WELCOME & INTRODUCTION TO SNOW VALLEY
Welcome to Snow Valley, I’m ____________ and I’m a part of the Snow Valley Ski and
Snowboard school.
Please stay on the bus until your teacher gives you your ticket (explain how the ticket goes on the
jacket, preferably on the pocket, and remind them to put the back in the garbage.)
People with your own equipment leave it in the racks outside the chalet.
When you get off the bus everyone will enter the chalet through the single blue door. All bags are
to be left in the rental shop boot room. When you select a boot your bag goes in that boot cubbie.
If you are not renting, you can find an area in the picnic room to leave your bags. ****We have a
lockers available for $2.00****
Renters
After you pass the picnic area you will enter the rental department. Someone will direct you to get
your boots, skis, boards or blades. As you leave the rental department your teachers will record
the numbers on your equipment. It is very important that you remember the number on your skis,
boards, and blades as most of our equipment looks the same- If you think you’ll forget, have your
teacher write on your ticket.
As you exit the rental department you’ll meet our Ski & Snowboard School.
Beginners
Beginners will have their lesson right away. **(Bladers are included with the skiers)**
Beginner skiers will go to the Adventure Centre. Beginner snowboards will go to the Ride Centre.
In each of these centers you’ll work through 5 stations, at your own pace. When you successfully
complete the 5th station, you’ll get a green stripe on your ticket. You will then be grouped by an
instructor to learn how to ride the chairlift and complete one run on the main hills. The green
stripe allows you on the hills with a green circle on the sign, the quad chair and the wide load
chair.
Station 7 is on Snoopy, where we’ve set up pylons for you to practice turning, on a steeper hill.
Intermediate skiers/boarders
After you get your equipment you can head to the stripe test. It is on the right hand side as you
exit the rental shop. Here you can get either a green or a blue stripe, depending on your ability.
The green stripe allows you on the hills with a green circle on the sign, the quad chair and the
wide load chair. The blue stripe allows you on all the other hills as well as the triple chair (point it
out).
Those of you who get your stripe at the stripe test, you have a lesson at ________. You meet at
the fence of the wide load chair.
Safety Rules- Safety is our biggest priority at Snow Valley.
***VERY IMPORTANT-KEEP YOUR SAFETY BAR DOWN until you reach the sign at
the top that says you can lift it up!!! Please keep your poles up as you get off the chair.
Only ski or board on the appropriate hills to the colour of your stripe.
Ski or Board in control at all times. If you are caught skiing out of control you will be removed
and you will have to sit in the chalet for the day. ** NOT FUN **
*** Any teacher from any school or any employee from Snow Valley can remove your stripe if
you are skiing out of control. We also have Hill Rangers (dressed in yellow vests) who are on the
hills to control speed.
*** On cold days talk about frostbite ***
What do you think is our 2nd priority at Snow Valley? ****FUN****
ASK IF THERE ARE ANY QUESTIONS **HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!**
Parent Volunteers
If any parent volunteers are on the bus please go to the alcove in the front lobby. You will
receive your trail maps and lift tickets here from a Snow Valley staff member. You will
