YEARS
AND
COUNTING
Welcome Words from our Founder
Can you believe in a few short
months, we will be halfway into
2016? And we believe 2016 will
continue to be the best year yet
for BCAP! Our board continues
to grow, and as of today, we have
a full-functioning 16 member
board. Our committees and Angie Walters, BCAP Founder
volunteers have also continued to
grow allowing us to make huge strides in getting our name out
there and reaching new breast cancer patients in need. We are
ready to have another recod-setting year for the number of
patients we are able to serve. We could not accomplish our
mission without YOUR generosity and support and we thank each
and every one of you.
Again this year, we started off with a bang with our ever popular
Bunco for Breast Cancer held in March. This was our biggest
bunco to date and also raided the largest dollar amount yet for our
local ptients. 2016 will hold quite a few events supporting BCAP
with the next one slated to begin on June 11th by cancer survivor
and BCAP supporter Bobbie Jo Sparks when she hosts her 3rd
Annual Cancer Free event. June 25th, the Athletics will host their
Pink Night followed by 918 Construction’s 4th Annual Million
Dollar Scramble on July 29th at White Hawk. September will hold
our 8th Annual Pink Carpet Brunch and FAshion Show and will
again feature our patients as models on the runway. Many other
groups continue to support BCAP, Indian Springs Country Club
Women’s Golf Associations and the Career Women’s Golf
Association will both hold tournaments that will benefit BCAP.
Watch for details on all of these fun and exciting events on our
website and our social media sites.
As we strive to hold new events and reach new patients and
supporters, the need for volunteers continues to grow. If you are
looking for ways to give back to your community, consider jumping
on board with BCAP—we need your help to continue to be
successful even if it’s just for a few hours each month.
As always, we can’t thank you enough for supporting BCAP and
local breast cancer patients.

Bunco For Breast Cancer
We kicked off our 10-year anniversary with our Bunco for
Breast Cancer on March 5, 2016. We had a record-breaking
attendance, helping raise over $12,000! This year we had the
pleasure of having Colonel Jessica Michelle as our auctioneer
for our live dessert auction; once again the bidding was
exciting and competitive. We would like to recognize our
sponsors, Industrial Consultants, Helmerich & Payne,
RE/MAX Life, Chinowth & Cohen, Tanda & MT Francis,
Williams, and Simple Simons. A special thank you to Kimberly
Gualman, through her story we see the difference our
sponsors and supporters make in the journey to recovery.
Thank you to all who came out to support BCAP and its
mission to help breast cancer patients.

A BCAP Tradition: Christmas Basket Update
This year we filled the Christmas baskets with the generosity of
many of our supporters. The baskets included essentials for a
Christmas meal, a gift card for perishables, and gifts for each
family member. Many of our volunteers donated their time to
deliver these baskets to the patients we’ve helped in 2015. The
families were thankful and excited to receive their baskets!
We would like to thank the following for their contributions in
making this year’s Christmas basket tradition a success:
Zeta Tau Alpha at Oklahoma State University
Williams and Shae Garcia (a BCAP volunteer)
Manager Lynna at Walmart, 81st & Garnett
Route 66 Ladies of Harley

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY
IN SUPPORTING OUR MISSION
Mary and Navy Chief (Ret.) Peter Berryman, owners of Accent
Picture Framing and Gallery know first hand the support
needed to get through the treatment process.
After learning about BCAP Fund and its mission, Mary
responded to the need of many that face financial worries
during treatment. As a breast cancer survivor, she was aware of
the possible financial worries patients have through treatment.
Because of her husband’s service to the United States Navy,
Mary had great insurance, and his support throughout her
treatment allowed her to take the time she needed for
recovery. She understood this was not possible for many
people, especially single women. Accent Picture Framing and
Gallery has made donations that have helped several patients in
our community ease some of the burden that accompanies a
cancer diagnosis.
Not only has Accent Picture Framing and Gallery been a
supporter and donor of BCAP, Mary and her husband have also
donated their time delivering Christmas baskets; they have been
humbled by the appreciation the patients express. Mary has
attended many BCAP events and she is delighted to see the
faces of the women as they enjoy themselves and is happy to see
the support they offer each other. “It is most important to have
fun times with other survivors and people who care about us
enough to help us feel normal again.”
Mary enjoys attending the Annual Pink Carpet Survivor Brunch
and Fashion Show; she has enjoyed seeing the latest fashion.
“We are interested in having clothes that fit, look nice, and help
us feel normal again. We are strong women, have feelings,
appreciate surviving, trying to get on with our lives, and remind
each other we are not defined by our breasts alone. We are so
much more!”
Thank you Accent Picture Framing and Gallery, your generosity
has made it possible for many to experience peace of mind.
Thank you to all our sponsors and donors. With your support, we are able to assist patients through
their journey to recovery. To make a donation or become a corporate donor, visit bcapfund.org

Board Member Spotlight
Aubry Oehlberg wanted to do something to help breast cancer patients after
she watched her aunt and a friend battle extremely aggressive types of breast
cancer. In 2015, she became involved with BCAP as a volunteer and in 2016 she
joined the Board of Directors as a Board Member at Large.
Aubry describes other board members and volunteers as “extremely generous
and caring Individuals.” She finds it rewarding to be among “an amazing group of
people that try to improve the lives of patients who need help.” Aubry
continues to volunteer as part of the Patient and Marketing Committees. And
we include her among the amazing people who share their time and talents to
BCAP

Outside of BCAP, Aubry loves to travel as much as possible and enjoys going to
Germany where she can practice her German. Hiking and running are one of
her many past times, and she is currently training to run her first marathon.
When she is not running she enjoys her “husband’s delicious cooking and trying
new foods.”
Thank you for your service!
Volunteer Spotlight
With only a few months as the social media and webmaster volunteer, Alyson
has made a significant difference in our social media presence. She has added a
Twitter account (@BCAPfundtulsa) and an Instagram account (BCAPfundtulsa)
helping expand our reach to inform people about BCAP. Her background in
animation and graphic design along with hard work and resolve, has helped
spread the word about the efforts BCAP does to assist local breast cancer
patients. “I am glad to be part of an organization that is dedicated to assisting
patients and does great things in our community”
Alyson first learned about BCAP when she came home after graduating college
in Chicago and attended the BCAP fashion show; her mother had recently
completed chemotherapy and participated as one of the models. Because of her
personal experience and the stories she heard at the fashion show, Alyson was
motivated to work with BCAP in some capacity. When the opportunity to
volunteer surfaced, she was happy to take on her current position to help
further spread BCAPs mission through social media.
Thank you for your dedication!

Call to Action
For the many who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, treatments can be
financially devastating. This burden can weigh heavy on families, some to the
point of having to decide whether they should pay for treatment or provide
basic needs for their families. Consider helping us with BCAP’s goal “to assist
patients in winning their battle against breast cancer”. By diminishing financial
stress related to the basic need of the family, the breast cancer patients can
direct their energy more effectively to the healing process.”
Here are ways you can take action:
o Volunteer by getting in touch with Crystal Ghere at
[email protected] to find the right fit for your skills and
talents.
o Visit our website www.bcapfund.org to donate.
o Attend or become a sponsor of our many events coordinated
throughout the year.
o Shop through smile.amazon.com to donate a portion of your
purchase to BCAP.
