Öğrencilerimizden geri dönüt almak ve
Araştırma Değişimi yapmak isteyen
öğrencilere, gittikleri ülkelerde nelerle
karşılaşacaklarını aşağı yukarı göstermek
amacıyla 2015 yılının başında Küçük
Çalışma Grubu olarak hayata geçirilmiş,
İnanılmaz enerjik editör ekibi sayesinde 4
ay gibi kısa bir sürede sıfırdan yaratılmış
bir araştırma değişimi dergisidir.
SCOREview Turkey magazine preparations
were started as a Small Working Group in
TurkMSIC SCORE in the beginning of 2015.
Our main goal was to fill the need of
getting Evaluations from our Outgoing
Students, and try to show a preview of
different NMO’s exchange programmes to
future Outgoing students. With the
contribution of our energetic editor team,
we have managed to start and finish this
Research Exchange Magazine in only 4
months.

SCORE , IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’Associations) ve TurkMSIC’te
1991 yılında eş zamanlı olarak değişimlerin bilimsel zeminini güçlendirmek ve tıp öğrencilerini
öğrencilik yıllarında bilimle ve bilimsel araştırmala
rla tanıştırmak, araştırmalara katılımlarını sağlamak amacıyla kurulmuştur. SCORE yani
‘Araştırma Değişimi Çalışma Kolu’ olarak tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin, tıp hayatı boyunca belki de hiç
dahil olamayacakları bir araştırma programına, daha öğrenci iken katılmaları imkanını sunuyoruz.
Preklinik ve klinik alanlarında dünyanın dört bir yanındaki birçok kaliteli üniversitede araştırmalarınızı
yaparken aynı zamanda o ülkenin kültürel zenginliklerini tanıyacak ve unutulmaz bir 4 hafta
geçireceksiniz.
SCORE olarak amacımız;
*Tıp öğrencilerinin aldığı eğitimi bir bilimsel araştırma deneyimi ile zenginleştirmek ve onların bilimsel
araştırmanın temel prensiplerini öğrenmelerini sağlamak,
*Öğrencilerin; tıbbi araştırmalara, tıp eğitimine ve sağlık sistemine karşı mevcut farklı yaklaşımları
yerinde görüp tecrübe etmelerini sağlayarak ufuklarını genişletmek,
*Kültürlerarası iletişim ve küresel arkadaşlık ruhunu destekleyerek bir uluslararası tıp öğrencileri ağı
yaratmaktır.
'Bir Süreç Olarak SCORE' dönem başında düzenlediğimiz SCORE Kongre ile başlar. Öğrenci
SCORE Kongre'deki değişime gidip gelen insanların tecrübelerini dinledikçe, sorularını sordukça, yani
mini bir prova yaptıktan sonra her sene SCOPE ile ortak olarak düzenlediğimiz TurkMSIC Değişim
Sınavı'na katılır. Sınavda SCORE ile değişime gitme hakkı kazandıktan sonra süreç hızlanmaya ve daha
da heyecanlı bir hale gelmeye başlar. Artık değişime gidecek kişinin hayatındaki en harika
deneyimlerden birini yaşamadan önceki tek ihtiyacı biraz daha bilgilenmek ve değişime tüm soru
işaretlerini cevaplandırmış olarak gitmektir. Bu noktada sürecimiz PET ( Pre Exchange Training) ile
devam eder. PET, SCORE ile değişime gitme hakkı kazananlar için bir ön hazırlık niteliğindedir. Kişinin
hoca sunumları ile ve laboratuvarlarda aktif gözlemler yaparak akademik açıdan kendini dolu
hissetmesini, çeşitli aktivitelerle takım ruhunu güçlendirmesini ayrıca aklına takılan her şeyi değişime
daha önce gitmiş kişilere yüz yüze sorma imkanını sağlar. Artık SCORE ile değişime gitme yani;
- Bir ay boyunca dünyanın dört bir yanında en donanımlı laboratuvarlarda aktif olarak çalışma,
- Alanlarında başarılı işlere imza atmış olan hocalarla birlikte akademik olarak tecrübe kazanma,
- Dilini geliştirme,
- Binbir çeşit kültür tanıma ve kendi kültürünü tanıtma,
- Onlarca ülkeden onlarca insan tanıma ve harika dostluklar kazanma, harika anılar biriktirme zamanı.
Ayrıca SCORE ile sadece yurtdışı değil 'Yurtiçi Değişim' ile de bambaşka deneyimler
kazanabilirsiniz. 'Akademik Kalite' isimi küçük çalışma grubumuzun düzenlediği 'SCORE Bilim Günleri SCORE Research Days' ile kendi projelerinizi, sunumlarınızı hem İngilizce hem Türkçe anlatabilirsiniz.
'Neglected Tour' ile Türkiye'deki endemik hastalıklar hakkında yapılan ve primer olarak yurtdışından
ülkemizde değişim yapacak öğrenciler için düzenlenen programda önce laboratuvar çalışmalarına
sonra da saha çalışmalarına katılabilirsiniz. Eğer SCORE ile değişime gittiyseniz 'SCOREview Turkey'
adlı dergimizde siz de deneyimlerinizi değişime gitme planları yapan kişiler ile paylaşabilirsiniz.

SCORE , was established in IFMSA and TurkMSIC simultaneously in 1991 to
strengthen the scientific grounds of research and introduce medical students to science and scientific
research during their years of study, in addition to enabling them to participate in research. As
SCORE, Standing Committee on Research Exchange, we offer medical students the opportunity to be
included in a research program, which they may never get the opportunity to be included in during
their time in the field of medicine, while they are students. While doing research in qualified
universities from all over the world in clinical and preclinical fields, you will also get to know the
cultural riches of the country and spend an unforgettable 4 weeks.
As SCORE we aim to,
*Enrich the education medical students get with a research exchange experience and allow them to
learn the basic principles of scientific research
*Enable medical students to see and experience firsthand the currently available different
approaches to medical research, medical education and healthcare systems to broaden their
horizons
*Create an international web of medical students by supporting a sense of cross cultural
communication and global friendship.
‘SCORE as a process’ starts with SCORE Congress organized to be held at the beginning of the
first semester. After listening to the experiences of students who have participated in this research
program abroad and asking his/her questions, after a small rehearsal so to speak, the student
participates in the TurkMSIC Exchange Exam organized annually with our cooperation with SCOPE.
The process becomes more exciting and speeds up after the student earns the right to participate in
an exchange program with SCORE. The only thing the exchanger-to-be needs before setting off to live
one of the best experiences of his/her life is more information and all his/her questions to be
answered. From this point on, our process continues with PET (Pre Exchange Training). PET qualifies
as a preparatory phase for those who have earned the right to participate in an exchange program
with SCORE. It allows the student to feel academically full with presentations from teachers and
active observations in laboratories, to strengthen their sense of team spirit with various activities in
addition to offering an opportunity to ask his/her questions to previous exchange students in person.
Now it’s time to participate in an exchange program with SCORE or in other words it’s time to;
- Actively work in well-equipped laboratories from all around the world for a month
- Gain academic experience with professors who have done successful work in their fields
- Improve your language skills
- Get to know various cultures and introduce your culture
-Get to know dozens of people from dozens of countries and make good friends, collect amazing
memories.
You can gain different experiences with SCORE with ‘Domestic Research Exchange’ as well as
International Research Exchange. During ‘SCORE Research Days’ organized by one of our small
working groups- ‘Academic Quality Small Working Group’- , you can present your projects both in
English and Turkish. With Neglected Tour you can take part in lab work and field studies, primarily
organized for our foreign exchange students, on endemic diseases in Turkey. If you have participated
in an exchange program with SCORE, you can share your experiences with students planning on
becoming an exchange student in our magazine ‘SCOREview Turkey’.Wouldn’t you like to live these

SCORE Kongre 2014
Türk Tıp Öğrencileri Birliği’nin Bilimsel Araştırma Değişimi Çalışma kolunun en önemli
etkinliklerinden biri olan SCORE Kongre, TurkMSIC SCORE ile araştırma değişimine gidip araştırma
projelerine katılmış olan ve bunları çeşitli platformlarda tanıtmak isteyen öğrencilere fırsat yaratan,
aynı zamanda tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin bilimsel araştırmalar hakkında merak ettikleri noktalarda
bilgilenmelerini sağlamak amacıyla her yıl düzenlenen bir kongredir.
Özellikle SCORE gönüllülerinin bilgi birikimlerini ve deneyimlerini paylaşabileceği, SCORE PET
(Pre Exchange Training) girişimiyle birlikte, araştırma değişimine gitmeden önce ve gittikten
sonrasındaki süreçler de katılarak oluşturulan zincirin son halkası konumunda olan kongremiz, 27-29
Eylül 2014 tarihlerinde Marmaris’te 122 tıp fakültesi öğrencisiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. ( 8 kişilik
organizasyon komitesi ve 114 kongre katılımcısı) Bundan önce en fazla 14 farklı yerel birlikten
gönüllümüz kongreye katılım gösterirken, bu sene 27 yerel birlik olarak kongreye aktif katılım
sağlamış bulunmaktayız.
Kongre çerçevesinde 10 ülke sunumu ve atölyede de soru cevap şeklinde 6 farklı ülkeyi daha
kapsayacak şekilde toplamda 16 ülke hakkında katılımcılar bilgilendirildi. TurkMSIC Bilimsel Araştırma
Değişimi Ulusal Direktörü Orhun Çakır ve NORE Asistanlarımız Kayra Cangöz ve Zülâl Yılmaz’ın Bir
Süreç Olarak SCORE sunumu ve SCORE SWG(Küçük Çalışma Grupları) koordinatörleri tarafından
yapılan sunumlarla SCORE'yi bütünsel anlamda tanıtma fırsatı bulduk. Ayrıca TurkMSIC Staj Değişimi
Ulusal Direktörü Özgür Deniz Akıncı’nın da katılımı ve SCORE-SCOPE ortak sunumları(Japonya)
sayesinde yurt dışı değişimi ve önemini pekiştirmiş olduk.
Etkinliğin sosyal programında gerçekleşen National Food and Drink Party kapsamında 8 ülke
yöresel yemeği ile tanıtıldı.
2014 SCORE Kongre’nin Think Globally sloganıyla sizlere farklı yaklaşımlar kattığına inanıyor
ve ülkeler hakkında doğru bilinen yanlışlar panelimiz aracılığıyla kimi önyargıların değiştiği inancını
taşıyorum. Pre Exchange Training ile başlayan SCORE Bilimsel Araştırma serüvenimiz SCORE Kongre
ile bu yıl için tamamlanmış bulunmaktadır. Katılım gösteren tüm gönüllülerimize teşekkürlerimi
sunuyorum.

SCORE Congress 2014
Dear medical students,
SCORE Congress, being one of the most important events of Turkish Medical Students International
Committee’s Standing Committee on Research Exchange, is a congress being organized each year for
creating opportunities for medical students who participated in SCORE exchanges and wants to
present these exchanges on various platforms and for the medical students who wants to know more
about research exchanges and ask their questions about them.
Our congress which is the last ring on the chain of the research exchange process was organized in
Marmaris between the dates of 27-29 September 2014 with 122 (8 Organization Committee
Members and 114 congress participants) medical students. Our participants were from 27 different
LCs. This number was 14 for the last year’s congress.
Participants were informed about the exchanges in 16 different countries with 10 presentation and
question-answer sessions about 6 countries. The presentation of TurkMSIC National Director on
Research Exchange, Orhun Çakır, and his assistants Kayra Cangöz and Zülal Yılmaz about the topic
“SCORE as a Process” and the presentations of SCORE SWG coordinators gave us the opportunity to
know SCORE as a whole. Besides that with the attandance of TurkMSIC National Director on
Professional Exchange, Özgür Deniz Akıncı, and with the SCORE-SCOPE joint presentation about the
exchange in Japan, we learned more about the exchanges and their importance.
Traditional foods from 8 different countries were presented at the National Food and Drink Party of
the social program of the event.
I believe that 2014 SCORE Congress, with the slogan “Think Globally”, has helped many to gain new
perspectives and overcome the prejudice about some countries. Our SCORE Exchange adventure
started by Pre Exchange training has hereby come to it’s end for this year with SCORE Congress.

Tıp öğrencileri, tıp öğrencisi olana kadar kanıtladıkları birtakım özelliklerinden, okudukları
okulların itibarlarından ve ileride yapacakları mesleğin toplum içindeki yüksek sosyoekonomik
durumundan ötürü, dünyadaki insanların birçoğuna nazaran toplumda “üst” tabakada yer almaktadır.
Bizler bu farkı ev kiralarken “tıp öğrencisi” olmamızdan dolayı, normalde öğrenciye verilmeyen evleri
tutabilmemizden, otobüste yanımızda oturan ve ara sıra kötü bakışlar atan amca/teyzelerin
bölümümüzü sorduktan sonra dilinin bağının çözülmesi ve ailesinden bir tıp öğrencisi bulmaya
çalışmasından da az çok anlıyoruz.
Mesleğimiz gereği hastalarımız çoğu zaman, bizler kadar şanslı olamayan halk olacak.
Kitaplarda okuduğumuz semptom ve bulguları çoğu zaman kendimiz görüp enteresan ve nadir bir
tanı koymaya çalışırken aslında toplumun sosyoekonomik ve kültürel bir takım problemlerinden
kaynaklanan sorunlar olduğunu görüp kimimiz için üzüntülü kimimiz için de heyecan kaçırıcı
deneyimler yaşayacağız.
Bu deneyimlerin bazıları da dünya sağlık örgütünü tanımlarına göre uluslarası ihmal edilmiş
(tropik) hastalıklar olacak. Aslında biz bu hastalıkları derslerde “görmezsiniz”, “meslek hayatım
boyunca ben bile görmedim” adı altında duyduk. Çoğunluğunun ihmal edilme ve sınıflı toplum
yapısının var olmasından hatta asıl problem olarak temiz su ve besin kaynaklı olduğunu, hijyene
dayandığını biliyoruz. Peki biz sınav için aklımızda tuttuğumuz hastalıkları mecburi hizmette veya
tedavi ettiğimiz bir turistte hatta ve hatta ülkemizde salgın olarak görürsek ne yapacağız?
İşte bu noktada SCORE Neglected Toru KÇG sizlere yardımcı olmaya hazır. Ülkemizde ara ara
sıçramalar ve endemiler yapan Francisella Tularencis bakterisini ve yaptığı hastalık olan Tularemi’yi
saygıdeğer hocamız Prof.Dr. Şaban GÜRCAN rehberliğinde bu yaz çalışacağız. Tularemi, cumhuriyetin
ilk zamanlarında Trakya yarımadasında köylerde görülen “31 günlük ateş” adıyla bilinen, herhangi bir
tedavisi olmayan bir hastalıktı. Amerika’da mikrobik ajanın keşfinden önce insanlar evlere(?)
hastanelere bir ay boyunca inmeyen yüksek ateşle ve halsizlikle yatırılıyor, yüksek epidemisi
nedeniyle bir bölgede hayat durma noktasına geliyordu. Günümüzde tedavisi artık çok basit olsa da
insanlar “nasıl olsa görmeyecekleri” bu patojen yüzünden ağır LAP tabloları ve orofarengeal ve
ülseroglandüler patolojilerle hayatlarına düşmüş yaşam kalitesiyle devam etmekte. Özellikle
Karadeniz, Marmara ve Trakya bölgelerinde izlenen hastalık suyla, damlacıkla, mekanik vektörlerle
bulaşmakta ve hatta pnömonik ve lethal formu toprakla dahi bulaşmaktadır. Amacımız bu hastalığı
dünyanın her yerinden katılmak ve tanımak isteyen gönüllü araştırmacı arkadaşlara tanıtmak. Peki biz
bu hastalığı nasıl çalışacağız? Tularemi’yi, Trakya’yada dere ve nehirlerde, , su kenarındaki köylerde
ve kemirgenlerde arayacağız, kültürleri besiyerlerine ekip değerlendireceğiz.
NTeam olarak umuyoruz ki çalışmamız, insanlarda bu ihmal edilmiş hastalıkların aslında
bizim, kendimizi ve toplumumuzu ihmalimizden kaynaklandığının farkındalığını yaratacak ve ülkemize
oranla daha şanssız, WHO denetiminde “Neglected Tropical Diseases” çalışması yürütülen ülkelere,,
halkların doktorları olarak katılacak bilinci oluşturacak nitelikte bir çalışma olacak. NTeam ailesi olarak
hepinizi bu ihmallere dur demeye davet ediyoruz, doktorlara ihtiyaç kalmayacak bir gelecek
umuduyla…

Medical students, due to a set of traits they prove to possess until they become medical
students, the respectable reputation of their schools and the high socioeconomic positioning of their
future profession, remain on an “upper” class when compared to most people. We can pretty much
see the difference when we are able to rent a house that is not supposed to be rented out to
students because we are “medical students” or when the old lady/man sitting next to us on the bus,
occasionally giving the stink eye, starts to talk non-stop and tries to find a medical student in their
family after finding out what we are studying.
The nature of our profession dictates that most of the time our patients will be from a
portion of the public not as fortunate as we are. While we will try to associate the symptoms and the
findings we have read in books with our patients to come up with interesting and rare diagnoses,
some of us are going to be upset and some of us are going to have disappointing experiences after
the realization that most of the symptoms are caused by some socioeconomic and cultural problems
of society.
Some of these experiences are going to be with internationally neglected (tropic) diseases
according to World Health Organization (WHO)’s definition. Actually, we have heard about these
diseases under the topic “you are not going to see this” and “even I didn’t come across one during
my professional life”. We know that most of them are caused by negligence and the existence of
stratified social structure, and the real problem is clean water and nutrition based on hygienic
shortcomings. So what are we going to do when we come across these diseases, that we keep in
mind for the upcoming exam, while performing our obligatory civil service, treating a tourist or
maybe even when it becomes an epidemic in our country?
This is the point where SCORE Neglected Tour KÇG (small working group) is ready to help
you. We are going to study the bacteria Francisella Tularencis, which occasionally passes through our
country and causes endemics, and Tularemia, the disease it causes, under the guidance of our highly
esteemed professor Prof.Dr. Şaban GÜRCAN. During the earlier times of the Turkish Republic,
Tularemia was an untreatable disease which could be seen in villages of Thrace peninsula and was
called “ the 31 day long fever”. Before the discovery of the microbial agent behind the disease,
people would be committed to hospitals or would be left bedridden at their homes with a high fever
that couldn’t be reduced and lethargy, due to its high epidemic rate life would nearly stop in the
affected region. Even though the treatment is fairly easy nowadays, people continue to lead their
lives with decrease in quality due to severe LAP symptoms and oropharyngeal and
ulceroglandular pathologies. The disease, especially observed in the Black Sea, Marmara and Thrace
regions, can be transmitted through water, mechanical vectors, air and even through soil in the case
of the pneumonic and lethal form of Francisella Tularencis . Our goal is to present this disease to our
volunteer researcher friends from all over the world who would like to know about the disease and
join us. So, how are we going to study this disease? We are going to look for Tularemia in the rivers
and streams of Thrace, villages next to bodies of water and in rodents, to cultivate the cultures in
appropriate mediums for evaluation.
As the NTeam, we only hope that our work will raise the awareness that these neglected
diseases are actually caused by our ignorance towards ourselves and our society, and will be of such
quality that will build up a level of consciousness to create doctors which will participate in
“Neglected Tropical Diseases “ studies being led in less fortunate countries under the supervision of
WHO.As the NTeam family we invite you all to put a stop to this act of negligence, with the hope of a
future where there is no need for doctors…

Pre-Exchange Training (PET)
SCORE (Bilimsel Araştırma Değişimi Alt Komitesi), kurulduğu günden bugüne binlerce tıp
öğrencisine, öğrencilik yıllarında, pre-klinik ve klinik alanda dünyanın saygın üniversitelerinde ve
araştırma merkezlerinde yürütülen çalışmalara katılma fırsatı sunmaktadır. TurkMSIC (Türk Tıp
Öğrencileri Birliği) SCORE olarak, değişime gidecek öğrencilerin bu fırsatı en iyi şekilde
değerlendirmelerini sağlamak adına her sene ulusal olarak PET (Pre Exchange Training)’i
düzenlemekteyiz.
Her yıl ülkemizden yaklaşık 80 öğrenci Araştırma Değişimi programı ile 65 farklı ülkede
1500’den fazla çalışmaya katılma fırsatı kazanmaktadır. PET’ in amacı, bu öğrencilerin daha kaliteli ve
verimli bir araştırma süreci geçirmelerine katkıda bulunmaktır. Değişime gitmeden önce öğrencilerin
bilgi ve tecrübe eksikliklerini azaltmayı, motivasyon ve becerilerini arttırmayı, sahip oldukları
donanımları geliştirmeyi ve bu sayede öğrencilerin gidecekleri ülkeye ve araştırma sürecine
adaptasyonlarını kolaylaştırmayı hedeflemektedir. Her yıl artan katılımcı sayısı, sürekli gelişen ve
yenilenen bilimsel programıyla, aldığımız geri bildirimlerle yaptığımız değişimlerin kalitesini ve
profesyonelliğini önemli ölçüde arttırdığını gözlemlemekteyiz.
Her yıl Mayıs ayında bir hafta sonu gerçekleştirdiğimiz bu eğitimde; katılımcılara bilim
felsefesi ve etiği, bilimsel araştırmanın planlanması, laboratuvar becerileri, makale hazırlama,
kültürlerarası öğrenme, bilimsel üretkenlik, biyo-istatistik gibi konularda eğitimler bu alanlardaki
uzmanlar tarafından verilmektedir. Sunumlar, posterler, interaktif eğitimler, film gösterimlerini de
içeren tek düzelikten uzak programımız sayesinde katılımcıların ilgisini ve motivasyonunu sürekli canlı
tutmaktayız. Bu sayede bilimsel araştırma konusunda bir bilinç oluşturmakla kalmayıp bakış açılarını
geliştirip, potansiyellerinin farkına vardırarak araştırma sürecine tüm spektrumdan bakabilmelerini
sağlamaktayız.
Geçtiğimiz sene 10-11 Mayıs 2014 tarihlerinde olan 7. PET, Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Ev
Sahipliğinde Ankara’da düzenlendi. İlk gün Değerli Profesörlerimizin sunumları Ankara’nın en
beğenilen otellerinden City Hotel’de gerçekleştirildi. Sunumlardan sonra Kültür Değişimini en iyi
özetleyen filmlerden L'auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment) film gösterimi yapıldı. Günün
akşamında ise yine çok beğenilen bir Kebapçıda bir Türk klasiği olarak Kebap yenildikten sonra, Aynı
tarihlerde yine Ankara’da gerçekleştirilen ulusal TurkMSIC SCOME Tıpta Kariyer Günleri’nin
katılımcıları ile birlikte, toplam 250 kişi, Ankara’nın sevilen bir gece kulübünde MSIC Party düzenlendi.
İkinci günümüzde ise, Kültürler arası etkileşim ve TurkMSIC Eğitimleriyle başlayan gün, Liderlik
Oyunları ve Gazi Üniversitesi Fizyoloji Laboratuvarımızdaki Kurbağa Deneyleri ile sona erdi. 7. Pre
Exchange Training ile, ülkemizden Yurtdışına Araştırma değişimi ile gidecek öğrencilerimiz, çok geniş
kapsamlı bir eğitimden geçtikten sonra Başkent Ankara’dan, değişime gidecekleri zamana kadar
beklemek üzere evlerine doğru yol aldılar.
Bu sene ise, 25-26 Nisan 2015 tarihlerinde, 8. PET, Marmara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Ev
Sahipliğinde İstanbul’da gerçekleştirilecek. Bu sene de araştırma değişimine gidecek yaklaşık 80
öğrencimizi, İstanbul’da değişimlerine hazırlayacağız. Pre Exchange Training gibi kritik bir etkinliğin
her sene büyük bir başarıyla, büyük bir şehrimizde gerçekleştirilmesi adına emek veren herkese,
Özellikle de PET Koordinatörü ve 7. PET OC Başkanı Kayra Cangöz’e, ve 8. PET OC Başkanı Ece Aslan’a
çok teşekkür ederiz.

Pre-Exchange Training (PET)
SCORE (Standing Committee on Research Exchange), since the day of its foundation, has
been creating the opportunity of contributing to the research projects in both clinical and pre-clinical
fields of studies, carried out by the most respected universities and research centers for thousands of
medical students. As TurkMSIC (Turkish Medical Students International Committee) SCORE; each
year, we are organizing PET (Pre Exchange Training) on a national level in order to make our
exchange students use this opportunity as well as possible.
Each year 80 medical students from our country, gets the chance to participate more than
1500 studies in 65 country with Research Exchange. The main cause of PET is to help the students for
having a fruitful and quality research exchange. PET aims to decrease the lack of knowledge and
experience, increase the motivation and skills of the students, therefore ease the adaptation of the
students to the country and the process of the research. With the increasing number of the
participants, constantly improving and renewing scientific programs; we are observing that the
quality and the professionality of our exchange program has been significantly increasing according
to the feedback we received.
In this training, being organized at a weekend of May each year, participants are trained by
expert trainers in the topics such as; science phylosophy and ethics, scientific research planning,
laboratory skills, article writing, intercultural learning, scientific productivity and bio-statistics. We
are always keeping our participants’ motivation and interest high with presantations, interactive
trainings and our non-prosaic program which also involves film screening. With this we are not only
creating awareness about the concept of scientific research but also making our participants know
their potential and creating different perspectives for them.
The 7th PET was organized in Ankara, on 10-11 May 2014, by Gazi University Faculty of
Medicine as the host. On the first day in City Hotel, one of the best in Ankara, our professors made
their presentations. After the presentations; L'auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment), again
one of the best films about cultural exchanges, was screened. In the evening after a classical Turkish
dinner with kebap, with the participants of the national TurkMSIC SCOME Career Options in Medicine
Event,we attended the MSIC Party 250 people in total. We started the second day with the soft-skill
trainings and games about leadership. The day was finished with the experiments at the physiology
laboratory. With the 7th PET our participants were well trained and started to wait for their
exchanges as they were leaving the capital for their homes.
This year the 8th PET will be organized in İstanbul, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine as
the host, on 25-26 April 2015. We will prepare approximately 80 students for their exchanges. We
owe everyone who makes great effort to organize such critical event like PET, successfully, every
year, especially to the PET Coordinator and the Head of the Organization Committee for the 7 th Pet,
Kayra Cangöz and the Head of the Organization Committee for the 8th PET, Ece Aslan, great
gratitudes.

