows For Women And Children
Archery is a great sport to get children involved in. It grows with them as they grow and gives them skills they can take with them wherever
they go in life. Archery gives young people self-confidence and sense of worth. It helps them learn to be calm under pressure and focus on
the task at hand. While kids are having fun with archery they are also learning the composure and self-discipline required for the sport. You
have only to watch teenage athletes winning medals in Olympic archery tournaments to see what incredible mental concentration archery builds.

Martin Archery has a bow to fit everyone. When you are ready to buy a youth or women’s bow there are a few things to consider:
1. See your local dealer and make sure the draw length is fitted properly.
2. A bow that is too heavy will be hard to aim and shoot for long periods of time. Make sure the size and weight of your bow is controllable.
3. The draw weight should be kept light. Better to start light while polishing your technique, then increase the weight as you progress.
4. Don’t be overly concerned with speed. Accuracy will win more tournaments and take more deer than speed.

Stabilizers
A stabilizer is an important part of your bow setup because it does just as its name implies—helps you to aim solidly by adding
weight and changing the balance point of your bow. The stabilizer also performs one more important task that you may not be aware
of. When you release the string during the shooting process, there is an instant when the string has to fall 27 or more inches before
the arrow is launched—an instant when you have no control over the shot. The stabilizer helps to keep your bow stable during
this critical split second, and will help to tighten your arrow groups dramatically.

Arrow Rests
Choosing the right arrow rest can seem confusing because there are so many different designs available. You can simplify your choice
by dividing arrow rests into two categories—those designed for finger shooters and those designed for archers who use release aids.
If you draw and release your arrow with your fingers, you’ll want an arrow rest that offers side or horizontal support, such as a
plunger button or spring arm. Because arrows drawn and released with the fingers flex horizontally as they pass through the bow,
these types of rests are most suited to stabilize this arrow flight and give the best results.

Should I get a recurve or a longbow?
After you’ve decided to shoot with a traditional bow, you must still decide whether you’re going to use a recurve or a longbow. The fast,
natural pointing ability and the forgiveness of the longbow makes it a great bow for beginners—and experienced shooters, too. The

While many of today’s archers choose to use a mechanical release, there are quite a few of us who prefer to draw and release our arrows
with our fingers—the old fashioned way. Gloves or tabs give you the satisfaction of drawing and releasing an arrow with the fingers
while avoiding placing the fingers directly against the bowstring. Shooting gloves, which fit around the fingers much like regular gloves,
offer convenience and the ability to quickly ‘get on the string’ and be ready to shoot. Other activities can be accomplished without removing
a shooting glove. A tab wraps around the fingers and, since it allows all of your fingers to act as a single unit, tends to be more forgiving
and consistent. Pressure applied to the bowstring is kept even through the flat surface of a tab and the tendency to pinch the arrow is
greatly reduced. If as a finger-shooter your priority is convenience, you’ll want a glove. If accuracy is your focus, you’ll choose a tab.

Selecting And Building Arrows
Wood? Aluminum? Carbon? Which kind of arrow does your bow prefer? Actually, your bow doesn’t really care! As long as an arrow is undamaged, of proper stiffness, and has a minimum of mass
weight, it will shoot from your bow—regardless of what it’s made of. (Most bow manufacturers require six grains of arrow weight per pound of draw weight; Martin bows require only five.)
So what makes one material better than another? It all depends on what you’re looking for as an archer.
If you appreciate the traditional aspects of archery, you’ll favor wood arrows. Wood arrows are easily tapered to accept many traditional-style heads and—since they’re non-metallic—are arguably
quieter as they pass through the bow. If you’re looking for an arrow material that’s superior to wood in weight consistency and in straightness, you’ll use aluminum arrows. While wood arrows
must be straightened and carefully weighed to match, aluminum arrows eliminate this need. If you want cutting-edge technology, you’ll get carbon arrows. Carbon is the very latest in arrow materials.
Not only can carbon arrows be relied upon for straightness, they stay straight when other arrow materials bend. Carbon shafts are stiffer than wood or aluminum of comparable weight, so less
material is required—resulting in lighter, faster arrows. Carbon makes a more effective hunting arrow, since it’s more efficient at dissipating vibration, and the reduced energy loss upon impact
provides increased target penetration.

