About Croatia
On the brink between Middle Europe
and Mediterranean, Croatia is as diverse
as its landscapes. A country of dramatic
mountainous landscapes and dreamy
deep-blue seascapes combines the timeless
unspoiled nature coupled with beautifully
preserved centuries-old architecture and a
lively contemporary cultural scene.
Although Croatia’s rocky stretch of the
Adriatic is not suitable for large-scale tourist
development, it is astoundingly beautiful.
Nearly 2000 km long coastline of a crystalclear turquoise sea with over 1000 islands
offer numerous small pebble coves backed by
pinewoods, fishing villages, remote lighthouse
islets, secluded coves and Robinson-Crusoestyle atolls and family beaches.
This small country also abounds with diversity
of national parks among which certainly the
most famous are Plitvice Lakes, Krka waterfalls,
the island of Mljet, Kornati islands and Brijuni
archipelago.
Historical footprints can be best followed
by visiting city destinations such as Zagreb,
Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar rich with Roman,
Byzantine, Venetian and Austro-Hungarian
historical monuments and cultural influence.
The historic centres of Dubrovnik and Split
are UNESCO world heritage sites, as well as
the cathedrals in Trogir and Šibenik and the
basilica in Poreč.
Gastronomy experience is also the important
and special highlight of Croatia. Its main assets
are locally sourced, prime-quality ingredients
from the land and sea, creatively prepared by
passionate chefs or cooked up home-style in
family-run taverns. Numerous wine regions of
Croatia are burgeoning like the country itself,
and its olive oils are also winning top awards.
Croatia also has a remarkable geographical
position in the region, allowing extended
visits to neighbouring countries Slovenia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro. Just
few kilometers drive from Croatia you will
have the possibility to experience a different
culture, language and traditional customs.
Geographical position
Croatia extends from the furthest Eastern edges
of the Alps in the North-West to the Pannonian
lowlands and the banks of the Danube in the
East; its central region is covered by the Dinara
mountain range, and its Southern parts extend
to the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Surface
The mainland covers 56,594 km2; surface area of
territorial waters totals 31,067 km2.
Population
4.338,410 inhabitants; composition of
population: majority of the population are
Croats; national minorities are Serbs, Slovenes,
Hungarians, Bosnians, Italians, Czechs and
others.

Multi-party parliamentary republic.
Capital
Zagreb (779,045 inhabitants), the economic, traffic,
cultural and academic centre of the country.
Coastline
5,835.3 km, of which 4,058 km comprise the
coastlines of islands, solitary rocks and reefs.

1,185; the largest islands are Cres and Krk;
there are 47 inhabited islands.

Dinara: 1,831 m above sea level.
Climate
Croatia has three climate zones; the
prevailing climate in the country’s interior
is moderately rainy; on the highest peaks a
forest climate with snow falls, while the areas
along the Adriatic coast have a pleasantly
mild Mediterranean climate with a large
number of sunny days; summers are dry and
hot, winters mild and wet with significant
precipitations. Average temperatures in
the interior: January: – 2 to 0°C, somewhat
lower at the highest altitudes; August: about
20°C and about 12°C on the highest peaks.
Average temperature in the littoral: January:
5 – 9°C, August: 23 – 27°C; sea temperature
in the winter: 2°C; in the summer, 23 – 25°C.

Kuna (1 kuna = 100 lipa). Foreign currency can
be exchanged in banks, exchange offices, post

DAY 1: ZAGREB
Arrival at the Zagreb airport. Transfer to hotel.
Overnight in hotel.
DAY 2: ZAGREB – OPATIJA
Breakfast. Morning city tour of Zagreb,
including the fortified mediaeval Upper Town,
St. Mark’s Church with it’s colourful roof, the
Cathedral of St. Stephen, the Stone Gate, the
University and the Croatian National Theatre.
Afternoon drive to Opatija, „The Queen of
Tourism“ of Croatia. Upon arrival walking tour
along the promenade of Opatija, once a resort
of the Habsburgs and European Royalty, as
well as personalities from the world of culture,
such as Gustav Mahler or A. P. Chekhov.
Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 3: OPATIJA – PULA – ROVINJ – OPATIJA
Breakfast and departure to Pula. Sightseeing
tour of Pula includes a visit to the Roman
amphitheatre Arena (1st century), one of the
best preserved in the world, Triumphal Arch of
Sergius, Temple of Augustus, Gate of Hercules
and Byzantine chapel of St. Maria Formosa.
Pula was the home of the Histrians, the
Romans and the Venetians. Once the central
Austrian port, today it is the largest cultural
and economic center of Istria. Various layers of
history took part in the making of this unique
town in which Roman temples defy Baroque
palaces, early Christian churches stand face
to face to Austrian villas, and the remnants
of Medieval walls are cut through by antique
town gates.
Continuation to Rovinj, one of the most
charming towns in the Adriatic. Feel the
enchantment of the town in its narrow