TurkMSIC 10-13 Nisan 2015 tarihleri arasında İstanbul’da gerçekleşecek olan 3. Professional
and Research Exchange Training’i gururla sunar!
PRET bölgedeki değişim programlarını geliştirme ana amacıyla farklı ülkelerden değişim
direktörleri için düzenlenen uluslararası bir toplantıdır. Katılımcılar çeşitli eğitimler alır, tecrübelerini
paylaşır, değişim direktörlerinin karşısına çıkan ortak problemleri çözer ve IFMSA, SCOPE/SCORE ile
ilgili kilit noktaları öğrenir ve detaylı bilgiyi alırlar. Değişimler içindeki yeni zorlukları kucaklamak için
gerekli motivasyonu alacak ve sonunda IFMSA ruhunu hissedeceksiniz! Ev sahibi üniversitemiz,
Yeditepe Üniversitesi 1996 yılında İstanbul Eğitim ve Kültür Vakfı tarafından kuruldu.
Peki ya PRET’in bir parçası olmanın sonuçları? Ana amaçlarımız; tecrübe ve projelerimizi
paylaşmak, problem çözme teknikleri üstüne beyin fırtınası yapmak, çeşitli konularda eğitimler

Professional and Research Exchange Training Istanbul 2015
TurkMSIC is proud to present its 3rd Professional and Research Exchange Training, taking
place in Istanbul, Turkey from April 10th to April 13th 2015!
A Professional and Research Exchange Training-PRET-, is an international meeting organized
for the exchange officers of different countries with the main objective of improving the exchanges in
the region. The officers will receive training, share experiences, solve common problems faced by the
exchange officers and obtain extensive information and key points about IFMSA
and SCOPE/SCORE. They will gain motivation to embrace new challenges within exchanges! In the
end, they'll be able to feel the IFMSA love and spirit. Our hosting university, Yeditepe University was
founded in 1996 by the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (ISTEK).
What about the outcomes of being a part of PRET? The main goals will be sharing
experiences and projects; brainstorming on problem solving techniques, delivering trainings on
various topics, working together to find solutions to problems that we might encounter during the
exchanges and make every participant feel part of the exchange team and IFMSA. Soft skill trainings,
special sessions on exchanges, small working groups will focus on the empowerment of IFMSA
SCOPE/SCORE Exchanges in our Region. All trainings will be provided for the participants by highly
IFMSA-trained international trainers and experienced students on IFMSA SCOPE/SCORE Exchanges.
You simply can’t miss this unique opportunity if you work on IFMSA Exchanges on a local or national
level. Some of the trainings that will be held are: Time Management, Team Building, Conflict

Ulusal Turlar
Değişimin bir tıp öğrencisine kattığı akademik vizyonun yanı sıra, şüphesiz en güzel
yanlarından biri de gezip görmek, her şeyden önce o ülkeyi yaşamak, insanına tanıklık etmek ve
bunların dünyanın bütün topraklarından aynı hisleri paylaşan yepyeni arkadaşlarla yapmaktır. İşte
tam bu nokta da “Ulusal Turlar” değişim programımızı zenginleştirmek için devreye girer.
Ulusal Turlar Küçük Çalışma Grubu olarak biz, her sene yaz aylarında, dünyanın her yerinden,
ülkemizin dört bir yanındaki tıp fakültelerine staj ve araştırma değişimi için gelen öğrencilerin
birbirleri ile tanışıp her dakikasında doyasıya eğleneceği, ülkemizin eşsiz güzelliklerini görüp âşık
olacağı, bu toprakların sonsuz tarihine tanıklık edip kültürümüzü tecrübe edeceği, kısacası hayatının
en güzel günlerini geçirip bir daha asla unutamayacağı birbirinden şahane “Ulusal Turlar”
düzenliyoruz. Üstelik bu sene ilk defa, sayıları az da olsa kış aylarında gelen misafirlerimizi de
unutmayıp, onların da ülkemizin güzelliklerini görmesi için keyifli turlar düzenledik. Yeterli sayıya
ulaşamadığımızda bile değişim öğrencilerinin gezmek görmek istediği şehirlerdeki değişim
direktörlerinden yardım isteyerek, onlara güzel bir misafirperverlik örneği sunduk. Turlarımızı
seçerken ve içeriğini belirlerken, değişim öğrencilerini ülkemize ilk defa gelen, çok fazla zamanı
olmayan ve öğrenci bütçesi ile en güzel yerleri gezip çok eğlenmek, çok öğrenmek isteyen bir turist
gibi düşünüyoruz. Hiçbir kar gözetmeksizin, en düşük ücretle en dolu ve uygulanabilir tur
programlarını yaratmaya çalışıyoruz. Katılımcılarımızın kaynaşmaları, uyum içinde güzel vakit
geçirmeleri ise en çok önem verdiğimiz nokta. Öyle ki, tur boyunca çok sağlam dostluklar kuruluyor
ve değişim öğrencileri, tur sonrası tekrar görüşebilmek için birbirlerinin staj yaptıkları şehirlere gidip
toplu etkinliklerde bulunuyorlar. Belki de bundan yıllar sonra onlarca ülkede bulabilecekleri dostlar
kazanıyorlar. Tabi bizleri de ülkelerine davet ediyorlar.
Kısacası hem değişim öğrencileri çok eğleniyor hem de bizler bu dostluk ortamının yarattığı
neşeyle güzel vakit geçiriyor ve en önemlisi bu ortamdan daha güzel işler yapmak için cesaret ve
destek alıyoruz. Dileriz bundan sonra da en eğlence ve keyif yüklü turlar, dünyanın en güzel doğasına
sahip topraklardan biri olan ülkemizde olur ve değişim öğrencileri ülkelerine döndüklerinde onları
gülümsetecek en güzel anıları yine biz kazandırabiliriz. Ne demişler; Çok gezen, çok bilir. 

National Tours
In addition to the academic perspective the exchange process enriches the medical student
with, without a doubt one of the best parts of this process is touring and sightseeing, feeling that
country in your bones before everything, witnessing it’s people and doing all this with brand new
friends, whom you share the same feelings with, from around the globe. This is where “National
Tours” come in to enrich our exchange program.
As the National Tours Small Working Group, we arrange national tours for students from all
around the world participating in professional and research exchange programs in faculties of
medicine across the country during summer months, which will allow them to meet each other –
while enjoying every minute to the fullest-, fall in love with our country’s beautiful yet unique sights,
witness our history and experience our culture. To sum up, we organize spectacular “National Tours”
during which exchange students live the best days of their lives which they won’t be able to ever
forget. Moreover, we didn’t disregard our guests during the winter months and organized enjoyable
tours- so that they could see the beautiful sights in our country- this year for the first time, despite
the small number of students. Even when we couldn’t reach the required number of students, we
showed a great example of hospitality when we got in touch with our local exchange officers of cities
which our exchange students wanted to visit. During the process of picking out tours and
determining their contents, we think of exchange students as tourists visiting our country for the first
time who want to see the best places and have lots of fun, learn lots of things with a student’s
budget, even though they don’t have much time. Without seeking profit, we try to create the fullest
and most applicable programs, with the lowest possible prices, for our tours. We only wish that our
participants bond and have a great time in harmony. We have witnessed that during the course of
these tours, strong friendships start and lead to friends visiting each other during their exchange and
organizing events after the tour. They gain friends which they may find years later in dozens of
countries. They invite us to their countries as well.
In short, while exchange students have a lot of fun, we enjoy ourselves with the joy this friendly
atmosphere provides, and most importantly we are filled with courage and feel support to do better
work. We wish that the most fun and enjoyable of tours take place in our country which withholds
the greatest natural beauties and we, as the National Tours team, continue to provide the memories
to make exchange students smile when they go back to their countries. After all, the one who travels
a lot knows a lot. 

March Meeting 2015 Turkey
Geçtiğimiz günlerde Türkiye'de dünyanın en büyük öğrenci organizasyonlarından birini, tıp
öğrenci organizasyonu olarak ise en büyüğünü, IFMSA 64. Genel Kurulu Mart Toplantısını
yani MM2015 Turkey'i ev sahipliğimizde gerçekleştirdik. Toplamda 1,5 yıla yayılan bu sürecin
sonunda 97 ülkeden 950 kişinin katılımıyla IFMSA'in en yüksek katılımlı toplantısını gerçekleştirdik.
2-8 Mart 2015 Tarihleri arasında Antalya Limak Deluxe Hotel’de gerçekleşen MM2015 Turkey,
geri dönütler de göz önüne alındığı zaman şüphe götürmez şekilde IFMSA tarihinin en güzel
toplantılarından biri olarak tarihe geçmiştir. 26 Şubat-2 Mart tarihlerinde İstanbul’da gerçekleşen
Pre-GA Workshopları ile başlayan büyük etkinliğimiz, Ege/Kapadokya Post-GA turları ile 12 Mart 2015
tarihinde sona erdi.
Ayrılmış oturumlarımızda ise elbette SCORE oturumlarımız büyük bir neşe içerisinde
gerçekleşti. İlk gün SCORE IT ve NORE’ler ile tanışıp kaynaşmanın ardından ‘’SCORE’yi ne kadar iyi
tanıyorsunuz oyunu’’ oynandı. Daha sonrasında ise, SCORE Eğitimlerine geçildi. Katılımcılar, birçok
konu arasından beğendikleri eğitime kaydolarak o konu hakkında kendilerini bir adım öteri götürme
fırsatı yakaladılar.
İkinci günümüzde, yeni database’imiz tanıtılırken, Ideas Cafe ile beyin fırtınalarına yelken
açıldı. Sonrasında ikinci SCORE Eğitimleri verildi.
Üçüncü günümüzde, SCORE SB adayları sunumlarını gerçekleştirdi. Bunun yanında ülkemizde
gerçekleşecek Istanbul PRET dahil olmak üzere, tüm ülkelerin PRET çalışmaları tanıtıldı. Ardından
March Meeting’in değişim adına en heyecanlı bölümlerden birine yani Exchange Fair’e geçildi ve 2.30
saat boyunca tüm aktif ülkeler, değişim adına ellerinde ne varsa ortaya döktü ve birbirlerine
değişimlerini anlatmaya çalıştı, elbette tam bir karnaval havasında.
Dördüncü günümüzde, SCORE düzenleme değişimi oylamaları ve SB üyelerinin adaylık
oylamaları gerçekleştirildi. Sonrasında SWG’ler için SCOREanlar ayrıldı ve 7 farklı konu üzerinde
herkes bilgi paylaşımında bulundu. Ardından Birleşik Oturumlarda Değişim Programlarımızın
Tanınabilirliği tartışıldı.
Beşinci ve son günümüzde, SCOPH ile ortak bir oturumdan sonra, yine SWG’ler oluşturuldu ve
sonrasında bu SWG’lerin sunumları yapılarak çalışmalardan herkesin haberdar olması sağlandı. Ve
üzücü dakikalar buradan sonra başladı. İspanya’dan gelen, dilim
izi mavi boyayan tuzlu şekerleri tükettikten sonra, bol bol ‘’dil göstermeli’’ fotoğraf çekindik.
Ayrılmamız için yaklaşık 500 grup fotoğrafı, 600 selfie ve yaklaşık 1.30 saat gerekti. Elbette
görüşeceğiz, bir sonraki etkinlikte.

March Meeting 2015 Turkey
Recently; we held one of the biggest student organizations, the biggest among the medical
students’ organizations, IFMSA 64. General Assembly March Meeting, MM2015 in Turkey. After one
and a half year of preparation process we managed to organize the most attented event of IFMSA
with 950 participants from 97 countries.
MM2015 Turkey which was held in Antalya Limak Deluxe Hotel between the dates 2-8 March
2015, made history as one of the best organizations of IFMSA ever, considering the feedbacks. Our
huge event started with the Pre-GA Workshops in İstanbul between the dates 26 February- 2 March
2015 and ended with the Post-Ga Aegean/Cappadocia trips on the 12 March 2015.
SCORE Session of course was really funny and instructive. On the first day, after meeting with
SCORE ITs and NOREs, we played the game “How Well Do You Know SCORE?”. Then the participants
attented trainings which they chose from a rich list of topics and had the chance to take a step
further in these fields.
On the second day, while our new database was beeing presented, participants had a
brainstorm session with Ideas Cafe. Then SCORE Trainings were conducted.
On the third day, SCORE SB candidates made their presentations. Beside these PRET
organizations from all over the world, including Istanbul PRET, were presented. After that, we’ve
witnessed the most exciting part of MM from an exchage focused point of view, Exchange Fair; for
two and a half hour all active NMOs presented all they have for exchanges in an atmosphere of a
carnival.
On our fourth day, SCORE regulation changes and SB member candidates were voted. After
that SCOREans were seperated for SWGs and shared their knowledge about 7 different subjects.
Later we debated about the recognition of our exchange programs in the joint session.
On our fifth and last day; after a joint session with SCOPH, we created SWGs and made
presentations about these before the beginning of the sad moments. After consuming the salty
candies which dyed our tongues blue, we took a lot of pictures with “tongues out” theme. 500 group
pictures, 600 selfies and approximately one and a half hour was required for our departure. We’ll see
each other of course. Until the next event;

Vize hiç problem değil. Türkiye’den direkt Köln’e uçakla ulaştım.

Köln büyükçe bir şehir, büyük bir üniversitesinin olmasının yanı sıra çok da turistik. Hiç sıkılmazsınız
hele ki Türk dönercileriyle. Temmuz ayında hala tıp fakültesi devam ettiği için de birçok öğrenci hali
hazırda şehirdeydi. Gezecek yerlerden katedrali, katedralin yanındaki müzeleri, fragrance müzesini,

I worked in Prof.Dr.Gabriele Pfitzers laboratory in the department of “Vegetative Physiology” of Köln
Faculty of Medicine. The lab offered different study topics and I was there to learn the functioning
principles of the Calmodulin protein. My tutor Frau Schroeter personally worked with me every day,
she not only taught me but also created opportunities for me to participate and actually do
something.
P.s. I was placed in another research group at first but as July was creeping closer they changed my
topic. Such scenarios are possible.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
Visa is not a problem at all. I flew directly from Turkey to Köln.
City and Country
Köln is a big city and besides having a big university it is quite touristic as well. You can never get
bored, the Turkish döner places alone are enough to keep you entertained. As lessons go on in the
Faculty of Medicine during July, most students are already in the city. As for places to see; the
cathedral, the museums next to the cathedral, the fragrance museum, kölner lichter( the fireworks
demonstration), zulpicher strasse, the ringe are among places that are left in my mind.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Hastanenin bitişiğindeki bir yurtta kalıyor tüm değişim öğrencileri. Yurtlar tek kişilik odalardan
oluşuyor. Odalarda duş ve lavabo var ama tuvalet ve mutfak ortak kullanım alanları. Bazılarının
odalarında problem vardı ama benimki sadece kirliydi, o da hallolabilecek bir şey. Herkesin CP’si farklı
farklı insanlardı. Benimkisi ise çok iyiydi, arabasıyla havaalanından alıp yurda getirmiş ve sınavları
olmasına rağmen birkaç etkinliğe katılmıştı. Sosyal Program ise yetersiz kaldı. Dünya Kupası ve
dönem sonu finallerinin çakışmasından olduğunu tahmin ediyorum. Yakındaki Bonn’a düzenlenen
gezi dışında bir şey yapmadılar. Ama Exchange grubu kalabalık olduğu ve şehrin ulaşım imkanı bol
olduğu için siz bir şeyler düzenleyebilirsiniz.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Exchange olarak çok keyifli vakit geçirdim. Anılardan ziyade keşke yapsaydım dediğim şey Rhine
nehrinde boat tour yapamamış olmak. Onun dışında her şeye zaman bulursunuz eminim ki.
Önerileriniz
Sosyal programı eksik olduğu için gitmeden ne yapmak istediğinizin listesini oluşturun. Ya da
ağustosta giderseniz belki daha çok program yapılabilir. Yurtta internet olmadığı için hastaneninkini
kullanıyorduk; tablet veya laptop mutlaka getirin. Şemsiyeniz eksik olmasın hava bir öyle bir böyle
ama
son
günler
Antalya
tadındaydı.
Geceler
ise
bir
o
kadar
soğuktu.
Pocket Money verdikleri için kendiniz de odanızda bir şeyler hazırlayabilirsiniz, ayrıca öğlen kantinde
güzel yemekler çıkıyor. Bunun için karta ihtiyacınız var geri ödemeli olarak kantindeki sadece Almanca
konuşan (!) görevliden temin edebilirsiniz.
Bisiklet kiralamanıza pek gerek yok çünkü hep tramvaya biniyorduk biz.
Alışveriş için adresiniz: Primark.
Benim çalışmam bazen 4’te bitiyordu ama gelmemek istediğimde önceden söylediğim zaman hiç geri
çevirmediler. Geç kalmak konusunda ise biraz takıntılılar.
Yurt odanızın anahtarını sakın kaybetmeyin. Bizden biri ka
ybetti ve çok sıkıntı çekti. Teleferiğe binin ve mutlaka çikolata müzesine gidip bedava çikolata yiyin.

Stay and Social Programme
All exchange students are accommodated at a dorm next to the hospital. The dormitory is made up
of single person rooms. The rooms have showers and sinks but the toilets and the kitchen are
common areas. Some people’s rooms were problematic but the only thing wrong with mine was that
it was dirty, and it is something that could easily be taken care of. Everyone had a different CP. Mine
was really good, he picked me up from the airport with his car and attended a few events even
though he had exams. The social program was insufficient. I assume it was due to the fact that The
World Cup and the end of term finals were roughly around the same time. They didn’t arrange
anything besides the trip to Bonn, which was nearby. However as the exchange group is big and the
city offers vast transportation opportunities, you can arrange something on your own.
Highlights and Memories
As far as my exchange is concerned, I had a great time. The memories aside, I wish I hadn’t done a
boat tour of the Rhine. I am sure that you can find the time to do anything besides that.
Advices
As the social program is quite insufficient, before you go make a list of everything that you would like
to do. Or maybe there are more programs during August.
Since there was no internet connection at the dorm we had to use the one in the hospital, most
definitely bring a tablet or a laptop.
An umbrella is a must-have, the weather is quite erratic but it was like the weather in Antalya during
my final days.
The nights were as cold as the days were warm.
As they give you some pocket money you can prepare something on your own in your room, but the
lunch food in the cafeteria is good as well. You need a card for this; you can obtain this refundable
card from the staff member that only speaks German (!) in the canteen.
You don’t need to rent a bike; we used to ride the tram all the time.
Your address for shopping: Primark.
My work in the lab would sometimes be done at 4 but they never turned me down when I notified
them earlier on that I didn’t want to come. They are quite obsessed with tardiness however.
Don’t ever lose your room key. Someone from our group lost it and went through a lot of trouble.
Get on the cable car, definitely visit the chocolate museum and eat free chocolate.

Araştırma Projesi
Projem “Pao Brazil” adındaki bir bitkinin özütünün çeşitli bakteri türleri üzerindeki antibiyotik etkisini
araştırmaya yönelikti. Tutor’ımla, departmandaki diğer hocalarla ve okul çapındaki birçok
akademisyenle iletişimim çok iyiydi çünkü Brezilyalılar gerçekten çok sıcakkanlı insanlar. Çalıştığım
proje başarıyla sonuçlanabilecek bir projeydi ancak daha sonra pr
ojenin asıl sahibi olan doktora öğrencisinin sayılarda oynama yaptığını ve araştırmanın
yayınlanmadan iptal edildiğini öğrendim.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Brezilya ile Türkiye arasında 90 güne kadar vize yok. Bu sebepten vize almama gerek kalmadı. Önce
Ankara-İstanbul, İstanbul-Sao Paulo uçuşları ile Sao Paulo Guarulhos Havalimanı’na geldim. CP’m ve
evinde kaldığım arkadaşı beni havalimanından araba ile aldılar ve Taubaté’ye gittik. Havalimanı ve
Taubaté arası yaklaşık olarak 1,5 saatti.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Gittiğim şehir 200.000 nüfuslu küçük bir şehirdi, bu sebepten ilk haftalarda laboratuarda çalıştım ve
kendi şehrimle beraber çevre şehirleri gezdim. Bulunduğum şehir ve çevre şehirler Sao Paulo’nun
etkisinde kalmış ve gelişmemiş şehirler olduğundan görmeye değer pek bir yer yoktu. Laboratuardaki
tüm sorumluluklarımı tamamladıktan sonra farklı eyaletlere ve daha uzak şehirlere gitme fırsatı
buldum. Ülkenin geri kalanı çok güzeldi. 3 eyalette 9 farklı şehre gittim ve çok eğlendim. Brezilya
dünyanın en sıcakkanlı ve yardımsever insanlarının vatanı benim için.

Research Project
My Project was about the effects of the extract of a plant named “Pao Brasil” on various species of
bacteria. Because Brazilians are very friendly, I had good relations both with my tutor and the other
academicians in the university that I met during my stay. The project that I was working on was a
promising one however after coming back to Turkey I heard that it was cancelled due to a problem
with the recording of the numbers and outcomes.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
There is no need for visa between Turkey and Brazil up to 90 days of stay, so I did not apply for it.
Arriving to Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport after my flights between Ankara-İstanbul and İstanbul-Sao
Paulo, my contact person and her friend who I stayed with during my Exchange came to the airport
to take me to Taubaté. It was approximately 1,5 hours to get to Taubaté from the airport
City and Country
Taubaté, the city where my exchange took place, has a population of nearly 200,000 people. So in
the first 2 weeks I spent my time working in the laboratory and visiting the cities nearby. There was
nothing much to see in Taubaté and the cities around it because they were mostly under the
influence of Sao Paulo being near it therefore they were not very well developed.
After finishing all the tasks I was given in the laboratory, I had the chance to go to different states
and cities. The rest of the country was beautiful, I visited 9 cities in 3 different states and had a lot of
fun. In my opinion, Brazil is the land of the most friendly and helpful people in the world.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
CP’min yakın bir arkadaşının evinde kaldım. Burası onların “Republika” dediği bir öğrenci eviydi, evde
6 tıp öğrencisiyle beraber kaldım. CP’min arkadaşı olan çocuğun odasında yere bir şilte atılmıştı,
orada yattım  CP’mi pek göremedim ilk birkaç günden sonra, ama evinde kaldığım insanlar tam
anlamıyla muhteşemdi. Beraber çok eğlenceli vakit geçirdik. Beni partilere götürdüler. Bunun dışında
spesifik bir sosyal program ya da national tour yoktu. Dediğim gibi kendi başıma başta Rio de Janeiro,
Belo Horizonte ve Sao Paulo olmak üzere 9 şehir gezdim. Buralarda genelde hostellerde ve eski
arkadaşlarımın evinde kaldım. Hayatımdaki ilk hostel deneyimimi çok özel kılan insalarla Rio de
Janeiro’da tanıştım: bir İsviçreli, iki Alman ve bir Polonyalı. Hostellerde çalışan insanların sıcak
tavrından bahsetmiyorum bile. Hepsi bana dünyanın neresinde olursa olsun gezmenin ne kadar
heyecan verici ve bazı deneyimlerin ne kadar nefes kesici olabileceğini gösterdi, hepsine minnettarım.
Çok farklı insanlar hayatıma dokundu, ben de onlarınkine ve ortaya hiçbir zaman unutamayacağım
anılar çıktı. Başka sorular var ve bu sonuncusu değil biliyorum, ama söylemeden edemeyeceğim,
Brezilya’ya gitmek verdiğim en doğru kararlardan biriydi. Taubaté’de aynı evde kaldığım, hostellerde
tanıştığım ve beraber zaman geçirdiğim tüm insanlar gerçekten mükemmeldi.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Çok fazla macera ve sıkı dostluklar biriktirdim değişimimde. Mesela bir gün Rio de Janeiro’ya gitmek
üzere Taubaté’deki otogara gittim. Online bilet alamıyordum, o yüzden gittiğim zaman almayı
planlamıştım. Ancak otobüsüm 07:15’teydi ve otobüs firmalarının yazıhaneleri 08:00’de açılıyordu.
Panikledim, etraftakilere sordum ve bir çözüm bulamadım. Tam o sırada bir otobüs yanaştı, içinden
bir muavin indi. Yanına gittim, yarım yamalak Portekizce’mle binmek istediğimi ve ödemeyi elden
yapabileceğimi söyledim. Kayıtsız almayacağını söyledi, imkansız olduğundan bahsetti. Portekizce’m
kötü olduğu için dediklerini tam anlamadım. Ben de ona şöyle bir teklif sundum: “Bir sonraki otogara
kadar beni götür, bu süreçte pasaportumu sana rehin vereyim. Sonra otogarda inince bileti satın
alalım beraber, pasaportumu bana geri ver.” Aklına yatmış olacak ki, beni aldı otobüse. Yolda
muhabbet ettik biraz. Tıp fakültesi öğrencisi olduğumu da söyleyince gülümsedi, kendi kızının da tıp
okuduğunu söyledi. Daha yoldayken pasaportumu geri verdi. Diğer durakta indim, bileti aldım. Bu da
çok küçük ve masum maceralarımdan biridir.  Efsanevi bir değişim deneyimiydi.
Önerileriniz
Hava durumuna iyi bakın. Rio de Janeiro ve kuzeyi sıcaktı ama Sao Paulo ve çevresi soğuktu ağustos
ayında – bildiğiniz üzere o aylarda orada kış yaşanıyor. Yanınıza kalın bir şeyler alsanız fena olmaz.
Ayrıca, para birimi sizi aldatmasın. Brezilya Reali ile Türk Lirası birbirine çok yakın, neredeyse birebir
ancak Brezilya’da hayat pahalı. 1 Türk Lirası ile Türkiye’de aldığınız şeyi Brezilya’da neredeyse 2
Brezilya Reali’ne alıyorsunuz.
Son olarak, kesinlikle biraz Portekizce öğrenip gidin. En azından telefonunuza bir uygulama yükleyin
basit cümleler kurabilmek için. Orada İngilizce bilenlerin sayısı çok çok az, ama Portekizce konuşmaya
çalışırsanız size seve seve yardımcı olacaklardır öğrenmeniz konusunda. 

