Wolf, a graduate of M.I. in 1981, (then known as the Guitar institute of Technology)
started his career as a lead guitar player for various local rock groups in Los Angeles
before joining Rock drumming legend Carmine Appice in the group King Kobra
(Capitol) in 1984. Following this short-lived success, he gradually became more
interested in recording engineering and after attending production and engineering
courses at a local city college, he built his first home studio. Initially this studio was to
accommodate his own songwriting and collaborations, but his ambitions for a bigger
and better sound led to a series of equipment upgrades and expansions of the studio
into a for-hire small facility. As he outgrew these humble origins, he spotted a
commercial studio for sale in Hollywood and became owner of the Music Box
Recording Studio in 1992.
Over the next seven years, Wolf engineered and produced over 50 album projects at
the Music Box studio. Notable Clients and projects included over 2 dozen albums and
compilations for veteran “power-pop” Indy label Bomp records…

After 7 successful and busy years at the Music Box, Wolf took the opportunity to take
some much needed time off and sold the Music Box to his right hand man and studio
manager Jon Newkirk. Jon had big dreams and plans of studio ownership himself
and with Wolf as his consultant and negotiator, transformed the Music Box into a
much larger facility re-dubbed ‘Studio Atlantis’.
After 2 years in semi-retirement, Wolf desired to have a studio of his own again and
opened Studio 5109, in an adjoining space to Atlantis as an associated but
independent studio to the Atlantis complex… In it’s first 3 years of operation, Studio
5109’s productions focused on Urban, R&B, and Gospel. In this period, Wolf worked
with E2 Music Group (Tracy Edmunds), with staff producers Brainz and Freckles, as
well as mixing for E2 Filmworks Project “Havoc”.

establish his new base of operations. Kim chose Studio 5109 and owner/engineer
Mike Wolf as his new partner and chief “musicalizer” for his ongoing and prolific
production schedule. Since his arrival Kim and Mike have been working steadily on
