Blue Family is a suspenseful drama inspired by actual events which tells the story of a man
who over the course of two years kidnaps three women and keeps them locked in his
basement for several more years. It gives an inside look at the double life of a man whose
depths of darkness are revealed behind closed doors, along with the stories of three
women willing to do anything in order to get back to their families.
On the outside, Armando Guevara seems like the perfect neighbor. He is attractive,
creative, always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, but behind closed doors
he hides a dark secret. In an attempt to make up for a lifetime of abuse and the
family he never had, he hand picks his own perfect family.
One by one Armando kidnaps three attractive young women. Julia, Jessica and Erin
become his own twisted little family. While the girl’s real families worry sick about
them, we dive into the depths of the shocking possibilities what could happen to
three innocent girls trapped for years with a raging psychopath. When Armando’s
brother Daniel is brought into the circle he struggles with the moral dilemma of right
and wrong. He desperately wants to give his brother what he has always dreamed
of, yet sees the error of the horrendous acts.
Forming
a strong bond of their own, Julia, Jessica and Erin are determined to break
free. When a day filled with terrible punishment and beating reveals the truth of
Julia’s pregnancy, the girls make a pact. They will get out, no matter what the price
may be. As they bide their time and play the game they manage to earn the
confidence of Daniel and persuade him to their side of the battle for freedom.
The clock is ticking as they run up against obstacles that may not only impeded their
dream of freedom but leave them with a punishment beyond the realm any of them
can endure. Will they have any hope of ever seeing their families again? Will they
ever escape from this madman’s house of horrors? Can their families or the
neighbors ever discover what goes on behind closed doors?

Blue Family is an intense story that was inspired by
actual events. The aesthetic proposal is drawn directly
from the screenwriting process and the script itself, in
which the characters' simplicity and their most basic
actions demonstrate the complexity of their feelings. In
this character driven drama, the aesthetic requires a
natural and true acting style that accurately portrays
the deep emotions each of the characters. The action
within the film comes from an almost primal place
where survival and instinct lie at the core. As many of
the underlying themes from the script are actually
quite tangible and come from a place of reality, it was
imperative that the acting stay true and never seem
over done or stereotypical.
The atmosphere of this film is created with nightmarish elements transformed into those of the everyday that
people from every walk of life could imagine. Rich artwork and lighting combined with realistic costume design as
well as the movement of the camera come together to take the audience places they've only heard about through
media outlets surrounding current events.
The sense of color change between locations helps take the audience on the emotional journey along with the
characters and helps them to identify with the struggle at hand. The sound design and soundtrack join together
with the visual image to complete identification process so that the audience is craves resolution as much as the
characters do.
Together, artistry, simplicity and a sense of truth come together to form the creative foundation of this film.