Stay and Social Programme
I was staying in the house of a close friend of my CP named Rodrigo. This place was a student
apartment (a.k.a. Republika) where I stayed with 6 other medical students. There was a mattress on
the floor of Rodrigo’s room and I slept there during my time in Taubaté. I haven’t seen my CP after
the first couple of days, but the people I stayed with were awesome. We had a perfect time together,
they introduced me to their friends and took me to the parties – mostly taking place every single
night  There was no spesific social programme or national tour except for this.
As I mentioned before, I have travelled by myself in 9 cities the top three of them being Rio de
Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo. I have stayed in hostels and some old friends’ houses during
my visits. In Rio de Janeiro, I have met with the people who made my very first experience of staying
in a hostel very special: a Swedish, 2 Germans and one Polish. I won’t even mention about the warm
attitude of the people working in the hostels. All of them have shown me how exciting travelling can
get and how breath-taking some experiences can be wherever you are around the world – I’m
gratefull for all. Plenty of people have touched my life, so have I done to bunch of others, and I
collected such memories that I will never ever forget. I know there are still some other questions, but
I have to say, going to Brazil was one of the best decisions I made.
Highlights and Memories
I have been to many adventures and made very good friends during my exchange. One day, I went
to the central bus station in Taubaté in order to go to Rio de Janeiro. Because I can’t buy online
tickets with a foreign credit card, I planned to buy my ticket when I arrive in the bus station.
However, my bus was departing at 07:15 and the ticket offices were going open at 8 o’clock. I
panicked and asked the people around but I couldn’t find a solution. At that moment I totally lost all
my hope about catching the bus, a bus with another company’s name written on it came into the bus
station and a conductor got out of it. Going near him, I asked him to get in the bus paying by cash
directly to him with my poor Portuguese. He was so resistant, repeating the same sentence that he
cannot allow me in the bus without recording my info to the system. I didn’t pretty much understand
what else he said but I offered something like this: “Let me get in the bus until the next bus station
and I will give you my passport to keep. While we are on the way, the ticket offices in the next station
will be open and I will buy my ticket in there with you in order to get my passport back.” He had his
time to think, taking care of other customers and then told me to get in. I cannot describe how happy
I was at that moment. While we were on the road, we had a short conversation (it was short because
my Portuguese skills ) but when I said I was studying medicine he smiled and told me that his
daughter was also studying medicine. He gave my passport back before reaching the bus station and
we bought the ticket in the next station. So this was one little and innocent story from my
adventures. 
Advices
Check the forecats very carefully. Northern part of the country –starting from Rio de Janeiro- are
actually warm but Sao Paulo and its surrounding parts are generally in August. As you probably knew,
it is winter in there when it is summer in Turkey. Moral of the story, take something thick with you to
keep warm when needed. In addition, don’t let the currency con you. The rates of Brazilian Reals
and Turkish Liras are almost the same but the life in Brazil is more expensive. Something that you buy
for 1 lira in Turkey may cost 2 Reals in Brazil.As the last word, I strongly recommend you to learn
Portuguese before going. At least you should have some apps on your phone to survive the simple
daily conversations. There are limited number of people in Brazil who knows English but if you try
speaking in Portuguese, they would love to help you learn. 

Araştırma Projesi
Fransa ile SCORE kontratımız bulunmaması sebebiyle ben Fransa’ya SCOPE kontratıyla gitmiştim.
Stajımı Poitiers şehrinde bulunan Université de Poitiers CHU Hastanesi nöroloji bölümünde yaptım.
Bu bölümde de daha çok Serebrovasküler Olay geçirmiş hastaların yatmakta olduğu kısımda
bulundum.Her gün sabah 8:30 gibi hastaneye gidiyordum ve orada o gün bizden sorumlu olan
hocanın ve asistanların eşliğinde vizite katılıyordum. Tutorlarım daha çok Fransızca konuşmayı tercih
ediyorlardı arada bize İngilizce açıklama yapsalar da genellikle Fransızca konuşuyorlardı. Bu durum
benim için problem yaratmasa da yanımda Fransızca bilmeyen diğer öğrenciler olduğu için problem
oluyordu ve onlara ben çevirmenlik yapıyordum. Her Salı günü de asistanlar, internler, stajyerler ve
biz değişim öğrencileri toplanıp vaka tartışma saatleri yapıyorduk. Bu vaka tartışmaları da Fransızca
oluyordu ancak çok ilginç bilgiler öğrenmeme de yardımcı oldu.
Değişim dönemi boyunca hep aynı tip hasta görmem ve hastaların da sıklıkla aynı hastalar oluşu
ilerleyen dönemlerde biraz sıkılmama sebep oldu. Ancak nörolojik fizik muayene yapmak konusunda
çok deneyim kazandım.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Ben sahip olduğum pasaport nedeniyle vize almadım ancak umuma mahsus pasaport sahipleri için
Fransa vize istiyor. Fransa’ya THY ile gittim. Ankara’dan İstanbul’a ordan da uçakla Paris’e gittim.
Buradan da trene binerek Poitiers şehrine ulaştım. Tren garından beni CP’m karşıladı ve eve götürdü.
Dönüşte de Paris’e gidip biraz orada gezdim. Paris’e otobüsle gittim. Böylece çok daha ucuza gitmiş
oldum.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Gittiğim şehir güzeldi ancak çok küçük bir şehirdi. Şehir merkezinin çok güzel ve farklı bir havası vardı.
Ancak genel olarak küçük bir şehir olmasından kaynaklı olarak gidecek pek bir yer yoktu. Gezilecek
yerleri 4-5 günde tamamlayabiliyorsunuz. Bu sebeple biraz sıkıcı olabiliyor.
Fransa’da Poitiers dışında Toulouse ve Paris’i gezdim. Onlardan da kısaca bahsetmem gerekirse:
Toulouse çok güzel bir şehir. Poitiers’nin yanında kocaman kalıyor. Gezilecek görülecek çok fazla yer
var ve kesinlikle gitmenizi tavsiye ediyorum. Paris dünyanın en çok turist çeken şehirlerinden birisi ve
gerçekten çok güzel bir şehir, hatta dünyanın en güzel şehirlerinden bir tanesi. Ben Paris’te 3 gün
kaldım. Otelimden sabah erken saatlerde çıkıyordum ve akşam geç saatlerde dönüyordum. Buna
rağmen hala gezecek yerler bitmedi ve ben dönerken gidemediğim birçok yer vardı. Ancak şehrin belli
başlı yerlerini gezmek için 3 gün yeterli oluyor. Eiffel Kulesi, Champs-Elysee, Sacre Coeur gibi yerleri
kesinlikle gezmeden gelmeyin. Galeries Lafayette’den şehir manzarasını izleyip çok güzel fotoğraflar
çekebilirsiniz. Ben zaman darlığından ve Louvre da çok büyük bir müze olduğundan içeri girmedim
ancak bahçesini ve meşhur cam piramidini görmeye gitmenizi öneririm. Zaman probleminiz yoksa
elbette Mona Lisa’nın sergilendiği Louvre Müzesini de mutlaka gezin. Sabah erken kalkıp Notre-Dame
Katedrali’ni gezmeye giderken oradaki pastanelerden kruvasan yemeyi de ihmal etmeyin.

As we didn’t have a SCORE contract with France until now, I went to France with a SCOPE contract. I
did my internship at the Université de Poitiers CHU Hospital Department of Neurology in the city of
Poitiers. I was mostly in the section where patients undergone cerebrovascular events had been
admitted. I would go to the hospital every morning at 8:30 and attend rounds in the company of the
attending professor and assistants. My tutors mostly preferred talking in French, even though they
sometimes made English explanations they generally spoke French. This situation didn’t challenge
me, however the other students that couldn’t speak French were having issues and I used to
translate for them.Each Tuesday the assistants, interns, residents and us exchange students would
gather and discuss cases. These discussions would be in French as well but it allowed me to learn
very interesting information, too. Seeing the same kind of patient throughout the exchange process
and patients being the same patients most of the time kind of bored me later on in the process.
However, I gained a lot of experience on performing neurological physical examinations.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I didn’t apply for a visa due to the kind of passport I had however France asks for a visa from regular
(maroon) passport owners. I travelled to France with THY( Turkish Airlines). From Ankara to Istanbul,
and from Istanbul I flew to Paris. I got on a train to Poitiers after that. My CP welcomed me in the
train station and took me home. On my way back I went to Paris and toured the city. I went to Paris
by bus, it was much cheaper that way.
City and Country
The city I went to was beautiful but really small. The city center had a beautiful and different
atmosphere. However generally due to the fact that it is a small city, there were not a lot of places to
go to. You can see everything there is to see in no more than 4-5 days. This is why it can get quite
boring. Besides Poitiers, I have visited Toulouse and Paris in France. If I have to talk about them
concisely: Toulouse is a very beautiful city. It is huge compared to Poitiers. There are many places to
see and I absolutely advise you to go there. Paris is one of the most tourist attracting cities in the
world and it is a truly beautiful city, one of the most beautiful cities in the world even. I stayed in
Paris for 3 days. I used to leave my hotel early in the morning and wouldn’t come back until the late
hours of the evening. Despite this, I wasn’t done with places to see and there were many left to see
when it was time for me to return. Don’t come back until you have seen places like The Eiffel Tower,
Champs-Élysées and Sacré-Cœur. You can watch over the city from Galeries Lafayette and take
marvelous pictures. As my time in the city was limited and Louvre is a very big museum, I couldn’t go
in but I suggest you go and see the famous glass pyramid. Of course, if you don’t have time
constraints visit the Louvre Museum Mona Lisa is being exhibited at. Don’t pass up on the
opportunity to eat a croissant from the bakeries on the way to the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the
morning.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Ben CP’im ve ailesinin yanında konakladım. Böyle olması özellikle yemek konusundaki
harcamalarımın çok azalmasını sağladı. Aynı zamanda CP’m ve arkadaşları da benimle çok ilgilendiler.
Ancak evin şehirden uzak olması sebebiyle sürekli beni birilerinin arabayla alması gerekiyordu okula
gelip giderken ve bu durum da beni CP’me bağımlı hale getirmişti. Bu açıdan zorluklar yaşadım. Onun
dışında benimle çok ilgilendiler. Beni sık sık şehrin gezilecek yerlerine gezmeye götürdüler.Küçük bir
şehir olması nedeniyle daha çok sinema, mini golf, maymun parkı, lunapark gibi aktivitelerde
bulunduk.
Kaldığım evin şehir dışı olması nedeniyle hareket imkanım kısıtlıydı. Değişimin son dönemlerinde bir
başka değişim öğrencisinin yanında kaldım. Şehirde benden başka değişim öğrencilerinin olması da
çok iyi oldu. Günümün çoğunu onlarla geçirdim ve kesinlikle değişimimin daha güzel olmasını
sağladılar. Oradan kalan arkadaşlıklarımı hala sürdürüyorum.
Benim gittiğim dönemde 1 adet National Tour düzenlendi ve o da Toulouse’aydı. Ancak fiyat olarak
biraz pahalıydı. Genelde çadırlarda ve yerlerde yatmıştık o gezide. Ancak onun dışında gezdiğimiz
yerler çok güzeldi. Ayrıca Güney’deki İspanya sınırındaki dağlara gittik.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişimim genel hatlarıyla güzeldi ancak şehrin küçük olması ve hastanede sürekli aynı departmanın
aynı kısmında bulunmam biraz sıkıcıydı. Değişim dönemimde benimle aynı zamanda orda olan diğer
değişim öğrencilerinin bulunması benim için bir şanstı. Onlarla beraber yapınca bütün aktivitelerimizi
daha eğlenceli oldu.
Önerileriniz
Yukarıda da defalarca belirttiğim gibi küçük bir şehirde olmam biraz sıkılmama neden oldu. Ancak
diğer şehirlere yaptığımız geziler ve orda edindiğim arkadaşlıklar sayesinde güzel bir değişim dönemi
geçirmiş oldum. İleride gideceklere tavsiyem de diğer değişim öğrencileriyle çabuk kaynaşmaları ve
mümkün olduğunca sosyal programı kendileri organize etmeleri yönünde 

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed with my CP and his family. This dramatically decreased my expenses, the ones pertaining to
meals in particular. My CP and his friends took great care of me as well.
However as the house was far away from the city somebody had to always pick me up with a car on
my way to school and this made me dependent on my CP. I had some difficulties due to this
situation. They were really attentive besides that. They would frequently take me to interesting
places in the city. Since it was a small city, we mostly went to the cinema, the mini golf field, the
monkey park and the amusement park.
As the house I was staying in was outside the city my movements were limited. I stayed with another
exchange student during the last days of my exchange. I was really glad that there were other
exchange students besides me. I spent most of my time with them and they definitely made my
exchange a better one. The friendships I made there still continue.
One National Tour was arranged during the time I was there and it was to Toulouse. However, it was
a bit expensive. We mostly slept in tents or on the floor during that trip. But besides that, the places
that we visited were spectacular. We went to the mountains on the Spain frontier in the South as
well.
Highlights and Memories
The overall exchange was good but the city being small and me being on the same section of the
same department all the time was quite boring. I was lucky to have other exchange students with me
there. All the activities became more enjoyable when I was with them.
Advices
As I have mentioned many times earlier, being in a small city was a bit boring. However the trips to
other cities and the friends I made there made my exchange period a good one. My advice to
upcoming exchangers would be to blend in as soon as possible and to organize their own social
programs when possible

Araştırma Projesi
Gittiğim bölüm yalnızca biri erkek 12 patoloji hocasından oluşan bir bölümdü. Prof. Mustac sorumlu profesördü
ve asıl tutorım olan Prof. Sanja ile birlikte çalıştıkları konu meme kanseriydi. Bölümün hemen alt katı patoloji ve
immünohistoloji laboratuarlarıyla dolup taşıyordu.
Stajımın ilk haftasında henüz dönem1 öğrencisi olup patoloji derslerini almadığımdan Robbin’s Pathology’den
Neoplasia bölümünü okuyup bitirdim. Onun dışında günlük işlerinde Dr. Sanja’yla birlikte gözlemci olarak
gezindim. İlk gün 7tane plesanta otopsisi gerçekleştirdik, bir gün meme kanseri olan 82yaşındaki bir kadının
otopsisine girdik. Otopsilerden aldığımız örnekleri diğer günün sabahında önce ışık mikroskobuyla inceleyip
aralarından seçtiğimiz 2-3 sample’ı floresan mikroskobunda inceledik. İkinci hafta ise mastektomi ameliyatı
sonrası bölüme gelen projeye katılacak bir çift memeyle ilgilenmeye başladık. İlk gün özel boyama işlemini,
ikinci gün biyopsilik örnek alma işlemini yaptık. Üçüncü gün ise örnekleri mikroskoplarda inceledik. Çift okülerli
ışık mikroskoplarında inceleme yaptığımızdan Dr. Sanja bütün detayları gösterip anlamamı sağladı.
Çift oküler başında yalnızca patolojik örneklerden değil aynı zamanda günlük hayattan sohbet ettiğimiz
zamanlar da oldu. 40kişilik incoming grubumuzun yaklaşık yarısı, hocalarının ingilizce bilmediklerinden
yakınırlarken biz Dr. Sanja ile ilk günden gayet güzel bir iletişim kurduk. Dr. Sanja gerçekten öğrencisine değer
veren ve işlerinde de oldukça başarılı bakışlarından zekası belli olan bir doktordu. Contact personlarımın birçoğu
da Dr. Sanja’yı tanıyıp çok seviyorlardı. Bunun yanında Giden kişinin patoloji dersini almış olması hem kendisi
için gördüklerini anlaması açısından hem de tutorı için daha güzel olucaktır.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Hırvatistan yeşil pasaport için vize istemeyen bir ülke. O anlamda zaten var olan pasaportum bana hiçbir sorun
çıkarmadı. Yolculuğum uçakla Ankara-İstanbul-Zagreb yönünde oldu. Hırvatistan’ın başkenti olan Zagreb’te
havaalanına indikten sonra Havaş tarzı otobüslerle otogara geçtim. Havaş’ımın şoförünün çatpat ingilizcesiyle
bilet alacağım yeri ve Rijeka’ya gidecek otobüslerin bulunduğu bölümü kolayca buldum. 40kuna yani yaklaşık
5euro olan otobüs biletimle 2saatlik yolculuk sonrası Rijeka’nın mütevazı şehir merkezinin hemen yanındaki
otobüs durağına indiğimde zaten contact personımla annesi beni arabalarıyla beklemekteydi. Size de yapmanızı
tavsiye ederim ki Wifi bulamama ihtimalinize karşı Cp’nizle daha hala Türkiye’deyken sizi karşılaması gereken
saati ve yeri kararlaştırmalısınız. Böylece yaklaşık 10saat süren yolculuğum sonrasında Rijeka’da bir ayımı
geçireceğim öğrenci yurduna o akşam yerleşmiş oldum.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Ben Hırvatistan’ı da Rijeka’yı da umduğumdan çok daha fazla sevdim. Çoğu insanın ingilizce biliyor olması ile
birçok ulaşım yolunun ortasında bulunmasından dolayı turistlere alışık bir şehir olması insanlarla çok kolay
iletişim kurmanızı sağlıyor. Rijeka çok da büyük olmayan bir şehirdi zaten. Kale tarafı ile Korzo caddesi etrafı
gezip takılabileceğiniz kafeler, restoranlar, müzeler, mağazalar ve küçük dükkanlar ile dolu. Gider gitmez
contact person’ınıza Korzo’ya giden otobüslerin numaralarını sormanızla (zaten bir ay boyunca Rijeka
otobüslerinde bedava ulaşımınızı sağlayacak olan kartlarınızı yurda yerleşirken size veriyorlar.) 15dk’da şehir
merkezinde olmanız çok kolay. Ki Korzo Caddesinin tam ortasında da free wifi 24saat sizinle. Rijeka’nın dört bir
yanı plajlar ile kaplı. Öğleye kadar hastanede stajınızdasınız öğle yemeğinizi yiyip hava müsaade ettikçe her gün
yeni bir plaj deneyebiliyorsunuz. Yazınızı yaz gibi geçirmeniz şehirde de mümkün oluyor yani.

Research Project
The department that I was assigned to had 12 professors of pathology of which only one was male. The
professor in charge was Prof.Mustac and the topic they were studying with my actual tutor Prof.Sanja was
breast cancer. Just one floor below where the department was located were lots of pathology and
immunohistology laboratories. As it was my first year in medical school and I hadn’t taken pathology yet, I read
and finished the Neoplasia chapter of Robbin’s Pathology during my first week as an intern. Except for that I
walked around as an observer next to Dr. Sanja as he performed his daily duties. My first day there we
performed 7 placenta autopsies and one day we had the opportunity to watch an 82 year old breast cancer
patients autopsy. The morning after the autopsies we would examine the samples under light microscopes to
choose 2-3 samples among them to be studied under a fluorescence microscope. During my second week, we
started taking care of a pair of breasts which were delivered to the department after a mastectomy. We
applied the special dying techniques the first day and completed the procedure of taking samples for a biopsy
the second day. The third day, we studied the samples under a microscope. As we were examining the samples
using light microscopes with a pair of oculars Dr.Sanja made me comprehend fully by showing me all the
details. Pathological samples were not the only topic of discussion next to the pair of oculars; we would chat
about our daily lives from time to time. While almost half of the 40- people incoming group complained about
their tutors not being able to speak English, the communication between me and Dr.Sanja was great from the
first day. Dr. Sanja is a person who truly values his students and is really successful at what he does, you can tell
by the way he looks at you that he is an intelligent man. Most of my contact persons knew and loved Dr.Sanja.
My project deserves at least 4 out of 5 in my opinion, however it would be better for the student to have taken
pathology lessons beforehand as it would not only allow the student to better comprehend the given
information but also would make the process easier for the tutor.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
Croatia is one of those countries that doesn’t require additional visa if you have a green passport, so my
passport in hand didn’t cause any problems. My trip consisted of an Ankara-İstanbul-Zagreb flight. After landing
in Croatia’s capital- Zagreb’s airport I took a bus very much like Havaş to the bus station. With the help of the
Havaş drivers broken English I easily found the place to buy a ticket and where the busses going to Rijeka were
located. When I got off the bus, after a 2 hour ride with my 40 kuna- approximately 5 euros- ticket, right next to
the humble city center of Rijeka my contact person and her mother were already waiting for me. I advise you to
talk about a meeting point and time with your CP before you leave Turkey in case you won’t be able to find
wifi. This is how I reached the dormitory in which I would be staying for a month after a 10 hour trip.
City and Country
I liked both Croatia and Rijeka more than I had hoped. The fact that most people know English and how much
the city is used to tourists due to it being located in the middle of a lot of routes of transportation makes it
easier to communicate in the city. Rijeka was not that big of a city. Korzo Street and the Castle area are
surrounded by places you can walk around and hang out in like cafés, restaurants, museums, shops and little
stores. It is really easy to get to the city center in just 15 minutes if you ask your contact person to tell you the
numbers of the busses to Korzo as soon as you get there. Rijeka is surrounded by beaches. You are at the
hospital as part of your clerkship until the afternoon and after you’ve had lunch you are able to try out
different beaches every day as much as the weather allows. It is possible to spend your summer like any other
in the city as well.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Yaklaşık 40incoming idik ve hepimiz yurtta kaldık. Üniversitenin şehirde 3hastanesi vardı. Ben şanslıydım çünkü
benim hastanem yurda yürüyerek 15, otobüsle 5-6dk uzaklıktaydı. En uzak hastane de otobüsle 30dk falan
uzaklıktaydı. Her incomingin kendisinin birer contact personı vardı, yurda yerleşimi ve şehre gelmeden önce
merak edilen konular hakkında bilgi almanıza yardım etmek için. Ancak sonra bir ay boyunca sürekli bizimle
olmadılar. Geziler boyunca toplam 1ile5 arası değişen contact person’larlaydık onun dışında facebook
grubumuzdan ya da whatsapp gruplarıyla akşam içmece ya da kaleye / tiyatroya gitme planları yapıyorduk ve
uygun olan cp’ler de bize katılıyordu.
Sosyal program harikaydı. Hırvatistan’da ne kadar eğlenebilirim ki demeyin ki sosyal program dolup taşarken
üzerine siz kendiniz Venedik ve Ljubljana gezileri de ayarlayın derim. Hocalarınızdan alıcağınız 1-2 günlük izinler
haftasonlarıyla birleşince max 4saat ile ulaşabileceğiniz yerlerde güzel tatiller yapmanıza yetip de artıyor. Sosyal
programlardan kastım Welcome and NFDP, Goodbye Party, Sightseeing ve Kale gezmesine ilaveten kendilerinin
ayarladıkları ama National Tour kıvamındaki gezilerdi. Zaten siz daha gitmeden sosyal programı ve yaklaşık
ücretini size bildiriyorlar ona göre de gitmeden yaklaşık bütçenizi ayarlayabiliyorsunuz. 3tane gezi vardı:
İlk haftasonu Plitvicze Doğal Parkına yaptığımız ve dolaşması yayan+otobüs+küçük tekneler ile gerçekleşen
6saatlik bir turla gözlerinizin o doğal güzellikle kamaşabileceği bir turdu. İkincisi Hırvatista’nın Istra denen
bölgesine yapılan gezi. 3 birbirinden güzel turistik şehir. Sırayla Pula, Rovinj ve Motovun. Pula deniz kenarında
ve eski bir arenası, yer altı sarnıcı ve birkaç tane daha tarihi eseri olan bir şehir. Rovinj Hırvatistanın romantik
şehri, deniz kenarında ve elit kesimin düğünleri için tercih ettikleri bir şehir, renkleriyle sizi de eminim çok
etkileyecek. Son olarak Motovun tepesinin, tepesindeki kalenin etrafına kurulu şehir. Uçsuz bucaksız yemyeşil
bir manzarası olan sakin bir şehir.
Son olarak ve anlata anlata bitiremeyeceğim 6günlük Zadar-Split-Dubrovnik gezisi. Evet 6gün yani hafta içinden
çalacağınız 4gün demek ama hocalarınız da bu şehirleri görmeden Hırvatistan’dan ayrılmanızı istemediğinden
gönül rahatlığıyla izninizi alabiliyorsunuz. Zagreb başkent ve en büyük şehir; ikinci en büyük ve eğlencesifestivalleri ile ünlü şehir Split; üçüncü en büyük ve limanı yani deniz ticaretiyle ünlü şehri Rijeka ve Game of
Thrones ile ününe ün katmış Hırvatistan’ın en güneyindeki hem tarihi hem doğası hem gece hayatıyla
vazgeçilmez olan şehri Dubrovnik. Demek istediğim bu geziyi de tamamlarsanız artık dönüş tarihinizden 1gün
önce gidip Zagreb şehir merkezini de görmenizle Hırvatistan’ı kelimenin tam anlamıyla fethettiğinizi
söyleyebilirsiniz. Sosyal programa puanım tabiki de 5üzerinden 6. Bu kadar düzenli devam eden ve sorunsuz
biten bir tur gerçekleştirmeleri gerçekten takdire şayan.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Dubrovnik’e gitmek opsiyoneldi ve gidenler olarak iyi ki gittik dedik tabi ki. Hem de gitmeden bir apart kiraladık
ve 5kişi için olan apartta fazla kişi kalarak zaten bir ayınızın son günlerine denk gelen bu gezide ve Dubrovnik
gibi otobüs biletlerinin bile normalinin iki katı olduğu bir yerde paranızı daha makul yerlere yatırmanızı tavsiye
ederim. Dubrovnik Old City’de 3gezme opsiyonu var, kesinlikle en uzun olanını seçin, her yerini gezip gün
batımında fotoğraf çekilin. Ve kale duvarlarına da çıkmadan ayrılmayın zaten öğrenci kartınızı gösterdiğiniz
zaman 10euro civarına denk geliyor. Dubrovnik’te kaliteli sokak çalgıcılarına ve birkaç düğüne de
rastlayabilirsiniz, durup izlemenizi tavsiye ederim :) Tabi tüm bunları yapabilmeniz için Dubrovnik eski şehre
erkenden gitmeniz iyi olur. Örneğin öğle yemeğini eski şehire gitmeden ucuz bir yerlerde atıştırıp ertesinde
3.5saat Old City’yi gezip üzerine teleferikle tepeye çıkıp bir de kuş bakışı manzaranızın tadını çıkartırken
kahvenizi yudumlayabilirsiniz. Tepeye çıkarken kullandığınız teleferik hava koşullarına bağlı olarak
durdurulabiliyor o yüzden hava durumuna bakarak olursanız da iyi olur.
Önerileriniz
Daha gitmeden telefonunuza ‘Ulmon’ app’ini indirip, Rijeka ve daha birçok şehrin internetsiz ulaşabileceğiniz
haritalarını bulabilirsiniz. İnanın bana denemeye değer, kaybolmaya birebir.Maraskino almadan dönmeyin!
Dubrovnik’te denize girin. Gitmeden önce eduoram kullanıcı adınızı ve şifrenizi öğrenirseniz yurdun her
köşesinde internete kolayca giriş yapabilirsiniz. Yurdun bahçesindeki cafe tarzı yerde free wifi ve güzel içecekler
mevcut, benim gibi geç keşfetmenizi istemem.

