INTRODUCTION
AUH Motorsports as promoter for the Automobile Touring Club of the United Arab
Emirates are pleased to announce the establishment of a new Formula 4 race
championship in the UAE.
The Formula 4 UAE Championship licenced by the
FIA and Powered by Abarth will be open to all drivers
aged 15 and over from the FIA Mena region and in the
2016/17 season will be based in the UAE.
The Formula 4 UAE Championship which is licensed by
the FIA will be open in October 2016 and will be run in
accordance with the FIA guidelines for the establishment
of Formula 4 race events.
In 2014, the FIA Single seat commission announced
their intention to introduce a new category of single seat
racing in order to bridge the gap between karting and
Formula 3.
“Young drivers from each country will be given the
opportunity to show off their talent from the beginning
of their racing careers in a category that meets the
FIA criteria”.
The key objective of the FIA in developing

ASN’s and their partners are;

established with this objective in mind and it adheres
to the guidelines produced by the FIA which includes;

This information booklet provides the ASNs in the
Mena region, teams and drivers with information about
the Championship.

STRUCTURE
OF THE
CHAMPIONSHIP
The Formula 4 UAE Championship will operate under the following
structure:
Teams competing in the Championship other than those already competing
in an FIA approved series outside of the FIA Mena region, will purchase
cars through the Championship promoter.
ASNs from the FIA MENA region may form a team to represent their
National association and purchase cars through the Series promoter.
ASN teams are free to utilise technical support from teams that are based
outside their country.
Teams from outside of the FIA Mena region that own eligible cars are
invited to enter cars and Drivers into the Championship.
Eligible Drivers from 15 years of age will be offered the opportunity to
compete in the Championship by the Teams and will contract directly with
the Teams. (The promoter will maintain a list on the Championship web site
F4UAE.COM, of Teams that are able to offer their services and or race
seats to drivers).

Eligibility
DRIVERS
The Formula 4 UAE Championship is open
to drivers over 15 years of age, holding a
National race license or higher issued by one
of the FIA Mena region ASNs.
All drivers holding Mena region licences are
eligible to score points in the Championship.
Rookie drivers who have not previously raced
in cars will additionally be eligible for the
Rookie Championship.
Drivers aged over 15 years of age, and
holding a National license from outside of
the Mena region, are invited to participate
in the race events but will be ineligible to
score Championship points. Such drivers are
eligible for podium trophies.
All non UAE drivers must provide start
permission letters from the ASN which has
issued their race license.
TEAMS
All Teams with entrants licences, are permitted
to enter drivers in the Championship and
will be awarded points for their two highest
placed drivers in each race which will count
towards the Team Trophy that will be awarded
at the end of the season.
ASNs
The ASNs with drivers competing under their
license, will be awarded points for their two
highest placed drivers in each race which will

count towards the Nations Cup Trophy that will
be awarded at the end of the season

TROPHIES & AWARDS
PODIUMS AFTER EACH RACE
The following Podium Trophies will be awarded Winner, second place, third place overall Rookie driver first second and third.
RACE WEEKEND AWARDS
Spirit of the Championship Award .Presented to the person attending the event in an official capacity (Driver, team member,
marshal etc.) that in the opinion of the organisers embodies the spirit of the event.

SUPERLICENSE POINTS
Subject to their final positions in the Championship, Drivers
will be awarded Superlicence points in accordance with
FIA Regulations.
Additional Financial awards or awards in kind, may be
presented to winning drivers for the purpose of promoting
their careers either in Formula 4 series or Formula 3
series (or their equivalent). The scope and size of such
awards will be determined by numbers of entrants, and
sponsorship raised by the Championship organisers.

Events
The Formula 4 UAE Championship will comprise of
18 races held over 6 events at Dubai Autodrome
and Yas Marina Circuit.
CIRCUIT LAYOUTS
The Championship events will commence in October
2016 and run through until March 2017.Events will
take place at approximately monthly intervals.
The programme at each race weekend will comprise
of the following sessions:
2 x 30 minute official practice sessions
1 x 20 minute Qualifying
3 x 20 minute races
There will be Official testing on the day preceding
each event which will comprise either 4 x 45 min or
2 x 90 min sessions. Attendance at test sessions is
recommended although is not compulsory.

ENGINE - ABARTH FTJ 1.4 LITRE TURBO
The Abarth FTJ 1.4 litre turbo charged engine
produces 160 bhp with 250 Newton metres of
torque at 3,500 rpm. Engine management is by
Magneti Marelli.
The engine is fitted with a dry sump lubrication
system. Engine cooling relies on both air and water
systems. The engine is extensively used in other
Formula 4 Championships within Europe and has
proved to be very reliable.
TYRES
The Official Tyre supplier for the Championship.
In order to avoid unnecessary expenditure during
the Championship, tyre use will be restricted to six
tyres at each event from the start of qualifying until
the end of the last race.
Unused tyres may be carried over to subsequent
events. Tyres that are damaged and are in the
opinion of the tyre manufacturer unfit for racing
may be replaced but penalties in the form of
deduction of series points will be enforced.
There are no limits on the number of tyres
used for practice and test sessions.