Medieval streets and warm Mediterranean
setting. The main Church of St. Euphemia
keeps relics of the saint and presents one of the
most beautiful Baroque achievements in Istria.
From the church plateau there is a wonderful
view of the open sea and numerous islets
in the distance. A visit to the Town Museum
and the town’s many galleries will complete
your cultural experience. Return to Opatija for
overnight.
DAY 4: OPATIJA – NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE –
ZADAR
Breakfast. Departure for Plitvice Lakes, the
largest national park in Croatia. The area of
Plitvice Lakes was declared a world heritage
site by UNESCO in 1979. It is breathtakingly
beautiful with its 16 lakes linked by waterfalls
and surrounded by dense forests. It will take us
almost 4 hours to explore the area by electric
boat and minibus and you will need a great
deal of film to record a fraction of the beauty
around you. In the afternoon we continue to
Zadar for overnight.
DAY 5: ZADAR – SPLIT
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing of Zadar
including the Roman Forum from the 2nd
century BC, St. Donatus Church from 9th
century, unique round Medieval construction
in Dalmatia and the Cathedral of St.
Anastasia.
Afternoon drive towards Split – a UNESCO
World Cultural Heritage site. The city grew
arround the palace-house of the Roman
Emperor Diocletian, born in the 3rd century.
Today within the grounds of the ancient
Diocletian’s Palace one can admire a beautiful

mixture of all styles that makes this city
unique and unforgettable.
We shall see Diocletian’s Palace (3rd century),
the Peristyle, the Cathedral of St. Domnius the
patron of the town and the Jupiter’s Temple.
Overnight in Split.
DAY 6: SPLIT – MOSTAR – DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Morning drive towards Mostar,
city of contrasts and culture, nested in the
deep valley of the river Neretva. The town
developed in the 15th century as an Ottoman
trading and frontier town and continued its
growth in the Austro-Hungarian period. The
ancient Turkish houses and the spectacular
Old Bridge give Mostar an oriental flavor...
The Old Bridge area, with Eastern Ottoman,
Mediterranean and Western European
architectural features is an outstanding
example of a multicultural urban settlement.
In the afternoon we continue to Dubrovnik for
overnight.
DAY 7: DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing tour of
Dubrovnik includes visits to the Franciscan
Monastery with one of the oldest pharmacies
in the world, the Rector’s Palace and the
Cathedral. We shall also see Orlando’s Column,
Bell Tower Clock and the Sponza Palace. In
the afternoon, we shall have free time for
individual visits and leisure. There will be
plenty of time for an optional touring on the
city walls with their magnificent fortresses and
towers. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 8: DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport of Dubrovnik.

DAY 1: ZAGREB

DAY 2: ZAGREB – KUMROVEC – TRAKOŠĆAN –
ZAGREB
Breakfast and departure for Hrvatsko Zagorje,
visit to Kumrovec ethno-village with its
traditional wooden houses and old crafts
(birthplace of ex president Tito). Continuation to
Trakošćan Castle (13th century) with its tower,
surrounded by a romantic park. We proceed
to Oršić, one of the most beautiful Baroque
castles of Hrvatsko Zagorje, with its Museum of
Peasants’ Mutiny in 1573. Return to Zagreb for
overnight.
Breakfast. Morning city tour of Zagreb, including
the fortified mediaeval Upper Town, St. Mark’s
Church, the Cathedral of St. Stephen, the
Stone Gate, the University and the Croatian
National Theatre. Afternoon drive to Opatija,
once the resort of the Habsburgs and European
Royalty, as well as personalities from the world
of culture, such as Gustav Mahler and A. P.
Chekhov. Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 4: OPATIJA – PULA – POREČ – OPATIJA

the 6th century Euphrasius Basilica, classified as
UNESCO’s World Cultural Monument. Return to
Opatija for overnight.

Breakfast. Departure to Plitvice Lakes, the
site in 1979. It is breathtakingly beautiful with
its 16 lakes linked by waterfalls and surrounded
by dense forests. It will take us at least 4 hours
to explore the area by boat and minibus and
you will need a great deal of film to record a
fraction of the beauty around you. Overnight
in Plitvice.
DAY 6: PLITVICE – NIN – ZADAR
Breakfast. Departure to Nin, the seat of the first
Croatian prince Višeslav (8th century), later the
first Croatian bishop. Here we visit two churches
of unique pre-Romanesque architecture, the
church of Holy Cross and St. Nicola’s Church.
We continue to Zadar for a sightseeing tour
including the Roman Forum, St. Donatus Church
and the Cathedral of St. Anastasia. Overnight in
Zadar.
DAY 7: ZADAR – KRKA – ŠIBENIK – SPLIT
Breakfast and departure for the Krka National
Park. Walking tour of the waterfalls. Continuation
to Sibenik and visit to the Cathedral of St. Jacob,
a masterpiece of the Gothic-Renaissance art,
included in the UNESCO’s List of World Cultural
Monuments. Overnight in Split.
DAY 8: SPLIT – TROGIR – SPLIT
Breakfast. Morning city tour of the Diocletian’s
Palace (3rd century) includes the Peristyle, the
Cathedral of St. Domnius and the Jupiter’s
Temple. Departure to Trogir, a picturesque
Medieval town, which is also included in the
UNESCO’s List of World Cultural Heritage. Visit

to St. Lawrence Cathedral with its magnificent
Romanesque portal dating from the 13th
century. Return to Split for overnight.
DAY 9: SPLIT – OMIŠ – MAKARSKA – TRSTENO –
DUBROVNIK
Breakfast and departure to Omiš, where we
shall have a short boat trip on the Cetina
river and a light snack. The next short stop is
Makarska, which combines the beauty of the
sea, beaches and the mountain of Biokovo. On
our way to Dubrovnik we also stop in Trsteno
to visit its famous Renaissance garden and
Arboretum. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 10: DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing tour
of Dubrovnik includes Franciscan and
Dominican Monasteries, the Rector’s Palace
and the Cathedral. In the afternoon, we will
tour the city walls with their magnificent
fortresses and towers. Overnight in
Dubrovnik.
DAY 11: DUBROVNIK – KORČULA – DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Drive through vineyards and
orchards along the Pelješac Peninsula takes us
to Orebić. Here we board a passenger boat for
a short crossing to the Island of Korčula. This
is said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo and
we shall be taken on an interesting tour along
the winding streets of this lovely town. On our
way back, we shall stop in Ston for a visit of its
15th century city walls and fortresses, and salt
ponds. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 12: DUBROVNIK

