Workshop
Description
Writing Skills - Friday 8:30am - 10:00am
Location: Jefferson Conference Center 1D70
Presenter:
Al Halstead
USPTO Enterprise Training Division
Good writing doesn’t need to be difficult or stressful. In this workshop,
you will explore plain language principles and writing tips for being clear
and concise in all forms of written communication. Bring pen and paper.
While this is mostly a lecture, you will participate in one or two simple and
safe writing exercises. You will also walk away from this workshop with a
better understanding of why your readers do or do not respond as you
wish.
Conflict Management Part I & II - Friday
10:15am - 11:45pm & 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Location: Jefferson Conference Center 1D70
Presenter:
Tanya Hellams
USPTO Enterprise Training Division
Conflicts happen when two different individuals perceive some incompatibility
between themselves, which can lead to conflict. How a person reacts and deals
with that conflict will have a large impact on the outcome. In order to effectively
manage the conflict, we must first identify our role in the conflict and how we are
perceived by others. Conflict management is the process of limiting the negative
while increasing the positive aspects as we communicate our goals and objectives.
Communication is the key to resolving conflict management. You can have a
healthy conversation by having the ‘crucial conversation’ at the right time. The
goal of having a crucial conversation is to provide skills that will enable you to talk
to almost anyone about almost anything at work or at home and essentially eliminating the conflict.
Building Better Teams - Friday 2:45pm 4:15pm
Location: Jefferson Conference Center 1D70
Presenter:
Rosie Saberton
USPTO Enterprise Training Division
This course is designed for team leaders, members and contributors.
Teams are often used to tackle common work challenges. Through teams
we bring together experts and divergent ideas to focus on a specific outcome. This fast-paced session will give participants a basic review of
teamwork and its applicability to your work environment.
Introduction to Change Management - Friday
4:30pm - 6:00pm
Location: Jefferson Conference Center 1D70
Presenter:
Kristine Santa-Coloma Rohls
Vice President
Booz Allen Hamilton
Did you know the vast majority of change efforts fail? In this workshop
you will learn the basics of leading an effective change effort that produces results that endure and builds your leadership competencies. The
workshop is a high-level overview of the change management process
and philosophy of change.
