QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET
The Queen Victoria Market has been the heart and soul of Melbourne for more than a century. A historic landmark spread over two city blocks, it’s a
vibrant and bustling inner-city Market where you can shop for everything from Australian fruit and vegetables, local and imported gourmet foods, to
body products, clothing and souvenirs.
The Market trades five days a week—Tuesday, and Thursday to Sunday.
The Market offers a strong local customer base and a high visitation by overseas, interstate and regional Victorian visitors.
We are continually seeking to improve and diversify the Market’s product offering and mix. Our goals are to continually engage with business that
offer a strong point of difference and have a stand out concept that offer quality, value for money products and services that build upon the Market’s
reputation as a shopping destination. We are seeking new traders that support a sustainable value set, including locally made and designed products
that are socially sustainable and can create theatre on site with making or creating product within the stall environment. In all areas of the market we
are looking at innovative and creative businesses that demonstrate high visual presentation standards and ID, customer service and current business
practices that align to the modern consumer.
The Queen Victoria Market has a heavily programmed calendar of events to drive visitation, encourage repeat visitation and to entice new audiences
to the market throughout the year. Over the next 12-18 months QVM is working to activate the Market site for hallmark Melbourne events including
Christmas, NYE, Easter and other significant highlight Melborune events. As a trader at Queen Victoria Market, opportunities to participate in these
events do arise and are communicated through the Traders Bulletin and Traders Hub.

STALL HOLDER LICENSE
The successful applicant will be required to enter into a licensed agreement with Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd (QVM).
The term of the license will be discussed with you at an interview and currently is a casual month to month option.
Initially, you will commence trade as a casual stallholder with the opportunity to apply for a permanent site at a later date.
Casual stallholders are registered traders and are expected to trade every week as advised. However, they have no fixed
location and are allocated stalls on the day depending upon what vacancies are available across the marketplace.
PERMITTED USE
The Licensee may only sell goods listed in their license agreement as their permitted use or Schedule C. You are required
to obtain QVM’s prior approval to vary the range and concept. Whilst QVM aims to provide a range of different uses, no
product exclusivity will be granted.
There is a limit on the number of Market businesses with which an individual is permitted to be connected and the total
number of stalls any individual may hold.
You are entitled to a leave of absence from the Market of four (4) weeks per calendar year in blocks of not less than 1 week.
Appropriate leave forms need to be submitted prior to taking leave.
STALL INFORMATION
STALL FEES
The licensee is required to pay the prescribed fee for
any stall occupied. These fees are inclusive of GST.
In addition a bond payment is also required prior to
commencement of trade. The bond is held in an interest
bearing account until the license has ceased.
STALL DIMENSIONS
Stalls vary between locations across the marketplace
in relation to stall size. This has evolved through the
passage of time and is the nature of the QVM’s market
environment. Your stall set up will need to be flexible
enough to accommodate this.
Stall set up will be to a visual standard approved by
Queen Victoria Market and in accordance with its
merchandising guidelines. Stallholders must comply
with the operational requirements of the Market and
direction of QVM staff.