DAY 1: ZAGREB

Breakfast. Morning city tour of Zagreb,

DAY 3: OPATIJA – PULA – BRIJUNI – OPATIJA

Pula was the home of the Histrians, the

In the afternoon, the excursion to National
Park Brijuni islands, an archipelago of 14
islands only a few miles North from Pula. The
whole archipelago is under protection – the
islands preserve the traces of 5000 years of
human history. Only the biggest island Veli
Brijun is open for tourism and there we will
visit Safaripark, Ethno park, Olive tree from the
4th century, the ruins of Byzantine Castrum
and Roman Villa. Ethno park presents a typical
Istrian homestead with autochthonous animal
species: Istrian ox, Istrian sheep, donkeys and
goats. Coming back to the harbour, there will
be a possibility to visit the exhibition „Tito on
Brijuni“, Natural history collection, archeological
museum and exhibition of copies of frescoes
and Glagolitic inscriptions of Istria and Kvarner.
Return to Opatija for overnight.

DAY 4: OPATIJA – PLITVICE – ZADAR

DAY 5: ZADAR – KORNATI ISLANDS – ZADAR
Breakfast. Excursion to the National Park Kornati.
Departure by the boat to visit the archipelago
in the Northern Dalmatia that includes 147
uninhabited islands and islets. During the ride,
you will enjoy astonishing scenery marked by
steep cliffs or „crowns“ that make the coastline
unique and dramatic. Along there will be two
stops for swimming before the visit of the
nature park Telašćica, one of the largest and best
protected natural harbours on the Eastern coast
of the Adriatic. The bottom of the bay is mostly
covered with communities of sea-flowering
plants and habitats extremely rich on animal
life and very important for the reproduction
of many fish species. There will also be the
opportunity to swim in the salt lake „Mir“. Return
to Zadar for overnight.
DAY 6: ZADAR – ŠIBENIK – KRKA FALLS – SPLIT
Breakfast. Morning visit of the old town with
its pre-Romanesque church that dates from

around the 9th century which is a symbol of
Zadar. Right in front of the Church of St. Donat
are the remains of the Roman forum dating
from in the 1st century BC. At the end of the
Western Quay is Zadar’s newest feature, the
Sea Organ. This unusual organ is powered by
the wind and the sea. When the sea pushes air
through the whistles, a series of melancholy
chords are played. With the sound emerging
through the perforated stone stairs.
Departure to Šibenik. Visit of St. Jakov Cathedral
the symbol of the town, a part of UNESCO’s
world heritage, was being built for more than
a hundred years and is a true evidence of the
talent of its architectures, Juraj Dalmatinac
and Nikola Firentinac. The whole cathedral
was made of stone, without the use of other
materials and it contains of more than 70
portraits on its apses.
Continuation to the National Park Krka. The visit
will start with a walk exploring the pathways
and bridges before the boat ride that will take
us up-close to the waterfalls. A highlight of the
visit is certainly little island of Visovac which was
inhabited by hermits in the 15th-Century. We
will continue upstream to Roški slap, made of 12
smaller slopes and falls and the massive pools
and cascades of Skradinski buk considered
one of the most attractive calcium carbonate
waterfalls in Europe. Drive to Split for overnight.
Day 7: SPLIT – TROGIR – SPLIT
Breakfast. Morning visit of town Split whose
beauty dated since IV century B. C. when
Roman emperor Diocletian decided to build
his residential palace. This Roman palace is
very well preserved and today attracts with
its constructions and original walls but also
popular place for small shops which will be
visited. After that we visit the Cathedral of St.
Duje which is a complex of a church, formed
from an Imperial Roman mausoleum with
a bell tower; strictly the church is dedicated
to the Virigin Mary, and the bell tower to St.
Domnius. Together they form the Cathedral
of St. Domnius. Lunch at local restaurant and
drive towards Trogir, the small Old Town so rich
in history and culture that it is often referred to
as a “city museum” so it is easy to see why the
entire city was placed in the UNESCO world
heritage list. Return to Split for overnight.

