The deployment of GR-303 technology has begun to accelerate at a rapid
pace, driven primarily by the Competitive Local Exchange Carrier market.
Service providers have discovered the economic benefits associated with
GR-303 interfaces on their Class 5 switches. The growing popularity of
GR-303 as a means to concentrate and deploy T1 circuits has created new
product developments focused on reducing the cost of those deployments.
GR-303 concentrators, which are deployed adjacent to Class 5 switches, offer
compelling options for network managers seeking cost-effective, manageable
devices to support their service offering requirements.
The Total Access 4303 (TA 4303) is a modular, full-featured platform that
can function as both a Digital Access Cross-Connect System (DCS) and a
GR-303 concentrator. TA 4303 can terminate up to 128 T1s (DSX-1 format)
with the flexibility to assign any T1 as input from the switch or as a concentrated output to the user. TA 4303 also provides connectivity for up to four
DS3 interfaces, providing additional flexibility for connection to the switch
or to the network. The unit offers full Digital Cross Connect functionality,
allowing the separation of non-concentrated data circuits from concentrated voice circuits for mixed-mode applications.
Offering full power redundancy, full controller redundancy, and NEBS
compliance, TA 4303 supplies the protection required by the competitive
provider. Supporting front-inserted cards and rear-panel connectivity, the
unit is suited for rack or wall mounting and easy access in the field. With
full alarm reporting, extensive test functions, and a complete set of management features, TA 4303 is well suited for a remote, non-manned POP.
By offering full SNMP management, an easy-to-use, menu-driven interface, and the capability to test and provision a downstream Total Access
850 integrated access device, TA 4303 is designed to minimize truck rolls
and service calls. Additionally, for numerous deployment options, TA 4303
can be coupled with Total Access 3000 for HDSL, HDSL2,and SDSL access
to unbundled nework elements.