Stay and Social Programme
We were a group of about 40 incoming students and we all stayed in the dormitory. The university had 3
hospitals in the city. I was lucky because my hospital was 15 minutes to the dormitory on foot, and 5-6 minutes
by bus. The farthest hospital was about a 30 minute distance by bus. Each incoming had a contact person of
his/her own to make it easier for us to get information on how to get settled in the dormitory and other topics
of interest before setting off for Rijeka. However, they were not with us at all times for the following month.
We were usually accompanied by 1 to 5 contact persons during our trips, besides that we would plan on going
for drinks or to the Castle/theatre through our Facebook group or Whatsapp groups and the CP’s that were
available would join us. I would rate my CP’s 3.5 out of 5. The social program was spectacular. Don’t look at it
as “How much fun could Croatia possibly be” and arrange trips to Venice and Ljubljana despite the packed
social program. When you combine your permissions from your tutors for 1-2 days off with the weekends, you
will have more than enough time to visit places which are 4 hours away at most and make great getaways. By
social program I mean the trips resembling national tours organized by the local team in addition to Welcome
and NFDP, Goodbye Party, Sightseeing and the trip to the Castle. They tell you an estimated price for the social
program before you arrive to enable you to adjust your budget before leaving for Croatia. There were 3
trips:The first weekend, the trip to Plitvizce National Park included a 6 hour tour which required us to travel on
foot, by bus and by small boats, allowing us to see how blinding those naturally beautiful sights could be. (
Don’t believe them when they tell you before you leave for the park that it is going to be cold outside, it is a
place to wear sandals-shorts and a t-shirt to. During 5 hours of the 6 hour tour you will see that there isn’t any
place that you could buy food from inside the park, definitely bring something to eat like a fruit and a bottle of
water with you and prepare for a tiring day.)The second trip was to the Istra region of Croatia. 3 touristic cities,
each one more beautiful than the other…Pulo, Rovinj and Motovun respectively. Pulo was a city by the sea with
an old arena, an underground cistern and a few other historic monuments. Rovinj, romantic city of Croatia, is
also by the sea and is usually preferred by the upper class for weddings, the city will mesmerize you with its
colors, I’m sure of that. Finally, the city built around the castle on top of the Motovun hill, it is a peaceful city
with an endless green view. Consider bringing extra money with you to buy gifts. And finally, the 6 day ZadarSplit-Dubrovnik trip which I cannot tell you enough about but I will have to summarize and strongly advise
against missing it. Zagreb is the capital and the biggest city, the second biggest and the most fun city-known for
its festivals- is Split, the third biggest city -also famous for its harbor- is Rijeka while Dubrovnik is getting more
and more famous every day thanks to Game of Thrones. Dubrovnik, located on the south end of Croatia, is an
icon with its history, natural beauties and nightlife. What I mean to say is that if you complete this trip with a
visit to Zagreb’s city center one day prior to your departure, you can say that you have truly conquered Croatia.
Highlights and Memories
The trip to Dubrovnik was optional and as the participants we were glad to have visited Dubrovnik. We rented a
furnished apartment before we went there and I advise you to spend your money on more reasonable things
by fitting in more than 5 people into an apartment for 5 people, as this trip takes place during the last days of
your month there in Dubrovnik where even the bus tickets are double the regular price. There are 3 options if
you want to walk around in Dubrovnik Old City, definitely take the longest one, visit everywhere and get your
picture taken at sunset. Don’t leave without climbing the Castle walls; it costs about 10 euros with your student
identification. You can come across qualified street musicians and a couple of weddings in Dubrovnik, I
recommend you to stop and watch. It would be best to arrive at Dubrovnik Old City at an early hour to be able
to do all this. For example, following a lunch at a budget friendly place before leaving for Old City, you can walk
around in Old City for three and a half hours and get on a cable car to climb the hill that allows you to enjoy a
bird’s eye view of the city as well and sip your coffee in the meantime. The cable cars used to carry you up the
hill may be out of service due to weather conditions, so be sure to check the weather forecast.
Advices
Download the ‘ulmon’ app before you go, you can find maps of Rijeka and many other cities without internet
connection. Trust me it’s worth trying, just the thing you will need when you get lost. Don’t come back without
buying Maraschino. Go for a swim in the sea in Dubrovnik. Don’t postpone diving into the sea to the next day
without checking the weather forecasts. You can buy your sim card from a kiosk.

Araştırma Projesi
Complutense University of Madrid İmmünoloji departmanındaki projem, mide kanserli hastaların
DNA’larında, T hücrelerinin aktivitesini azaltan TGF-Beta ve onunla ilişkili LAP (Latency Associated
Peptide) proteininin fazla aktivasyonuna neden olan bir mutasyonun varlığını araştırıyordu. Projenin
hipotezi, immün sistemin kontrolsüz bölünen hücrelere karşı yetersizliğinin, bu mutasyondan ileri
geliyor olabileceğiydi. Bunu test etmek için, tükürük örneğinden DNA izole etme, PCR, elektroforez,
solüsyon hazırlama gibi birçok işlemi gözlemleme ve bizzat yapma fırsatı buldum. Ayrıca projem
dışında, otoklav kullanımından, immünhistokimyasal boyamaya kadar pek çok yöntemi uygulama
şansım oldu. Sürecin sonunda 2 gün boyunca laboratuvarda deneylerimi tek başıma yürütmeme bile
izin verildi. Tutor’um Dr. Martin Villa ve laboratuvarda benden sorumlu master öğrencisi Javier ile
aram çok iyiydi. Saygı çerçevesinde, ancak hiyerarşiden uzak, arkadaş gibi bir iletişimimiz vardı.
Laboratuardaki diğer öğrenci ve hocalar da oldukça sıcakkanlıydı.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yeşil pasaportum olduğundan, vize durumu hakkında bir fikrim yok. Yeşil pasaporta sahip olanlar
herhangi bir vizeye ihtiyaç duymadan rahatlıkla ülkeye giriş gerçekleştirebilir. Uçuşumu Türk Hava
Yolları’yla gerçekleştirdim. (Ankara-İstanbul-Madrid uçuşu) Yanlış hatırlamıyorsam, İstanbul’dan
yolculuk yaklaşık 4 saat sürüyor. Havaalanına vardığımda, Contact Personlardan biri beni karşıladı ve
arabasıyla kalacağım yere ulaştırdı.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Madrid modernlikle tarihi özellikleri bir araya toplamayı başarmış bir şehir. En büyük caddesi olan
Gran Via’da bir kahve içtikten sonra, Plaza del Cibeles’te tarihi yapıları gözlemleme şansı
bulabilirsiniz!  Yaz aylarında bunaltıcı olmayan bir sıcağı var, ancak yağmur ve fırtına da olabiliyor.
Metro ağı mükemmel, değişim süresinin başında alacağınız bir metro kartıyla (23 yaş altı sanırım 40
euro kadardı) bir ay boyunca metroyu istediğiniz kadar kullanabiliyor, her yere gidebiliyorsunuz.
Puerta del Sol, Plaza Real, Retiro Parkı, Prado Müzesi, mutlaka görülmesi gereken mekanlardan.
Ülkenin merkezinde bulunduğu için, birçok farklı şehre gitme şansınız olabiliyor. Madrid’deki en çok
dikkat edilmesi gereken nokta: Hırsızlık. Metroda, parklarda ruhunuz duymadan telefonunuz,
cüzdanınız çalınabiliyor. Çantanız yanıbaşınızda, parkta çimlerde yatıp şekerleme yaparken bile.
(Bizzat başıma geldi, dikkat!) İspanyollar çok sıcakkanlı, ancak İspanya’nın genel sıkıntısı kimsenin
doğru dürüst İngilizce konuşmaması. (Fakültede bile bu konuda zorluk çektim.) Ama 5 üzerinden 5
yıldız!

Research Project
My project in the Immunology Department of Complutense
University of Madrid investigated the existence of a certain
mutation that increased the activation of molecules that
cause decreased T-lymphocyte activity, in the DNAs of
patients with gastric cancer. The hypothesis was that this
mutation might be the cause of the defective immune
reaction towards cancer cells in these patients. In order to test
this, I had the chance to observe and conduct many experiments like isolating DNA from saliva
sample, PCR, electrophoresis… Moreover, I saw and applied many methods like tha autoclave usage,
or immunohistochemical staining, outside the boundaries of my own project. At the end of the
research period, they even let me be alone in the lab and conduct experiments on my own. I got on
really well with my tutor Dr. Villa and Javier, the master student responsible from the lab. Tutor’um
Dr. Martin Villa ve laboratuvarda benden sorumlu master öğrencisi Javier ile aram çok iyiydi. We had
a relationship based on respect, but we were more like friends, with barely any hints of hierarchy.
The other students and professors in the lab were also very friendly.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I have no idea about the visa procedures, since I own a green passport. Those who have green
passport can go to Spain without any extra requirements. I flied with Turkish Airlines, (Ankaraİstanbul-Madrid) The flight from İstanbul to Madrid took about 4 hours, if I’m not mistaken. When I
arrived at the Madrid airport, one of the CPs greeted me there and took me to the city centre by car.
City and Country
Madrid is a city which has successfully united modernity and history. You can admire the historical
structures in Plaza del Cibeles right after you have a cup of coffee at Gran Via, the greatest avenue of
the city!  It’s hot in summer, but there might also be rain and storm. The subway lines are
magnificent, you can use the subway as many times as you want, with a metro card you get at the
beginning of your exchange period. (It costs 40 euros for students under the age of 23, I guess.)
Puerta del Sol, Plaza Real, Retiro Park, Prado Museum are the must-sees in Madrid. Since the city’s
located in the centre of the city, you can visit many other cities in Spain. On the other hand, the thing
you have to be careful about most in Madrid is pickpockets. Your mobile phone, your wallet might
get stolen in parks, or on the subway, and you wouldn’t even notice. Apart from that, Spanish people
are really amiable. They don’t speak English well though  (Even at the faculty!)But 5 stars out of 5!

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Konaklamamız, fakülte öğrencilerinin ayarladığı evlerde kalma şeklinde oldu. 5 odası, bir mutfağı ve
iki banyosu olan büyük bir evde, bir odaya iki kişi yerleşecek şekilde kaldık. (6 değişim öğrencisiydik,
odalardan biri boş, diğerinde ise değişimle alakası olmayan İspanyol biri kalıyordu, böyle durumlar
olabiliyor.) Bir yurtta hep beraber kalan değişim öğrencilerinin daha çok kaynaştığı düşünüldüğünde
içimde biraz ukte kalmadı değil, ancak evde kalmak da çok rahattı. Kendi alışverişimizi yaparak, rahat
rahat duşumuzu alarak kaostan uzak bir 1 ay geçirdik.  Evimiz üniversiteye yürüyerek 20 dk, metro
ile ise 10 dk kadar sürüyordu. Ayrıca büyük marketlere de yakındı.
CP’lere gelirsek… 30 kadar öğrenciydik, 3 tane CP’miz vardı. Hırsızlık, kaybolma gibi birçok
sıkıntımızda yardımcı oldular sağ olsunlar, ancak, her ne kadar hepsini çok sevsem de, sayıları
yetersizdi ve sosyal program anlamında bizle çok ilgilendiklerini maalesef söyleyemeyeceğim.
National Food and Drink Party, bir bar, bir disko ve Toledo’ya günübirlik gezi haricinde pek bir şey
düzenlenmedi. İspanya’da bulunduğum süre içinde haftasonları Barcelona ve Granada’ya gittim
ancak yolculuk ve konaklamayı hep kendim hallettim. Sosyal programı da arkadaşlarımızla birlikte
halletmeye çalıştık. Ayrıca LEO ve LORE’lerle doğru dürüst tanışma fırsatımız olmadı.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Genel olarak gerçekten çok güzeldi. Laboratuarda çalışmayı çok sevdiğim için üniversiteye bayıla
bayıla gidiyordum, öğleden sonra yorulmadan şehri geziyordum… Arkadaşlarımla olduğu kadar, tek
başıma da gezmekten çok zevk aldım, kendimi asla yalnız hissetmedim. Barcelona ve Granada
seyahatlerim, kesinlikle akılda kalan ve “İyi ki gitmişim” dediğim anılarım. İspanya benim için
gerçekten mükemmel, ufuk açan bir deneyim oldu. Yeni insanlar tanıdım, yeni kültürler, yeni yerler
gördüm, güzel arkadaşlar edindim. Avusturyalı oda arkadaşım Türkiye’ye geldi mesela, gerçekten
bundan daha büyük mutluluk olamaz. Şu an dersler ve stajlar sırasında ne zaman karamsarlığa
düşsem, değişim tecrübelerimi hatırlıyor ve mutlu oluyorum.

Hırsızlığa dikkat!
CP’ler konusunda biraz sıkıntımız oldu dediğim gibi, aynı şeyleri yaşayacak gibi olursanız üşenmeyin,
eğer maddi imkanınız da varsa www.booking.com, www.hostelbookers.com gibi siteleri bolca
kullanın, İspanya’nın otobüs firması ALSA’dır onun sitesinden biletinizi ayarlayın, başka şehirlere de
gidin haftasonları. Mutlaka “tapas” yiyin! Tapas kavramı, küçük sandviçlerden çeşitli mezelere kadar
geniş bir atıştırmalık yelpazeyi içeriyor.Diskolardan Kapital, barlardan Mercado Provenzal’i
öneriyorum. Son olarak, dil sıkıntısı
nedeniyle,
hiç
değilse
başlangıçseviyesinde
de
olsa
İspanyolca bilerek gitmenizde
fayda var.

Stay and Social Programme
We stayed at a house which the students from the faculty had arranged. Our house was a big one,
with five rooms, one kitchen and two bathrooms. In each room stayed 2 students. (As Exchange
students we occupied 3 rooms, one room was empty and in the other one there was a Spanish guy
whom we didn’t know.) It was kind of calm when compared to the dormitories where all the
exchange students stay together, but it was cosy and much more comfortable anyway, doing our
own shopping, taking a shower comfortably, away from the chaos.  Our house was 20 minutes
away from the university on foot and 15 minutes away from the city centre, by walking.
About the CPs… We were about 30 exchange students there, and there were only 3 CPs. They helped
a lot in case of problems like thievery, or getting lost, etc. As much as I love them all very much, I
have to say that their number was insufficient, and they unfortunately didn’t do much in the aspect
of social program. National Food and Drink Party, a bar, a disco, and a one-day trip to Toledo were
pretty much the only things they arranged. I had the chance to visit other cities like Granada and
Barcelona on the weekends during the period I was in Spain, but I had to organize the trip and the
accomodation on my own. And the social program, we tried to figure out with friends. Furthermore,
we didn’t have the chance to meet the LEO and the LORE.
Highlights and Memories
It was very beautiful, really. I loved to work in the lab, I loved to wander around in the city in the
afternoon, sometimes with my friends, sometimes alone, but I never felt lonely. My trips to
barcelona and Granada are definitely one of the most striking times of my Exchange period, ı’m really
glad that I arranged those trips. I got to know new people, I encountered new cultures and new
places, I had many good friends. My Austrian roommate came to Turkey this winter, well, that’s a
thing! It was a perfect experience for me, which lead to new horizons. Now, whenever I feel
pessimistic about school, I think of Spain, cherish the memories and smile.
Advices
Pickpockets! Beware!
We had some problems about the CP’s as I said before, if you happen to be in the same situation,
and if you have enough money, don’t hesitate to organize your trips. Use the websites
www.booking.com, www.hostelbookers.com frequently, buy your tickets from ALSA, the national
bus company of Spain. I recommend Kapital the disco, Mercado Provenzal the bar. Definitely try
“Tapas”! It includes a wide variety
of
snacks,
from
little
sandwiches to side dishes.
Lastly, I strongly recommend
learning Spanish, at least a
little bit, before you go.

Araştırma Projesi
Projem temelde akciğer kanseri nedeniyle göğüs cerrahisinde
ameliyat sonrası morbidite ve mortalite takibine dayanıyordu.
Yalnız bir aylık bir sürede böyle bir çalışmanın sonuca ulaşması
mümkün olunmadığından daha çok ameliyathanede
çalışıyordum. Tutorum oldukça genç, uzmanlığını yeni almış dinamik
ve eğlenceli bir insandı. İtalyanların cana yakınlığını ilk günden hissettirdi diyebilirim.( Sabahları
ameliyathanede gördüğünüz doktoru akşamları sizinle beraber partiye katıldığını görünce hissedilen
türden bir yakınlık  )
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Vize konusunda sıkıntı yaşamadım desem yanlış olmaz sanırım. Zira İtalya’ya gidince insanın görmek
istediği oldukça fazla şehir ve ilgi çekici mekanlar var. Dolayısıyla ben de proje tarihinden 7-8 gün
önceden İtalya turu planlamıştım. Ancak konsolosluktaki yetkililer sadece 30 iş günlük vize
verdiklerinden stajımı biraz daha erken bitirmek zorunda kaldım.
Palermo’ya en kolay ve hesaplı ulaşımı uzun bir süre araştırdım ve en mantıklısının Roma üzerinden
uçmak olduğuna karar verdiğimi söyleyebilirim. Yalnız Türkiye üzerinden direk Palermo ( veya Sicilya )
ya aktarmalı gitmek pek akıllı bir seçim olmuyor zira Alitalia tek seçenek kalıyor ve oldukça pahalı bir
opsiyon olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. Onun yerine benim önerim Roma ve Palermo uçuşlarını birbirinden
bağımsız almanız. İki defa bavul taşımak zorunda kalmak nahoş bir duruma sebebiyet verse de yine
de bütçe dostu olduğunu kolaylıkla söyleyebilirim.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Gittiğim sene İtalya’yı baştan aşağı dolaştım diyebilirim sanırım. Fazlasıyla etkileyici olduğunu
belirtmeme pek gerek yoktur diye düşünüyorum. Özellikle Palermo’dan bahsedecek olursam ise
İstanbul’dan pek de farkı olmayan bir şehre gittim. Metropolitanlığından çok karmaşası İtalya’nın
kuzeyine göre oldukça fazlaydı. Çok temiz bir şehir olduğunu da söyleyemeyeceğim aynı zamanda.
Aynı zamanda yaz aylarında oldukça sıcak ve nemli bir havası olduğunu, Akdeniz iklimini sonuna
kadar hissettiğiniz bir yerdir Palermo. Büyük sayılabilecek bir şehir aslında. Sicilya’nın bölgesel
başkenti olarak geçiyor. Unutmadan bahsetmek istediğim bir özelliği de biraz tehlikeli bir yer olması.
Benim başıma herhangi bir aksilik gelmemiş olsa da başka bir Türk arkadaşım Oc ile tam olarak
anlaşamayıp akşamın bir vakti yolunu internetsiz bir şekilde bulmaya çalışınca küçük bir hırsızlık olayı
yaşamıştı. Hem de ilk geldiği günün ilk saatinde. Sonuçta OC nin sözünü dinlememiz gerekiyor her
zaman olduğu gibi .

Research Project
My project was fundamentally based on the tracking of mortality and morbidity rates following
thoracic surgery due to lung cancer. Since such a project could not be finalized in just a month, my
work was mostly in the surgery room. My tutor was a young, dynamic, fun person who just finished
his residency. I can tell you that he enabled me to feel the amiability of Italian people from the first
day on. (A kind of intimacy you feel when you see the doctor that you performed a surgery with in
the morning partying next to you in the evening)
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I don’t think it would be a lie if I told you that I didn’t have a problem concerning the visa situation.
As there are a lot of interesting places and cities to see one likes to visit when in Italy, I had planned
out a tour of Italy 7-8 days prior to my project. However, since the authorities in the consulate only
give 30 work day long visas, I had to cut my project short.
I spent a lot of time researching the easiest and cheapest way of transportation to Palermo and I can
tell you that flying through Rome is the one that made most sense to me. However, flying from
Turkey directly to Palermo (or Sicily) with a connected flight does not appear to be a smart choice, as
Alitalia becomes the only option, and an expensive one indeed. Instead, my suggestion would be to
purchase the flights to Rome and Palermo independently. Although having to carry your luggage
around twice can cause unpleasant situations, I can easily tell you that this is more budget-friendly.
City and Country
I think I can tell you that I visited all over Italy that year. Needless to say, it was excessively
impressive. Focusing on my opinions of Palermo, I went to a city not that different from Istanbul.
Rather than its metropolitan nature, its complexity was far more intense than the northern regions of
Italy. It is not the cleanest city in the world, I can tell you that much. In addition, Palermo is a city
where the temperatures are high and the air is humid in summer months and you can experience the
Mediterranean climate to its fullest. It is actually kind of a big city. It seems to be the regional capital
of Sicily. One aspect of Palermo that I would like to mention before it slips my mind is that it is kind of
a dangerous place. Even though I haven’t experienced anything unfortunate one of my Turkish
friends had a miscommunication with the OC and found himself the victim of a small theft while
trying to find his way through the city in the middle of the night without internet connection. During
the very first hour of his first day for that matter… In conclusion, we should listen to what the OC has
to say, as usual

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Kampüs içerisindeki yurtta kalıyorduk. Şehir merkezine çok yakın olduğunu söyleyememekle birlikte
uzak diyemem sanırım. 20 dakikalık bir yürüyüşle merkez tren istasyonuna ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Genelde
odalar 2 kişilik ( sağ ve solda küçük odalar ve ortalarında bir ortak kullanım alanı) tek kişilik olanlar da
var tabi. Erken gitmiş olmam sebebiyle ben tek kalmıştım. Yalnız kötü olan tarafı odalarda maalesef
buzdolabı veya klima yok. Dolayısıyla yemek ve sıcaklık konusunda elden pek bir şey gelmiyor. Fark
ettiyseniz odada tuvaletten de bahsetmedim çünkü yok. Ortak kullanım alanlarında her katta iki ya da
üç adet her birinde üç tuvalet ve duşakabin olmak üzere tuvaletler bulunuyor. Temizlik konusunda
sıkıntı yaşadığımı söyleyemeyeceğim zira her gün temizlendiklerini kendim gördüm.
Sosyal program ve organizasyon komitesi adına maalesef söyleyecek çok bir şeyim yok. Çünkü
harikalardı! Kötü olabilecek tek yönü fix bir sosyal program sunmaları. Yani ücretini verip ( 120 Euro)
ya tamamen katılıyorsunuz ya da katılmıyorsunuz. Sosyal program açısından oldukça zengin bir liste
vardı diyebilirim önümde. Üç farklı şehir turu, her hafta üç tane parti, okul dışında olan partilere
ulaşım imkanı, okul içindeki partilerde içecekler ( hiç kimse içecek bir şey bulamadığından şikayet
etmiyordu) dahildi. Ayrıca öğlen yemeklerini de yakındaki bir yemekhaneden hafta içi her gün
ücretsiz olarak yiyebiliyordunuz. Gayet başarılı bir yer ve tercihti bence.
Hayatımın en güzel bir ayını geçirmiş olabileceğimi düşünüyorum Palermo’da. Oldukça karışık,
fazlasıyla kalabalık ve eğlenceli bir gruptuk zira. Yaklaşık 80 incomingdik ve 20-25 adet contact person
sürekli ulaşabileceğimiz durumdalardı.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Aklımda kalanlar… Aslında oldukça uzun bir liste sanırım bu. Stajımın ilk günü girdiğim ilk göğüs
cerrahisi ameliyatı sıkıcıydı ama tıbbi bir giriş yapmam gerekiyor gibi hissediyorum. Daha sonrasında
Mondello( sahil) da umarsızca yatıp güneşlenmem ve yanımdan sürekli ‘ Aqua, Coca , Birra ‘
üçlemesini bağırarak satmaya çalışan insanlar da unutulmayacak anlarımdan tıpkı Ferragosto gecesi
sahilde yaptığımız mangal ve sabah güneşin doğuşunu izlemek gibi. Sosyal program içerisinde yer alan
hazine avı da orda geçen ayım içerisinde en aktif ve sportif zamanımdı diyebilirim. Zira baştan aşağı
bütün kampüsü koşup ipuçları ve oyunlarla(ki oldukça yaratıcı oyunlardı ) bir sonraki hedefe
gitmeye çalışmamız sonunda oldukça yorucu bir hal almıştı. Özel kokteylleriyle Palermo’ya ün salmış
bara gidip kötü bir şakayla karışık da olsa en iddialı shotu içmem de elbette o gece anahtarımın
kaybetmiş olmam arasındaki bağlantı biraz kopuk olsa da unutamadığım zamanlardan. Uluslararası
poker gecesinde 25 kişi arasından şansın da yardım etmesiyle 3. oluşum da yadsınamayacak bir
heyecan ve adrenalinli bir gece geçirmeme neden olmuştu. Bütün ay boyunca İtalyanların hazırlamak
ve içirmekten bıkmadığı Sambuca ( nasıl hazırlandığı ve içirildiği konusunu lütfen bilen birine
sorunuz… ) nın intikamını national food and drink party de rakı ile aldığım zaman da oldukça eğlenceli
ve özel bir andı. En unutamadığım gece ise son gecemde yapılan Toga partisi ve uğurlanma
merasimim. İlk ayrılan olmanın verdiği üzüntüyle birlikte yine de geçirilmiş çok özel bir gündü.
Hepsinin en özeli de inanılmaz insanlarla tanışmış olmam. Geçen iki seneye rağmen hala konuştuğum
hatta görüştüğüm harika insanlar. Sadece 3 hafta beraber geçirmiş olmamıza rağmen etkilerini
hayatımda kolayca unutamayacağım.
Önerileriniz
İtalya’yı kazananlara daha önceden bütünüyle yaşamış birisi olarak Sicilya’yı özellikle de Palermo’yu
tercihleri arasında tutmalarını öneriyorum. Küçük kuzey şehirlerinde çok ama çok daha küçük
gruplarla ve sosyal programın belirsizliğiyle uğraşmak yerine, Roma’yı yazıp kendinizle bile bile lades
olacağınıza Palermo’yu elinizin altında bulundurun derim.