Day 8: SPLIT – DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. In the morning free time in Split
for shopping and a pleasant walk. In the
afternoon, departure towards Dubrovnik. Arrival
in the evening and accommodation in hotel.
Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 9: DUBROVNIK
Monastery with one of the oldest pharmacies in
the world, the Rector’s Palace and the Cathedral.
We shall also see Orlando’s Column, Bell Tower
Clock and the Sponza Palace. In the afternoon,
we shall have free time for individual visits
and leisure. There will be plenty of time for an
optional touring on the city walls with their
magnificent fortresses and towers. Overnight in
Dubrovnik.
Day 10: DUBROVNIK – THE ISLAND OF MLJET –
DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Excursion by boat ride to the
National Park Mljet. The most visited part of
the Island is the green and unspoiled West,
where untouched Mediterranean vegetation
and two saltwater lakes (Malo jezero – Small
lake and Veliko jezero – Big lake) provide the
focus of the National Park. Both lakes are
encircled by foot-and cycle paths and you
can enjoy a pleasant swim in the lakes. A boat
from Veliko jezero will take us to a picturesque
St. Mary’s Island, where you will be rewarded
by a stunning view of the monastery
established by the Benedictines in the 12th
century. After the visit, return to Dubrovnik for
overnight.

Breakfast. Departure to Međugorje. Upon
your arrival to Međugorje the guide will take
us to the tour of shrine of Our Lady Queen of
Peace. The tour starts with introductory part
about shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace. The
program continues with visit to: Apparition hill –
place where everything started 24 of June 1981,
we will hear the story about first days of the
apparitions, and then you will climb Apparition
hill and spend some time at the apparition site
in a silent prayer. Blue cross – also a place of
many apparitions which is located at the base of

DAY 7: SPLIT

Breakfast. Drive towards Trogir, the small Old
Town so rich in history and culture that it is
often referred to as a “city museum” so it is easy
to see why the entire city was placed in the
UNESCO world heritage list.
In the afternoon, continuation to Zadar. Visit of
the old town with its pre-Romanesque church
that dates from around the 9th century which is
a symbol of Zadar. Right in front of the Church
of St. Donat are the remains of the Roman
forum dating from the 1st century BC. At the
end of the Western Quay is Zadar’s newest
feature, the Sea Organ. This unusual organ is
powered by the wind and the sea. When the
sea pushes air through the whistles, a series of
melancholy chords are played. With the sound
emerging through the perforated stone stairs.

DAY 9: ZADAR – OPATIJA
Breakfast. Departure for Opatija „The Queen of
Tourism“ of Croatia. Upon arrival walking tour
along the promenade of Opatija, once the resort
of the Habsburgs and European Royalty, as well
as personalities from the world of culture, such
as Gustav Mahler or A. P. Chekhov. The rest of
the day at leisure. Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 10: OPATIJA – PULA – ROVINJ – OPATIJA
and Byzantine chapel of St. Maria Formosa. Pula
was the home of the Histrians, the Romans and
the Venetians. Once the central Austrian port,
today it is the largest cultural and economic
center of Istria. Various layers of history took
part in the making of this unique town in which
Roman temples defy Baroque palaces, early
Christian churches stand face to face to Austrian
Zadar
villas, and the remnants of Medieval walls are
cut through by antique town gates.
Continuation to Rovinj, one of the most
charming towns in the Adriatic. Feel the
enchantment of the town in its narrow
Medieval streets and warm Mediterranean
setting. The main Church of St. Euphemia
keeps relics of the saint and presents one of the
most beautiful Baroque achievements in Istria.
From the church plateau there is a wonderful
view of the open sea and numerous islets
in the distance. A visit to the Town Museum
and the town’s many galleries will complete
your cultural experience. Return to Opatija for
overnight.
Ljubljana
on top of a steep cliff above the glacial Lake
Bled. Castle terraces offer spectacular views of
the lake and its tiny island in the middle. We
will take a boat ride with “Pletna” – traditional
boat made by locals and reach the only true
island in Slovenia, ring a “fortune bell” and
enjoy the beautiful reflection of the mountains
on the lake, sun, peace and fresh air or
continue to breath-taking beauty of Bled’s
Vintgar gorge, where wooden path leads along
rushing river Radovna. Return to Ljubljana for
overnight.
DAY 13: LJUBLJANA – ZAGREB
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport of Zagreb.

Breakfast. Morning drive towards Mostar, city
of contrasts and culture, nested in the deep
valley of the river Neretva. The town developed
in the 15th century as an Ottoman trading
and frontier town and continued its growth
in the Austro-Hungarian period. The ancient
Turkish houses and the spectacular Old Bridge
give Mostar an oriental flavor... The Old Bridge
area, with its Eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean
and Western European architectural features
is an outstanding example of a multicultural
urban settlement. After the visit we continue to

DAY 10: BUDVA – SKADAR – TIRANA
Breakfast. Departure from Montengro in the
morning towards Albania. On the way to
Tirana, stop in Skadar, one of Albania‘s oldest
cities. Drive to National Park Skadar Lake. Boat
ride around the lake from Rijeka Crnojevića to
Virpazar. Continuation to Tirana for overnight.
DAY 8: DUBROVNIK
We shall also see Orlando’s Column and Bell
Tower Clock. In the afternoon, free time for
magnificent fortresses and towers, or boat trip
to the island of Lokrum. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 9: DUBROVNIK – KOTOR – CETINJE – BUDVA
Breakfast. Departure towards Kotor, a scenic
drive towards the city in a secluded part
of the Gulf of Kotor and surrounded by

