There are two safety locks, one on each side of the pushchair. –5– ATTACHING THE WHEELS FITTING THE BUMPER BAR Remove the caps in the ends of the armrests by pushing the button on the underside of the armrest upwards. With the button still pushed in, slide the cap out of the armrest. Repeat the process for the other armrest. Attaching the front wheels: Ensure the swivel wheel lock is in the down position. Slot the two front wheels onto the ends of the front legs. Push the wheel housing onto the end of the leg until it locks into position. Insert the two ends of the bumper bar into the holes in the ends of the armrests. Push the bumper bar in until the ends click into position. Always check that the wheels are correctly fitted by attempting to pull them from the frame. Attaching the rear wheels: Slot the rear wheels and brake assembly onto the back legs of the pushchair. Ensure that the brake peddles on the wheels are facing out from the back of the pushchair. Push the wheels down until they lock into position. The locking pins in the rear legs must protrude through the wheel housings. Check the wheels are correctly fitted by trying to pull them from the frame. The bumper bar can be set in two positions, the inner or the outer setting. To change the position of the bumper bar, push the buttons under the armrests upwards and slide the bumper bar in or out as required until the buttons lock into position. –6– –7– FITTING AND REMOVING THE BASKET Before fitting the basket you will need to remove the basket frame from the pushchair. Press the two buttons located on the inside of the basket frame at the rear of the pushchair, and slide out the frame. ADJUSTING THE BACKREST Lowering the backrest: Pull the backrest adjustment handle upwards and lower the backrest into the position you require. Re-attach the basket frame to the pushchair. Insert the ends of the basket frame into the plastic housing on the rear legs and push it in until it locks into place. Attach the two fabric loops at the front of the basket over the hooks under the seat. Removal is the reverse of fitting. Raising the backrest: Grip the middle of the backrest and lift upwards until it locks in the position you require. We recommend that you do not exceed a load of 3kgs in the basket. Excessive weight can destabilise or damage the basket. When folding the pushchair always check that the basket is not trapped or preventing the pushchair from locking. –8– –9– OPERATING THE ADJUSTABLE LEG REST The leg rest on the front of the pushchair can be adjusted for the comfort of your child and so that a compatible carrycot can be attached. OPERATING THE SWIVEL WHEELS The front wheels on the pushchair can be used in either the fixed or swivel mode. Note: The leg rest must be in the lowest position when the pushchair is being used by a child that can sit unaided and the backrest is in an upright position. Positions 1 & 2 are for general use. Position 3 is used when a compatible carrycot is attached to the pushchair, see pages 25-26 for more information. Position 3 is also selected when, using the pushchair as a pram, see pages 16-17. Fixed mode: Push the catches between the front wheels upwards. The wheels will now be fixed and will not swivel. Adjusting the leg rest: Pull the catches on both sides of the leg rest towards the front of the pushchair, then lift or lower the leg rest to the desired position. Release the catches to lock the leg rest in position. Swivel mode: Push the catches between the front wheels down. The wheels can now be rotated through 360º. – 10 – – 11 – OPERATING THE BRAKES ATTACHING THE HOOD Clip the hood brackets onto the frame. Engaging the brakes: Press down on both ends of the brake bar with your toes. Check the brakes are correctly engaged by rocking the pushchair backwards and forwards. Fasten the two press studs on the wings of the hood to the plastic studs on the inside faces of the armrests. Attach the two press studs on the back of the hood to the top of the backrest. Push the two tensioning bars down to lock the hood open. Releasing the brakes: Push upwards on both ends of the brake bar with your toes until the wheels move freely. REMOVING THE HOOD WARNING: Always engage the brakes when you leave or let go of the pushchair for any reason. Undo the four press studs and fold the tensioning bars upwards. Lever the side edges of the hood clips outwards and lift the hood from the pushchair. – 12 – – 13 – OPENING & REMOVING THE BUMPER BAR USING THE HARNESS TIDY You will find a tab on the adjustment yoke at the back of the harness where the shoulder straps join the waist strap. Place the tab on the adjustment yoke through the fabric loop in the middle of the backrest when not in use. Do not use the harness tidy whilst the harness is fitted to the child. Opening the bumper bar: As your child gets older, you may wish to open one side of the bumper bar in order to allow easier access to the pushchair seat. Locate the button on the underside of the armrest and push it upwards. With the button held in, pull one side of the bumper bar from the armrest to open. To close the bumper bar, depress the button and slot the end of the bumper bar back into the armrest. Check it is locked in position by attempting to pull it out again. IMPORTANT: The harness tidy is designed to only be used to prevent the harness from becoming tangled when not in use. Never secure your child into the safety harness whilst it is still held in the harness tidy on the rear backrest. USING AND ADJUSTING THE HARNESS Locking the harness: Remove the yoke from the harness tidy, see above. Lock the harness by pushing the tongues on the ends of the waist straps into the buckle on the crotch