It is with a sense of great humility that I took on the
responsibility of chairing this great organization which I first
joined as a Delhi Council member way back in 1999.
With the National Elections process on and a new
government imminent in the near future, the EBG Position
Paper will be released within 3 months of a new Government
being in place.
Over the last few months, with the help of my colleagues in
the National and Chapter Councils, we have added more
strength to EBG by way of senior individuals representing
well known EU corporate coming on board reflected in “Know
your Council members”.We will work to further strengthen
EBG as a promoter & propagator of EU corporate interests in
India. We will continue to work closely with the European
Commission, the EU Delegation in India, EU Member State
Embassies/High Commissions,European Business
Organisation in Brussels and EBTC.
On the membership front, you will be happy to know that we
have added 40 new members in EBG India. We will work to
increase our present membership and to add 1 or 2 more

We have further consolidated our working relationship with
European Business Associations (BLBA, Swedish Chamber of

doing 2 events with BBG.

The European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) is a
programme co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by
EUROCHAMBRES. EBTC supports EU-India business and research
collaboration, primarily in the biotechnology, energy, environment,
and transport sectors.
Here, the collaboration between EBTC and the European Business
Group (EBG) becomes valuable. In synergising efforts, a powerful
instrument to develop an enabling and supportive environment for
European business in India has been established. The partnership
has organised events surrounding talks on the impending EU-India
Free Trade Agreement, such as when EBTC and EBG hosted EU Trade
Commissioner Mr. Karel de Gucht on the eve of the EU-India Summit
in 2012. Since then, significant joint efforts are being coordinated
to push for European business interests in India, and to enhance EUIndia trade and investment. A main focus point in these efforts is to
address market access obstacles, and provide inputs and
recommendations to policy makers in the EU-India policy dialogue.
The field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) has been identified as
one such barrier to EU-India trade and technology transfer. EBTC
and EBG are bringing together their strengths to address challenges
that companies and researchers are experiencing in this space.
Amongst numerous initiatives, EBTC's IPR Helpdesk offers various
supports and services for EU organisations. Currently, the two
organisations are planning to conduct a survey to identify market
access and IPR issues being faced by European organisations in
India.