DAY 12: OHRID

Saint Climent and Saint Naum founded the

DAY 15: NIŠ – BELGRADE
Breakfast. Departure to Belgrade, the capital
and the largest city of Serbia. The city tour
will start from the lively Republic Square,
with a close inspection of its architectonic
monuments such as the National Theatre and
the National Museum. We continue along
Kneza Mihaila Street in order to see a few
masterpieces of Belgrade’s architecture: the
Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the
Serbian Crown Palace etc. In the inner core
of the Old Town you will see the National
Bank Palace and the ‘Question mark sign’ Inn,
visit Princess Ljubica’s Residence (currently
housing a permanent exhibition of original
furniture made in different styles) and the
Orthodox Cathedral. In a small 19th century
quarter with its narrow, cobblestone streets
we will see the archaeological remains of
the former National Library, destroyed in the
DAY 14: SKOPJE – PRIŠTINA – NIŠ
Breakfast. Departure to Priština, the capital
and largest city of Kosovo. Like most Balkan
cities, Priština suffered bombing in the Second
World War and also during the Kosovo crisis
in 1999; however most damage to cultural
monuments was caused by socialst planning
and modern neglect. The city tour includes
Faith Mosque, nearby Clock Tower (Sahat Kulla),
Mother Theresa Cathedral and the Statue of
Mother Theresa. After the visit, there will be
free time for a pleasant stroll around the former
bazaar area. In the afternoon, continuation to
Niš along the road and passing through a river
gorge. The visit starts with the famous Ćele Kula
(Skull Tower), where you will learn about the
atrocities committed by the Turks and see the
unique monument to the sacrifice of Serbian
revolutionaries. The next important site is in
suburban Medijana, where you’ll explore an
archeological site of a Roman estate. The visit
of remains of an ancient villa, a granary, villas,

DAY 16: BELGRADE – VOJVODINA – BELGRADE

tour of the Vojvodina province. During the
day, you will enjoy the peaceful ambience of
Orthodox monasteries and tranquil Baroque
villages. Visit of the enchanting 16th-century
Monastery of Krušedol on Fruška Gora
Mountain, a legacy of the last Serbian despot
family of Srem Branković. Then we will continue
to the small town of Sremski Karlovci, famous
for its numerous wine cellars. A stop for wine
tasting in a family run cellar, where the tradition
of wine-making stretches back through
generations. The next sight is Petrovaradin
Fortress in Novi Sad, located on the banks of the
Danube River. Its Clock Tower is one of the city’s
most famous sights, sometimes is also referred
to as the “Drunk Clock.” Free time to walk around
Novi Sad, an important trading center in the
18th and 19th centuries, as well as the heart
of Serbian culture, earning the nickname of
the “Athens of Serbia.” Return to Belgrade for
overnight.
DAY 17: BELGRADE – OSIJEK – ZAGREB
Breakfast. Depart from Belgrade towards Osijek.
The city tour starts with the old Baroque citadel
– Tvrđa. Local guide will revive the vivid history
of this area through visit to the monumental
buildings of the citadel, stories about battles,
fairs, unfortunate romances... We continue to
the city centre by walking through European
Avenue – one of the most beautiful art noveau
streets in this part of Europe. The central square
will reveal the modern Osijek and its curiosities;
afterwards we continue to the Promenade – a
long pedestrian zone by the Drava River. Free
time in this ideal location for a coffee break or
a cold drink on one of the numerous terraces.

“Serenissima” and “The Queen of the Adriatic”,
one of the most glorified and romantic cities
in the world and thus one of the most desired
destinations. Founded in the 5th century and
gradually spread over 118 islets, intersected
by canals, linked by some 400 bridges which
make an impression of a floating city, Venice
became the world’s most powerful maritime
force in the 10th century. The entire city is
an incredible architectural masterpiece; the
works of some of the world’s most prominent
artists like Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, etc.,
can be found even in its smallest buildings.
This romantic city is a labyrinth of waterways,
walkways, small squares and narrow streets.
Museums and public buildings offer a glimpse
of the rich Venetian history, architectural

walkways and shopping opportunities are
endless.
A pleasant boat ride of around twenty minutes
will take us to this magnificent city for a
sightseeing tour: St. Mark’s Square with its
famous Basilica – one of the finest examples

Bell Tower, the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge
of Sighs. After the visit you can enjoy your
free time in individual activities, have lunch,
and take an optional gondola ride. There will

Philip II founded Bitola. In Heraclea, there
we also be the chance to see thermae and
the theater, which served as an arena for
fighting. Another highlight is the Church of

DAY 12: KALAMBAKA – METEORA – KALAMBAKA
Breakfast. Visit of Meteora, one of the most
spectacular places in Greece. This rare
geological phenomenon is one of the
mysteries of nature and there are many
theories though none have been proved.
The only monastery visible from Kalambaka
is St. Stephen’s monastery that was founded
around 1400. Nowadays it’s a nunnery and
although less spectacular in comparison
to others, it’s very pleasant to visit and
experience warm welcome of nuns. The rest

DAY 13: KALAMBAKA – THERMOPYLEN – DELPHI
Breakfast. Departure to Thermopylen, the
location of the famous battle against Persians.
The meaning of the name „Thermopyles“ is
Hot Gates, from the hot water that comes out
of the mountain. We will make a short stop at
the Leonidas monument – where in 480 B. C.
the Spartan King Leonidas, with 300 Spartans,
fought against the Persian. In the afternoon,
arrival in Delphi that in the ancient times was
considered the center of the known world,
the place where heaven and Earth met. It is
the most famous for its Oracle: pilgrims would
come from all over the world to pay their
respects at the Temple of Apollo and seek
guidance from the Oracle. Among the other
sights we will visit Archaelogical Museum
approached via the Scared Way, the Temple
of Apollo as well as the Stadium and the
Castillian Fountain, where pilgrims cleansed
themselves in preparation for consulting the
Oracle. The rest of the day at leisure. Overnight

