1. Olaf Hansson. Born 8 Jul 1814273 in Sweden. Occupation Farmer (near Göteborg).
Olaf had a farm some distance from Göteborg, Sweden. Edith Rude’s mother, Olga, remembered that the family used to
gather there during summer vacations. Olaf’s children were “prolific” according to Edith. She remembers that at 22 years
old she had over 50 cousins.180
He married Maja Christina Bernhardina Berntsdotter. Born 10 Aug 1815273 in Hjälteby - Tjörn, Sweden. They had the

2. Sofia Olsdotter. Born 7 Apr 1841273 in Sweden.
Sofia used to row a boat across the canal from Lindholm to Göteborg to the farmers’ market in the city square. One
Saturday she barely made it home before giving birth to Olga. As Edith Rude says, “fortunately at home and not in the
canal!” Sofia suffered a broken shoulder and was bed ridden for some years before her early death.180
She married ? Hanson.
Shipbuilder. Lived in Lindholm, Göteborg, Sweden (Lindholmsvagen 27). He had red, blonde hair. Died at 87 years of
age. He had four sisters: Karen, Welma, Greta, and Sigma, who inherited his house. It still stands.180

Beate was a brunette. She was called “Mor Mor” by her
grandchildren.6 Edith Rude remembers meeting her when
“Muster Betty” was old. She remembers her as very beautiful and “queenly”.180
She married her younger sister’s husband after Maria died,

Maria was blonde.6
Research: Buried in grave 5678 near 5353.
She married August Andersson Almén (pronounced “Al main”),
son of Lars Almén, 13 Oct 1884273 in Sweden. Born 19 Nov
1854300 in Lerum, Alvsborgs Lan, Sweden. Died 4 Feb 1936273
in Göteborg, Sweden. Buried in Östra Begravning Platsen Cem.,
Göteborg, Sweden 20. Occupation Tullvaktmäst (Harbor Official)273.
Called “Mor Far” by the children of Joseph and Agda Worth.6 His
first wife, Maria, and his only son, Algot, both died about the
same time. It was very hard on him.113
August lived in Göteborg, but he had a brother who had a farm
near the coast further north in Sweden. Roy, Blanche and Evelyn
visited him as children. August also had two sisters that never
married.113
Research: Family rumor has it that August originally had the last
name of Anderson but changed it to Almen.21

Referred to as “Tant Olga” in the family. Olga moved to America when she was 16 years old. She came for a visit to
Baltimore and refused to leave. She couldn’t speak English at first, but learned it quickly and got a job. She then met
William Parker Selby. They lived in New York about 1910.
She married William Parker Selby, son of Samuel (?) Selby, 1893180. Born 18 Jan 1866180 in Selby, England. Died
1913180. Occupation Insurance.
His ancestry was of Selby, England. His family migrated to Selbyville near Delaware, Maryland. 180

Agda’s mother died when she was very young and she was brought up by
her stepmother (aunt). Agda was living near Meirl (spelling?) on the
outskirts of Göteborg prior to her marriage.20
She married Joseph William “Joe Willie” Worth, son of Dyson Worth &
Emma Garlick, 9 Apr 1910300 in Göteborg, Sweden. Born 19 May
1884107 in Lockwood, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. Died 5 Mar
193621 in South Pasadena, California. Buried in Church of Our Savior,
San Gabriel, California6. Occupation Yarn spinner, woolen mill owner.
