INTRODUCTION
This manual contains a complete list of the parts for the Ozzie’s Mini Series Backfill
Separation (padding) Machine, and instructions on how to order replacement parts.
Work involving earth moving equipment can be dangerous, and can result in injury or death
for the operator or for maintenance and support personnel. Most accidents involving
equipment operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by a failure to adhere to basic
safety principles. All personnel must remain alert to potential hazards at all times and take
appropriate precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Never operate or work on machines
unless you have been properly trained.

INTRODUCTION
OZZIES
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read these safety instructions before starting any maintenance or repair
operation. Understand and follow these instructions during all maintenance or
repair operations.
 These instructions are meant to supplement your site specific safety information. You
should understand and follow your site specific safety guidelines and rules at all times, in
addition to these instructions.
 WARNING: Maintenance or repair of this machine can be dangerous unless performed
properly. All persons performing maintenance or repair should be properly trained, should
use the appropriate tools and equipment, and should follow the relevant safety procedures
at all times. Ozzie’s dealers are available to provide training, and to answer any questions.
 Do not attempt to perform any maintenance or repair work unless all equipment is lowered
and the hydraulics inoperable. The engine must be stopped, the disconnect switch turned
off, and the key removed before starting any work (unless otherwise specified).
 Wear a hard hat, protective shoes and protective glasses.
 Limit air pressure to 20 kPa (30 psi) when cleaning with air. Never point an air nozzle
toward anyone.
 Know the rating on cables, chains and slings before using them.
 If machine start up could cause injury, attach a ‘DO NOT OPERATE’ or similar warning
tag to the machine start switch before starting work on the machine. These tags are
available from your Ozzie’s dealer.
 Use steps and grab irons, and face the machine when climbing on or off the machine.
 Store rags that have oil or other flammable material on them in a protective container,
away from open fires, welding, or flame cutting areas.
 Operate the engine only in a well-ventilated area. If it is necessary to operate in a closed
area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
 There are certain hazards which must be recognized as potential causes of personal injury.
Be aware of these hazards listed in the next sections, and follow the recommendations.
General Machine Hazards
 Do not use kinked or frayed cable, as it is weaker and may fail. Wear gloves when handling
cable.
 Chips can fly from a steel object or hammer. Wear protective glasses when hammering on
steel, drifts, punches, or chisels. Never strike a punch, drift, or chisel that has a
mushroomed end.
 Any attachment can fall if a control is moved or a hydraulic line breaks.
 Support equipment when working beneath it. Do not depend on hydraulic cylinders to hold
it up.
Elevator Hazards
 Use caution when working around the elevator. Personal injury can result if the elevator or
conveyor is accidentally turned on while persons are on or close to the elevator.
 Be careful when adjustments are being done while the machine is moving or the engine is
running.
Conveyor Hazards
 Use caution when working around the conveyor. Personal injury can result if the elevator
or conveyor is accidentally turned on while persons are on or close to the conveyor.

 Be careful when adjustments are being done while the machine is moving or the engine is
running.
Engine Hazards
 The fan blades will throw or cut any object or tool that falls or is pushed into them.
Burns
 Lubricants will be hot enough to cause serious burns after machine compartments are up
to normal temperature. Allow the compartments to cool before draining lubricant.
 The hydraulic system will be pressurized by hot air in the top of the tank when the system
is at operating temperature.
 Never remove the hydraulic tank cap when the oil is hot. Remove the hydraulic tank cap
slowly to relieve tank pressure. Allow the tank to cool before draining oil.
Oil, Fuel, and Fluids
 Diesel fuel and all lubricants are flammable.
 Do not weld or flame cut on pipes or tubes that contain oil. Clean them thoroughly with
non-flammable solvent before welding or flame cutting on them.
 Do not smoke when refueling, or when working in areas containing fuels.
 Avoid overfilling fuels; clean up oil spills; and steam clean the machine as required to
reduce the risk of fire or explosion.
 Keep all lubricants stored in properly marked containers, and away from children.
 Never put maintenance fluids in glass bottles or in any glass container.
 Keep a close watch for leaks. If leaking is observed, find and correct the source of the leak,
and clean up the leaked fluid.
 Check the fluid levels more frequently than the recommended periods if leaking is
suspected or observed.
Lines, Tubes, and Hoses
 Loose or damaged lines, tubes, and hoses, which leak, can cause fires.
 Do not bend or strike high pressure lines. Do not install bent or damaged lines, tubes or
hoses.
 Inspect all lines, tubes and hoses carefully. Tighten all connections to the recommended
torque. Make sure that all clamps, guards and heat shields are installed correctly to prevent
vibration, rubbing against other parts, or excessive heat during operation.
 Shields, which protect hot exhaust components from oil or fuel spray, in the event of a
line, tube, or seal failure, must be installed correctly.
Battery
 Charging a battery produces a vapor, hydrogen, which is explosive. Do not smoke when
checking batteries, or working around them. Make certain that the disconnect switch is off
when working around batteries.
 A spark at a connection near a battery can cause an explosion. See the Operating Manual
for special precautions when boost starting.
 Battery electrolyte is an acid. Contact with it will harm skin and eyes.