DAY 14: DELPHI – ATHENS
Breakfast. Departure to the Greek capital
Athens, one of the oldest cities in the world
of the wonderful culture that made this city
a center for the arts, learning and philosophy.
The visit includes major sights – Panathinaiko
Stadium where the first Olympic Games
took place in 1896. The National Gallery, the
Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, a monumental
gateway resembling a Roman triumphal, the
Prime Minister‘s residence, the Tomb of the

DAY 15: ATHENS
Breakfast. Continuation of the city tour with
a visit of the Acropolis of Athens and its
monuments, the universal symbols
of the classical civilization that form the
greatest architectural and artistic complex
of the Greek Antiquity in the world. Visit of
the the most important monuments: the
Parthenon, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea,
the monumental entrance to the Acropolis,
designed by Mnesicles and the small temple

DAY 1: VIENNA
Arrival at Vienna airport and transfer to hotel.
Optional evening walk in teh center of Vienna.

DAY 2: VIENNA
Breakfast. City tour of Vienna including State
Opera, Imperial Palace, Museums of Fine
Arts and Natural History, Parliament, the
Burg Theatre (National Theatre), City Hall, the
University, the Votive Church and the stock
exchange. We will also see the Prater with the
Riesenrad (giant Ferris Wheel), the beautiful
blue Danube, the City Park and famous Johann
Strauß monument, and the Karlsplatz with its
music society and Charles’s Church. From the
upper side of Belvedere Palace you can enjoy
a splendid view over the entire old city of
Vienna. We will walk through the Belvedere park
and we will conclude the tour with a visit to
Schönbrunn palace. Free time in the afternoon.

Breakfast and check out from hotel. A scenic
drive to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Upon
arrival guided city tour including the beauty
of Old Town, landmarks and strong historical
atmosphere. We will also visit the Bratislava
Castle and have the chance to enter one of the
most beautiful Cathedrals in Europe built in the
12th century. In the afternoon, we continue
to Budapest. Optional evening walk in the city
center. Overnight in Budapest.
DAY 4: BUDAPEST
Breakfast. City tour with local guide. We will
start discovering the beauties of Hungarian

the old Fortress, is one of the most beautiful
castles in Croatia. King Bela IV had it built in

DAY 6: ZAGREB – CASTLE TRAKOŠĆAN – ZAGREB
Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning, enjoy a
tour of Zagreb with local guide, including the
fortified Medieval Upper Town, St. Mark’s Church,
the Cathedral of St. Stephan, the Lotršćak Tower,
the Stone Gate, the University and the Croatian
National Theatre. After the tour some free time
exploring Zagreb on your own.
Afternoon excursion to Zagreb county, we
will jump into the Medieval times when
respectable gentlemen and nobles built
their manors and castles at carefully selected
locations in search of beauty and comfort. We
will visit the fairytale castle – Trakošćan, the
most beautiful castle in whole Croatia. Return
to Zagreb for overnight.

time for optional touring on the city walls with
their magnificent fortresses and towers, or
boat trip to the island of Lokrum. Overnight in
Dubrovnik.
DAY 12: DUBROVNIK – KOTOR – CETINJE –
DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Departure towards Cetinje. Short
stop to visit the spiritual and political seat of
the Montenegrin people, a treasure of cultural
representative buildings are the Monasteries of
Cetinje and Biljarda. Cetinje Monastery was built
in 1701 and even though the Turks destroyed
it several times, the people built it up again.
With a scenic drive, continuation towards Kotor
located in a secluded part of the Gulf of Kotor
and surrounded by fortifications built during
the Venetian period. Visit of UNESCO protected
site surrounded by fortifications built during the
Venetian period and the cathedral of St. Triphon.
After the visit, drive to Dubrovnik. Overnight in
Dubrovnik.
DAY 13: DUBROVNIK – ELAFITI – DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Departure for a cruise along Elafiti
islands in the front of Dubrovnik. We will cruise
along the islands visiting two out of three biggest
Elafiti inhabited islands – Koločep or Šipan and
Lopud. You will enjoy natural beauties as well
as historical places. In Lopud there will be an
opportunity for a swim or relaxing on beautiful
beaches. Return to Dubrovnik for overnight.

DAY 1: ZAGREB
Overnight in hotel.
DAY 2: ZAGREB – VARAŽDIN – ZAGREB
After breakfast at the hotel, sightseeing of
Zagreb which includes old town, historical
centre of the town with its St. Mark’s church
with famous colorful roof with Croatian coat
of arm Cathedral, Upper and Lower Town
and Croatian National Theatre. After visit
of Zagreb continue your drive to Varaždin.

