NYC DOC has held perhaps its largest celebration of
Black History Month. It was highlighted by ceremonies
at George Motchan Detention Center Feb. 14, 2011. The
event included honoring former DOC Commissioner
Jacqueline McMickens, remarks by Deputy Mayor
Dennis Walcott and Rev. Alfonso Wyatt, and personal
essays read aloud by their authors, DOC staffers.
