WESTERN SHRINE ASSOCIATION EXPERIENCE
Wednesday, April 21st through Saturday, April 24th, 2010
Tempe Mission Palms Hotel
60 E. 5th Street
Tempe, Arizona 85281
January 18, 2010
Dear Members of Western Shrine Association,
The members of El Zaribah Shrine invite you to experience Southwestern Hospitality at the
beautiful Tempe Mission Palms Resort in the heart of Tempe, Arizona, for our annual convention
April 21st through April 24th, 2010. There are countless activities going on in Tempe and the area
at this time of year like the Salsa Festival at the River Front Park near our hotel. We think that
you will especially enjoy dining and shopping along Mill Avenue. In addition to the wonderful
shopping and dining, check out our great tour options in the welcome package that you will get
at the WSA registration desk, plus on our website www.el-zaribah.org/WSA2010/.
The average temperature for Tempe ranges from a low of 55° to a high of 85°. While it’s a “dry
Heat” evening outdoor activities might be on the cool side so pack a lightweight jacket or
sweater.
Your plans to attend should be made as early as possible and especially by the deadlines
established. The registration deadline is March 31, 2010. Planning is an integral part of any
program if we are to be successful and have a "good time". All necessary forms are enclosed in
this notice.
Plan on having your very own Hospitality Room for our Past Potentates to judge. Choose a
theme and go for it. They are really excited to see how creative you can be and delicious the
food will be.
We are looking forward to seeing each of you and we promise the best hospitality the Valley of
the Sun has to offer.
Fraternally Yours,
Ill. Sir Phil Houghton, President
Ill. Sir Russ Gunther, Director General

Process.
PR MEETING

Public Relations, the best kept secret at many of our Temples. Learn how to better prepare,
submit and follow through using PSA’s and other Media outlets. As many of the general public
think we are a group with many secrets, let’s work together through the power of the Media to
show that the big secret is Fun, Fellowship and the love we have to help our Shrine Children.

MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Thursday April 22
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Returning to our roots and what has made us one of the world’s best philanthropy. Working
with the Blue Lodges can pay many bonuses in our struggle to survive and grow. Our roots all
start from being a Mason and as the Blue lodge goes, so go our Shrine. Recruitment and
Retention are a very important part in growing our numbers, but just, if not more important is
once we get a new member we need to make sure they feel wanted, needed and included so
that retention is a much smaller part of Membership. For all of us that are actively involved in
our Fraternity, we know the feeling we get with that involvement. Pass it on!