SECTION 0.2: HOW TO FIND PART NUMBERS
This manual is designed to be displayed over two pages. The illustrations of the assemblies
and sub-assemblies are shown on the left hand (even-numbered) pages. Their component
parts are shown exploded out from the assembly, and are identified with callout numbers.
The parts list tables are shown on the right hand (odd-numbered) pages. The picture below
shows an example of a pair of part manual pages, followed by explanations of each section.

Section A (Header Block)
The header block is displayed at the top of every page. The outside edge has the document
name and version. The inside edge shows the Ozzie's logo.
Section B (Section Block)
The section block is on every page, below the header block. It has the section number, the
formal title of the assembly, and the assembly part number, where applicable.
It is important to understand that parts belong to sub-assemblies, and that sub-assemblies
belong to assemblies. If an entire assembly (or sub-assembly) is needed, then the assembly
part number should be used for the order. If only one or more of the component parts of a
sub-assembly or assembly are required, then refer to the parts list table for the correct
part number(s).

Section C (Illustration)
The illustrations are always displayed on the left hand page. This is a CAD drawing of an
assembly or sub-assembly, with its parts and/or sub-assemblies exploded out, and labeled
with callout numbers.
Use the diagram to find the part you need, and to determine its callout number. Use the
parts list table on the right hand page, and the callout number, to find the part number.
At the beginning of each new section, the main assembly for that section is shown with its
sub-assemblies exploded out. The ‘See Page’ column in the parts list table contains the
page number of the sub-assembly illustration.

Section D (Parts List Table)
The parts list table shows the List of parts or assemblies for each exploded piece in the
illustration, along with the quantity, description and page number of additional information
(if applicable). The columns of the parts list table are described below:
Item # – The callout number on the illustration.
Part # – The number of the assembly or part.
Qty. – The total quantity of this piece used in the assembly. All pieces may not be exploded
out in the illustration, but will still be counted. Bolt, nuts, and washers will only be counted
when they are directly being used in the illustration. In the sample on the previous page,
bolt used to attach the hitch plate will be used, but bolts inside the unexploded assembly
will not be shown.
Description – The formal part or assembly description. If it says assembly at the end of
description, then it is an assembly number, and you will need to go to the page listed under
‘See Page’ to get component part numbers for that assembly.
The majority of parts follow the material defaults listed in the table below. If the parts are
not made of the material in the default table, then the material will be shown inside
parenthesis ().
See Page – If the piece exploded in the illustration is an assembly, then the page number
of the illustration for that assembly will be shown here. If the assembly can only be ordered
as a whole assembly (that is, if none of the component parts can be ordered, e.g. the dirt
deflector), then no page number will be shown.
Section E (Footer Block)
Located at the bottom of each page, the footer block has the page number on the outside
edge, and has the name of the main assembly that the illustrated assembly belongs to, on
the inside edge. For example, the cutting blade sub-assembly, part number 130-0006, has
its own two pages, but at the bottom of those pages, the footer reads ‘Final Assembly’,
because the cutting blade is considered part of the final assembly.
