Tell the YES! Unit something fun about you…
I used to weight 200lbs! (And I’m only 5’3”). Now I’m obsessed
(in a healthy way) about health and fitness. I LOVE food… so in
order to still enjoy it I learned how to cook delicious AND healthy
meals. And I can tell you how many calories are in any food…
from an apple to a McDonald’s cheeseburger. Plus, I work out 5-7
times a week… mostly running and weight lifting. One day I
plan to run a marathon. Cheers to health!!!
What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?

If I could I’d go sailing every weekend. But if it’s winter or I can’t
make it to Lake Tahoe then I love hiking in the Appalachians,
spending time with friends and family, dancing, SLEEPING,
reading, listening to music… I love lots of things!
What did you do before joining Mary Kay?
My husband and I own a billboard business in Central California.
My job (still) is to do all the marketing for vacant billboard space,
vinyl design, and I sometimes aid in new structure/site
Why did you decide to join Mary Kay?
Before moving to CA in 2006 to get married, I worked for a
company that produced marketing materials for “Network
Marketing” companies. From that job I gained an understanding
of how successful people can become in these types of businesses.
Also I learned that if I were ever going to join a network
marketing or direct sales company that 5 things had to be true
about that company.

Congratulations on a fabulous November! We ended the month with over $17,000
wholesale production and 8 new Unit Members! I am so proud of each and every one
of you!
A big hooray to Jenn Phipps, Marcy Stites, Katy Haley, and Valerie Cropanese who have already reached
STAR CONSULTANT status. They will not only be picking a prize from Mary Kay Corporate but they have also earned a beautiful amethyst ring (that matches the Directors suit), a
ticket to the Star Mystery Night on January 18th and
special recognition at the Winter Retreat! Several of you are on target for Star status….make
it your goal to finish up by December 15th! Remember….Stars Earn Cars!

CAKE:
Cooking spray
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 3 oranges)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith or other
tart apple (about 3/4 pound)
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
GLAZE:
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons low-fat buttermilk
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

To prepare cake, coat a 10-inch tube pan
with cooking spray; dust with 1 tablespoon
flour.
Beat eggs in a large bowl at medium speed
of a mixer until foamy; gradually add 1 3/4
cups sugar, beating well. Lightly spoon 3
cups flour into dry measuring cups; level
with a knife. Combine 3 cups flour, baking
powder, and next 4 ingredients (baking
powder through nutmeg), stirring well with a whisk. Combine rind, juice, oil,
and vanilla. Add flour mixture to egg mixture alternately with juice mixture,
beginning and ending with flour mixture. Combine apple, 2 teaspoons sugar,
and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
Pour half of batter into prepared pan. Arrange half of apple mixture over batter,
overlapping slightly. Repeat procedure with remaining batter and apple mixture.
Bake at 375° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out
clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 20 minutes. Carefully remove cake from pan.
To prepare glaze, combine 1/4 cup sugar, buttermilk, and baking soda in a
small saucepan. Cook over medium heat 2 minutes or until foamy, stirring
constantly. Drizzle glaze over warm cake. Cool completely on rack.
Preheat oven to 375°.
