ANGLICARE NO INTEREST LOANS (N.I.L’s)
The aim of these loans is to provide loans to people
on low incomes living in the Shoalhaven area. These
loans may be used for essential household items
e.g.: washing machines etc. or medical equipment.
Repayments are tailored to suit individual
circumstances.
Are you eligible for a N.I.L? Can you answer yes to
the following questions?
* Are you on a low income?
* Do you hold a Health Care Card?
* Have you lived in the Shoalhaven area for 6
months?
* Do you have the ability to repay the loan
over a 12 to 18 month period?
To find out if you are eligible for a N.I.L or for more
info: 44231018
Are you missing out on
CONTINENCE SUBSIDIES?
If you have permanent or severe incontinence, or
someone you care for does, you may be eligible for the
Australian Government’s Continence Aids Payment
Scheme (CAPS), which provides an annual subsidy of
up to $545.80 to help meet the cost of continence
products.
Many older Australians are unaware of the
Continence Foundation of Australia’s free
National Continence Helpline, which is staffed by
continence nurses who can help by providing advice,
resources and referrals to local services.
The Helpline staff can also help determine your eligibility for CAPS or any other subsidy. If your doctor
is unaware of the funding schemes available, they too
can phone the Helpline.
CAPS is paid on a pro-rata basis from the start of the
financial year. If you haven’t yet applied, do so as
soon as possible.
To discuss eligibility criteria, state-based subsidy
schemes, products or to locate a local continence service, phone the National Continence Helpline

A LIGHTER NOTE
ORBITUARY: COMMON SENSE
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common
Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for
sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost
in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having
cultivated such valuable lessons as :
 Knowing when to come in out of the rain
 Why the early bird catches the worm
 Life isn’t always fair
 And, maybe it was all my fault
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t
spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults,
not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well– intentioned
but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a
6-year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash
after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly
student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers
for doing their job that they themselves had failed to do in
disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get
parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student
became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became
businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their
victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could
sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live , after a woman
failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She
spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge
settlement.
Common Sense was preceeded in death:
 By his parents, Truth and Trust
 By his wife, Discretion
 By his daughter, Responsibility
 And by his son, Reason
He is survived by his five step-brothers:
 I know My Rights
 I Want It Now
 Someone Else Is To Blame
 I’m A Victim
 Pay Me For Doing Nothing
Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was
gone.

A woman has the last word in an argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new
argument!!!!

Presently I am trying to make friends outside
of Facebook while applying the same
principles. Therefore every day I go down
the street and tell the passer-by what I have
eaten, how I feel, what I have done the night
before and what I will do after. I give them
pictures of my wife, my daughter, my dog
and me gardening and spending time in my
pool. I also listen to their conversations and I
tell them I love them. And it really works: I
already have three persons following me.

ULLADULLA WOMEN’S SHED
The Ulladulla Women’s Shed was started in 2014 by
Jan McKay who had a vision of bringing women together to learn new skills, make friendships and to
provide a community based support group for women
in Ulladulla. As we live in a rural area we feel that
there is a great need for a support group for women
and so to keep the shed going they are hoping to raise
funds to rent a property or shed to run activities
from.