Stay and Social Programme
We were staying in the dorms inside the campus. It was not that close to the city center, but it would
be wrong to tell you that it was far. The central train station is a 20 minute walk from the dorms. The
rooms are generally for 2 people, but there are single person rooms as well. As I arrived earlier than
the rest, I stayed in a single person room. A downside was that the rooms didn’t have refrigerators or
air conditioning. So there was not much to be done about the temperature and the food. If you’ve
noticed, I haven’t mentioned a toilet in the room as well, since there is none. In the common area of
each floor there are two or three bathrooms with 3 toilets and showers. There is no way I could
complain about the cleanness as I myself have seen them get cleaned every day.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much to say about the organization committee and the social program.
Because they were amazing! The only aspect that could be perceived as a shortcoming could be the
fact that they offer a fixed social program. Meaning, after you pay the fee, 120 Euros, you either join
all or none of it. The social program in hand was a rich one. Three different city tours, three parties
each week, means of transportation to parties outside the school, the drinks in parties inside the
school were included. In addition, lunch was available for free at a nearby cafeteria every week day.
It was a great place and a great choice in my opinion.
I think I may have spent the best month of my life in Palermo. We were a highly complex and
extremely crowded group, a group with which it was fun to spend time with no less. We were about
80 incomings with 20 to 25 contact persons which were reachable at any given time.
Highlights and Memories
The highlights of my exchange… This would actually be a very long list I guess. The first thoracic
surgery operation of my first day of my clerkship was quite boring but I feel like I have to start off
with something concerning the medical aspects of my time in Italy. Furthermore, lying and
sunbathing in Mondello(beach) without a care in the world while there were constantly people trying
to sell the ‘Aqua, Coca, Birra’ trio by yelling is an unforgettable moment like the barbecue in
Ferragosto night in which we watched the sun come up. The scavenger hunt in the social program
was one of my most active and sportive moments during my time there. It became more and more
tiring as we ran up and down the campus to reach the next destination according to the games
(which were very creative) and clues provided. Even though the connection between me losing my
key that night and drinking the most talked about shot, as part of a bad joke, in a bar famous for its
cocktails in Palermo is kind of missing, it is one of those unforgettable times. Coming in 3 rd out of 25
people in the international poker night with a little luck brought me excitement and adrenaline of
undeniable proportions. It was a very special moment when I avenged Sambuca( please consult
someone with information on how it’s made and how it’s being forced to be drunken), a drink which
the Italians did not give up preparing or making us drink for a whole month, with Rakı during the
National Food and Drink Party. The most unforgettable night was the Toga party and my farewell
ceremony during my last day there. Even with the sorrow of being the first to leave, it was a very
special day.The most special part of my journey was all the incredible people I met. There are
amazing people that I still talk to and even see despite the passing of 2 years. Even though we have
only spent 3 weeks together it won’t be easy to forget their effects on my life.
Advices
As a person who has experienced Italy fully, I recommend exchange students going to Italy to choose
Sicily, and Palermo in particular. Instead of dealing with the uncertainty of the social program with
much much smaller groups in smaller northern cities or choosing Rome to knowingly get rejected, I
recommend you to keep Palermo in mind.

Projemi Hokkaido Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Nörobiyoloji
laboratuvarında gerçekleştirdim. Gittiğim ilk gün tutorum ve laboratuvar ekibiyle tanıştım. Hepsi
birbirinden iyi kalpli insanlardı. İlk gün tutorum bana aletleri kullanmayı ve deneyi gerçekleştirmek
için gereken şeyleri anlattı. Laboratuvardaki aletleri tanıttı. Ringer solüsyonu hazırlamayı öğretti.
Kendi yürütmekte olduğu projeler hakkında bilgi verdi.Laboratuvarda bana ayrılmış bir köşe ve benim
çalışabileceğim bir büyük mikroskop vardı. Çok konforluydu. Aynı zamanda hesaplamalarımı yapıp
tabloları ortaya çıkartabilmem için de kullanabileceğim bir bilgisayarım vardı. Her gün bana 4 adet
fare hipokampusundan alınmış kesit veriyorlardı. Elektrotlarımı kendim hazırlıyordum ve bu
elektrotları kullanarak kesitler üzerinde deneyi gerçekleştiriyordum.Tutorum ve onun asistanları da
bana çok yardımcı oldu. Aynı zamanda laboratuvarda çalışan diğer öğrencilerle de çok iyi anlaştım.
Laboratuvar çıkışı bazen birşeyler yapıyorduk. Hatta hepsi topluca beni bir akşam birşeyler içmeye
dışarı çıkardı yine ben döneceğim zaman bana hediye almışlar, hep beraber yemek yemeye gittik.
Anlayacağınız ekip çok iyidi. Projem bana çok şey kattı. Gerçekten çok şey öğrendim. Şu an çoğu tıp
fakültesi öğrencisinin daha önce denemediği deneyler içerisinde bulunduğum için kendimi çok şanslı
hissediyorum. Kesinlikle öneririm projemi ve okulumu.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Japonya vize istemiyor Türk Vatandaşlarına. Ben giderken CA (Card of Acceptance’ım) geç geldiği için
uçak biletleri THY’de çok pahalıydı ben alırken. Şubat ayında 1500 TL olan biletler CA’imin geldiği
Nisan ayında 4500 TL olmuştu. O nedenle ben de biletimi Luftahansa’dan aldım. 2500 TL verdim.
Ankara’dan Münih’e gittim oradan Tokyo’ya oradan da Sapporo’ya gittim. Size tavsiyem kendi
şehrinizden gündüz çıkışlı bir sefer alın ve oraya varana kadar uçata uyumayın. Film izleyin vs :D oraya
vardığınızda zaten gündüz olacak. Eğer Japonya saatiyle akşam olduğunda uyursanız ilk defa jetlag
yaşamıyorsunuz.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Gittiğim şehir çok güzeldi. Sapporo Hokkaido bölgesinin başkenti. O nedenle o adadaki en gelişmiş
şehir. Gezecek çok yer var şehirde. Tabi ki bir Tokyo değil ama her gün gezecek yeni yerler
bulabiliyorsunuz. Metro istasyonu ve oradaki JR Tower’in üst katlarından şehri kesinlikle izlemelisiniz.
Mükemmel bir görüntü var ve kulağınıza taktığınız müzikle birlikte cam kenarında oturup alttan giden
arabaları ve şehrin ışıklarını izlemek paha biçilemez. Sapporo’nun birası meşhur o nedenle kesinlikle
bira fabrikasına gidip bira test etmelisiniz. Ulaşım biraz pahalı o nedenle bol bol yürümek gerekiyor.
Zaten JR Tower yüksek olduğu için çevre bölgelerden rahat görünüyor kaybolmak zor. Ama
telefonunuza hat takamadığınız için elinize bir harita yada Googlemaps çıktısı almak her zaman
faydalı kaybolmamak için. Şehirde herkes bisiklete biniyor. O nedenle kaldırımlarda dikkatli yürüyün.

Research Project
My project was titled “Observing Long Term Potentiation in Mice Hippocampus”. I worked on this
project in Hokkaido University Faculty of Medicines Neurology laboratory. The first day I was there I
met my tutor and the lab crew. Each person there was more kind hearted than the other. My tutor
explained to me how the tools should be used and the requirements for the experiment. He
introduced me to the tools in the lab, taught me how to prepare a Ringer solution and informed me
about his ongoing projects. I had a corner of my own and a big microscope to work with in the
laboratory. It was comfortable and luxurious. I also had a computer to do some calculations and
present them in tables. They would give me 4 mice hippocampus sections each day. I would prepare
my own electrodes and experiment on the sections using my electrodes.
My tutor and his assistants helped me a lot. I got along quite well with the other students working in
the laboratory. We sometimes went out after our work in the lab was done. They took me out to
have drinks one evening and they bought me a present when I was going back home, we all went to
dinner. As you can see, the crew was really good. My project enriched me in many ways. I really
learned a lot. I feel lucky to be involved in experiments that many medical students haven’t tried yet.
I would definitely recommend both my school and my project.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
Japan doesn’t ask for a visa from Turkish citizens. Due to my CAs(Card of Acceptance) late arrival, the
THY(Turkish Airlines) plane tickets were really expensive when I bought mine. The plane tickets that
were 1500 TL in February were suddenly 4500 TL in April when my CA arrived. So I bought my ticket
from Lufthansa for 2500 TL. I went from Ankara to Munich and then from Tokyo to Sapporo. My
advice to you is to get on a flight that leaves the city in the morning and to not sleep until you arrive,
watch a movie or something :D It will be daytime when you get there anyway. If you sleep when it is
nighttime in Japan, you don’t have a jetlag for the first time.
City and Country
The city I went to was really beautiful. Sapporo is the capital of the Hokkaido region, hence the most
developed city in that island. There are a lot of places to see in the city. Of course it’s not Tokyo but
you can find new places to see every day. You absolutely have to watch over the city from the metro
station and from one of the higher floors on JR Tower. There is an amazing view and with the music
you put in your ears watching the cars go by and the city lights by the window is priceless.
Sapporo is famous for its beer so you have to go to the beer factory and try the beer. Transportation
is quite expensive so you have to walk a lot. The height of JR Tower allows it to be easily seen from
the surrounding areas, making it harder to get lost. But it is always useful to have a map or a Google
maps printout in your hand to not get lost, as you can’t have connection on your phone.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Ben aile yanında konakladım ve iyi ki öyleymiş diyorum. Ev iki katlıydı ve bana bir oda verdiler.
Normalde Japonlar yer yatağında yatıyorlar ancak bana normal yatak bile almışlardı. Aile çok
canlısıydı. Beni birçok yere götürdüler. Sabah ve akşamları evde yemek piştiği için çok rahat ettim.
Harcamalarımı kısmamda çok yardımcı oldu bu durum. Ancak evde wifi yoktu o nedenle telefonumu
internete bağlayamadım ancak sonra laboratuvar arkadaşım bana bir alet verdi o sayede sorunu
çözdüm. Bu nedenle giderken yanınızda minik modemlerden almanızı öneririm evde wifi yoksa
Türkiye’yle haberleşmek çok zor oluyor.Contact Person’ım çok iyi biriydi. Beni havaalanından
karşıladı. Sapporo’da şehre yakın bir havaalanı yok o nedenle bir tren yolculuğu yapmanız gerekiyor
yaklaşık 45 dakikalık. O yolu gelip beni karşıladı. Beni sushi yemeye götürdü ve Otaru’ya beraber
gittik. Ancak arada sınavları olduğu için bir dönem yalnız kaldım. Onun dışında herşey çok iyiydi.
Sosyal Program çok başarılı değildi. Şehirdeki tek öğrenci bendim. O nedenle hep yalnız gezmek
zorundaydım. Değişimimde tek zorlandığım nokta buydu diyebilirim. Her yere kulaklıklarımı takıp tek
başıma gidiyordum. National Tur benim orda olduğum dönemde düzenlenmedi. Sadece ben
dönmeden önceki gün komşu şehirlerdeki öğrenciler bizim şehre geldi ve hep beraber şehri
gezmiştik.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişimden aklımda kalan en güzel şey özellikle Japonların iyi kalpliliği ve kibarlığıydı. Hepsi
birbirinden iyi insanlardı. Ancak çok düzenliler ve düzene çok önem veriyorlar. Ona dikkat edilmesi
gerekli. Anılarımdan birini yazamam gerekirse Japonların yardımseverliğini anlatan şu anımı seçeyim.
Bir gün Tokyo’da gezerken bir yeri bulamadım. Elimde telefon haritadan baka baka GPSi kullanarak
aramaya başladım ama bir türlü bulamadım. Sokakta bir adet aşçı gördüm. Çalıştığı restorandan hava
almak için dışarı çıkmıştı. Ona sordum mekanın yerini, baktı, anlamayınca telefon numarasından
arayayım mı dedi bana. Ben de telefonumun çalışmadığını anlatmaya çalıştım yarı İngilizce yarı beden
diliyle. Anlayınca hemen kendi telefonunu çıkardı önce mekanı aradı. Ulaşamayınca kendi
telefonundan googlemaps e girip mekanın yerini buldu. Düştü önüme beni götürmeye başladı. Ama
gittiğimiz noktada da aradığımız yer yoktu. O zaman bir dükkana girdi. Durumu anlattı. Dükkandaki
herke harita açıp benim mekanı aramaya başladılar. Ben de ağzım açık bir şekilde olanları izliyordum.
Sonra bir yerde karar kıldılar. Sonra biz tekrar yollara düştük. Gittiğimizde mekanın kapalı olduğunu
gördük. Bana yol gösteren sevgili rehberim  benden çok üzüldü. Sonra çok teşekkür ettim ne demek
deyip tekrar çalıştığı restorana döndü  Ben bu kadar iyi kalpli bir toplum daha önce görmedim :D
Değişimim çok güzel geçti.
Önerileriniz
Az önce de belirttiğim gibi tek başımaydım bütün ay boyunca o beni zorladı biraz o nedenle size
önerim kesinlikle yanınızda kulaklığınız olmadan gitmeyin. Deneyler de uzun sürdüğü için kitap
okuyordum. Kitabım bitince biraz zorlandım o nedenle yanınızda birkaç kitap da götürebilirsiniz. Yada
izleyecek bir dizi listesi :D İyi eğlenceler 

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed with a family and I am really glad about it. The house had two floors and they gave me a
room. Normally, the Japanese sleep on futons on the floor but they bought me a regular bed. The
family was really friendly. They took me to see many places in the city. The fact that both breakfast
and dinner were being served in the house made my life a lot easier. It really helped me minimize my
expenses. However, the house didn’t have wifi so I didn’t have internet connection until my friend
from the lab gave me a device to solve this problem. Hence I advise you to bring a small router with
you as it becomes really hard to communicate with Turkey if the house doesn’t have wifi. I will give 5
stars to my host family.
My CP was a really nice person. He was waiting for me at the airport when I got there. There isn’t an
airport nearby Sapporo so you have to take the train which will take you there in about 45 minutes.
He made that trip to greet me. He took me out to eat sushi and we went to Otaru together. But he
had exams some time during my exchange period and I was alone during that time. Everything was
perfect beside that. I will give 5 stars to my CP. The social program was not really satisfactory. I was
the only student in the city. So I always had to walk around the city by myself. The only challenging
aspect of my exchange was this I guess. I would put my earphones in and go everywhere by myself,
due to this I will give 3 points to the social program. The National Tour didn’t take place during the
time I was there. The day before my return students from neighboring cities came to visit and we
toured the city together.
Highlights and Memories
The most beautiful thing left in my mind about my exchange is the kindheartedness and kindness of
the Japanese people in particular. They are all really good people. However they are really organized
and the order of things is of high importance to them. You should be careful about that. If I have to
write one of my memories, I am going to choose this one which is a great example of how kind
Japanese people are. One day when I was walking around in Tokyo, I wasn’t able to find a place. My
phone in my hand, I started looking for the place by examining the map in my hand while using GPS
but I was somehow still unable to find it. I saw a chef on the street. He went out the restaurant that
he was working in to get some air. I asked him where that place was, he looked at me and asked me
if he should call the phone number when he couldn’t understand me. I tried to tell him that my
phone wasn’t working with my body language as well as in English. He took out his phone and called
the place as soon as he understood me. When he couldn’t reach them he opened Google maps and
found out where the place was located. He started walking to take me there. But when we reached
our destination we realized that the place I was looking for wasn’t there. He went into a store, told
them about the situation. Everyone there opened a map and started looking for the place.
Meanwhile, I was watching with amazement. They finally decided on a place and we hit the roads
again. When we got there, we saw that the place was closed. My dear guide that led the way was
more upset than I was. I thanked him very much he said that it was no problem and went back to the
restaurant that he was working in I have never seen such a kind hearted society before :D My
exchange was great!!
Advices
As I have mentioned before I was alone the whole time and that was quite challenging so I advise you
to definitely bring you earphones with you. I would read books as the experiments would take too
long. It was quite hard for me when I finished my book so you could bring a few books with you, or a
list of TV shows to watch :D

Bizim
devlet
hastanelerimiz gibi olmasa da oldukça yoğun
hastaneleri var ve günde en az 4-5 ameliyat
oluyordu (benim hocamın). Gayet sıcakkanlı
öğrenci dostu bir hocamız vardı. O bölümde 2
kişi çalışıyorduk ve her ameliyata birimiz steril
olup girme şansı bulduk ve dikiş atma, ekartör ve
aspiratörü tutma gibi asistanlık işlerini de biz
yaptık. Bundan dolayı, özellikle cerrahi
düşünenler için bol bol pratik yapma imkanının olacağı bir yer.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yeşil pasaportum olduğu için ben vizesiz gittim. O yüzden maalesef vize işlemleriyle ilgili bir bilgim
yok. Şehir Barcelona olduğu için uçakla direk merkezdeki havalalanına ulaşılabiliyor. CP’lerimiz bizi
havaalanından karşılayıp arabayla evimize ulaştırmıştı. Ancak toplu taşımayla da 45 dakika ile 1 saat
arası bir yolculukla ulaşmak mümkün.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Şehir 5 üzerinden 10 tabiki de :D :D 15 dakikada yüzülebilir bir denize ulaşabiliyor olmak
muhteşem bir duygu. Tarihi yerleri, barları, sahilleri ve özellikle benim gibi sporla aşırı ilgili
olanlar için Camp Nou ölmeden önce herkesin görmesi gereken yerler. Ama sokakların biraz
pis olduğunu söyleyebilirim.

Research Project
I was assigned to the department of orthopedics and I was
in the operating room every day. Even though it can’t be
compared to our state hospitals, the hospitals there are
very busy and my tutor had at least 4-5 operations a day.
We had a very amiable and student friendly tutor. There
were two of us at that department as part of this exchange
program and each operation was a chance for one of us to
get sterile and participate, we worked like assistants by stitching the patient up and holding the
retractor or the aspirator. Bearing this in mind, it is a place that offers a lot of opportunities to
practice, especially for those of you who are considering a career in surgery.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I didn’t need a visa since I had a green passport. So unfortunately I don’t have information on visa
procedures. As the city we are talking about is Barcelona the central airport is reachable by plane.
Our CPs picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at our house with their car, but it should take
between 45 minutes and 1 hour to reach it by means of public transport.
City and Country
The city would get 10 stars out of 5, for sure :D:D It is an amazing feeling to be able to reach a sea
which you can swim in, in just 15 minutes. Its historic places, bars, beaches and especially Camp Nou
for people keen on sports like me are places a person should see before he/she dies. However, I can
tell you that the streets are a bit filthy.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Katalonya organizasyonunun exchange öğrencileri için kullandığı 3 evden birinde kaldık. Maalesef
biim kaldığımız en kötüsüydü. 20-25 öğrencinin bir arada kaldığı bir daireydi. Bu yüzden ciddi bir
temizlik sorunu yaşadık. CP’ler de havaalanından bizi eve getirmek ve evden ilk gün hastaneye
götürüp hocayla tanıştırmak dışında hiçbirşey yapmadılar. Sistemleri böyle işliyor.
Bütün ay elimdeki kitaptan heryeri bulup gezmeye çalıştım ama daha iyi olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
Sanırım bu şehirde exchange e gitmenin tek kötü tarafı organizasonun çok yetersiz olması. National
tour zaten yoktu. Onun için de ben arkadaşımla biletlerimi alıp haftasonları Madrid, Valencia, Girona,
Figueres gibi şehirleri gezdim.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişime genel olarak 5 üzerinden 4 verirdim. 1 puanı da organizasyon yüzünden kırıyorum yoksa
herşey mükemmeldi  Futbol aşığı olduğum için aklımda kalan en önemli şey Camp Nou’da maç
izlemekti. Deniz ürünleriyle pek arası iyi olmayan biri olmama rağmen hayran kaldığım yemekler ve
sangria başta olmak üzere içkiler mükemmeldi.
Önerileriniz
Bir tane gezi rehberi edinin, mutlaka Katalonya’nın diğer şehirlerini ve kasabalarını (Montserrat,
Girona, Figueres, Sitges,Tarragona) görmeye gidin, öğrenci kartınızı sakın unutmayın çünkü diğer
şehirlerdekiler dahil yaklaşık 15 müzeyi gezme imkanım oldu ve 11-12 tanesi öğrenci kartıyla
ücretsizdi, kalanları da indirimliydi. Tabi kartınız sırf Türkçe ise kabul etmiyorlar herhangi bir yerinde
Student yazması lazım. Temizlik takıntınız çok varsa kendinizi hazırlayın. Oveja Negra isimli barı bulup
Panter Sütü denen içkiyi için. Önce normalini denedikten sonra çilekli ve tarçınlı versiyonu olan
Pembe Panter sütünü deneyin, kesinlikle bağımlılık yapacaktır.
Eksik gördüğüm şeyler de üstte belirttiğim gibi organizasyonun her yönüyle aksaması. Ama orada
büyük bir arkadaş grubuyla beraber olduğunuz için şehrin keyfini çıkarabiliyorsunuz ve
organizasyonun kötü olmasının size aslında pek bir etkisi olmuyor.

Stay and Social Programme
We stayed at one of three houses which the Catalonia organization team used for exchange
students. Unfortunately, ours was the worst among them. It was an apartment which 20-25 students
were staying in. That is why we had a serious problem with cleaning. Our CPs didn’t do much except
pick us up from the airport to bring home and take us to the hospital to introduce us to our tutors
the first day. This is how their systems works. I tried to find the places to see with the help of the
book in my hand for a whole month but I can tell you that it made the experience much more
enjoyable. I think the only downside of going to an exchange program in this city is the poor quality
of the organization. There was no national tour to speak of. So I bought some tickets with my friend
and visited cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Girona and Figueres during the weekends.
Highlights and Memories
I would give 4 points out of 5 to the overall exchange process. That missing 1 point is because of the
quality of the organization, everything was perfect except that As I am a football lover, the most
important thing left in my mind is watching a game in Camp Nou. Even though I don’t quite like sea
food, the drinks, Sangria in particular, and the dishes that I grew fond of were perfect.
Advices
Get a tour guide, you absolutely have to go visit other cities and towns of Catalonia like Montserrat,
Girona, Figueres, Sitges and Tarragona, don’t forget to bring your student identification along with
you; I had the opportunity to visit approximately 15 museums including the ones in other cities, and
11-12 of them were free with a student id and the others offered a discount. Of course your card
won’t be accepted if it is completely in Turkish, there has to at least be the word “student” on the
card. If you have an obsession about cleanliness, brace yourself. Find the bar named Oveja Negra and
drink what is called a Panthers Milk. After trying out the regular one, try the strawberry and
cinnamon version –the Panther’s Pink Milk, it will definitely lead to an addiction.
The shortcomings were, as I mentioned earlie, the weakness of the organization. However, as you
are there with a large group of friends you are able to enjoy the city and the fact that the
organization is bad doesn’t really affect you.

biyofizik departmaninda yapacağımı ogrendim ve
doğrusunu soylemek gerekirse yıkıldım. Ama kesinlikle şunu soylemek istiyorum önyargılı olmayin.
Biyofiziği hiç istemeyerek gitsem de departmanda oldugum surece çok eğlendim ve iyi zaman
geçirdim.
Genel olarak yaptığım şeyleri özetlemek gerekirse makale okumak, CPR ve elektroforez yapmaktan
ibaretti diyebilirim ama yine de memnun kaldım. Özellikle preklinik öğrencilerin kesinlikle scoreyle
araştırma değişimine gitmesini öneririm. Ayrıca hastayla değil de öğretim üyeleriyle muhatap
olduğunuz için dil problem olmuyor. Benim departmanımdakilerin İngilizcesi gayet iyiydi.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yesil pasaportum olduğu için vizeye ihtiyacım yoktu, giriş çıkışta herhangi bir sorun yaşamadım. Uçuş
yaklaşık 2 saat sürüyor, sanırım istanbul’dan sadece budapeşte’ye direk uçuş var. Ülke içinde genelde
trenle ulaşım sağlanıyor, oldukça dakik.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Budapeşte gerçekten güzel ve sakin bir şehir. Nüfusu sanırım 2 milyon kadardı, istanbul’dan giden
arkadaslar için oldukça boş gelecektir. Özellikle pazarları en turistik yerler bile çok sakin ve sessiz.
Ama gerçekten görmeye doyulamayacak güzellikte bir mimariye
sahip. Tuna’nın şehri ortadan ikiye ayırmasıyla İstanbulu andırmıyor değil minyatürü gibi :D

I actually chose a project about physiology and got
an e-mail of acceptance. I was really happy about it
until I learned that my project will be in biophysics
department one week before the exchange. But
don’t be prejudiced! Even if I didn’t want to be in
biophysics department, I had so much fun in there.
We read articles, performed CPR and
electrophoresis. Especially I recommend research
exchange to pre-clinical students. You will not have
any communication problem because you will be
working with professors not with patients.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I have a special passport so I didn’t need any visa. There are directs flights to Budapest from Istanbul.
It lasts 2 hours approximately. For domestic transportation, you can use trains.
City and Country
Budapest is really beautiful and calm. It has a population of 2 million people, It will be like empty for
people from Istanbul. Especially on sundays even touristic parts of the city are really quiet. It has an
architecture like a feast for eyes. It resembles a miniature Istanbul with Danube River crossing the
city.

