August Newsletter - Volume 8 - 2014
It’s the middle of summer but time to start preparing for our fall activities. Up first
will be our Tuesday Night Line Dances beginning at an earlier time. Warm up is at
6:45 with lessons running from 7:00-8:30PM. This begins September 2nd at Sioux
Falls VFW on Minnesota Ave. $4.00members/$6.00non-members.
Enjoy August, “National Admit Your Happy” Month!

Dakota Country Fall Harvest Festival is scheduled with Hartford Legion and Jamin
Jay for November 15 starting at 1pm.
Line Dance and Couples lessons will be offered that day with a line dance and couples mixer that evening. Supper will be pot luck with the club providing a main
course (sandwich) and corn on the cob, while Club members are welcome to bring a
Dessert or salad to Share. Let's celebrate a great year and learn some New Dance
moves by attending and promoting this event!!! More information coming soon!!

Dancing and Socializing Opportunities
Tuesday Night Line Dances are on their way back with a new time and new
format! Get your happy feet on!
Beginning September 2nd, 2014. Tuesday nights starting with a warm up at 6:45Pm and Lessons running
from 7:00PM
7:00PM--8:30
Weekly reviews of dances taught will be a standard, so jump in any time.
Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse is one of the gathering places for our club members, beginners, and
experts alike! Saturdays we enjoy professional country Western line and
partner dance lessons taught by Jerry and Kathy Nusz free of charge. Line
dance lessons are at 4:00-5:30 PM with partner dance lessons from 5:307:00 PM.
A partner is recommended but not required so please come! Dancers with
out partners please remember that when the instructor invites us
to begin the lesson, if you want to dance, let us know it by getting
yourself onto the floor!
If there is uneven number of partners, we take turns. After classes we keep right on dancing the
night away. Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse is featuring country music from 7-9:30 PM. They'll play some hot
country hits as well as great music from the past. Subject to change. Please call Bucks for info 605-331-2448.
Thursdays has Country Music and Dancing at Bucks. It is also Ladies Night. You can come out
as early as 4:00 PM for music and dancing with dancing beginning early in the evening around 7:00PM
with a DJ! We need a good turn out every week to keep the country music playing. Bring your friends
and be sure to say hello to our dance neighbors so everyone feels welcome. In Buck's words, "Dust off
your boots, get out your hat and come on down to Bucks and do it Country Style!”
The Ballroom Dance Club of Sioux Falls. Attend the only Big Band Ballroom Dance in the area. Each
month, a big band orchestra entertains the crowd with music from past eras; the 40's,50's and 60's. All ages and
abilities are welcome. Dance lesson at 6:00PM, band plays 7:00-10:30PM. $12.00 per person, $5.00 for students

Grand Falls Casino has open dancing on Sunday afternoons from 2:00-6:00PM and it is free.

Dance Ballroom & Studio. West coast swing Sundays. 6:30PM lesson, 7:30-9:00PM Dancing

Meeting opened at 7:15 Pm
Secretary Minutes: Read by Pat Addition/Corrections Made. Duane will meet with Keith about Web Administer Duties
and
Sheila will take the Web Administer in the future. Corrections stand approved- with no objections
Treasurers' Report: Duane present. Stand approved as presented.
Sunshine Report: Sent card to Jay Davies. Rick will send card to Don Futrell
Line Dance- VFW will not accept $175.00/Monthly but will go with the $225.00/Month
- Dance will be Tuesdays starting at 6:45 PM
- Tuesday Line dance will start September 2nd
- Ask VFW to provide advertising on Marquee
- Group discussion on types of advertising for dance
- Mary will check on cost of Groupon and cost of Kelo-Land Spot light
Fall Fest: Duane will check on possible open dates, place, cost and music. Discussion of events during the Fall Fest.

Printer - Prices of printers and ink were discussed. Decision to purchase HP 8620 Duane made motion and Lori 2nd motion.
Check was given to Mary to make purchase.
Band – Advice Jen on holding off on band – more research needed.
Presidents Corner – Tom will submit something for the next newsletter.
Lori will preside during the next two months in the absence of club not having a president.
