children) Based on the classic novel, Anne of Green Gables begins with Anne‟s arrive in Avonlea, (BRIGHT RIVER
STATION- ensemble) into the home of Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert. (ANNE‟S HISTORY- Anne). The town gossip,
Rachael Lynde, spreads rumors of the orphan girl, mistaking her for a boy (I PITY THE BOY –Rachael Lynde & ensemble)
(GOSSIP CHAIN – Rachael Lynde, Mrs. Blewitt, Ruby & Rosie Gillis, Old Woman & ensemble) . Diana Barry befriends
Anne and they declare to be kindred spirits. At a church picnic, (PICNIC – ensemble) Anne encounters the tall and teasing
Gilbert Blythe, who calls her “carrots” because of her red hair. Anne and Diana meet for tea and cordial (DIANA‟S
DRINKING SONG –Diana), but Anne accidentally mistakes he raspberry cordial for red current wine and Diana becomes
intoxicated. Rachael Lynde happens upon them and is furious with Anne. Although Anne is banned from contact with her
bosom friend, when Minnie May contracts a fever, Diana runs to Anne for help. Anne grows up and nearly drowns while
acting out the “lady in the lake” scene – saved by Gilbert but sill angry with him for calling her carrots. Anne goes away to
school and is a great achiever, returns home; Marilla‟s eyesight is fading and Matthew dies. (BEND IN THE ROAD – Grown

“Father Knows Best” is a fairytale revolving around a King and his two children. This king is father of an obedient son and
rebellious daughter. He needs to marry them to neighboring royalties and does so in the sneakiest way possible. The
righteous son, he sends on a mission to escort a beautiful princess to their castle, so the father can make her his queen;
however, during the voyage the son falls in love with his father‟s bride-to-be! Meanwhile, the snobbish daughter refuses to
marry all of the eligible suitors and the King threatens to marry her to the first man who walks through the castle gates – even
if he be a poor peasant. The son is in turmoil, the daughter is miserably married to a pauper, but in the grand finale, the king
turns the tables on everyone proving that „father knows best‟.