Konaklama konusunda beklentilerinizi 0'a indirgeyip öyle gitmenizi öneririm. Biz bir aylık staj süresinc
e iki yurt değiştirdik ve ikisinin de birbirinden pek bi farkı olduğunu söyleyemem. Ama şu kadarını soyl
iyeyim, kapısız duş kabinleri görüp duş alabilmek için bütün katın banyosunu kilitlemek durumunda k
alabilirsiniz.
Yurt dışında CPlik ve sosyal program açısından gerçekten çok ilgili bir yereldi. Ancak cplerimiz hepimiz
e atanmış kişiler değildi o günkü programda kimler gorevliyse onlarla iletişim kurmamız gerekti ama
dedigim gibi gayet ilgili ve cana yakindilar. Bir ay boyunca neredeyse her akşam toplu etkinliklerimiz o
ldu ve gayet iyi planlanmışlardı.
National tours kapsamında Balaton Lake ve Viyanaya gittik. Iki etkinligi de oneririm hatta ayarlayabili
rseniz Prag'a da kendi çabalarınızla gidin ya da cplerinize zamanında soylerseniz ayarlamak için ellerin
den geleni yaparlar eminim.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişimin bence en güzel yanı sabah erkenden uyanıp stajına gidip orda mesaini doldurup bir yandan
o şehirde yaşıyor gibi hissederken diğer yandan öğleden sonralarında dertsiz tasasız tam bir turist gibi
gezebilmekti.

Stay and Social Programme
I suggest you to reduce your expectations about accomodation to zero. We changed the dorms two
times in one month and I can say they were pretty much the same. You may have to lock the door of
the whole bathroom because there are no doors for showers.
Social program and CPs were really good. But CPs were not constant. We had to talk with the CP for
that day if we needed but they were all caring and friendly. Almost every night we had something
planned for us.
We went to the Lake Balaton and Vienna with the national tours. I recommend you to attend both of
them. If you can, Go to Prag or if you tell your cps before, I am sure they’ll do what they can to
arrange it.
Highlights and Memories
The best thing about the exchange for me, is waking up early for your project and feel like you’re
living in that city; and after, being like a tourist, without stress. :)
Advices
At weekends, markets close really early. I had a lot of problems about that. Try to shop earlier during
the day. You even may have problems about finding a place for dinner after 8 P.M.

İç hastalıkları servisinde her gün tüm asistanlarla beraber
vizit yaptıktan sonra ilginç vakaları tartıştık. Türkiye’den bir
arkadaşımla gittiğimiz ve İspanyolca bilmediğimiz için
İngilizce bilen bir asistanı bizimle ilgilenmesi için görevlendirdiler ve o asistan tüm hastaları İngilizce
bize tanıttıktan hastalarla iletişimimizi hatta gerekli gördüğü yerlerde muayene yapmamızı
sağladıktan sonra bize o gün belirlediği özel bir konuyu tanı aşamasından tedavi aşamasına kadar
ayrıntılı olarak anlattı. Diğer bölümlerden doktorlarla tanışmamızı sağladı. Hatta tanıştırdığı kardiolog
bizi ameliyatlara aldı ve ameliyat sırasında bize İngilizce olarak neler yaptıklarını anlattı. Genel olarak
İngilizce bilmeyen bir toplum oldukları için özellikle İngilizce bilen hocalar, doktorlar bizimle
ilgilenmek için özel zaman ayırdılar diyebilirim. İngilizce bilmemeleri oldukça olumsuz etkilemesine
rağmen çok yardım sever insanlar oldukları için ben oldukça memnun kaldım.

Elektronik vize alınıyor ve internet ortamında birkaç dakika içinde vizeniz çıkmış oluyor ancak vizenizi
aldıktan 30 gün içinde ülkeye giriş yapmanız gerekmekte. Bu nedenle ben uçak biletimi son 30 gün
içinde almak zorunda kaldım.

Kendinize sürekli dikkat etmeniz gerek, tehlikeli ama bir grupla dolaştığınız için güvenli oluyor.
Toplumun büyük çoğunluğun yaşamı bizim hayat standartlarımızın biraz altında, ve hırsızlık ya da
cana kasteden olaylar pek çok olduğu söyleniyor ama ben hiç biriyle karşılaşmadım. Üstelik
şehirlerarası yolculuk yaparken daha dikkatli olunması gerektiği söyleniyor ama 5 hafta kaldım ve
kaldığım her haftasonu başka bir şehir gezdim haftaiçleri de bazen yakındaki küçük kasaba tarzı
yerlere gittim. Herhangi bir sıkıntım da olmadı. Tabi tüm gezilerimi grupla beraber yaptım onun da
etkisi olabilir. Ayrıca yakın teması seven bir toplum, ben en çok ondan rahatsız olmuştu ama kendi
kurallarını açıklarsan anlayışla karşılıyorlar. Çok sıcakkanlı çok sevecen insanlar bazı yönleriyle Türk
toplumuna benziyorlar. Ben pek çok yönden memnun kaldım. Bazı şeyler eksik kaldı daha vaktim
olsaydı da oraları gezebilseydim dedim ve muhtemelen ileriki dönemlerde bir defa daha gitmeyi
düşünüyorum. İklimine dikkat etmek gerekiyor. Kaldığım şehir Meksika’nın en yüksek yeri ve yaz kış
yağmurlu. Her gün bir yağmurlu bir güneş açan karışık bir durumdaydı. Mutlaka bir mont gerekiyor.
Bir de evlerinde ısıtma sistemi bulunmadığı için ev soğuk olduğunda ısıtacak herhangi bir şey yok.
Küçük bir şehir bir meydanı var 1 günde dolaşılabiliniyor. Ama etrafında gezebileceğiniz küçük küçük
yerleşim alanları pek çok.

Research Project
We would discuss interesting cases every day after doing rounds
with the assistants in the internal medicine ward. Since I went there with a friend from Turkey and
we didn’t know a word of Spanish they assigned an English speaking assistant to us. He would
introduce each patient, initiate conversation and enable us to examine the patient when he saw
necessary and then he would present the topic he had chosen for the day by describing the prognosis
from the diagnosis stage to the treatment stage in detail. He enabled us to meet doctors from other
departments. The cardiologist he introduced us to took us to surgeries and during these surgeries he
told us what they were doing in English. As they are a society that can’t speak English in general, the
English speaking professors, doctors in particular took the time to take care of us. Even though the
fact that they couldn’t speak English was a downside I was really satisfied as they were really helpful.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
The acquiring of the visa is an electronic process and in a matter of minutes, your visa is ready.
However, you have to enter the country in no more than 30 days after acquiring your visa. That is
why I had to purchase my plane ticket during the last 30 days.
City and Country
You have to watch out for yourself all the time, it is dangerous out there but as you walk around with
a group, it is safe. A big part of the society is living with lower life standards than ours and it is said
that theft and other life threatening events are not uncommon, but I have never been involved in
one. Moreover, it is told that more caution has to be exercised when travelling between cities while I
visited different cities every weekend and sometimes visited small town-like places nearby during
weekdays, I didn’t have any problems during my 5 weeks there. Of course, I was accompanied by a
group of people everywhere I went, that may have affected my situation as well. In addition, they are
a society that likes close contact that was what bothered me the most but if you explain your rules to
them you see that they are understanding people. They are really warm and loving people, in a lot of
ways they resemble Turkish people. I was really satisfied considering in many ways. Somethings still
remain missing and I only wish I had more time that would allow me to see those places, I will
probably be going there again. You have to bear in mind the climate, the place I was staying in was
located on the highest place in Mexico and it is rainy regardless of the season. The weather was a
mess every day, it would rain and then the sun would be shining in no time. You absolutely need a
coat. As they don’t have heating systems in their houses, there is nothing to keep the place warm
when the house is cold. There is a small city square that could be walked around in a day. But it is
surrounded by many small premises that could be visited.

CP’imin evinde konakladım ama grubu genelde tuttukları bir evde konaklattılar. Haftasonları bizim
istediğimiz üzerine başka şehirlere gezi düzenlendi. Normalde bir plan yapılmamıştı ve spontan gelişti
pek çok şey. Gece bazı zamanlarda partiler düzenlendi. Meksika’nın tüm güzel yemeklerini tatmamız
sağlandı.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Çok sıcakkanlı, sevecen, pek çok özellikleriyle Türklere benzeyen bir millet. Muhteşem yemekleri var
hepsini tatmalısınız. Benim anılarımın hepsi dans, yemek ve gezdiğimiz yerlerden oluşuyor.
Önerileriniz
İngilizce bilen doktorlar ayarlanmalı. Bizim ilk gün tek kelime İspanyolca bilmiyoruz dememiz üzerine
bulunan asistan biraz sıkıntı yaşamamıza neden olmuştu. Guadalajara çok güzelmiş ben gidemedim
ama mutlaka gidilmesi gereken bir yer.
Mexico city’de kalırsanız diğer şehirleri çok gezemeyebilirsiniz ben küçük şehirleri çok gezdim,
piramitlere mutlaka gidin. Benim gezdiğim yerler toluca, mexico city, tehuacan, metepec, taxco,
acapulco, malinalco, temoaya, michoacan. Hepsini tavsiye ediyorum.
Yanınıza güzel bir fotoğraf makinesi ve geniş bir hafızası olan flash bellek de almayı unutmayın.
Yemeklerin adlarını öğrenemedim maalesef ama sokakta patates kızartmalarıyla verilen tüm sosları
deneyin. İçki seviyorsanız harika çeşitler var.

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed at my CPs house but most of the students stayed at a house that was rented for this
purpose. Trips to other cities would be arranged on the weekends according to our demands. There
wasn’t anything planned, most of it happened spontaneously. Some nights there would be parties.
They made sure we tasted every beautiful dish of Mexico.
Highlights and Memories
They are really warm and loving people resembling the Turkish in many ways. They have spectacular
dishes, you have to taste them all. My memories are made up of dancing, eating and the places I
have seen.
Advices
English speaking doctors should be arranged. After it was understood by the assistant that we didn’t
know a word of Spanish, we went through some trouble. I have heard that Guadalajara is a beautiful
place, I couldn’t go there but it is a place that has to be seen.
If you stay in Mexico City, you might not be able to visit other cities that much, I visited a lot of small
cities, definitely go see the pyramids. The places I went to are Toluca, Mexico City, Tehuacan,
Metepec, Taxco, Acapulco, Malinalco, Temoaya and Michoacan. I recommend all of them.
Don’t forget to take a good camera and a flash drive with large capacity with you. Unfortunately, I
couldn’t find out the names of the dishes but try every sauce that comes with French fries from the
street. If you like drinks, they have amazing ones to choose from.

Hastaneye ilk gün tanışma amaçlı gittik, yanımda
Taiwanlı bir arkadaş vardı. Her şey güzel
başlamıştı. Sonraki gün bir laboratuarda
biyokimya için birkaç tüp doldurduk ve bundan
sonra hastaneye sabah 9:30’da gelebileceğimizi
öğrenerek ayrılıyorduk ki Taiwanlı arkadaş ben
burayı sevmedim diye atara geldi. Öyle olunca
hocamız saat 8’i 1 geçe gelseniz beni bulamazsınız dedi. Tamam dedik. Üçüncü gün 08:03’te ordaydım
ve hoca gerçekten yoktu. Uyandığıma üzülerek yurda döndüm. Dördüncü gün ise yanlış otobüse binip
hastaneyi bulamadıktan sonra anladım ki sabahları uyuyacaktım. Öyle de yaptım.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Schengen Vizesi almak durumundasınız. Ben, Türkiye’den önce Berlin’e, Berlin’den de 3.5-4 saatlik bir
otobüs yolculuğuyla Wroclaw’a ulaşmıştım. Eğer sokak sanatlarına (grafiti vs.) biraz ilginiz varsa
kesinlikle Berlin’e de uğrayın! :)

Her şehir bir ruh barındırır içinde, ben buna inananlardanım. İşte o ruh sizin ruhunuzla kolaylıkla
sohbet edebilir Wroclaw’da. İnsanıyla, doğasıyla, her şeyiyle mükemmeldi!
Şehir genel olarak öğrenci şehri (Erasmus yapan Türk öğrenciler Türkiye’nin Eskişehir’i demişlerdi),
küçük ama eğlenceli, insanları sevecen, kendi old town’ı olan, doğal yapısını korumuş ve sanırım
Polonya’da 1 ay süreyle gidilebilecek en güzel şehir.

Research Project
First day with a Taiwanese friend, we went to the hospital
to meet our tutor. At the beginning it was all good. On the
day after, we just filled some tubes with something for the
biochemistry at the lab. We were just about to leave when we learned that we can go to the hospital
at 9.30 but my Taiwanese friend was kind of moody, saying “I didn’t like this place.” So the professor
said “ You can’t find me here even if you are one minute late for 8 A.M.” I was there at 8.03 the next
day and he really wasn’t there. I felt sorry for waking up early and went back to the dormitory. After
getting the wrong bus and failing in finding the hospital on the fourth day I figured out that I was
going to sleep in the mornings. So did I. :)
Visa, Travel and Arrival
You have to get a Schengen Visa. I arrived to Berlin first by a plane from Turkey and took a bus to
Wroclaw. (3,5-4 hours of journey) If you are interested in street art, you definitely see Berlin! :)
City and Country
I believe that every city has a soul. Wroclaw’s is an easygoing one. The nature of it, the people, all
was perfect.
Wroclaw is a student city. ( Like Eskişehir in Turkey) It is small but fun with warm people. I suppose it
is the best city in Poland for one month with it’s old town and preserved nature.
I give 4.5 Stars out of 5 to the city, I ate half of a star because i couldn’t find anything to eat.

Çok çılgın anılara tanıklık eden bir yurt odasında sevgili jokerim Kerem Şencan ile beraber konakladık.
3 kişilik odada 2 kişi kalmanın tadı halen damağımda. :)
CP’im ( Wojtek isminde bir arkadaştı, kendisine bir kez de buradan sevgiler. Kulakları çınlasın) son
derece ilgili, oldukça da iyi bir insandı. Sağ olsun ihtiyacımız olan her durumda her şeyle ilgilendi.
Krakow ve Varşova’da 2’şer güzel gün geçirmemize olanak sağlayan Krakow ve Varşova Ulusal
Turlarına katılma fırsatı buldum. Varşova her başkentte olduğu gibi gri ve duygusuz geldi bana. Ancak
Krakow “insan” olduğumuz gerçeğini bizlere hatırlatan çok ama çok güzel bir şehir. II. Dünya Savaşı’na
ve o dönemin yaşanmışlıklarına tanıklık etmek isteyen herkesin gitmesi gereken güzel şehir.
Gelelim sosyal programa… Polonya’da geçirdiğim ilk 3 günden sonra hayatım “yemek, içmek ve
partiye gitmek” döngüsü şeklinde özetlenebilir. Bu sebeple Club Mundo isimli Wroclaw’ın gözde
mekanı adeta ikinci evimiz gibiydi. :) Gittiğiniz her yerde çok ama çok güzel içeceklere çok ucuz ve
kolay bir şekilde ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Ve gene gittiğiniz bütün barlarda ya da clublarda sarhoş olana
kadar içebilirsiniz, kimseyi rahatsız etmediğiniz sürece insanlarla iletişim kurmanın en güzel
yollarından biri alkol seviyesini yükseltmek sanıyorum. :)
Hazır yeri gelmişken Polonya’ya gidecek herkese “fındıklı Soplica(bir çeşit vodka)” denemesini tavsiye
ederim. Ayrıca Wroclaw’a gidecek herkes benden Mundo’daki Dj ağabeylerimize selam söylesin
lütfen.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Anılarım, arkadaşlıklarım, her saniyesi birbirinden değerli geçirdiğim zaman, aklımda kalanlar… O yaza
dair ne varsa hepsi tek kelimeyle muhteşemdi. Şimdi aklıma geldiler istemsiz bir şekilde gülümsedim.

Eksik gördüğüm pek bir şey yoktu. Olsa da çok takacağımı sanmıyorum, ‘öğrenci’likte olur böyle

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed with my friend in a room which witnessed lots of crazy memories. I still miss staying in a
triple room w,th just one roommate.
My CP (Love from Turkey Wojtek!) was extremely caring and a good person. He was always there
when we needed something.
I had to chance to spend 2 days in Krakow and Warsaw with national tours. Warsaw is a typical
capital; gray and unsentimental. But Krakow is a very beautiful city, reminding us that we are
“humans”. Everyone who wants to feel the experience of the II. World War should see this beautiful
city.
And the social program… After the first 3 days in Poland I can summarize my life as “eating, drinking
and partying cycle.” Beacuse of this I can say that the popular club of Wroclaw, “Club Mundo”, was
like a second home to us. You can find really good, cheap drinks in everywhere. And again you can
drink until you get drunk in every club or bar. Unless you disturb someone, I suppose increasing the
alcohol level in your blood is one of the best ways yo communicate with people
I advice everyone who will go to Poland to try “Soplica Hazelnut.” And please say hi to the dj at
Mundo from me!
Highlights and Memories
Everything about that summer was amazing. I smile involuntarily when I remember something about
it and I always will. If I knew what to write I would but you should either go or listen. You can give me
a call anytime you want.
Advices
There was nothing negative about the exchange. I wouldn’t care even if there were some. We are
students after all.
If it’s possible, I think it is good to be in an exchange with someone whom you are already close with
or someone you can be close with after spending some time. I chose the second one, now I have
another brother.

SCORE ile farmakoloji üzerine bir projeye dahil oldum.
Hastanede, Tutor’ımın, hali hazırda yürütmekte olduğu
çalışmaları izlemek dışında hiçbir imkanım olmadı. Bu
çalışmalar sırasında Portekizce konuşulduğu için,
çalışmaların hiçbir yararı olmuyordu. Bazı günler tutor’ım
gelmemi istediği saatte orada olmak zahmetinde bulunmuyordu.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yeşil pasaportum olduğu için vize işlemi yapmadım. İstanbul’dan Lisbon’a uçakla, Lisbondan
Covilhã’ya trenle ulaştım.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Portekiz çok güzel bir ülke hem Avrupa hem Akdeniz kültüründen etkilenmiş endemik bir ortama
sahip. Portekizi seçerken Lisbon, Porto gibi şehirleri listeye yazdığım halde Covilhã adında ülkenin en
kuzeyinde bulunan yerlerinden birine gönderildim. Büyük bir dağın eteğine kurulmuş şehirde ulaşım
inanılmaz zordu, toplu taşıma çok seyrekti sabahları hastaneye ulaşmak için bir saate yakın yürümem
gerekiyordu. Proje dışı zamanlarda yapılacak hhiçbir etkinlik olmaması da ayrı bir zorluk
yaratmaktaydı.

Üniversitenin, bakımsız ve temizlenmeyen yurdunda kaldım. CP ilgisi makul düzeyde sayılırdı ama
yapacak bir aktivite olmadığı için onlar da zorlanıyorlardı. National Tour en eğlendiğim bölüm oldu
çünkü Portekizin iki büyük şehri olan Lisbon ve Porto’ya güzel geziler düzenlendi. Bu geziler iyi
düzenlenmiş ve güzel yerler ayarlanmıştı.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişim bana sadece iyi arkadaşlıklar ve güzel iki haftasonu gezisi (National Tour) sağlamış oldu ama
akademik anlamda bana hiçbir yararı olmadı ve sosyal programlar bittiği gibi değişimi erken bırakarak
geri döndüm.
Önerileriniz
Yapılan sınav başarısı sonucunda görmek istediği bir ülke ve şehri tercih eden öğrenci çok alakasız bir
yere gitmek zorunda bırakılınca büyük bir hayal kırıklığı oluyor. Bu yüzden bu sistemin bu şekilde
işlememesi gerektiğini düşünmekteyim. Gelmek isteyenler de yapabilceğim en önemli öneri
gidecekleri yerle ilgili detaylı bir araştırma yapmaları olacaktır.

I was involved in a project about pharmacology with
SCORE. At the hospital I did nothing except watch my
tutor work on his own studies. During these studies the spoken language was Portugese so I’ve
practically learned nothing. Sometimes my tutor didn’t show up at the time he had wanted me to be
at the hospital.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I have a special passport so I didn’t need any visa. I’ve travelled to Lisbon from İstanbul by a plane
and get to Covilhã by a train from Lisbon.
City and Country
Portugal is a very beautiful country which is affected by both Mediteranian and Europe cultures. I
was sent to a city called Covilhã which is situated in the northern part of the country even though my
choices was Porto or Lisbon. The city was situated at the foothills of a big mountain and the
transportation was extremely difficult. Public transportation was poor and I had to walk for an hour
to get to the hospital in time. There was nothing to do in the city in our free time.
Stay and Social Programme
I stayed in a neglected and dirty student dorm. CP team was caring enough but there was nothing to
do in the city. The national tour was the most fun part for me beacuse I’ve seen the two biggest city
of Portugal, Porto and Lisbon. These trips were well organized and good.
Highlights and Memories
This exchange provided only good friendships and two beautifull weekend trip for me. Academically I
gained nothing and as soon as the social programs ended I turned back.
Advices
The worst part was that I wasn’t placed in a city that I’d prefer. After passing the exam successfully it
is a disappointment to be placed in an another city rather than the prefered. I think the sytem
shouldn’t work like that. The most important advice that I can give to the new exchangers is that they
should make a detailed research about the place they’re going to go.

Araştırma Projesi
Projem eksojen nöral tümörler ve fotodinamik
terapiyle oluşturulan oksidatif stresin bu tümörleri
tedavi etme amaçlı kullanımıyla ilgiliydi. Dürüst
olmak gerekirse, tıp fakültesindeki ilk senemi henüz
bitirmiş olduğumdan projeyle ilgili tüm detayları
anlamadım ama sorumlu profesörüm ve proje takımım
bu konuda çok yardımcı oldular.
Proje takımımla birlikte, farklı laboratuvarlarda farklı profesörlerle çalışma imkanı buldum. Hepsinin
İngilizcesi mükemmel değildi ama hangimizin öyle ki zaten? :D Herhangi bir iletişim sıkıntısı
yaşamadık. Hepsi alanında uzmandı ve onlardan gerçekten çok şey öğrendim. Laboratuvarlarda
western blotting, immunfloresan teknikler gibi temel analizleri yaptık. Bunun yanında; fotodinamik
terapiden sonra, bir fareyi tümörü almak için ameliyat ettik. Bütün çalışmalar boyunca profesörler
teşvik edici ve yardımcıydılar.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yeşil pasaportum var bu yüzden vizeye ihtiyacım olmadı ama Cluj’un değişim sorumlusu bir davet
mektubu gönderdi. O mektupla vize almak oldukça kolay olurdu. Cluj’a uçakla gittim, önce
Budapeşte’ye gidip oradan otobüsle Cluj’a geçmek daha ucuz ama daha az konforlu olurdu. Eğer
büyük bir bavulunuz varsa uçakla gitmek daha mantıklı. Büyük ihtimalle Cluj’a direk uçuş olmayacak
ve Bükreş’ten aktarma yapmak zorunda olacaksınız. Eğer imkanınız varsa Bükreş’te birkaç gün
geçirmek değişim için iyi bir alıştırma olabilir.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Cluj büyük ihtimalle Avrupa’daki en iyi öğrenci kenti. Aslında 2015 Avrupa Gençlik Başkenti olması
zaten bu durumu yeterince açıklıyor. Şehir sanki öğrenciler için tasarlanmış gibiydi, güzel bir kampüs,
“cool” barlar ve clublar ve sıcakkanlı insanlar. :) Ve evet, güzel kızlar.
Yerel ve ulusal turlarla birkaç yer daha görme şansım oldu. Ülke gerçekten tarih ve doğanın çok güzel
bir karışımı ama Transilvanya bölgesini hiç terk etmedik bu yüzden söylediklerim ülkenin kalanı için
geçerli olmayabilir.