Breakfast. Drive to Plitvice National Park and
visit the most beautiful park in Croatia. The
beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen
lakes, connected by series of waterfalls and
set in deep woodland populated deers, bears,
wolves and different bird species. Magnificent
lakes lower and upper, visited by lake boat and
small train. Lunch at local restaurant and drive
to Zadar for overnight.

this beautiful historical centre with old stone
bridge, Mosque and Turkish house. After lunch
at local restaurant, sightseeing of the place with
its different culture. Mixed orthodox, Muslim
and Catholic influence. Overnight in Mostar.
DAY 8: MOSTAR – SARAJEVO – MOSTAR
After breakfast drive towards Sarajevo. Upon
arrival panoramic sightseeing with local guide
of this strong Turkish influenced place, old
mosques, medresas (schools) and bazaars
(markets). We shall see “War tunnel – tunnel of
salvation” symbol of courage and survival of
people of Sarajevo during the war 1993. under
the Serbian siege. Lunch at local restaurant.
Return to Mostar for overnight.
DAY 9: MOSTAR – MEĐUGORJE – POČITELJ –
DUBROVNIK
Breakfast. Morning drive to Međugorje. Upon
your arrival to Međugorje the guide will take
us to the tour of shrine of Our Lady Queen of
Peace. The tour starts with introductory part
about shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace. The
program continues with visit to: Apparition hill –
place where everything started 24 of June 1981,
we will hear the story about first days of the
apparitions, and then you will climb Apparition
hill and spend some time at the apparition
site in a silent prayer. Blue cross – also a place
of many apparitions which is located at the
base of the Apparition hill. After the visit, drive
towards the Croatian coast with stop in small
village Počitelj, the unique place included in
the UNESCO World Heritage. After crossing the
border, late arrival to Dubrovnik for overnight.
DAY 10: DUBROVNIK
Dubrovnik.
DAY 11: DUBROVNIK – KOTOR – SVETI STEFAN –
TIRANA
drive towards the city in a secluded part of the
Gulf of Kotor and surrounded by fortifications
built during the Venetian period. Visit of UNESCO
protected site surrounded by fortifications built
during the Venetian period and the cathedral
of St. Triphon. Continuation towards Tirana. On
a way we make a short stop near Sveti Stefan,
fabulous village-island circled by the sea. Time
to have lunch at local restaurant, drive towards
Albania. Overnight in Tirana.
DAY 12: TIRANA – KRUJA – TIRANA
Ethem Bey’s Mosque and the monument of

Skënderbej city’s plaza has popular clock tower
and it is surrounded with famous landmarks of
Tirana, such as the National History Museum
and mosque of Ethem Bey and a lot of
buildings with designs of Turkish architecture
due to the fact that Tirana was ruled by the
Ottomans in the early 1800s. After lunch at local
restaurant drive to Kruja. The most important
sight in Kruja is the semi-ruined citadel area, a
fortress dating back to the fifth or sixth century
and old bazaar. Afternoon return to the hotel.

DAY 13: TIRANA – POGRADEC – SVETI NAUM –
OHRID
Breakfast. Drive towards the interior of Albania.
We will enjoy passing between the mountains
with small villages. Very beautiful scenery
skirting the lake Ohrid which is natural border
between Albania and Macedonia. A break in
Pogradec, Albanian place at the lake, after which
we continue towards the Republic of Macedonia
crossing the border and stoping by the lake, to
visit small monastery Saint Naum, which was
established in the year 905. We proceed towards
Ohrid situated on the lake shores, place strongly
influenced by Otomans, declared as a world
heritage site. Overnight in Ohrid.
DAY 14: OHRID
Breakfast. All day on the shores of Lake Ohrid. This
outstanding natural beauty is also UNESCO world
cultural heritage and the place where Saint Climent
and Saint Naum founded the first Slavic University
and famous literal school of Ohrid. Morning
tour includes the Old Town, the Church of Santa
Sofia (11th century), the most eminent Medieval
monument in Macedonia with magnificent
Byzantine frescoes and St. Clement Church.
Afternoon visit to monastery St. Naum, built on
the shores of Lake Ohrid, in the year 900 AD and
dedicated to the Slavic missionary and educator St.
Naum of Ohrid. Return to Ohrid for overnight.
DAY 15: OHRID – BITOLA – TIKVEŠ – SKOPJE
Breakfast. Continue towards Bitola, the second
biggest place in Macedonia. Many of the
landmarks in Bitola date from the Ottoman rule
of the city and you can certainly see the Turkish
influence in the mosques, old bazaar etc. Some
of the main sights of Bitola include Clocktower
the symbol of the town, Turkish market, open
air market, central square. We shall visit the
archeological site Heraclea Lyncestisan ancient
Macedonian town found by the Macedonian
King Phillip II in the middle of the 4th century
BC, but most of the remains that can be seen
in Heraclea Lyncestis are from the Roman and
the early Christian period. Drive towards Tikveš
through wine district recognized as the most
important wine growing region in Macedonia.