Sharpening Heads
For hunting purposes, your broadheads need to be as sharp as possible to better your chances of recovery. That’s why replaceable blade heads are the most popular style on the market today. It’s a
good idea to keep a set of sharp blades ready to go at all times—and a set of dull blades on hand for practice.
Many hunters still use the fixed-blade style heads. These heads are generally tougher than replaceable ones and must be sharpened before they are used. Sharpening these heads to razor sharpness
is crucial, requiring skill and practice. There are many tools on the market that make re-sharpening broadheads easier. Check out the broadhead sharpeners on page 78.
You can test the sharpness of your heads with a simple rubber band. Take the rubber band in your fingers, stretch it tight, then touch your broadhead to it. The blade should break the rubber band
without much pressure or effort. If it doesn’t, it’s not sharp enough to hunt with.

Target Optics
Like other archery equipment, the type of target scope you select depends on what kind of shooting you’ll be doing.
The 0 power scopes—like the #1201 scope—have a larger field of view and allow for greater light transmission. These are great for 3-D shooting and indoor archery, where low-light
conditions can occur.
“Spot” or target shooters primarily use the small diameter scopes like the #1220 Vegas Top Gun. When you are shooting at a multicolored bull’s-eye, the field of view can be smaller.
The smaller ring of the scope fits the rings of the target better, helping the aiming process.
If you’re just getting started in archery, it’s best to choose a lower magnification level while getting used to using a scope, since higher power scopes can make you feel unsteady. The
lenses are interchangeable in most scopes, so you can move up in magnification as you gain prowess. 3-D shooters tend to use no power or low power to see the entire kill zone in the
scope. If they use a lens, they usually shoot with a 4x or less. Indoor shooters usually use a higher power—4x or more—in order to aim more precisely.

Which Arrow Rest For Y ou?
Choosing the right arrow rest can seem confusing because there are so many different designs available. But you can simplify your choice by dividing arrow rests into two categories—those designed
for finger shooters and those designed for archers who use release aids.
If you draw and release your arrow with your fingers, you’ll want an arrow rest that offers side or horizontal support, such as a plunger button or spring arm. Because arrows drawn and released
with the fingers flex horizontally as they pass through the bow, this is the rest most suited to stabilize this arrow flight and give the best results. If you use a mechanical release aid, your arrow

How To Choose A Bow Quiver
One-piece quivers can be removed and conveniently mounted to a tree limb within close reach of the seat of your tree stand. Two-piece quivers, for use on bow models that will directly accept them,
provide the greatest reduction of mass weight. You’ll be glad to know that all Martin bows currently allow you to directly mount a two-piece quiver.
Smaller quivers with five-arrow capacity provide further weight reduction while quivers with an eight or ten arrow capacity are great for situations where multiple shots are a possibility.
Further consideration may also be given to your arrow diameter, as some quivers are adaptable for use with either large aluminum or small carbon arrows.
Make sure you get a bow quiver that attaches solidly to the bow and holds the arrows firmly to prevent noise from vibration. A good bow quiver also has an arrowhead cap to prevent razor-sharp

Why A Bowsling?
If you apply too much pressure to the grip with your bow hand, you won’t shoot as accurately. A relaxed grip on the bow hand helps to prevent “riser torque” and the frustrating leftright effect it has on accuracy. Unfortunately, the proper grip and follow-through technique that is important for accuracy can also allow your bow to fall after release of the arrow. This
is why every archer needs to use a bowsling. A comfortable, loose-fitting bowsling will allow you to practice proper grip and follow-through without worrying about dropping your bow.

• Specify method of shipping — Airmail, Parcel Post,
United Parcel Service, RPS, or Auto Freight — or we
will ship by the least expensive means.
• In the United States only, one-half freight allowed
on orders of $750 or more at net wholesale, if paid
according to our terms. On orders with freight allowance,
deduct freight only if paid within 30 days after shipment
and only if shipped by least expensive means.
• No prepaid freight.
• Many Martin Archery products are now packaged
with U.P.C. Coding. Martin Archery, Inc., however, will
assume no liability or obligation to any customer for
U.P.C. coding errors regardless of fault or source of error.
• The responsibility of Martin Archery Inc. for delivery
or damage of goods ceases when title passes to the
Buyer, and therefore, Martin Archery Inc.’s responsibility
ceases as soon as the goods are delivered to the
Carrier. Thereafter, responsibility for nondelivery,
damage, and payment of goods resides in the Buyer.
Claims against the Carrier must be made by the Buyer
within time limits specified by the Carrier.