It is a requirement that drivers secure the services of a race support team for
race and test events. Details of teams offering such services can be provided by
the Championship promoter.
SUPPORT PROVIDED BY THE CHAMPIONSHIP PROMOTOR.
Engines
Spare parts
Engine technical support for the Championship will
be provided by Autotecnica Motori who will provide
a technical representative at each event. All engine
repair and refresh work must be carried out only by
Autotecnica Motori.
The Championship promoter will arrange for a limited
supply of spare parts to be available for purchase on a
cash or credit card basis at each test and race event.
The sale of parts will be made on a strictly first come first
served basis and there is no guarantee by the organisers
that parts supplies will not be exhausted at an event. It is
recommended that teams purchase in advance a supply of
basic parts for the cars that they run.
Tyres
The tyre supplier will make available a tyre fitting
service at each event and will provide an experienced
tyre engineer to monitor tyre use on behalf of the
Championship organisers. He/she will also be available
to advise and assist teams and drivers with respect to their
tyres. Note that the presence of the tyre engineer does not
absolve the drivers and teams of their sole responsibility
for their use of tyres

Seminars
At each test session, the promoters will arrange for a
seminar to be conducted which are aimed at providing
drivers with some of the tools that they require to advance
their careers. Attendance at these seminars will be
compulsory for all drivers attending the testing sessions.

At each race and official test day, the promotors will provide an official hospitality suite for all Teams, sponsors, drivers and
their friends and supporters.
Lunchtime meals will be provided with teams receiving two free hospitality tickets for each car competing at the event.

TELEVISION
The ATCUAE and the Championship promoter are actively seeking funds from
sponsors in order to provide television coverage for the Championship. Resulting
Television coverage will depend entirely on how successful these efforts are.
Notwithstanding the outcome of the efforts to secure television coverage for the series, race reports in video form will be
distributed to stations throughout the Mena region for airing locally.

CAR BRANDING
The Championship promoter will reserve certain positions
on the cars to promote the Championship sponsors.
Apart from these reserved positions, Teams and drivers
are permitted to display sponsor logos as they see
fit provided that such branding does not breach FIA,
ATCUAE guidelines and Championship regulations.
PRINT MEDIA
Press releases will be issued in Arabic and English to print
media throughout the region.
Such releases will include driver features, event previews
and race reports.

for teams
Teams and ASNs in the Mena region are required to purchase new cars through the
promoter of the Series.
Chassis and engines will be sold in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the FIA.
The price of the car and chassis delivered to Dubai is AED 226,000 which includes
freight and customs duty paid.
Teams MUST order and pay the initial deposit for their cars no later than 15th April 2015
and pay the balance by 15th August 2016.
Car order forms are available on the Championship website f4uae.com and from the
Championship Promoter on request.
At their sole discretion, Teams may purchase cars on behalf of Drivers or purchase cars
on behalf of the Team and lease seat time to the Driver.
In establishing that the costs for competing in the series does not exceed FIA guidelines,
the promoter has made various assumptions regarding the cost of supporting drivers at
events based upon charges made locally in the UAE.
Teams are permitted to charge drivers for their services at rates agreed between
themselves and the drivers. Teams are however reminded that the series is a cost capped
entry level series and that FIA guidelines should be respected when preparing their
support prices.
The price for registering an entry for the series is AED 15,000 ( Euro approx. 3,860 )
The price for a seasons race entry is AED 47,500 ( Euro approx. 12,100 )
The price for a single event entry is AED 15,000 ( Euro approx. 3,750 )

OFFICIAL TESTING PRICES
The entry fee for the events includes 180 minutes testing
time at each event. Teams will be advised of the prices for
Official tests no later than Jan 31ST 2016.

uae based teams
Teams that are entered into the series and which are
based outside of the UAE will be provided with free
storage of their cars between events by the Promoter.
A small transport fee from the storage location to the
events and back will be charged as follow:
Dubai Autodrome events AED 500
Yas Marina Circuit events AED 1,250
All purchases of spare parts and tyres used at events
must be made through the Promoter. Prices will be in
accordance with FIA cost capping provisions.

In order to reduce capital costs, the Promoter is currently
examining potential lease options for the cars and engines.
Such lease options will require a three year commitment
and will require a satisfactory financial guarantee
acceptable to the lessor.
Leased cars remain the property of the lessor and until the
car is paid for in full, will be stored by the promoter and
delivered to the circuit 24 hours before the official test
session and collected 24 hours after the last race at the
event or after the test session is concluded.
Details of the lease option will be published when known.
There is no guarantee that the promoter will be able to
provide a leasing option and the number of cars available
on a lease arrangement will be limited.

Drivers wishing to enter the Series must do so through
a recognised team. Drivers that do not have an existing
relationship with a team and who wish to participate in the
series will be provided with contact details of recognised
teams that are capable of providing the necessary
technical and race support.
Teams will contract directly with drivers for support
services. Drivers may purchase cars through their
nominated Team or lease cars from their Team if the Team
makes such a facility available.
Completed Driver entry forms and payment of entry fees
for the season must be received by the promoter no later
than 1st September 2016. Late entries will be charged
a premium.
Drivers are reminded that the promotors will arrange a
series of seminars (which will cover driver development
topics) at events and that their attendance is compulsory.
Entry forms will be made available on the official web site
no later than 1ST January 2016.
Drivers that are in school MUST provide a letter from their school principal stating
that they have no objection to the driver competing in the series and being absent
from lessons on race and test days.
Parents or Guardians of Drivers under the age of 18 years
must countersign race entry forms giving approval for the
Driver to participate at the events and test sessions.