Wine tasting and lunch in one of the most
popular wine cellar. Drive towards Skopje for
overnight.
DAY 16: SKOPJE
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing of the capital of
Macedonia. Visit to the old Train station – first
train station on the Balkan, and in that time was
the most beautiful object on the Balkan; The
monument of Mother Teresa; The house of Mother
Teresa; The Stone Bridge – monumental building
in the center of the city, and the most imposing
monument in our country and on the Balkan,
built in the beginning of the VI century; Daut
Pašin Imam – monument of the Islam architecture
from the XV century; The church St. Spas, built
at the end of the XVII century, where are placed
the relics of the great Macedonian Revolutionary
Goce Delčev (1872-1903); The Fortress Kale – the
most outstanding tourist attraction of Skopje.
After the tour walk through the old city and
market place. Overnight in Skopje.
DAY 17: SKOPJE – MONASTERIO DE RILA – SOFIA
Breakfast. Drive from Macedonia towards
direction Bulgaria, visit of the Monastery of Saint
Ivan of Rila founded in the 10th century, The Rila
Monastery is regarded as one of Bulgaria’s most
important cultural, historical and architectural
monuments. It is on the World Heritage list and
is considered a symbol of the 19th Century
Bulgarian Renaissance which imparted Slavic
values upon Rila in trying to re-establish an
uninterrupted historic continuity. We shall visit
church and museum, with its rich collection of
old manuscripts, icons, jewelry, carved wooden
masterpieces, ethnographic expositions of
tissues and carpets. Lunch at local restaurant.
Afternoon stop at Sofia-capital of Bulgaria.
Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 18: SOFIA – PLOVDIV
Breakfast. Tour de Sofia the city of 7000 years of
history which has numerous monuments built
through different cultural and historical epochs.
Visit one of the largest Eastern Orthodox
cathedrals in the world, Alexander Nevsky, then
the Church of St. George, late Roman rotunda
dated from 4th century with its Medieval
frescoes dating from 12-14 centuries. Drive
towards Plovdiv, the second most important
place in the country across the heights of
mountain Rila. Overnight in Plovdiv.
DAY 19: PLOVDIV – KAZANLAK – VELIKO
TARNOVO
Breakfast. Plovdiv sightseeing of the second
largest city in Bulgaria, situated on the Maritsa
River. Its unique location in these ancient
crossroads has stimulated strong cultural and
political influences from Eastern and Western
civilizations, and yet maintained its unique
cultural identity. Being older than most of the
oldest towns like Rome, Athens, Carthage
or Constantinople, an almost contemporary
of Troy, its old part is called the Old Town,
with houses from the National Revival period
(18-19th century), and is imposing open-air
museum situated the three hills of the ancient
Trimontium. One of the most remarkable
sights of the town, the Ancient Theatre (a wellpreserved Roman theatre), is located there
and is still used for open-air performances.
Drive to Kazanlak. After lunch visit the valley
of the roses, which is the biggest producer of
rose oil in the world. The soil and the climate
in this region are quite suitable for the roses.
Visit of the Historical Museum of Kazanlak with
Treasury Hall, in which the newest golden,
silver and bronze findings from the Thracian
temple tombs in the region are exhibited.
Among them is the unique golden crown of
the Thracian tsar Sevt III (4th century BC) –
found in the town of Sevtopolis. Afternoon
drive to Veliko Tarnovo for overnight.
DAY 20: VELIKO – TARNOVO – ARBANASI – VELIKO
TARNOVO
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing of Veliko
Tarnovo, visit the castle of the old Bulgarian
capital – Tsarevets and the old city itself which
is a collection of traditional Renaissance houses
scattered over the hills around the river Yantra.
Afternoon visit to nearby village Arbanassi on
the hilltop 4 km away. It is also worth to visit
the impressive church of Virgin Mary entire
covered with frescoes. We shall visit also one of
the brightest examples of the authenticity and
magnificence of the Arbanassi houses is the
Konstantsaliev’s house, marvelous example of the
17. st. architecture. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
DAY 21: VELIKO TARNOVO – SOFIA
Breakfast. Drive towards Sofia. Day at leisure.
Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 22: SOFIA
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport of Sofia.

Rooming lists should reach Kompas at least 10
days prior beginning of the tour or programme.
All additional bookings are on request and
need to be reconfirmed.
Disabled persons
Any person who cannot travel independently
or who needs any form of assistance must be
accompanied by a companion who will be
able to assist this person.
Cancellation fees
• up to 30 days prior to departure 10% of the
price
• 29-22 days prior to departure 30 % of the
price
• 21-15 days prior to departure 40 % of the
price
• 14-8 days prior to departure 80 % of the price
• 7-0 days prior to and after departure 100 % of
the price
All cancellations must be in writing.
Refund claims
All refund claims must be submitted to Kompas
in writing within 15 days of the completion of
the tour or programme.
Kompas Liability
In all cases wherein Kompas Zagreb is rendering
services (i. e. providing vehicles or transportation,
meals, guides, tickets, etc.) it is acting solely as an
agent or intermediary for the owners or contractors.
Neither the Management of Kompas Zagreb, nor
that of any of its branch offices, shall be or become
liable or responsible in any way for any loss, injury,
damage, accident, delay or irregularity which may
be occasioned either by reason of defect, through
the acts or defaults of any company or person
engaged in covering out the arrangements of the
tour, or as a direct or indirect result of acts of God,
dangers, incident to the sea, fire, breakdown in
machinery or equipment, acts of governments or
other authorities de jure or de facto, wars, whether
declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes,
riots, thefts, epidemics, pilferage, quarantines,
medical or customs regulations or from any causes
beyond Kompas’ control, or from any loss or damage
resulting from improper passports, visas or other
documents.
Kompas cannot accept responsibility for loss or
additional expenses due to delay or changes in
schedule or other causes. The right is reserved to
decline to accept or retain any tour passenger should
such person’s health or general deportment impede
the operation of the tour to the detriment of other
passengers.
Furthermore, vouchers or tickets issued are subject
to all laws, conditions and regulations as imposed by
local authorities and governmental administration in
countries visited. Under no condition will any liability
en excess of that dictated by law be recognized.
