information design
information design is the practice of presenting information in
a way that fosters efficient and effective understanding of it.
information design can be used for broad audiences (such as
signs in airports) or specific audiences (such as personalized
telephone bills). the resulting work often seeks to improve a
user’s trust of a product (such as medicine packaging inserts,
operational instructions for industrial machinery and information
for emergencies).
information design has been applied to many fields such as:
literature, computer science, biology, art, etc.
any type of information can be visually organized.
data visualization
data visualization or data visualisation is the creation
and study of the visual representation of data, meaning
“information that has been abstracted in some schematic
form, including attributes or variables for the units
of information”.
diagrams
geometric figure, used to illustrate a mathematical
statement, proof, etc.
sketch, drawing, or plan that explains a thing by
outlining its parts and their relationships, workings, etc.
chart or graph explaining or
illustrating ideas, statistics, etc.
these is an example of a diagram (not an abituary) but its structure is beautiful

Develop a poster size (27.25 in x 17.25 in). Please feel free
to make it wider or longer if it fits with your idea, but do
not make it smaller. Pick from a list of designers that I will
give you in class and take photographs, experiment with
illustrations, etc. Please use a high-resolution camera.
The letterforms could be photographs, text, or illustrated.
Please use the copy that is given to you. The photographs
could be black and white, monotone, duotone, or full color.
Consider the images’ relationship to Typography as Image
with color or monotone composition. Consider the relationship of the layout, grid system and hierarchy.

also there is no limit to the amount of
information you will be using. i will be
meeting with you individually and i will
let you know if it is too much or too little.
if you can’t explain it simply, you
don’t understand it well enough
