 Self Development Program 1.0 & 2.0

HIC Academy in collaboration with Al ilm Consultancy hosted a weekend of Self
Development Program; Sayyid Ali Naqvi of Birmingham facilitated this program.
On Saturday August 16 2014 SDP 1.0 took place for new participants. Returning
participants from April and the previous day attended SDP 2.0 on Sunday August
17th 2014.
The objective of the workshop was
• Understand self after reflecting and discussing with peers,
• To understand the difficulties in making judgment of others.
• To understand the principals of adult learning and its application.
On Saturday, the Self Development Program began at 9:30AM with breakfast
and Quran recitation began at 10AM. The first time participants were given an
overview of the program and the objectives were explained. Several role playing
and group activities took place:

Personal mind mapping
Reflection Circles
Group activities
Presentations.
SDP 1.0 session ended at 4:30PM with participants eagerly waiting to attend the
next day SDP 2.0 session. Some of the feedback received from SDP 1.0

SDP 2.0 began on Sunday August 17th 2014 at 9:30 with scrumptious
breakfast followed by Quran recitation by Br. Riyaz Jivraj. The objectives of

SDP 2.0 ended at 5:30PM and personal interviews were taken for a documentary
that is being created about the Self Development Program. Some of the

Self Development Program tour will continue with the next session to be held in