Research Project
My project was about the exogen neural tumors and
attempts to cure them by using the oxidative stress
caused by the photodynamic therapy. Because I had
just finished my first year in the medical school, to be
honest I did not understand all the details of the
project but my tutor and my project team was very
helpful about that. They tried to explain all the
procedures.
With my team, I had the chance to work at different laboratoires with different tutors. Not all of
them was perfect in English but who is actually, right? :D We did not have any communication
problem. They were all experts at their fields of study and I’ve learned a lot from them. At the
laboratoires we did basic analyzes; western blotting, immunofluorescence techniques etc. Beside
these; after the photodynamic therapy, we operated a rat to remove a tumor. During all of the
working, my tutors was encouraging and helpful.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I have a special passport so I did not need any visa but the exchange officer sent me a invitation
letter. It would be easy to get one. I went to Cluj by airplane. First going to Budapest by plane and
then take a bus to Cluj would be much cheaper but less comfortable. If you’re carrying a big luggage
with you It’s wiser to take the plane. Probably there will be no direct flight to Cluj, you are going to
have to make a connection in Bucharest. If you have a chance to spend a few days in Bucharest, it
would be a good warm up for the exchange.
City and Country
Cluj is probably the best student city in Europe. In fact it is the 2015 European Youth Capital so that
explains it well enough I think. The city was perfect as it’s designed for students; beautiful campus,
cool pubs and clubs and warm people. :) And yes, gorgeous girls.
I had the chance to see a bit of more Romania on the local and national trips. It was an amazing
mixture of nature and history. But I’ve never left the Transylvania so that may not be valid for the
rest of the country.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Staj boyunca okulun yurdundaki iki kişilik odada başka bir değişim öğrencisiyle birlikte kaldım. Odada
banyomuz ve mutfağımız vardı. -Buzdolabı dahil!- Contact personlar gerçekten çok iyiydi, kusursuz.
Birinci ve üçüncü haftasonlarında yerel, diğerlerinde ulusal turlar yapıldı. Hepsi iyi organize edilmişti
ve eğlenceliydi. Özellikle ulusal turlar dünyanın her yerinden insanlarla tanışma fırsatı oldukları için
çok güzeldi. Transfagaraşan dağ yolu ve Peleş Kalesi harikaydı ama açıkçası ilk ulusal turu - ikincisi
miydi yoksa?- havuz partisi nedeniyle çok hatırlamıyorum. İlk blackout’um… Güzel zamanlar… :D
Neyse, değişiminiz Romanya’daysa turlara kesinlikle katılmalısınız!
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Tüm değişim aklımda. Dünyanın her köşesinden harika insanlarla tanıştım, çok güzel bir şehri ve
ülkeyi gördüm, laboratuvarda çok şey öğrendim, hepsi değişim sayesinde! Hayatımın şüphesiz en iyi
ayıydı.
Önerileriniz
Büyük ihtimalle bir sürü insandan Romanya’yla ilgili kötü şeyler duyacaksınız. Dinlemeyin. Kesinlikle
Palinka için. Tuica içmeyi aklınızdan bile geçirmeyin… Değişiminiz Cluj’da olacaksa tavsiyeye
ihtiyacınız yok aslında. Oradakiler eğlenmeyi biliyor.
Eğer birkaç boş gününüz olursa, Budapeşte’ye gitmeyi düşünebilirsiniz. Cluj’dan oraya gitmek ucuz ve
kolay. Biletleri almaya karar verirseniz kütüphanenin yakınında bir ofis var. :D Budapeşte gördüğüm
en güzel şehir, giderseniz asla pişman olmazsınız.
Hepsi bu kadar. Değişim tamamen sizinle ilgili, eğlenmek isterseniz kesinlikle eğleneceksiniz. Cluj

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed at the school dormitory during my clerkship. I shared a room with another exchange student.
We had a bathroom and a kitchen -with a fridge- in the room. My contact person was awesome.
At the first and the third weekends we had local trips and at the other weekends we had the national
tours. They were all well-organized and fun. National trips were especially good to know a lot of
people from all around the world. Transfagarasan road and Peles Castle is really perfect but honestly
I don’t remember about the first -or was it second?- trip beacuse of the pool party. My first
blackout… Good times… :D Anyway, the trips are a must if your exchange is in Romania!
Highlights and Memories
Well, the whole exchange is a highlight in my life. I met amazing people from literally every corner of
the globe, I saw an amazing city and country, I’ve learned a lot at the laboratory all because of this
exchange! It was truly the best month of my life, no doubt.
Advices
You’ll probably hear bad comments from a lot of people about Romania. Do not listen to them.
Absoluty drink Palinka! Don’t even think about drinking Tuica… You don’t need advices if your
exchange will be in Cluj. They know how to have fun.
If you have a couple of free days, you should really consider going to Budapest. It’s really easy and
cheap to go there from Cluj. There’s an office near to the library if you decide to buy the tickets. :D
Budapest is the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen, you’ll never regret if you go.
So, that’s it. Exchange is all about you; If you want to have fun there’s no way you’ll not get what you
want. Cluj rules!

Araştırma Projesi
Bilişsel bozuklukların çeşitli faktörlere göre nasıl
değiştiğiyle ilgili bir projeye katıldım. Ancak bu
projeyle ilgili bilgisayara hastaların verilerini
girmekten fazlasını yaptığımı söyleyemem. Bu
çalışmada bir hafta geçirdikten sonra hastaneye, diğer
değişim
öğrencileriyle
birlikte
nöroloji
departmanındaki klinik stajına geçtim. Neyse ki
buradaki anabilim dalı başkanı biz yabancı öğrencilerle karşı
hayli ilgili ve alanında oldukça iyi bir doktordu. Vizitlere katıldık, nörolojik muayene yaptık, hasta
öykülerini öğrenerek ilginç vakalara tanık olduk. Stajımın bu kısmı 5 yıldızı hakediyor, ancak
araştırmayla ilgili olan kısım için aynı şeyi söyleyemeyeceğim. Sıkıntının, okulun iddia ettiğinin aksine
bir projesinin olmamasından kaynaklandığını düşünüyorum. Öyle ki, ben gitmeden projem defalarca
değişti.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Rusya'ya Türkiye'den turist olarak gitmek için vize almak gerekmiyor. Ancak staja katılacağımdan
öğrenci vizesi almam gerektiği söylendi, bunun için de kargoyla resmi bir davet mektubu yollandı.
Elbette ki kargonun ücretini ben gönderdim. Vize ise 50$ karşılığında 4 günde çıktı. Perm şehrine
Moskova'dan aktarma yaparak gittim. Beni bir öğrenci havaalanında karşıladı ve ilk ihtiyaçlarımı (sim
kart, yurda götürmek için yiyecek içecek) edinmemde yardımcı oldu.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Rusya oldukça büyük bir ülke, birçok şehri de çok ama çok güzel. Perm ise oranın altıncı büyük şehri
olmasına karşın (özellikle de İstanbul ile kıyaslandığında) küçük bir şehir. Güzel parkları ve büyük bir
nehri var. Şehrin tarihi kısmı ve onların adlandırdığı üzere "romantik kısmı" iki hat takip edilerek
gezilebiliyor. Bunların dışında gezilip görülecek çok şey yok ama hoşça vakit geçiriliyor. Ne çok
kalabalık ne de çok tenha. Ulaşım araçları biraz eski, metro yok. Geçen yıl temmuz ayında hava
genellikle yağmurluydu, ancak normalde öyle olmadığını söylediler. Soğuk sayılmaz, 16 17 dereceydi.
Hava yaz mevsiminde çok geç kararıyor, gece 2 dolaylarında. Bunu tecrübe etmek de ayrıca ilginçti.

I attended to a project about the change of cognitive
disorders by various factors but I cannot say that I’ve
done more than just input the case data into a
computer. After one week, I started a clinical clerkship in
neurology department with other exchange students. Head of this deparment was really interested
in us foreign students and an expert in his field. We attended visitations, did neurological
examinations, witnessed interesting cases by reading patient histories. This part of my project
deserves 5 stars but I cannot say the same about the first part.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
There’s no need for a visa to visit Russia as a tourist from Turkey but since I was going to attend a
clerkship, I was told to get a student visa and an invitation letter was sent with cargo. Of course I paid
for the cargo. Visa was given for 50$ in 4 days. I went to the city of Perm by a transferred flight from
Moscow. My CP welcomed me at the airport and helped me to get my basic needs (SimCard, food
and drink)
City and Country
Russia is a huge country and has many beautiful cities. But Perm, even tough it is the sixth biggest
city of Russia, is a small city especially if you compare it with Istanbul. Perm has beautiful parks and a
big river. The historic part of it and as the natives call “romantic part” can be seen by following two
paths. There’s nothing much to see except these but you can spend your time pleasently. It is neither
too crowded nor too desolate. Public transportation is a bit old, there is not a subway system. Last
year in July it was generally rainy but they said it is not like this normally. I cannot say it was cold, 1617°C. It gets dark too late in summer, around 2 AM. It was really interesting to experience this.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Orada okuyan yabancı öğrencilerin konakladığı bir öğrenci yurdunda konakladım. Yurt eskiydi,
dünyanın en konforlu yeri sayılmazdı. Talihsizlik bu ya, ilk hafta sıcak suyumuz bile yoktu. Odam iki
kişilikti, bir ranza vardı ve Brezilyalı oda arkadaşımla çok iyi anlaştık, gitmemin bana kazandırdığı en
güzel şeylerden biri bu. Yan odada ise yine bizim programımızdan üç kız kalıyordu ve beşimiz aynı
tuvaleti kullanıyorduk. Küçük bir şehrin küçük bir yurdunda hiç kalmamıştım, iyi ki kaldım. Rusya
ifmsa'deki en yetkili kişilerin umursamaz olduklarını düşünüyorum, bir tek bilgi almak için haftalarca
e-posta bekledim. Ancak orada bizlerle ilgilenen öğrenciler harika insanlardı. National tour olmadı
ancak bizi civar şehirlere ve kasabalara götürdüler. Biri Kungur, küçük ve çok güzel bir denizci şehri.
Diğeri ise Ekaterinburg, büyük ve daha hareketli, daha endüstriyel, yurtları da çok daha konforlu bir
şehir. At binme turu yaptığımız kasaba var bir de, o küçük Rus atıyla çok iyi anlaştık. Hepsinin yeri
ayrıydı, herbirini görmüş olmaktan mutluluk duyuyorum. Stajın son haftasında ise sözünü ettiğim oda
arkadaşımla Moskova ve St. Petersburg'a gittik, gönlümüzce seyahat ettik. Rusya'ya giden herkesin
bu şehirleri görmesini şiddetle öneririm.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Anılarımı buraya sığdırabilir miyim bilemiyorum, çok net şekilde söyleyebileceğim tek şey 9 kişilik
grubumuzda çok güzel şeyler paylaştığımız. İki Yunan, iki Meksikalı, bir Çek, bir Brezilyalı, bir Fransız
ve bir Polonyalıdan oluşan bir arkadaş grubumun olacağını söyleseler, inanmazdım. Kimi zaman
sıkıntılarla beraber baş ettik, kimi zaman ufak tartışmalar yaşadık, kimi zaman ise bolca eğlendik.
Nöroloji bölümünde çok şey öğrendim ve bambaşka bir kültür tanıdım. Gitmeden önceki ve ilk hafta
yaşanan bazı aksiliklere rağmen stajımın geneli benden 4 yıldız alır :)
Önerileriniz
Benden "çok çok önemli" diye istedikleri onlarca sağlık tahlili ve raporundan hiçbirine bakmadılar,
istenilen her şeyi yolladım ve öylece kaldı. Grupta yollamayan arkadaşlarım dahi vardı. Gitmek
isteyenler bunu dikkate alabilir, ve büyük şehirlerden hoşlananlar Perm yerine Ekaterinburg'u
seçebilir. (Tabii bende olduğu gibi klinik eğitime geçmiş olmamak gibi nedenlerle Moskova veya St.
Petersburg'a zaten kabul edilmiyorlarsa) Gitmek isteyenlere bir başka önerim ufak sıkıntılar karşısında
yılmamaları; güzel bir yaz onları bekliyor olacak!

Stay and Social Programme
I stayed in a dormitory in which normally foreigner students in Russia stay. Dormitory was old. It was
not the most comfortable place in the world. We didn’t even have hot water in the first week. I
shared a room and a bunk bed with a Brasilian exchange student which I get along very well. This is
one of the best things that my exchange gave me. Three girls from our exchange program was
staying in the room next to ours and we were sharing a bathroom. I’ve never stayed in a small dorm
in a small city. I am glad that I did. I think the authorized people of IFMSA Russia are reckless. I waited
for an e-mail for weeks. They didn’t organize any national tour but we went to near cities and town.
One of them was Kungur, a small and very beautiful sailor city and the other one was Ekaterinburg,
bigger and more active, more industrialized and has much more comfortable dormitories. Also that
little Russian horse and I really liked each other in the town we did horse-riding. I am really glad to
see them all. In the last week of the clerkship I’ve travelled to Moscow and St. Petersburg with my
roommate. I strongly advice to everyone travelling to Russia to see these cities.
Highlights and Memories
I am not sure if I can fit all my memories here but I can clearly say that we shared a lot with each
other. I wouldn’t believe if someone had said that I’ll have a friend group consisting of two
Greeks, two Mexicans, a Czech, a Brasilian, a French and a Polish. We dealed with problems
sometimes, had little arguments and had a lot of fun. I’ve lerned a lot at the Neurology department
and a whole different culture.
Advices
They didn’t even wanted to see all these “ very important” health reports and tests. I just sent them
and that’s all. There were people in our group who even didn’t send. You can consider this and if you
like big cities, you can choose Ekaterinburg instead of Perm. (Of course if you don’t have a chance to
choose Moscow or St. Petersburg because of not being a clinical student etc.) The last advice for
those who want to choose Russia; don’t get desperate while facing little problems, a beautiful
summer is waiting for you!

Araştırma Projesi
Göğüs ve Kolorektal kanserlerin cerrahi onkolojisi isimli
projemde, ‘’Institute of Oncology, Sremska Kamenica Novi Sad’’ hastanesinde bir projede çalışmaktan
çok, Cerrahi onkoloji bölümünde staj yaptığımı söyleyebilirim. Tıp fakültesinde ilk senemi bitirdikten
sonra ilk kez ameliyatlara burada girme fırsatı buldum. İlk hastane günümde toplam 5.30 saat süren
peşpeşe 3 ameliyata girerek cerrahi dünyasına hızlı bir giriş yapmış bulundum. Profesörüm ve bana
atadığı Tutor, ingilizce konusunda oldukça yeterli olmasına karşın, Novi Sad LORE’sinin kendilerini
bilgilendirme eksiği ve yoğunluklarından ötürü pek bir projeye katılım gösteremedim. Bunun yanı sıra
Yaz dönemi olduğu için bol bol hasta ile ilgilenip, onkoloji bölümünde muayenelere yardımcı oldum
ve kendime çok şey kattım.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Yeşil Pasaportum olduğu için Avrupa’da vize ihtiyacım bulunmuyor. Ancak Sırbistan ile Türkiye
arasında karşılıklı olarak vizeler kalktığı için normal pasaport sahibi arkadaşlar da vize almadan
rahatça Sırbistan’a gidebilirler. Ülkemden gidiş dönüş yaklaşık 200 lira gibi komik bir fiyata aldığım
bilet ile İstanbul’dan Belgrad’a ulaştım. Belgrad’dan shuttle ile şehir merkezine ulaştıktan sonra tren
ile yaklaşık 2 euroya veya otobüslerle 4 euroya Novi Sad’a gidebiliyorsunuz. Novi Sad’ın en önemli
artısı sanırım Belgrad’a olan yakınlığı idi.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Novi Sad, Bodrum’un gece hayatı ve Eskişehir’in kompakt ve ucuz şehir yaşamının içiçe geçmiş hali
diyebiliriz. İlk gecemde şehre aşık olmuştum. Çünkü hayatımda hiç bu kadar canlı ve yaşayan bir şehir
görmemiştim. İlk çıktığım sokakta Nothing Else Matters çalan 5’li kız viyolinistler de bu ani sevgime
katkıda bulunmuştur elbette. Novi Sad, her yere yürüyerek gidebileceğiniz, çok kalabalık olmasa da
geceleri ve hafta sonları oldukça canlı bir gece hayatına sahip, bunun yanında turistik birçok yere
otobüs mesafesi kadar yakın olması, önemli bir tren hattı üzerinde bulunması (Belgrad-Novi SadBudapeşte-Prag/Moskova) ve her şeyin gerçekten sudan ucuz olması ile gönülleri kazanan bir şehir.
Her sokak başında bulunan Pekara (Fırın)lar ile, ülkemizde de sıklıkla tüketilen sıcak Böreklere,
Ayranlara çok rahat biçimde 1.5 euro gibi bir fiyata ulaşabilirsiniz. Marketlerde biralar, 500 ml kutu

Research Project
During my project, rather than studying in a research
project in the Institute of Oncology, Sremska Kamenica
Novi Sad, I can say that I did a clerkship at the surgical
oncology department. After finishing the first year of the
medical school I had my first chance to attend surgical operations. On my first day at the hospital, I
can say that I made a quick entrance to the OR with attending three surgical operations lasted five
and a half hours in total. Even though my professor and tutor was more than able to speak English
well enough, I couldn’t contribute to the project well enough beacuse the LORE of Novi Sad didn’t
inform them about me. But I took care about a lot of patients and helped examinations at the
oncology department and I believe I’ve learned a lot.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I don’t need any visa because I have a special passport for visiting most of the Europe. But due to the
agreement between two countries there’s no need to get visa for Serbia. I arrived to Belgrade by a
plane -which costed 200 TL like a joke- from Istanbul. After getting to the city center of Belgrade by a
shuttle you can go to Novi Sad by train for 2 euros or by bus for 4 euros. I suppose the biggest
advantage of Novi Sad is it’s closeness to Belgrade.
City and Country
Novi Sad is a mix of the night life of Bodrum and the compact, cheap daily life of Eskişehir. I fell in
love with the city at my first night because it was the first time I’ve ever seen a city so alive. Of course
I cannot ignore the contribution of the 5 violinist playing Nothing Else Matters on the first street I
walked through. Novi Sad is a small,cheap city. You can go anywhere by walking. Even though It’s not
too crowded, it has a very active night life. It is on a very important railway line (Belgrade-Novi SadBudapest-Prag-Moscow) and very close to a lot of touristic attractions. All these features make Novi
Sad a lovely city.You can buy pastries and ayran which are also consumed in our country, from
Pekaras, bakeries which can be found on each street practically, for 1,5 eur. Beers from a variety
between 500 ml for 40 dinars (0,3 eur) and 2,5 liters for 300 dinars (2,5 eur) are waiting for their
alcoholic owners. :D It is common to consume alcohol on the streets, especially students really like to
meet and drink.. Besides that there are beautiful beaches along the side of Danube River. You’ll
probably be ashamed of yourself when you see the perfect bodies of Serbians but swim in the river
and sunbathe at the beach to relax. Serbia is an amazing Balkan country resembling both Turkey and
Europe, with people who have amazing bodies, living with homemade Rakija and listening to Turbo
folk music.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Novi Sad şehir merkezinde bir hostelin iki odasında kızlar ve erkekler olmak üzere, kızlar 14 kişi,
erkekler 7 kişi konakladık. Bu kadar öğrenci yurdu bulunan bir şehirde hostelde kalmak garibimize
gitse de, kendi mutfağımız, esnek giriş çıkış saatleri ve grup içi uyum ile, konaklamanın bir sorun
halinden çok bir festival haline gelmesini sağladık. 21 kişiye koşturan tek bir CP olması maalesef
değişim kalitesini inanılmaz şekilde düşürdü. National Tour düzenlenmedi. Daha doğrusu
düzenleneceği söylendi ve ertesi gün gönderi silindi. Biz şok. Ancak LORE’nin bulduğu bir aracı ile,
Sırbistan-Karadağ sınırındaki bir dağ evine tura gittik. İnanılmaz bir parkurda Rafting yaptık. Zaten
Ağustos seçme sebeplerimden biri olan Belgrade Beer Fest’e gittik. Yukarıda bahsettiğim Tur ve
Konaklama sorunlarını MM2015’te gerekli ulusal kişilere ilettim ve seneye böyle olmayacağını
söylediler. Umarım sözlerinde dururlar.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Tıp alanında yaptığım neredeyse ilk çalışma olması, çok iyi arkadaşlar edinmem, sorunları
international bir ortamda iş bölümüyle anında çözümleyebilmemiz, çok iyi parti yapmamız, ama
sabahında 8de kalkıp hastaneye koşturacak enerjiyi kendimizde bulmamız hala aklımda ve özlediğim
şeyler. Şartlar ne olursa olsun 21 tıp öğrencisi her zaman eğlenmenin ve öğrenmenin bir yolunu
buluyor. Ayrıca: THAT NFDP THOUGH!
Önerileriniz
Novi Sad’daki Yerel Birlik biraz vasattı. Bu da değişime güzel yansımadı tabi ki. Ama Bunun haricinde
her şey olumluydu. Önerilerim ise, Beer Fest’e kesinlikle gidin, Belgrad’ı dolaşmadan dönmeniz zaten
imkansız, Çevre ülkelere gidin (ben çevre 5 ülke
ye gittim, oldukça makul fiyatlarla otobüsle), Danube Nehrine girin, Sabah dahi ikram edilse o rakija’yı
için. Karlofçaya gidin, Ulusal Parka gidin, Red Cow Irish Bar’da Red Cow Burger yiyin ve Niksicko
Tamno için. Belgrad’da Kaymaklı Cevacici köftesi yiyin (Bohemian Quarter’da), bir sorunuz olursa
bana ulaşın  Verebileceğim en önemli öneri ise şu: Değişime Gidin!

Stay and Social Programme
We stayed in a hostel at the city center, in two rooms. One for 7 boys, the other for 14 girls. Despite
tha fact that it was a bit weird to stay in a hostel, in a city that has a lot of student dormitories; with
harmony in our group, our own kitchen and flexible entrance/exit times we turned this little problem
into a festival. There was only one cp for 21 exchange students and this lowered the quality of our
exchange. No national tour was organized. Actually we were told that there would be one but the
post was deleted the day after. But we went to a trip by a vehicle which LORE provided to a
mountain house, went rafting on an amazing parkour and Belgrade Beer Fest which was the reason
for me to make my exchange in August. All these problems about tours and acommodation were told
to natianol directors at MM2015 and they told things will be different next year. I hope they’ll keep
their promise.
Highlights and Memories
It was my first study in the medical field, I made such good friends, learned how to solve problems by
jobsharing in an international environment, partied hard but still could find the energy to go to the
hospital at 8 am. All these are the things I miss. Under all circumstances, 21 medical students always
find a way to have fun and learn. PS: THAT NFDP THOUGH!
Advices
Novi Sad LC was kind of mediocre and of course this is not good for an exchange but beside this
everything was positive. My advices: Absolutely go to Beer Fest. It is impossible to turn back without
seeing Belgrade but also see the near countries. I’ve travelled to near 5 countries for a fairly
reasonable price. Swim in Danube River, drink that Rakija even if it’s offered in the morning. See
Karlovci, National Park. Eat Red Cow Burger and drink Niksicko Tamno at Red Cow Irish Bar. Eat
“Cevacici with Kaymak” meatballs in Belgrade (at the Bohemian Quarter) and get in contact with me
if you have a question. The most important advice that I can give is: Go to Exchange!

Araştırma Projesi
Projem damar elastikiyetine etki eden parametreler
üzerineydi. Biyofizik ana bilim dalında yürütülüyordu
proje dolayısıyla hastanede değil laboratuvardaydım. Doppler ultrasonografi ile bazı periferal
arterlerin özellikleri elde edilmiş, ne yazık ki projenin bu kısmına tanık olamadım, benim gittiğim
tarihte bu işlemler yapılmıştı. Ben de bu verilerin bilgisayarda işlenmesi, formülize edilmesi ve
sonuçların analizi kısmında yer aldım. Daha önce bilmediğim bir takım biyofizik yazılımlarını ve bunları
kullanmayı öğrendim bu açıdan oldukça verimliydi. Tutor'um projenin asıl sahibi değildi ama yine de
kendisi çatpat İngilizcesiyle çok sıcakkanlıydı. Projenin sahibi olan doktora öğrencisi oldukça ilgiliydi
benimle. Daha gençti ve daha iyi İngilizce biliyordu. Gerek proje gerekse şehirle ilgili hiçbir sorumu
yanıtsız bırakmadı.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Tunus'a vize yok. Uçak biletimi aldım ve gittim direkt. Havalimanında contact person'ım karşıladı,
hiçbir sorun yaşamadım.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Tunus'un başkenti Tunus şehrindeydim. Tunus tam bir akdeniz şehri. Kapalıçarşı'yı andıran pazarları
(Medina), mavi-beyaz evleri ve uzuuunca plajlarıyla tam yazı geçirmelik bir yer. Şehirde ulaşım ağı çok
iyi değil ama taksiler oldukça ucuz (15 dakikalık yola 5 Tunus Dinarı veriyorsunuz. Bu arada 1
Tunus Dinarı yaklaşık 1.1 Türk Lirası.). Tunus, dünyanın en büyük mozaik müzesi olan Bardo müzesine,
Afrika'nın en yüksek binasına, Türkiye'de göremeyeceğiniz pek çok hayva
na ev sahipliği yapan bir hayvanat bahçesine, geceleri hareketli pek çok caddeye, sahil boyunca
uzun yürüyüş alanlarına, doyasıya pazarlık yapacağınız pek çok otantik mağazaya, leziz yemeklere
ve daha pek çok şeye ev sahipliği yapıyor.

Research Project
My project was about the parameters which
affects vascular elasticity. The project was carried out by the biophysics division, because of that I
was at the laboratory. Properties of some peripheral arteries had been observed by doppler
ultrasonography before I was there unfortunately. I took part in the formulazition, computerization
of this data and the analyzation of the outcomes. I learned some biophysics softwares and how to
use them so it was very productive for me. My tutor was not the actual owner of the project but
she/he was very warm with her/his not-so-good English. The doctorate student who was the owner
of the project was very fond of me. He/she was younger and her/his english was better. He/she
answered all my questions about project as well as about the city.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
Going to Tunisia from Turkey doesn’t require a visa. I just bought a plane ticket and went. My contact
person was waiting for me at the airport, I didn’t have any problem.
City and Country
I was at the capital of Tunisia, Tunis. Tunis is such a mediterranean city. It’s a perfect place to spend
the summer; with it’s bazaars (Medina) like Grand Bazaar in İstanbul, blue-white houses and long
beaches. The transportation system is not very well but the taxis are really cheap. ( We payed 5
Tunisian dinars for a 15 minutes ride. 1 Tunisian Dinar = 1,1 Turkish Lira ) Tunisia has the biggest
mosaic museum in the world, Bardo Museum, the highest building in Africa, a zoo which hosts a lot
of animals that you cannot see in Turkey, a lot of avenues with active night life, walking paths along
the beaches, countless authentic shops that you can bargain with the seller as you wish, delicious
food and many more.