strap, 1. The harness will automatically lock when the tongues have been fully pushed in. Removing the bumper bar: The bumper bar can be completely removed for cleaning or when a compatible carrycot is attached to the pushchair. Locate the buttons on the underside of the armrests and push them upwards. Unlocking the harness: Squeeze the ends of the tongues together, 2 and then slide them out of the buckle, 3. Your child can now be removed from the pushchair. With the buttons held in, pull both ends of the bumper bar away from the armrests. Always fit the bumper bar when your child is in the seat. WARNING: Once the child is secured in the pushchair seat the bumper bar must be locked into the armrest. – 14 – IMPORTANT: Every time you place your child in the pushchair or when ever you alter the position of the backrest always check that the harness is correctly fitted and adjusted using the shoulder and waist strap buckles. Tighten the harness until it fits snugly around your child. – 15 – USING THE PUSHCHAIR AS A PRAM USING THE PUSHCHAIR AS A PRAM The pushchair can be converted into a pram for children from birth until the child can sit up by itself or until it reaches a weight of 9kgs. Remove the hood and apron if they are fitted. Raise the leg rest into its highest position, see page 10. Lower the backrest into the lowest position, see page 9. Lift the foot end of the pram upwards from the seats backrest. Slot the tab on the shoulder straps of the harness into the tab on the seats backrest, see page 15. Pull the bumper bar out to its fully extended position, see page 7. Fitting the hood: Attach the hood to the frame on the opposite side to the handles by pushing the hood brackets onto the frame until they lock in place. Unfasten the zip on the top of the backrest. Fold the cover down over the front of the bumper bar Fasten the studs on the back of the hood to the studs on the underside of the pushchair footrest. Push the tensioning bars on the sides of the hood down until they lock into place. Fold the flaps on the hood up between the inside of the hood and the armrests. Attaching the apron: Slot the apron over the backrest of the pushchair. Fasten the press studs on the sides of the apron to the studs on the sides of the pushchair. Zip the top of the backrest cover to the front of the footrest cover. Push the cover down onto the seat. Reverse this procedure to convert the pram back into a pushchair. – 16 – – 17 – USING THE CUP HOLDERS FOLDING THE PUSHCHAIR Note: The pushchair can be folded when you are using it as pram. Grip the handlebar and pull the catch on the primary frame lock upwards to disengage it. Opening the cup holders: The pushchair is fitted with two foldable cup holders. Lift the top ring upwards until it locks in the horizontal position. Pull the bottom support down until it locks in the horizontal position. Slide the button on the twist grip secondary lock sideways and hold whilst rotating it as far as it will go. Note: Do not apply downward force to the handlebars until the twist grip has been fully rotated. Apply downward pressure to the handlebars and the frame will automatically start to fold. Use the closing handle indicated in the diagram to assist you in folding the pushchair. Grip the closing handle and pull it up whilst applying downward pressure to the handlebars. Rotate the top section of the bottom support outwards until it locks in position. You can now place the drink in the cup holder. Closing the cup holders: Reverse the process for opening them. Closing handle When the pushchair is fully folded, ensure that the two locking catches on the handlebars lock over the clips on the rear legs. WARNING: Never place hot drinks in the cup holders. Never hang items on the cup holder. WARNING: When folding the pushchair take care not to hit the ends of the handle frame on the floor. – 18 – – 19 – OPENING THE PUSHCHAIR SPECIAL FEATURE Not all models of the A3 Pushchair are supplied with or use this special feature. If the harness is damaged, we recommend that a new one is fitted. For more information contact Customer Services. • Clean the plastic parts of the pushchair with a damp cloth, do not use abrasives or bleach. • Clean and lubricate the wheels, safety locks (where appropriate) and sliding parts using a light oil or silicon spray. Do not use heavy oil as this will attract dust and grit which tend to clog and damage moving parts. If in any doubt contact our Customer Services. • We strongly recommend that you have your pushchair serviced regularly, particularly after the first six months. To do this contact either your retailer or call Customer Services Helpline. Fabric care • All the Mamas & Papas pushchair fabrics are shower resistant. Should your pushchair become wet do not fold the hood or apron when you take the item inside. Always allow the fabrics to dry naturally away from strong heat sources such as fires, radiators and out of direct sunlight. • Whilst fabrics are carefully selected and tested, washing, wear and normal exposure to bright sunlight may cause their colour to change. • The exposed edges of fabric covers are often the first to wear and fray, remember this when storing or transporting your pushchair/carrycot and accessories. • Light soiling to the pushchair can be removed with a damp sponge and a mild detergent. • Washing instructions: Remove the fabrics following the procedure given in these instructions. Hand wash the fabric with a mild detergent at 30º, dry the fabric flat away from direct heat and do not tumble dry. Do not use abrasives or bleach to clean the fabric. • Should a fault arise with your pushchair please contact either your retailer or phone Customer Services.
