The Best Municipal Sludge Dryer Wyse uses Wyssmont®’s ® TURBO-DRYER Dryer THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE SLUDGE DRYER UNATTENDED TROUBLE-FREE OPERATION WITH BEST QUALITY PRODUCT Field Demonstrated Performance Usual Features: Reliable unattended operation with all product on Spec Safe operation without inert gas blanket Odorless, dustless, uniformly dried product Odorless operation (for most sludge drying applications) Dustless operation (no dust to surroundings) No dry material back-feeding Meets criteria for making “Class A” Bio-solids Automatically adjusts to varying feed rates Lowest operating cost High on-stream time, often runs for years without shutdown for any reason Low maintenance: usually less than 1% of the capital cost per year High thermal efficiency Lowest horsepower demand of any continuous dryer Easy start-up (usually 1-2 days) Smallest footprint Accurate scale up Precise temperature control Cooling section on the bottom available Outdoor or indoor installation TURBO-DRYER® Dryer Results OBJECTIVE: A wastewater treatment facility located in Quebec Canada must meet tough standards for sludge drying and land application. Safe, odorless operation Reliable production of dry sludge from 27% dry solids to above 92% dry solids Meet Canadian criteria for agricultural land spreading, that also conforms to US EPA Class A bio-solids processing DUSTLESS, and ODORLESS OPERATION & END PRODUCT TEST RESULTS The TURBO-DRYER® Dryer unit achieved the dryness & temperature requirements in order to achieve a Class A Criteria. Safety and processing targets were met while maintaining a clean operating environment. The unit delivered: A dust free environment – a key characteristic of both a safety and a hygienic workplace. A granular and odor free product (In contrast, dusty dried product poses ignition and explosion hazards) No detectable odors observed during dryer operation LABORATORY TEST METHOD: Based on results of laboratory tests performed on wet product samples, the TURBO-DRYER® dryer installed at the wastewater facility demonstrated highly successful performance. ___________________________________________________________________________ Unit – L24 TURBO-DRYER® Dryer Unit Dimensions: 6’ Diameter x 12’ Height Skid Mounted System 304 SS construction for all internal surfaces Variable speeds for trays and TURBO-Fans Multiple Screw Feeder Dual External Heating System, electric and propane burner Fresh air supply fan Interconnecting ductwork with control dampers Control panel with mounted controls and instrumentation The unit was equipped with a specially-designed hot air delivery manifold system with baffles that further prevented hot inlet air from coming into direct contact with the sludge on the drying trays. The TURBO fans delivered a uniformly distributed and controlled lower temperature hot air mixture across the sludge material and across the entire vertical structure of the TURBO-DRYER® dryer’s internals. Also as a result of the above noted design features, our dryers deliver a precisely controlled & uniform temperature drying atmosphere, consequently minimizing sludge overheating or baking. The Wyssmont® dryer system operates under a mild vacuum. Low odor characteristics of the dried sludge product were corroborated by a certified third-party lab specializing in odor measurement testing. Air Samples from 3 sources were taken from the following areas to determine Odor Unit Levels: dried sludge product ambient air in proximity to the dryer (out-loading area) dryer exhaust.