20 kişilik bir incoming grubuyduk. Bir öğrenci hostelinde kalıyorduk. Bir oda Tunus'lu arkadaşlarımıza
aitti, her gece mutlaka en az bir cp kalıyordu. Herkesin ayrı cp'si vardı her etkinliğe tüm cp'ler
katılamıyordu tabi ki ama gelmek için birbirleriyle yarışıyorlardı ve oldukça ilgiliydiler. Ben kendi cp'm
ile çok iyi anlaştım, ilk gece onun evinde kaldım ve daha sonra pek çok kez yemeğe davet etti.
Tunus'da tüm stajlar yarım gün, öğleden sonraları Tunus'da veya civar şehirlerde küçük turlar yaptık.
Her pazartesi, çarşamba ve cuma cp'lerin bizler için organize ettiği bu turlara katıldık. Bu turlar bazen
uzak bir plajda denize girmek, bazen turistik kasabaları gezmek, bazen çarşıları gezmek şeklinde
oluyordu ve her geziye cp'lerin kişisel araçlarıyla ulaşım sağlanıyordu. 5 veya 6 araç konvoy halinde
Tunus sokaklarını epey arşınladık. Diğer günlerde, salı ve perşembe günleri, kendi imkanlarımızla
gezdik.
3 National Tour vardı, hepsine katıldım ve inanılmaz eğlendim.
İlk haftasonu El-Haouareya'ya gittik. Bir sahil kasabasında bize özel kiralanmış iki büyük villada
geçirdik haftasonunu. Bizim için kiralanan bir tekneyle yine bizim için kiralanan bir adaya gittik ve ilk
günü burda geçirdik. Mağaralar, çeşitli su sporları, deniz mahsüllerini pişirdiğimiz ızgara, deniz ve
bolca güneş. İkinci gün El-Haouareya plajında geçirdik günümüzü. İkinci haftasonu Tabarka'daydık.
Scuba diving ve tracking ile geçti bu haftasonu. Üçüncü hafta sonu ise eşsiz Sahara'daydık. Otobüsle
başladığımız yolculuğa jeeplerle devam ettik ve ardından develerle bitirdik. Çölde olmak eşsiz bir
deneyimdi benim için. Saatlerce deveye binmek, seraplar görmek, çölün ortasında vahada suya
girmek, çölde yerin altına inşa edilmiş Berberi evlerini ziyaret etmek, StarWars'ın çekildiği yerlerde o
dekorla fotoğraflar çekmek, palmiye ormanında faytonla serin (!) bir geziye çıkmak...

Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Değişimden kalan en güzel şey orda edindiğim arkadaşlıklar oldu. Değişimimin ilk günü oldukça
endişeliydim, burda 30 gün nasıl geçer, diye. Son hafta ise her bir arkadaşımızın ayrılmasıyla
yaşadığım üzüntüyü anlatamam. Dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen 20 genç, Akdeniz'in en güzel
şehirlerinden birinde 30 gün geçirirlerse, anılar anlatmakla bitmez. Acıklı olanlarından bir tanesi son
günümdü: Uçağımın kalkmasına 2 saat var, hostelde herkesle vedalaştım, tam çıkmak üzereydik ki...
Hostelin kapıları zincirli, içerde mahsur kalmıştık. Valizimi birinci kattan aşağı atıp, demir kapının
üstündeki küçücük aralıktan kaçıp havalimanına gitmek üzere yola çıktık. Yolda bizi durduran İngilizce
bilmeyen polise; kafası güzel şöforu, yanında kimliği olmayan küçük Endonezyalı kızı ve suratında kin
dolu bir ifade olan beni açıklamaya çalışan İngiliz arkadaşımın hali görülmeye değerdi. Onları
bırakarak yol kenarından havalimanına koştum, ben uçağa yetiştim umarım onlarda çabuk
kurtulmuşlardır polisten. İşte böyle her anı macera olan bir şehir Tunus.
Önerileriniz
Dinarı ülke dışında kullanmak yasak. Gider gitmez tüm paranızı çevirin (sık döviz ofisi bulamıyorsunuz
veya bozmuyorlar) ve dönerken tamamını tekrar çevirin (Türkiye'de çeviremezsiniz.).
Ramazan'da yerli halka alkol satışı yok. Dolayısıyla marketler getirmiyor. Sadece otellerde
bulabilirsiniz. National Tour'lar ve diğer organizasyonlar için cp'ler sağlıyor ama onun dışında bir otel
bulmalısınız.Dini bayramlarda açık tek bir dükkan bulamazsınız. Mutlaka yiyecek stoğunuzu yapın. 3
günlük Ramazan Bayramı'nda susuzluktan ölmek üzereydik.
Sakın ha hiçbir ürünü pazarlıksız almayın. 80 dinardan 5'e inebilirsiniz (yaşanmıştır :D).
Sidi Bou Said'i görmeden dönmeyin. Bol bol eğlenip güzel arkadaşlıklar edinmeye bakın. :)

Stay and Social Programme
We were 20 in our group, stayed in a student hostel. One of the rooms belonged to our Tunisian
friends. Every night, at least one cp stayed with us. Every exchange student had a cp but of course
not all of them could attend all the activities. But they were all willing to come and caring. I got along
with my cp very well, I stayed in his/her home at my first night and later he/she invited me to dinner
many times.
We studied at the hospital until midday; after, we had tours in Tunis or other near cities on every
monday, wednesday and friday. These tours sometimes involved going to a beach, sometimes
sightseeing in touristic towns or going to bazaars for shopping. For these tours, we used our contact
person’s cars. On the other days of the week we had our own tours.
There were 3 national tours, I attented all of them and had a lot of fun.
We went to El-Haouareta at the first weekend. We spend the weekend in two big villas in a beach
town. We went to an island by a boat and spend the first day there. All of these were specially rented
for us including the island. Caves, grilling sea-food, watersports, sea and sun… We spend the second
day at the El-Haouareya beach.
We were in Tabarka at the second weekend. We did scuba diving and tracking.
And at the third weekend we were at the unique Sahara. We started the journey with the buses and
continiued with jeeps and then with camels. It was a unique experience for me, being in the desert.
Riding a camel for hours, seeing mirages, swimming at an oasis in the middle of the desert, visiting
the Berberi houses which was built underground, taking photographs with the scenes of StarWars, a
cool(!) phaeton ride through the palm forest...
Other than that:National Foods and Drinks Party, Tunisian Night, Traditional Tunusian Ramadan
Dinner
Highlights and Memories
The best thing about the exchange is the friends I made back then. I was really worried at the first
day, thinking “How will I spend 30 days here?”. But I cannot describe how sad I was as our friends
was leaving one by one in the last week. You’ll have memories more than you can ever tell if 20
young people from all over the world spend 30 days together in one of the most beautiful cities of
Mediterranean. My last day is a bitter story: I had 2 hours for my flight and I had said goodbye to
everyone. It was just before we left when we realized that the gates of the hostel was locked. I threw
my luggage from the first floor and escape from the little gap above the door to hit the road for the
airport. It was a scene worth to see, my English friend trying to explain the situation; me with a
hateful face, a little Indonesian girl without an ID and the drunk taxi driver to the police who stoped
us. :D I left them and ran for the airport. I catched the plane and hoped they get rid of the police
soon. Tunis is a city in which all the moments are adventures.
Advices
It’s not permitted to use dinar outside of the country. Change all your money as soon as you get
there ( You can’t find an exchange office often) and change again before you go back to your country.
There’s no place to buy alcohol in Ramadan except hotels. For national tours and other organizations
contact persons provide but other than that you’ll have to find a hotel.
You can’t find a single open shop at the times of festivals so stock food. We nearly died of thirst
during the three days of Ramadan Festival.
Do not buy anything without bargaining. You can buy it for 5 even if they want 80. ( True story :D)

Join the people at the beach when it’s time for iftar.
Go camping for a night to one of the hills around the city
Have fun and make new friends. :)

Araştırma Projesi
Hastane laboratuvarında çok iyi ve neşeli insanlarla tanıştım. Hastanedeki herkes laboratuvar
çalışmalarının nasıl yapıldığını göstermek istiyordu, çok hevesliydiler. Testler için kimyasallar
hazırladım ve pek çok laboratuvar işinde yer aldım. Hocam, Biyokimya Laboratuvarı’nın başındaki
kişiydi, zeki ve iyi bir insandı. Laboratuvarda çok ilginç şeyler gösterdi ve bize bir şeyler öğretmek
istiyordu. Laboratuvarımdaki herkesi özlüyorum.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Evet, vizeye ihtiyaç duydum ve vizeyi İstanbul Havaalanı’ndan aldım. Polonya’dan İstanbul’a tek
uçuşla geldim ve sadece iki saat içinde Türkiye’deydim Geldiğimde CP’m beni bekliyordu o nedenle
İstanbul’da iletişimle ilgili hiç sorun yaşamadım.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
İstanbul sokaklarını bir sürü insanın doldurduğu çok büyük bir şehirdi. Sadece bir kaç gün içinde
şehrin ulaşım araçlarını kullanmayı öğrendim, böylece şehirde pek çok küçük gezinti yaptım. Şu anda
bu şehirde rehberlik yapabileceğimi düşünüyorum ve umuyorum ki bir gün yine Sultanahmet
meydanında konaklayacağım.
Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Stajım süresince İstanbul’daki uluslararası öğrenciler için bir yurtta kaldım. Odamı paylaştığım kızlar
iyi insanlardı(biri Polonya’dan arkadaşımdı). Odam samimiydi ama çok sıcaktı(klima yoktu), yine de
odamı sevdim. Yurt şehrin göbeğindeydi, Sultanahmet’e 20 dakikalık yürüme mesafesindeydi
CP’m çok yardımseverdi ve Pierre Loti Dağı gibi İstanbul’daki güzel yerleri gösterdi. Bütün gelen
öğrencilere CP’mi öneririm. Ulusal turlardan hiçbirine katılmadım çünkü turlar tam benim dönme
vaktimin geldiği sıralarda başladı
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
İstanbul’da bir sürü insanla tanıştım ve Türk kültürünü deneyimledim. Türk arkadaşlarımın beni iftara
davet ettiği bir akşamı hatırlıyorum. Ulusal yiyecek ve içeceklerinizi tattım(Mercimek çorbasını ve
baklavayı sevdim).Benimkinden farklı geleneklere
ve kültürlere tanıklık ettim.

Research Project
I met very nice and joyful people in the hospital’s laboratory. Everybody in the hospital wanted to
show how lab work was done, they were very enthusiastic. I prepared reagents for tests and took
part in a lot of lab work. My tutor, the professor in charge of the Biochemistry Laboratory was a
pleasant and intelligent person. He showed us a lot of interesting things in the laboratory and
wanted to teach us. I miss all of the people from my laboratory.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
Yes, I needed a visa and I bought it on the airport in Istanbul. I took a flight directly from Poland to
Istanbul and in just two hours I was in Turkey  My CP was waiting for me at the airport, so I didn’t
have any problems with communication in Istanbul.
City and Country
Istanbul was very big city with a lot of people filling the streets. In just a few days I learned how to
use means of local transportation so I made a lot of little trips around the city. Now I think that I can

Stay and Social Programme
During my clerkship I stayed in a dormitory for international students in Istanbul. I shared my room
with nice girls (one of them was my friend from Poland). My room was cozy but it was really hot
(no air conditioning), I loved it anyway. The dormitory was situated in heart of the city – 20 minutes
on foot from Sulthanahmed
My CP was very helpful and showed me great places in Istanbul, such as the Pierre Loti Mountain. I
would recommend all incomings my CP. I didn’t participate in any of the national tours because those
trips started taking place when it was time for me to return.
Highlights and Memories
I met a lot of nice people in Istanbul and also I experienced Turkish culture. I remember one evening
when my Turkish friends invited me to iftar. I tasted your national foods and drinks (I loved lentil
soup and baklava). I witnessed traditions and cultures which were different from mine.
Advices
Take a lot of smiles with you and comfortable shoes for long trips in big Istanbul 

Araştırma Projesi
Prof. Dr.Atilla Dağdeviren ve Araştırma Görevlisi Duygu Dayanır’ın denetimi ve yönlendirmeleri
altında Başkent Üniversitesi Histoloji ve Embriyoloji Departmanı’nda araştırma değişimi
öğrencisiydim. Projemin adı ise “ Timüs’ün 3D Yapılandırılması”ydı. Projemin amacı BioVis3D adlı
bilgisayar programını kullanarak timüs dokusunun 3D yapılanmasını tamamlamaktı. Bir Wistar
faresinin timüsünü çıkarmamız gerekiyordu. Sonrasında, mikrotom kullanarak hematoksilen ve
eozinle boyanmış timüs dokusundan histolojik slaytlar yaptık. Timüs dokusunu BioVis3D programında
yapılandırmada kullanmak üzere ışık mikroskobunda slaytların resimlerini çektik. Profesör Atilla
Dağdeviren olağanüstü bir insan ve Histoloji ve Embriyoloji Departmanı’nın da başkanı. İçtenlikle
söyleyebilirim ki onunla çalışmak insanın ömrü boyunca bir kere karşılaşabileceği bir deneyim.
Danışmanımla aramdaki iletişim, daha önce de belirttiğim gibi, çok iyiydi, Atilla Hoca’nın İngilizcesi
çok iyi. Değişim programım süresince edindiğim teorik ve pratik bilgi birikimi açısından samimiyetle
projeme mümkün olan en yüksek puanı verirdim.
Vize Durumu, Yolculuk ve Ulaşım
Türkiye’ye gitmek için herhangi bir vizeye ihtiyaç duymadım. Uçak biletlerimi Timişoara,
Romanya’dan Ankara, Türkiye’ye Münih, Almanya üzerinden aktarmalı olacak şekilde aldım. Münih,
Almanya’daki aktarmayla beraber uçakla Ankara’ya ulaşmam yaklaşık 3 saatimi aldı. Gidiş ve dönüş
biletleri yaklaşık 280 euroydu. Contact personlarımdan biri, Esra Erdoğan, beni havaalanından alıp
arabasıyla Başkent Üniversitesi yurtlarına bıraktı.
Proje Şehri ve Ülkesi
Proje yapacağım şehir olarak Ankara’yı seçtim çünkü Ankara’nın başkent olduğunu ve Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk’ün yönlendirmeleriyle kurulduğunu biliyordum. Pek çok unsur açısından Türkiye harika bir
ülke; mutfağı çok lezzetli yemekler barındırıyor, tarihi sultanlar ve demokrasi olarak ayrılmakta ve
manzaralar gizemli denizlerden görkemli dağlara kadar uzanıyor. Dünyadaki herkese zaman ayırıp
Türkiye’ye gitmelerini, kendilerinin Türkiye’nin tatlarının içinde kaybetmelerini ve zenginliği ve
sıcaklığıyla sarmalanmalarını öneririm. Ankara’ya mümkün olan en yüksek puanı verirdim.

Project Name : 3D Reconstruction of Thymus

Project
I was an research exchange student at
Baskent University- Histology and Embriology Department, under the guidance and supervision of
Prof. Attila Dagdeviren and research assistant Duygu Dayanir. The title of my project was ”3D
Reconstruction of the Thymus”. My project’s goal was to achieve the 3D reconstruction of the thymic
tissue using a computer software named BioVis3D. We need to extract the thymus from a Wistar rat.
After that, using the microtome, we made histological slides of thymic tissue stained in hematoxylin
and eosin. We took photos of the slides under a light microscope that we used in BioVis3D to
reconstruct the thymic tissue. Professor Attila Dagdeviren is extraordinary; he is the head of the
Histology and Embryology Department. If you work with him, I can sincerely tell you that is one of a
lifetime experience.The communication, as I said, between me and my tutpr was absolutly great,
professor Attila has really good English skills. Sincerely, I would rate my project regarding the
theoretical and practical knowledge gained during my exchange programme with maximum of
points.
Visa, Travel and Arrival
I did not need any visa to go to Turkey. I bought my plane tickets from Timisoara,Romania to Ankara,
Turkey with a stop in Munich,Germany. It took me approximately 3 hours to reach Ankara by plane,
including my airplane change in Munich,Germany. The price of the ticket was approximately 280
euros both ways. One of my contact person, Esra Erdogan, picked me up from the airport with her
car and drove me to Baskent dorms.
City and Country
I have chosen Ankara for my project city because I knew that it
is the capital of Turkey and it was raised under the rule of
Ataturk Kemal. Turkey is a great country regarding a large
variety of aspects: the cuisine is delicious, the history of the
country is divided between sultans and democracy and the
landscapes reaches between sea and mountains. I recommend
every person on Earth to take her/his time and go to Turkey and
engulf in its flavours and embalm with its warmth and riches. I
would rate Ankara with maximum of points

Stajım süresince Başkent Üniversitesi yurtlarında
kaldım. Odamı Heitor Lopez adlı bir Brezilyalı
erkekle paylaştım, gerçekten sosyal, arkadaş canlısı
ve iyi bir insandı. Geleneklerden ulusal mutfağa
kadar uzanan farklı konular üzerine konuşurduk.
Contact personlarım Esra Erdoğan ve Ender
Ergüder’di. İkisi de beraber vakit geçirmek için
harika insanlar. Samimiyetle söyleyebilirim ki, bize
göz kulak oldular; şehri, geleneksel mutfağı ve
yakınlardaki doğal ortamları gösterdiler. Onlara
veda etme zamanı geldiğinde çok iyi arkadaşlıklar
kurduğumuzu anladım. Değişimde bulunduğum
haftasonlarından birinde ulusal turlardan birine,
Kapadokya, katıldım. Oraya otobüsle ulaştık ve
Ürgüp’te organizasyon ekibi tarafından alındık.
Sonrasında, orada iyi ve temiz bir otelde konakladık. Otelde kaldığımız süre boyunca, verilmekte olan
yemekler ve rehberli turların yanısıra ulusal danslar ve şarkılar içeren geleneksel bir Türk akşamı da
yaşadık. O bölgedeki pek çok tarihi ve doğal bölgeyi ziyaret ettik. Bir ailenin çömlek dükkanına
gittiğimizi hatırlıyorum. Sosyal program ve konaklama harikaydı. Kapadokya gezimi en yüksek puanla
notlandırırdım.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
Türkiye’de geçirdiğim her an unutulmazdı çünkü insanlar ve mekanlar gerçekten harika. Herkes size
yardım etmeye çalışıyor, Türkler sıcakkanlı, sosyal ve arkadaş canlısı. Türkiye’de kaldığım süre
boyunca iyi hissetmediğim tek bir saniye bile olmadı. Profesör Atilla Dağdeviren ve asistanı Duygu
Dayanır’ın yönlendirmeleriyle Başkent Üniversite’sinde kazandığım deneyim için gerçekten
müteşekkirim. İçtenlikle şunu söyleyebilirim ki, Türkiye’yi seviyorum. Bir ay sonra, İstanbul Koç
Üniversitesinde bir haftalık bir yaz okulu için Türkiye’ye döndüm. Türkiye ziyaretime mümkün olan en
yüksek puandan daha yükseğini verirdim.
Önerileriniz
Herkese çantalarını toplamalarını, tek yönlü bir uçak bileti alıp mümkün olan en yakın zamanda
Türkiye’ye gitmelerini tavsiye ederim. Hiç şüphe duymaksızın bu kararlarından pişman
olmayacaklarını söyleyebilirim. Sizi temin edebilirim ki Türkiye’yi ziyaret etmek ve orada vakit
geçirmek eşsiz bir deneyim olacaktır ve ziyaretiniz boyunca kendinizi bir Türk saymaktan gurur
duyacaksınız.

Stay and Social Programme
During my clerkship I stayed at Baskent dorms in Ankara. I shared my room with one Brazilian guy
named Heitor Lopez. He was a really sociable, friendly and nice person. We talked about different
subjects stretching between tradition and national cuisine. My contact people were : Esra Erdogan
and Ender Erguder. Both of them are great people to spend time with. Later, they truly become my
friends. I can tell that they took care of us, showing us the city, the traditional cuisine and the nearby
landscapes. I was on a national tour- Cappadocia on one of the weekends. We arrived there by bus
and we were picked up by the organizers in Urgup, Turkey. After that we were accommodated at one
of the hotels there, a really nice and clean hotel. During our stay there we received meals, guided
tour and a Turkish traditional evening with national dances and songs. We visited many historical and
natural sites in that region. I remember that we went to a family owned pottery shop. The social
program and accommodation were great. I can rate the trip to Cappadocia with maximum of points

Every moment spent in Turkey was unforgettable because the people and places are really amazing.
Everybody tries to help you, the Turkish people are warm, sociable and friendly. I fel great all my
time in Turkey. I really liked my experience gained at Baskent University under the guidance of
professor Attila Dagdeviren and assistant Duygu Dayanir. My contact people were really helpful and
friendly. I can really tell you, with open heart that I love Turkey. After one month, I returned to
Turkey, for one week, to Istanbul, for a summer school at Koc University. I can rate my visit to Turkey
with truly maximum of points
Advices
I recommend every person to pack up his/her bags, buy one plane ticket and go to Turkey as
soon as they can. I surely can tell you that they will not regret at all their decision. I can tell
you that visiting and spending time in Turkey will be one of a lifetime experience and you
will feel honored to consider yourself, during your stay, a Turk.

Araştırma Projesi
Rapamisin verimiş farklı yaşlarda farelerle ilgilendim ve sonrasında fareleri feda edip testis
hücrelerinin ilacın etkilerini histolojik olarak incelemek için hasat ettik. Buna benzer işlemleri farklı
antibiyotik ve anti tümör kimyasalları hücre kültüründe test eden laboratuvarlarda da
gözlemlemiştim.Hücre kültürü ve western blotting tekniğini sıkça kullandık.
Hocamla aramdaki yardımlaşmadan çok memnun kaldım, hocam konuşkandı ve projeye dahil olmam
yönündeki isteği projeye katkıda bulunmamı sağladı.Projeye yönelik işlemler pratik beceriler ve aktif
katılımlı bir yaklaşım gerektiriyordu.Ayrıca, hocam arkadaş canlısı ve konukseverdi, resmi bir ilişkimiz
yoktu, bu sayede rahattım ve üniversitedeki zamanımın tadını çıkardım. Hocalara en iyi dileklerimi
iletmek isterim!
Temmuz ya da Ağustos’ta orada olabilmeyi dilerdim çünkü o dönemde daha çok proje mevcut.
İlerleyen zamanlarda araştırma değişimine katılacak öğrencilere tavsiyem projeleri boyunca sabırlı
olmaları gerektiği yönünde, projenin araştırma sorusuna yönelik bir sonuç elde edebilmek için pek
çok işkemin gerçekleştirilmesi gerekiyor.

Romanya’dan olduğum için vizeye ihtiyaç duymadım. Proje şehrime ise uçakla ulaştım.

doğal unsurlarını ortaya çıkaran dinlenme yerlerine de sahip olması... Tabi ki, çok güzel maceralarım
oldu, hiç kötü deneyimim olmadı.

Project
I managed Rapamycin mice of different ages, then I sacrificed and harvested testicular cells to
observe the histological effects of this drug-induced. I have also been observed in other laboratories
thatwere testing different antibiotics and anti-tumor on cell cultures. We did a lot of cell culture and
western blot.
I am very pleased with the cooperation we have had with the tutor; communicative and desire to get
involved in the project, for which we did something practical, hands-on. Moreover, she was very
friendly and holspitality, there was no “official” relation, so I was relaxed and with pleasure of going
to college. I give greeting to the teachers !
I wish I could be there in July or August because in that period are more projects. Many procedures
to arrive at the final result. Be patience !

City and Country
It is Antalya, what could I say more ?? There are so many beautiful places around (Olympos, LyciaMyra, Alanya, Capadoccia...)
You can have both civilized city and resorts “in the wild”, which I loved a lot… of course many
pleasant adventures, and no bad experiece for me, at least.

Konaklama ve Sosyal Program
Konaklamam ülkenin başka bir yerinden gelen
,beraber çok güzel vakit geçirdiğim, bir Türk öğrenci
tarafından sağlandı. Aşırı konukseverdi ve sanki o
güne kadar birbirimizi tanıyormuşuz gibi davrandık,
hiçbir çekincemiz olmadı. Şu an bile iletişim halindeyiz
hatta.(Teşekkürler Yalçın- ve diğer Türk, Safa!!!)
Contact person’ım iyi niyetliyidi ve ihtiyacım olan
bütün bilgileri aldım.
Zayıf noktalardan biri belirlenmiş bir sosyal
programımız olmamasıydı, sosyal programı kednimiz
düzenlemek durumunda kaldık(ben ve Romen iş
arkadaşım). Böyle bir durumda bile tek başımıza
seyahat edip görülecek yerleri gezmeyi başarabildik.
Değişimden Aklınızda Kalanlar
İnanılmaz bir mesleki deneyimdi. Her Türk çayı
içişimde, yani her gün, Türkiye’yi ve orada geçirdiğim unutulmaz zamanı düşünüyorum. Daha fazla
yazmak isterdim ama ne kadar kelime yazarsam yazayım tanıştığım harika insanlarla paylaştığım
anıların özünü yansıtamam.
Önerileriniz
Bu inanılmaz ülkenin çok azını gördüğüm için Türkiye’ye yönelik tavsiye veremem. Fakat, içtenlikle
söyleyebilirim ki Antalya maceraseverler için güzel fırsatlar barındıran medeni bir şehir.
Bu deneyim dünyaya gözlerimi açtı ve Türkiye’nin gördüğüm kısımları göz önünde
bulundurulduğunda, Türkiye’nin en sevdiğim ülkelerden biri haline geldiği söylenebilir. Bir fırsat
kendini gösterirse, bir kere daha Türkiye’yi seçmekte tereddüt etemeyeceğim. Koşullar ne olursa
olsun, Türkiye’yi tekrar ziyaret edeceğim! Geleceğin değişim öğrencilerine tavsiyem İstanbul’u ziyaret
etmeyi iki kere düşünmemeleri olurdu.

My accommodation was a Turkish student from
another region of the country with which I had a great
collaboration: overly hospitable and we acted like we
always knew, there was nothing reserved. Even now
we keep in touch. (Thank you Yalcin!! (and the other
turk Safa)
My contact person was well intentioned and I received
all the information I needed.
A weak point was that we had not a organized social
program by nobody and we had to make it myself and
my (romanian) colleague that I was.
Even so we managed to travel and sightseeing on our own.
Highlights and Memories
It was a great professional experience, very good.
I can not tell very much because it would be too much to write... I think about Turkey everytime
when I drink Turkish tea, Every Day!
Advices
I do not know how is the whole turkey, but I had the chance to be in a civilized city with many
opportunities.
This experience made me look with new eyes and Turkey has become one of my favorite countries,
at least the eastern part of the country.
I will not hesitate to choose Turkey again soon, no matter what the occasion is!
Do not hesitate to visit Istanbul!
